I love Home Depot. On my last visit I bought the 6 ft. x 8 ft. Kaleidoscope Polypropylene Outdoor Area Rug for under $30! Walking to the cashier two people said they'd like to buy the same rug. It looks great on my patio. And really upgrades the seating area. Sometimes it takes a bit of looking and waiting to find products that suit your style. But the service is always friendly, and customer centered. Staff will cheerfully walk you through the store and lead you to what you're looking for. Where else does that happen? One more note, I just read a few reviews and would say another thing that made my experience really pleasant was shopping there after 6 PM when the store is less crowded and staff can provide their best service. read more

Maria in the paint department at the Encinitas, Ca location is hostile and has a horrible attitude. She is completely rude! She treated us horribly with a bully attitude. We kindly asked her about changing a paint color and she went off on us saying the paint we bought could not be returned. We knew that. We never asked for a refund, we just wanted to adjust the color to a darker color instead of wasting a pint of paint we had just both there. She said it could not be done. We went back later in the day to see if we could ask another person in the paint department...what do you know, Derek the paint expert fixed the color for us. She said she was a paint expert...I don't think so! She was so hostile and rude! Why does HD employee her...the customers and employees would be better off without her nasty attitude. The other employees have a problem with her is what I understand. They wanted us to complain to Corporate. HD should have an undercover person go in to interact with her...it will be the same. We dealt with her about a year ago...exact same hostile attitude. She should be fired for being hostile and a bully to customers and co-workers. The most annoying thing just happened.. I go into Home Depot to get screws and this older male employee follows me and asks if I need help. I said nicely, "No, that's okay; I will know when I see it, but thanks." There were two other men looking at screws longer than I was. He continued to watch me and it stressed me out as he's staring at me. Then he is all: "looks like u need help (chuckle) what can I help you find?" So I told him what I am looking for and he grabs the wrong screws but I just took them so that he would leave me alone, and I continued to look for what I thought was right. And right when I took them from him, he started walking away while laughing and said under his breath: "See- I knew you needed help " and he kept laughing all condescending as he walked away to brag to the other male employee. I started second guessing myself so I bought what he told me to, plus what I thought I needed - and I WAS RIGHT. Ugh sexism is soooo real. And it comes down on female's self confidence since we grew up in a patriarchal world. I literally owned my own construction company and have worked in construction for over 5 years, yet I let this Home Depot employee make me feel 'less than,' simply because I am female. In our recent experience, this situation shifts a significant burden back on the consumer in communicating with and obtaining correct services from those contracted workers. We are in our third week post refrigerator purchase and our new refrigerator is still not functioning correctly. The hauling away of our old refrigerator is scheduled for tomorrow after 3 previous attempts. The hauling contractor's rules keep changing and we have the back aches to prove it. This review is to reflect my experience with the paint department in particular though I have had similar experiences with multiple different departments here. I have been trying to reach someone in the paint department for the past few *days*. A machine picks up, transfers me to a phone representative who then transfers me to a number that hangs up after a few rings. When I call back and follow the prompts to reach the same rep they tell me to leave my number and someone would call me back. And they never return the call. I assume Home Depot has some sort of business model where they understaff their store and claim that the savings from overworking their business undersized staff comes to you. This is a nonsense business strategy ane doesn't make sense because their prices aren't significantly different than their competitors. I would only go here as a last resort and even then I would expect to leave with a headache. Not sure how they're still in business. read more

I don't like to give businesses bad reviews since I feel that most employees and businesses try to do a good job. However, HD Encinitas location is just horrible. Twice this week, I went in and had to wait over 10 minutes to ask an employee a simple question. Twice this week, I heard employees complaining about the shortage of help and being overworked. Twice this week, the check out person seemed disinterested, somewhat irritable and didn't seem to really like their job. Twice this week, I couldn't find what I was looking for at this location. I realize it is hard to find good employees post pandemic especially at the businesses that pay lower wages, but clearly there is a serious management issue at this HD. However, lately, I've been finding that Home Depot have stepped it up on the pretty cool and pretty things for me to buy around the house. I found a lamp and some vanities I want for my house. Never, ever buy an appliance here. The company that they use to do the install called "Temco Logistics" which is an outsourced service tech for the company they actually employ, are absolutely awful. They have a 1 star rating on multiple sites. The installers came on July 29th to install my LG washer and when doing so, unhooked my dryer drain and steam components. They left them on the floor behind the dryer and didn't say a word! Long story short, after figuring out what was going on, I called Home Depot who put in a service order through Temco. After hours of talking to the Temco managers and being put on hold, I was given a date new service date, 3 weeks later, on August 18th. We went by today because someone in our neighborhood mentioned they were giving away free bagged mulch and potting soil (in the area behind the nursery). She even mentioned that there were People in Orange aprons helping to load bags up. We went with my mother in law and another neighbor to see if we could get lucky as well. We didn't see anything going on behind the nursery so my mother in law went ahead of us and asked about it to an older and taller Caucasian gentleman in the nursery. I get there just in time to hear him laughing at and saying that Home Depot doesn't give away free stuff. As she is walking away, he is basically talking crap about my mother in law (as she is walking away) to the other woman that was working at the counter across from him saying where would she the idea we were giving stuff away and she shouldn't believe everything she reads On the Internet. I happen to be walking in and hear this and said that we were just checking and there was not need to be rude. He replied with show me where and when I brought it up on the phone he said we don't give stuff away for free. This Home Depot is incredibly busy. The parking lot is always full and the staff are stretched thin between multiple departments and customers. Most of the reviews on here about how bad the staff is did not show when I went in just for just a couple things. Plumbing is where I always go to see a handful of jolly people, all the staff in plumbing know the go around for sure. Ask for any one of them for plumbing assistance and you won't be disappointed! And if you happen to get Carter and Ken together, you sure are in for some comedic relief. Those two together should be in a comedy club, not in a Home Depot. This store is small and with the amount of stuff they sell, everything is usually in stock. I understand most of it is on a boat at the moment. But they have good supply of what I needed. I went to the Encinitas Home Depot with a list of things from my contractor (gas pipe caps, dryer vent & tape, angle stops, bondo, etc) most of which I didn't even know what they were or where to look. i did have photos of the things I needed so I showed them to Bob (from Sicily by way of New York) in Plumbing and he was so nice and helpful. He made sure I had some size options and we got through my list pretty quickly. He then got a ladder so that he could bring down 2 medicine cabinets for me! Bob was professional, non-judgmental, and clearly he knew his stuff!!! Then Bonnie rang me up at the register with a lovely smile and nice demeanor. As I headed to load up my car, a nice older man named Mark offered immediate assistance and loaded my medicine cabinets into my vehicle. Wow! Im a teacher that stopped in here to get a few cans of paint for a Mother's Day project I was going to do with my students, and was blown away by the service I received! I needed to do a last minute stop and was in a major rush to get to work. I told the technician at the paint department that I was in such a rush and simply needed two small cans of paint and it didn't matter what color, I would take anything. I said that it was simply for an art project with my students and that I was desperately in a rush to be in and out, practically begging him for help. He walked away from me and in an annoyed voice said you'll have to choose a color or I can't help you. First of all I had no idea where the different colors were and definitely needed help with that, and all he had to do was pick two colors and sell them to me. But nope I was left standing there shocked and feeling very very small. So I literally grabbed two paint colors from the samples that were directly behind me and went to hand them to him and he completely ignored me, looked over my shoulder and waited on the man behind me. I was flabbergasted, so much in fact that I was in tears. When I asked him his name because I definitely felt that somebody needed to know about this service, he ignored me. After the 4th time I asked he finally answered me. I don't usually take the gender bias route, but the way he acted really felt bias and had I been a man needing something "important" or knew how the paint buying process works I don't think I would have been pushed aside like I was. I ended up having to wait for another paint technician because of his decision to completely ignore me as a customer. I ended up not being in and out, and I never should've stopped in. Usually, when coming to Home Depot I have always been treated so nicely and they always go out of their way to help me. Luckily the new technician who I waited for was the nicest woman that brought me back to a happy place, even though an extra 20 minutes was added on to my super rushed but very important stop that should have took 5 minutes had I been acknowledged as a customer and the FIRST person in line. Any who the girl apologized for the mans actions and let me know that he was an owner of one of the paint companies and not an actual Home Depot employee. But regardless of who he was, he was waiting on customers and it was the first time I had a bad experience at Home Depot. The new technician took the two colors I had chosen and had them ready super fast and provided a lovely conversation while doing so and even informed me that for future reference there was a paint shelf directly next to me where they sell returned paints ready and mixed for super cheap. Ummmm if that man had just spent 30 seconds listening to me and respecting me like a human being he could've referenced that shelf and I would've been there for two minutes and not have been late to work and upset leaving that store. Ha! The colors the new technician made for me were so beautiful and I was able to make the most beautiful art project with my students. Had that employee not stepped in and helped me my day would've been much different. I have only spent the time leaving this review because no one should be treated that way, ESPECIALLY as a paying customer, just ridiculous. I have added a picture of what my "unimportant" purchase at Home Depot produced. They really do make beautiful colors & know what they're doing in the paint department but I most likely won't go back to that particular Home Depot simply because this type of service is aloud. read more

I purchased a washer/dryer from Home Depot over a week ago, and scheduled delivery for 12/4. I arranged my schedule to meet this date. I updated my laundry room with new hook-ups, paint, etc. In so doing, the old washer/dryer are disconnected. I got an e-mail less than 48 hours before the scheduled delivery moving my date to 12/11. One week later. No apology, nor explanation in the e-mail. I called the 800 number, and it took 15 minutes to get a live person. He was very nice and spent a lot of time helping me, trying to get a hold of LG. It turns out Home Depot does not have part of the delivery. But, that does not help me as as I have to go longer without a washer/dryer and have to re-arrange my schedule. I have gotten no accommodation for the inconvenience. While Home Depot can blame LG, Home Depot sold me something they did not have access to. Do their computer systems not keep track of washers and dryers available to them?? It appears Alan R. had a similar experience in his review of 8/14, so there is a pattern. read more

I purchased a 40ah Ryobi battery a year ago for use with a lawn mower and blower. This comes with a 1 year warranty. I also purchased a 2 year extension on the battery. It died the week before the one year warranty was over. They would not exchange it for a new one, but told me I had to contact Ryobi for a replacement. In the past the manager would exchange it for a new one. Not this time! The "customer service" manager was very rude and hardly a friendly face for Home Depot to present to the public!! read more

Everything is so easy to find and if you can't find something there is someone close by who can assist. I bought gardening goods using a $50 gift card - a Home Depot gift card (orange color). I used all but $5.88 and was given a receipt with the credit. Knowing the law, I asked for the balance in cash (California Civil Code Section 1749.5(f)) but after 2 cashiers, a visit to the Customer Service desk and Manny, a manager, all 4 employees refused my cash out request. Of course, it was only $5.88 but either all employees are not trained properly or they would rather keep the money in hopes I will lose/forget that I have a credit. I'm sure this effort results in $1000s of extra income per store each day. I expect more for a national corporation and a company that I've spent well over $100,000. That being said, when you finally flag someone down to ask a simple question they are quick to send you on your way to find your item. Zero stars for the curbside pickup. 28 hrs to process the order. Arrived and girl at the table was too busy looking at her phone to even look up. I walked up to her table, showed her the order #. She then radios someone to go get it, 15min later someone comes out and grabs what I ordered and brought it to me. Time and Time again, this Home Depot has proved itself a cut above the rest, but most recently I rented a truck from them to transport a bedframe to PB. I arrived at 7:45pm, after confirming they would rent one to me that late and was driving away by 8:15. The amount of time I stood waiting to be helped is my only reason for a 4 star review. They just don't have enough employees to move the lines quicky, but once I received help, it was relatively smooth. They told me if I wasnt back by 9pm, I'd be charged the overnight fee. I was able to get back by 9:05pm and Jacob and his manager, Manny, let me in to return the truck. I greatly appreciate Jacob taking the time to help me out and let me return it, despite arriving a little bit past close. So, five stars for Jacob, but -1 for the wait it took to grab the truck.
