Tobias was extremely helpful. Super professional I really recommend Dixieline. He really knows what he's talking about.

one of the doors which was strapped too tightly with nothing between the strap and the door

Where should I start, 45 days or so, I placed a fairly large order for interior doors for my house (20 8' Orepack doors), and we also ordered 2 patio doors and a 12' foldable door from Windor. My sales person stop all correspondence once she got and ran my CC. No one ever communicated that 3-of our doors were backordered. Several of the doors are damaged and did not come with the hardware we ordered. We need to install our outside doors to start on Stucco for the house, one of the patio doors is damaged. I am told that we would not get a replacement door for 4-weeks. I called Windor and they said the turnaround is 2-weeks. We ordered Bronze hinges for everything including the Windor. Dixieline managed to screw up the order, i have brushed stainless for hinges and the handle is a different color. Dixieline from management to the saleswoman could care less. They simply state that in construction there are always delays. In the meanwhile I am paying for a mortgage and rent as the house can't be completed until we get the outside doors installed. Stay away from these guys, I ordered my Milgard windows from HomeDepot, there was a mistake and they made good on it and got me the right ones within 1.5 week. Dixieline is real crap-shoot. save your self the agrevation

Needed some chain for the roof top tent! Also needed a floaty keychain for the boat!

Needed some chain and locking adapters! The customer service was not only fast and professional, she was quite enjoyable company! I have been i this store for many reasons. They already seem to have what you need. From tools, lumber, paint, plumbing, gardening and much more. If they don't have it in store they will also help you order what you need. Everyone in the store seems very knowledgeable in all departments! I will be a continuing customer of this location!

Home Depot's 2x4 cost $3.35 vs $6.64 at Dixieline. The workers at HD are generally friendly, too.

I needed some 2x4s to build a saw horse as I have to paint some doors and bought brackets to make a DIY saw horse. I usually go to Home Depot in Encinitas but figured I'd support the business right in my own town. From their flyers their prices seem competitive. I went into the Solana Beach Dixieline and asked where to order lumber and was told at the customer service desk. A long-dark-haired, zaftig woman with a very unfriendly face asked what I needed. I told her what I wanted but she didn't offer any information about cost. I finally asked and she said 2x4s were $.83 per linear foot but she didn't tell me what the 1x2 I ordered cost. She handed me paperwork and sent me around back to the lumber yard. I don't expect Suzy Sunshine when I go into a store, but it would be nice to have someone who smiles, chats, volunteers information and has a generally customer-centric attitude. This was not that person. It ended up costing a bit more than I expected. $83 per linear foot means $6.64 per 8 foot length of 2x4. When I got home I checked Home Depot and the same item is $3.35. I paid nearly double the Home Depot price for exactly the same thing, and got served some bad attitude and unfriendly interaction for the premium. Lesson learned. Next time I just go to Home Depot. I calculated my order, which cost almost $32 at Dixiline, would have cost about $16.22 at Home Depot in Encinitas (Encinitas has a 7.75% sales tax vs 8.75% in Solana Beach). Someone at Dixieline needs to fire some people and check their pricing. I won't be going back. PS - the young guy in the lumberyard who cut my 2x4s for me was helpful. Kudos to one nice employee.

Then I went back upstairs where the actual plumbing specialist helped me pick out the correct part. The customer service here is excellent. It's so close to my house that I prefer going there instead of a big store like Home Depot. I may pay a little more sometimes, but the convenience, helpful staff, and friendly service make it worth it. Usually, they're right and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend this store for both customer service and convenience.

But I was met with a completely unnecessary comment when I needed help the other day and it felt crappy enough that I will find somewhere else to copy my keys and get screens and random items moving forward. I had just gotten a skin cancer treatment on my face and I had to drive to run some errands. I realized I needed more protection than I had planned and felt like I was getting too much sun on my face so I stopped at CVS then the hat store looking for a face covering. The man at the gift shop down the street said Ace will probably have them and I was excited because i thought, 'they usually have everything you can think of' and I was hopeful. I popped in the door and the woman who asked what I needed felt the need to Covid shame me for asking for a face mask. I was trying to describe a face shield and she responded with, 'like the one's people were wearing during Covid' and I (was simply excited that that meant she knew what I was taking about) said, 'yes, exactly that. Like sunglasses for your whole face' she proceeds to roll her eyes and tell me that 'Covid is over that's not a thing anymore, you don't need it and really we never even needed masks' I was a little thrown off but was trying to ignore that this just turned into something totally unnecessary. I said, 'I need it for the sun protection' and she looked at me like I was making it up and said well we have regular masks if that's what you need but we haven't had any of that Covid stuff for a long time now' 'I never mentioned Covid, she brought it up and made it very awkward' I was just thrown off and felt embarrassed that we were talking about Covid when I was simply looking for a face shield. How I felt about Covid was none of her business and she certainly didn't need to make me feel like I just jumped back 6 years and was being shamed for wanting a mask. I hope you never have skin cancer and have to deal with it. If someone wants a mask for whatever reason there's no need to bring up Covid, there's a lot of other uses for masks. I just stood there stunned because I was so confused how the conversation got so awkward when I was looking for a face shield for my own health reasons. I would have asked for bandanas or other masks but the way she was looking at me I felt like I just needed to leave because I was in disbelief that this person was trying to make me feel ridiculous because in needed protection for my skin cancer. I'll take this down in a few days because I don't need to damage your business but I feel like someone should know how ridiculous this was. It's probably on video if you have cameras. It was between 1030-1115am on Friday. The woman has worked there for many years. It's fine to have your own opinion on things but don't make someone feel bad for whatever they need. It's a store. You usually have a great selection of shade hats and honestly I'm pretty sure I've seen these face shields with the hats in the recent past. I never asked for Covid masks and if you must know I agree it was a scam but I wore masks because at the time I was living with a family member who had cancer and I didn't want to get them sick with anything wether Covid was real or not. It just felt crappy on top of feeling crappy from the treatment I'd just gotten on my face. I'm sure I looked ridiculous with my big hat and scarf, I already felt ridiculous but protecting my skin is what mattered. Please be more compassionate, if you're a sales person it's none of your business why someone wants an item, I could have found something helpful in there but instead I immediately felt confused and unwelcome in a store I've spent a lot of $ in over the years. You never know what someone is going through. It's just so weird when people you deal with regularly and feel like you're all part of the community can make you feel like an outcast with an eye roll and unnecessary assumptions. Good luck with that kind of customer service!

The purpose of most reviews is for you to choose where you shop, but unless you drive to Home Depot or Lowe's, or to another Ace Hardware 10 miles away, it's Denault's Ace Hardware. So it sort of doesn't matter what I say in this review. You'll go there when you need what they sell. It is distressingly common for reviewers to downrate a store because they once had bad service there. "I'm giving it 3 stars instead of 5 because this morning I had to wait 6 minutes to get my paint mixed." Sheesh, people. Look at the big picture. I live about 1 mile from this store, and I've probably been to it 50 times. I've never had any trouble getting someone to help me or answer a question, and if I did have trouble, I'd be patient, because the wait is faster by far than driving somewhere else or ordering it from Amazon. Great store. Great location. Great selection of merchandise and great use of their limited square footage. Denault's Ace Hardware is a treasure. I told the Hanks employee that I'd never be able to find that 1.5 inch metric screw in all those 100's of drawers. He said "Well, I'm here for you!" I went to San Diego Ace Hardware in Clairemont Square, where they were charging 95 cents for each same metric screw, vs Hank's 27 cents. I said NO, not paying $2 for two 1.5 inch screws!!! Ace employee said it was expensive because that is how much a METRIC screw costs. I took one of the screws back to Hanks 2 weeks later because it was too short. Hanks happily gave me credit for the 27 cents so I could trade it for a screw half inch longer for only 5 cents more, or 32 cents, when Ace wanted 95 cents for a shorter one. Hanks gave me great service! So 1 Yelp star for ACE's 95 cents per 1.5 inch metric screw, so overpriced!
