I arrived home from vacation last Saturday evening and when I turned to water ON discovered the water pressure regulator had failed (crack in diaphram). Home Depot was still open and they had the same brand model in stock, which was a small miracle. Nicholas in the Plumbing department was extremely helpful and friendly. Thank you Nicholas! This may be long because it describes multiple issues with the Goleta CA Store 1. 2 years ago we ordered pergo flooring thru your assistants. We also set up installation thru HD. First they filled the order with the wrong color. Second the installers were awful and we finally had to use another installer after weeks of complaints. 2. 2 months ago we ordered more pergo thru your staff. The day before my installer was to pick it up, I went to the customer order desk went over the order to verify it was all there yet when he showed up the order was screwed up. Supposed to have 2 boxes of t molding and 5 of trim. Only 1 box of t molding! And they did not have my guy Check off the delivery. So we had to reorder which took 2 extra weeks to get delivered. And since it was weeks after the pergo had been installed I will have to pay an extra $120 BECAUSE OF YOUR MISTAKE. 3. This Monday I went to return product we didn't use. It took 90 minutes to do this because 3 different associates had no idea how to return product. It took a 4th associate to complete it. Btw when I was there someone called into the store and No one picked it up for at least an hour! 4. Today I went to buy a sprinkler. When I got to where they were all of the product was covered in bird shit! When I checked out I reported that health hazard to the checkout person. Their answer was "there was nothing they could do about it". What hell, clean it up! Then I tried to call in to talk to a manager and after 45 minutes without anyone even picking up the call I gave up. Your management and training is among the worst I've ever experienced. read more

I've shopped here for years, as a property manager I'm constantly in looking for random things. I have NEVER had a problem finding a helpful, friendly staff member. In fact, yesterday there were so many staff members working busily and working hard. The guy helping people check out was actively out looking for people in other lines to help and was super friendly and chatty. Appliances purchases - Washer/Dryer. My family was delivered a new washer/dryer 7/22. One week later the dryer stopped working. After being redirected to various phone numbers and long hold times, I was finally put in touch with correct department. They scheduled an appointment to have someone repair or replace. Waited all day, no show. Called back spoke to a Manager, another appointment was made. No show again. Weeks later and on the third appointment, we still have a no show & no call to repair our brand new appliances. Please someone at Home Depot message me, this is a very, very poor customer experience. We continue to be in a two months long living hell with them that has included multiple order delays, multiple failed promises of the right product arriving, multiple shipments of the wrong product in the wrong amounts being delivered, hours upon hours upon hours trying to reach any customer service associate or manager on the phone and in person, and multiple occasions of clueless employees who don't know how to access our order number and return wrong product. Most recently we just waited 14 business days for what we were guaranteed were going to be tile from the correct dye lot... AND IT WAS, ONCE AGAIN, FROM THE WRONG DYE LOT. We can't cancel our order and source the tile from anywhere else because it's made exclusively for Home Depot. We continue to be out of our house and remain in a holding pattern to finish flooring our house after an order we initiated over two months ago. This store is THE WORST EVER BUSINESS for accuracy, timeliness, and support. Their incompetence is limitless. In particular I'd like to highlight the disrespect and incompetence of Rob, a manager at the store, who promised us the correct dye lot/size tile in 14 business days and now REFUSES TO TALK TO US ON THE PHONE TO EXPLAIN WHAT HAPPENED. If you buy an appliance, or anything else at The Home Depot, do NOT buy the installation service they offer. They subcontract to the lowest bidder, and that's what you get. They are truck drivers that guess at how to install your product. When it goes terribly wrong, and your item is ruined, you are not able to sue The Home Depot, only the contractor they sold the job to. We just relearned this lesson the hard way at the Goleta, CA location. Don't count on getting your ruined appliance replaced either. They do not care. A really dirty trick by a heartless company. Wind the clock back to the Sunday of the 2020 Thanksgiving break. You know Home Depot on that day is always filled with hectic home owners who procrastinate till the last moment before they have to set their feet into the sale-mode Home Depot to buy the necessities, so their houses won't fall apart for another year. We checked out the shades we liked, and stood in line for 15+ minutes. Every customer was making purchases and/or consulting, and you could see that the specialists were overwhelmed. Usually, no one would care for customers still in line. After all, you don't know if they are going to purchase anything, or they are just gonna bother you with their endless questions that they can find answers by googling. Unlike any other 3 specialists on duty that day, John acknowledged our presence when we were still in line with a warm hi. Another 10 minutes in line, he was very frank and told us that there would be no way he could process our orders today because the previous customers still had unfinished business. Then, he gave us his card, and said that we could email him about the purchases and that the promotion wouldn't end for another day. As millennials, we couldn't be happier about the chance to do everything online. We went home and wrote the email, figuring that worse case scenario, if he doesn't write back, we would just go back to the store on Monday. But John did write back. Can you imagine with all the hectic business going on, he still checked his email, and wrote back?! He scheduled a phone call with us that evening, when we made the purchase. This saved us a trip from the Home Depot! Even better was John's professionalism: calling a total stranger at 7:45 pm on Monday was not a fun thing to do after all. He answered all of my questions with patience, helped me choose a cheaper substitute that looks almost the same with our original selection, and confirmed with me that I had all the measurements done correctly. It was a 30-minute phone call, and he was nice and patient all the way through. We received everything as John mentioned in the call (so accountable), and they fit our windows nicely. I sort of live at Home Depot lately and I have come to know many of the staff and the store very well. Yes, it is large and surely that can be over whelming. In my experience, I would say that 75-80% of the employees are happy to help and are knowledgable about their department and beyond when questioned about a product. The most standout employee of the entire store in my experience to date, has been De Sean in the paint department. De Sean was incredibly patient with me day after day, week after week, of purchasing paint samples before I made my final big paint purchase for all the interior and exterior paint for a 4 bedroom 3 bath house. He gave me tips about selecting the correct finish, helped me find the appropriate tools to complete my projects, and steered me in the right direction regarding primers to ensure the job will last. Even on days when his department was understaffed and he was forced to work a double shifts to pick up the slack, his moral did not falter. He continued to work fast, efficient, and friendly. He is a true asset to Home Depot. Jaison in the Window/Door department has also been quite helpful. I purchased 11 new Milgard windows to replace the windows in my recently purchased home, and he walked me through the process with knowledge and thoroughness. I am little disappointed in Milgard as my order has since been delayed three times with no explanation or communication from the manufacturer. When I call Milgard, they tell me to call my vendor (Home Depot in this case). When I call Home Depot, they tell me to call Milgard. I have been given the complete runaround and when you're spending thousands of dollars on a product that Home Depot describes as top of the line it's discouraging. I would love to see Home Depot streamline their process with Milgard to improve customer satisfaction on custom orders. One of the things I value most about Home Depot, is their diverse and expansive inventory. Almost every home repair/remodel need has been met in terms of inventory, which is an immense relief when you need a tool, part or product on the fly in a small town like SB. They also have a fair and reasonable 90 day return policy. If something does not work, does not fit, or whatever, just return it for a full refund. You can buy with ease with a refund policy like that. read more

I received excellent customer service on the floor. My 2-star​ response is due to the check out procedure. Currently,​ we are in the ​ "Safer at Home" mode for California due to Covid19. I waited in line outside The Home Depot standing on the red tape to keep my social distance from those around me. During check out all that was available was self check out. Once again I waited in line standing on the marked tape to keep my social distance. Upon checking out one of the employees was being very impatient with a customer who was having trouble with the self check out the ​handheld ​scanner. When it was my turn to purchase my items I did not want to pick up the scanner. I asked the employee who was wearing gloves to scan my items for me. She spoke to me as if I was a child " P I C K U P T H E S C A N N E R" I told her I was not going to pick up the scanner after other customers had used it and since she had gloves could she please scan my items for me. I was met with a "huff and a "puff". Why would I want to touch a handheld​ scanner after 100​ people had touched it that day?! Come on Home Depot! You should have employees scanning items for people and helping with the touch screen. I dont usually leave reviews but the situation warrants it. I was doing a garage clean out and bought some shelves online for pickup along with some storage totes. I placed the order may 1st. The totes were picked up within 24 hours with the drive up pick up option, very easy and no problems. So I figured with the shelves it would be the same. Nope, they were coming from another store to this one, thats fine I can wait a few days. Waited over a week, still that was fine. When I picked them up finally I noticed they only loaded 1 box into my truck..... So I asked if both shelves were in the box with all the parts. I was assured by all 3 of the employees that it was correct. When I left I started hearing noises from the bed of my truck so I pulled over. The box was so thrashed the parts were coming out! I did a quick check and saw that there was not both shelves or equipment in the box as i was told. I called back and spoke to a young lady, she instantly started giving me attitude and telling me that I was given everything correctly. I kept telling her that it was not right and I wanted what I payed for. Finally she offered to call me back after looking in to it. About half an hour later she called back, much nicer this time, and told me that yes they found the other box I was missing. I promptly went back to pick it up. This box also was damaged and still had parts missing. So all and all I have 1 1/2 shelves with damaged shelves (the wood) and bent poles all around and still am missing parts to complete my project. I am beyond disappointed in the service all around. I was able to make the parts I did have work for the project by building the other half of the shelf with wood. 1 star for broken and missing parts, horrible customer service and zero resolution. read more

I went there to get 2 things, a wide putty knife to help me cut in on a pending painting project, and a 2 foot by 2 foot garden border that was listed on the website as "2 in stock". Not only did HD have neither, but spectacularly so. There were only 1 size (unworkably large) putty knife on the array of 12 wall prongs for putty knives. The HD website stated the garden border was listed as 2 in stock both 90 minutes before I arrived at the store and 24 hours before. When I called to check on this, I was told that the website quantities are "not up to date". By listing them, the HD is indeed implying that they are there, and wasting customer time at $6/gallon making us drive to the store. This smells like bait and switch. read more

Several weeks ago I came into Home Depot Goleta and bought a dishwasher. I paid to have it delivered, and installed. I also paid for a kit of hoses and other parts needed to install it. The dishwasher was delivered last week without the hoses and other parts required to install it. The technicians returned a week later on 10-19-23 to finish installing the dishwasher. They had some of the parts but not all the parts so they still couldn't install the dishwasher. Supposedly they are researching the problem but I can't get a firm date as to when they can install the machine. After two failed installs I am pretty fed up with Home Depot. I have paid for the machine, the installation kit, delivery and setup but my dishwasher sits in the garage useless. I also paid for an extended warranty. I hope that if I ever need service that what is going on now isn't typical of what I can expect. read more

I try to avoid Home Depot these days if possible. If you can find someone working there, it is a minor miracle if they actually know anything about their department. I have wandered around looking for people working on several occasions only to give up. I did try to order a window a while back and it took several visits to even find a staff person working that department (I guess that is limited hours and I do not mean limited to normal hours). And while the checkouts are moving quicker these days, it is at the cost of jobs. Maybe this is the future, but I think it is a bit too impersonal to scan and bag everything myself. I do give them a star for the fact that you can return about anything. It is not ideal to wait in that line (you cannot scan and return your owns stuff yet) but since they do not help with item selection, I say just buy it all, find what fits and return the rest. read more

We went to self check out to find employees checking you out anyway. We bought 75.00 worth of merchandise.
