Apart from being provided with the wrong part, I recently stopped by to pick up parts for an oil change. I bought the oil and after looking through Amazon, I found that I've been over charged by $3 per container. Same for the oil filter. I asked for a drain plug gasket and I was told that I had to buy the drain plug with it. I searched Amazon and bought a set of 10 for a much cheaper price. I asked about the military discount but the attendant refused as he stated that I had to be in active duty to receive the discount. I'm a veteran and have received discounts at many locations. I also realized that there are no active military bases in near proximity so it baffles me that they would not give a discount to a veteran. read more

How should I rate an auto parts store? In the distant past, I enjoyed going to this type of store. Now I only go if I need something. I went on a shopping spree of sorts. I was in the market for windshield wipers and Gojo hand cleaner. They had both in stock. The pluses: Easy parking. clean store, helpful employees, reasonable pricing, and they came out and installed the wipers This all made this a 5 star auto parts experience. I've been buying parts here for years and appreciate that the staff will help with minor tasks. I needed a new bulb for a headlight that suddenly stopped working. It's a quick and easy fix for my car, but is hard for me as I have arthritis. I was told that they could not replace the bulb for me AND that they were no longer allowed to help with minor repairs in California. I will not come here again. The people behind the counter are the worst. Slow as molasses, it doesn't matter how long you stand in line (if you can distinguish where the line is), if someone calls in, that takes priority. Why are people working the counter the ones who also have to deal with people on the phone? I'm standing there waiting, and waiting, and waiting and the people being "helped" are dealing with people in slow motion for some reason, a call comes in - the one guy "helping" the person, I can't tell what he's even doing but he's been with the same guy the whole time. The other person answers the phone and has a long conversation. No "can I put you on hold for a moment" so I can deal with this guy who's been standing in line forever? Nope. Just takes the call and I guess it was a long lost friend because the call went on forever and I'm standing there thinking "this is how you deal with people IN your store who are here to give you money?" If you've been to one O'Reilly store, you pretty much have been to all of them. The layouts of the stores are all pretty similar and they are easy to navigate. The aisles are marked clearly and product locations are almost always the same from store to store. As a typical male shopper - I go in a store, know what to get, pay for my item(s) and I'm out the door. Unlike Wifey would go in a store and can spend hours checking every aisle. Hope I don't sound like being a misogynist, but I believe this rings true for a lot of couples. That's why when Wifey is "shopping" in a particular store, I'd rather wait for her in the comfort of my own car. If I go in a store, it's like a straight line compared to my wife whose line meanders all over the store. I know...now I really sound like a misogynist. I'll get ready to sleep in the sofa. If you have a question about a particular item, they usually have catalogs to provide you the proper answer so you can obtain the correct part(s) you're looking for. I've been here several times and it's fast and easy. There's plenty of parking (especially shaded parking under a tree) and this store doesn't get too busy. Employees are nice and sometimes the prices here are cheaper compared to the ones in Daly City and South City. I also have a membership card so I get coupons every month from my email. They scan the bar code from my phone and they apply the savings on my purchase. Easy peasy nice and easy. read more

The person works are incompetent, first I called if they have a battery for my car and they said yes, so I came in just to find out that the battery they said have is not match to my car, and he told me he needs to order and come back at later afternoon,however as I get home, I received a message that I need to come back because they don't have the battery. I was like really you check my car three times to make sure you have the right battery. And when I'm getting my money back. 5 Stars for Johnie! I wandered in today needing some new wiper blades. Johnie saw me searching aimlessly in the aisles and came right over to help me select the right sizes for my car. He showed me the price ranges then said he would wait for me at the front after I've made my decision. He didn't hover at all! As he was ringing me up, I saw him help a co-worker at the register next to his. Then he asked me, "do you want to put these on now?" I said yes and he unpacked them and gave me my change. Then he proceeded to take them out to the parking lot to install HIMSELF! WHAT SERVICE! He gave me a tutorial, had them installed in less than 2 minutes and wished me a nice day. And perfect timing, it started to sprinkle rain as I drove away. The wipers are PERFECTLY installed. I would have been fumbling around for sure to install them but he saved the day! Second time the clerk OVERCHARGED me for items I was purchasing. What happens is they charge for TWO items if the more expensive items and hope you won't notice. Both times when I tried to return and get the issue resolved I had to argue with the person who eventually copped to making the "mistake". This is a planned ripoff and is passive aggressive behavior at its worst, and I am willing to bet they do this a lot more than folks realize. Check your receipts and proper prices before leaving or be ready to have a shitty time making it right after. I recently had issues with my battery and dreaded having to deal with it because I had just got off work and it was raining. When I arrived it was fairly busy but I was attended to in a timely matter. The guy helping me was obviously new but was being helped out by other employees. He found my battery and I asked if they could install it for me. The manager said yes and sent my casher(No name) and Justin out to help me. I was extremely impressed with Justin's knowledge and customer service. Not only did he help with the install he also thought it would be a good to test my alternator which he did. I told him about how I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to cars, and he made sure that I knew exactly what to look for and be aware of when taking my car in, and on top of that, gave me a few references. That battery was wedged in there tight. But they managed and got the old one out and the new one in. After all that time and effort on their part I offered the man a tip, but he refused. I jump in the car - I get there mr Dao (sp) an Indian fella says they don't test a night. Huh. I just called and was told they did. So. I go to leave to see if auto zone can help me. Now it's 9:06 pm I am standing in the parking lot and he is now letting a customer in.... so he can't help me but he lets his pals in after hours. Yep. This is the place not to be. Have gotten oil before no problem. This time around had to do an oil change and we got a defective oil. Didn't notice until the end of the bottle when the liquid came out very watery. Checked the dip stick and oil actually looked milky. Went back to tell O'Reillys and the said it was a "head gasket leak" which I know it's not since the old oil did not come out looking milky. They tried to push the idea it was a head gasket leak and that i need to do an engine flush ever time I do an oil change.....When I called them later on after I spoke to a tech in my service department who confirmed it's not a head gasket leak. I just wanted to know their process for defective oil issue and what they usually do in these situations. They passed me to the manager who quickly got upset and said and i quote that I was "silver spoon feed and just wanted free shit." and hung up on me. I honestly this upset me more because I don't want anything free I at least want a refund for the oil that was defective that's it at least something but they didn't offer any type of solution for the actual issue. I did call again and the second time they just put me on hold and then said the store manager wouldn't be in till monday if I wanted to speak to him. Would have waited but honestly need the car to commute so I'm not going to take a day off and loose even more money. Shitty customer service on the managers behalf and workers don't know what they're even suggesting. Train your staff and get a manger who can actually be useful and isn't a sensitive jerk. Ended up fixing the issue myself and taking my business else where $300 later.. I have never had such a shitty customer service experience like this. read more
