This is a solid Home Depot. I have visited the tool rental counter a few times already and its been a great experience every time. They know what tool I need, always check to make sure its working and show me how if I dont know and set me on my way with enough gas/oil in order to get the job done with an easy check-in process to return the equipment. I didn't buy anything today. This review is based on an associate name Mikaylah who really went above and beyond to help me look for these clearance coolers I found on the Home Depot app. I rushed all the way from Waikiki to Kapolei because I found these Igloo Polar 120qt coolers on clearance for $27. When I got to the store she saw me and asked if i needed assistance. I showed her my screenshot. We looked in the section where it would be. Then we looked in the clearance section and it wasn't there. And then we looked in the last known place on her zebra where it was last and the date said Dec 28z The inventory was wrong and it said Negative two but in my app it said six in stock. Went to purchase a Ryobi 40 volt 15" String Trimmer. Home Depot is Home Depot, you walk in and get lost in each aisle as they stock almost everything you need. Had to ask for assistance since the items were secured behind a locked shelf. Understandable due to instances where theft was huge and embarrassing for the thieves going in and leaving without paying for the items. Anyways, we waited about 5 minutes for the Employee to come and unlock the door and pass us the trimmer. I wish I'd gotten her name because she was super helpful and courteous to us! She also suggested that there are attachments the are compatible with this trimmer if we wanted to get in the future. Like I said, she was super nice! The store was organized and just loaded with goodie's. Each Employee greeted us with a hello as we made our way down the shopping list. The store was busy but, the self checkout area as well as the cashier's were fast. I would recommend this location here in Kapolei to anyone that needs anything to do with home improvement. The Home Depot has the most up to date on line inventory I have seen in real time. On Saturday 8/29, I was looking for Eco Flow solar generators. The Home Depot website told me Town was out and as I was driving to Pearl City it updated and said this location was out. Yet Kapolei still have inventory. I made the trek from Hawaii Kai. The crew at Kapolei was epic. I met David the manager and he and his crew let me share my knowledge of the product with customers. It was a really fun trip to Home Depot. I left feeling valued and even more prepared as I scored the eco flow I wanted to add to our set up at home and other families scored theirs as well. read more

She would not even look at me and my husband, never smiled, was so short in her responses, did not know answers to our questions but wouldn't go ask anyone else, and threw our things around when scanning. She is the last person who should be the face of customer service! Get the girl some training or move her out of customer service into a role where she doesn't speak to people. People at Lowe's don't act like that. They actually like their jobs - and helping people! We are going there from now on. read more

This is an update on their military and contractor discount "policy." In the past you could show them your ID and get the discounts however times have changed and you now have to get verified. I believe I did mine through the Home Depot app. They send you to another portal where you can upload ID and fill out all this information. With that, they verify that you are indeed who you are with those credentials. On the app you merely show them your scan code on the app and your discount is given. I went through this process and was able to have the scan code on my app. My husband not so lucky. The verification process didn't verify him even though he is the one in the military. He usually gives them my number when checking out and the award is given. Problem is, if he shops online the discount won't be awarded unless I order it in my app - then the discount is already given. I love that I can purchase things on the app and have it picked up elsewhere. I can purchase a sink and have it picked up on Guam or Texas. This is still my favorite hardware store to shop at. read more

Home Depot for da DEALAGES! Honestly, whenever I wanna do something around the house, but am unsure of how to do it, I normally shop at City Mill. City Mill is a great hardware store to go to if you wanna shop local, & support local, And as an added bonus, if you're unsure about doing a task, normally, City Mill will have a knowledgeable sales associate on the floor who is able to share his/her knowledge with you. When one shops at Home Depot, more than likely you'll be hard press to find someone on the sales floor to help you, so if you have some kinda task you need to do, ya better know how to do the task before even considering buying stuff from Home Depot. As for me, I find Home Depot a great place to shop if you're looking for great prices on hardware items, and if I already know how to do the task, finding someone to talk to is not an issue. On my recent adventures to Home Depot, I just so ended up in Kapolei as I was actually fixing/doing some work inside of Home Depot. After I had completed the task, I remembered that I had to buy some concrete to fix some cracks & holes in a rock wall at my house. While looking at the concrete section of Home Depot, it is pretty mind blowing at how many variations of concrete that a hardware store can offer. Unsure of what type of concrete I actually needed, I was lucky enough to find a sales associate on the sales floor, and upon showing him some pics on what I was trying to accomplish, he quickly suggested to me on which type of concrete would do the job. Home Depot is a place our family frequents often. I love their selection of plants - from flowers, herbs and even a section where plants are native to Hawaii. Why get a bouquet of flowers that will die in a week when you can get a plant with flowers that will keep the bloom for months! We come here to buy everything from paint, appliances, light fixtures, doors, wood and much more. I have even used their rental section for tools and carpet shampooer. Shop at this location often and for many years. We are renovating one of our rental properties and my husband went to the store on Saturday 3/21, waited at the cabinet area for 30 minutes. Associate was at her desk with another customer but did not acknowledge my husband. With no help, we made an appointment on line for the next day. Sunday morning we arrived for scheduled appointment. Waited at the desk for 15 minutes. Went to adjacent department to page for assistance. Pearlita finally came. Did not apologize for wait. Was not even aware of appointment. Instead of greeting she asked what we needed. Explained we had an appointment and need to order cabinets. She continued to search her emails and appointment calendar, only until she seen my husbands appointment did she address us. Even then, she her first comment to us was " we dont take customers measurements l, we schedule home visit for that". So why make an appointment? She than said its because it would take too long and we only have a 1 hour appointment. We asked about in-stock cabinets inwhich she rolled her eyes and said limited quantities. He asked about sizes, and she seemed agitated. As we tried to convey our needs, she was standoffish and rude, so we stood up and left. Asked for a manager, who was busy. Left my name and number for manager John to call me. I am now sitting at Lowes Waikele while my husband is designing a new kitchen with their sales rep and still no call back from a manager. read more

Ernie in the garden department was amazing!!! We came in with a few questions about our Dewalt power washer because it wouldn't start. He gave us advice about what to look for from the type of gas to the oil levels and everything in between. He took the time to show us everything we needed and explained it. He even walked us up to the register. As soon as we checked out, he met us at the exit and walked with us to the car so he could take a look at the machine itself. I needed to drain my AC drain line outside of the house. I bought a wet/dry vacuum, but the drain lines outside of the homes these days are really designed to be as inconvenient as possible for DIY maintenance. So I went yo Home Depot to try to get a custom fit. A service crew member "Fortune," helped me out tremendously. She made sure I got the right fittings and even cut a pipe to my specifications for the short elbow fixture so that I fit my two elbows together with an extension. Excellent customer service even though it was super busy and other customers were bugging her as she was helping me. Fortune kept her cool and definitely deserves an award for great customer satisfaction! The cost of the parts wasn't too bad. I got a wet/dry vacuum, a long extension cord, and all of the custom fittings for an easy $150! read more

I've been coming to this location for a few years now and I have really enjoyed the customer service. While I have had some issues along the way they have bent over backwards to take care of me and correct any issues that I have. Just ensure to talk to an associate and ask all of your questions. Come prepared with measurements and knowing type of outlets you have for appliances (3 or 4 prong), etc. Ensure you know what you need for any new appliances down to the cord, vent, ducting, tape, etc. This helps especially when your items are delivered and they go to install it. Also, ask if there are any rebates or other offerings going on. If it wasn't for another customer prompting me to ask I wouldn't have known that there is a $250 rebate now on refrigerators by the state right now. read more

I come here for the plants. I'm talking sometimes super rare plants like the Bat Flower (Tacca Chantrieri). I still kick myself for not getting them 3 years ago when I saw the white ones, which are very hard to find. I bought some ridiculously priced bulbs online from a bulb company for $25 each but they were delivered to me dead, and I had to file a claim with the company that sent me dead items. If I would have just bought the alive plant in a large, pretty pot at Home Depot for $33 it would have saved me all the headache, the shipping and the hassle! I just purchased some calla lillies (they have black ones too), pitcher plants, rare double white Tahitian gardenia, the Kula Gardenia (also rare) and several Hollywood Hibiscus "Earth Angel" - which is a pure white hibiscus that I've been trying to find for over a year...right under my nose at the local Home Depot!!! This location also has a large selection of orchids, anthuriums, air plants, succulents, annuals, perennials, vegetables, herbs, hanging basket flowers, fruit trees, ti leaf, exotic plants (nepenthes, tacca), seasonal plant items like lilies and hydrangeas and native Hawaiian plants. Do you need a HUGE bag of perlite? How about vermiculite? You won't find these kinds of large bags at Lowe's. If you are wondering what I am doing with such bulk items, I am too. What the heck did I get myself into!! I have to hide more plants from the husband too. You know you have a problem when you have to hide. I hoarded so many plants I cannot walk a straight line on my patio. I have to step over things and walk in a side-ways zig zag pattern. It's really a pain in the Pilea Peperomioides. Another interesting note. I had FOUR employees say HI to me. WOW blown away. And they were really nice too, like they wanted to really see me. Maybe it was because I had $203 worth of plants and potting mixes in my cart and they knew I was helping to pay their paychecks. Not sure. I went to rent a truck at the Pearl City Home Depot but they didn't have one for the day that I needed so I booked a vehicle at Kapolei. The rates are very good for the pickup I got and the truck which was big enough to carry the load that I was picking up. The only complaint I have is that the vehicle was really dirty. The entire inside of the vehicle was covered in red dirt and looked like it was never cleaned. The outside of the vehicle was OK as they want to show a clean vehicle on the road. I hope someone from the management side reads this as you really need to clean the interior of the truck. I'm satisfied with everything else except how dirty the interior was. I think you could have someone wipe down the interior and clean the windshield when the vehicles are returned. I rented from other vendors where their vehicles are just as clean as my personnal vehicle. read more

If I was going to rate them 4 days ago, it would've been -1 star. In fact, i considered filing a complaint with the BBB. However, not only did one of the sales people make it 'right', he went above and beyond to ensure I was taken care of. Bottom line- my order for a patio door plus installation was quoted wrong. WAY wrong. I didn't realize until I got home that it was done so poorly. I'm not a contractor, what do I know? I remembered the measurements they told me, and something just sounded off. I remeasured and realized they were wrong. They quoted me a special order door, which was WAYYYYYY more expensive and not necessary. I went back to the store about 2 hours later and ran into an employee in millworks, Jon. He wasn't the sales person who helped me earlier but he listened to the problem and looked into it for me. He made sure the order was canceled and promised me he'd call in a few days to correct everything. "Yeah, right" I thought, "he's not calling back". Well, he called back. Corrected the quote to less than half of the original. This employee went above and beyond for me, and he didn't have to, he just chose to. Jonathan Kim, in millworks. I know I have a black thumb, and I can kill any plant on planet earth. I might have a chance on Mars, but we'll never know! I try to be an eco friendly semi tree hugger, but I am the bringer of death to my oxygen providing friends *le sigh*. Every now and then I call different locations to check if they have crown plants. I normally don't have any luck. When I finally got our hands on a branch, we thought we'd try to see if we could do something with it. Unfortunately, even though I kept it far from my reach, it died by the time we got its home and food. But fortunately because of that visit, I found the plant we need all ready to be taken home! The employee I encountered in the garden section was very helpful. Its no secret that I can't grow a single thing that's green besides mold... I told him my problem and he walked me over to everything I should pick up. He could've told me to buy a bible, prayer and holy water for all I know and I would've done it! So, now that the shriveled stick is pronounced dead, I know I need to go back. The only reason for the one star taken was because its pretty cluttered. On my visit there were stock pallets in aisles and just an overall cramped feeling while walking around. Now wish me luck with the plant that we're soon to adopt! read more

5 December 2020 Adulting! Home Depot, like most store around here, is always busy and today was no different! From the moment I pulled into the almost-full parking lot, I knew inside would be busy. At the entrance, there is an employee asking customers if they need help finding anything.  Further in the store, other employees can be seen helping other customers.  I followed the sign to the bathroom/ plumbing aisle in search of a dual flusher toilet button. After browsing unsuccessfully for a few minutes, I flagged a nearby associate Dee for help. She kept walking but informed me she was helping another customer. After a few minutes, she reappeared and asked if I still needed help, which I did. At this point I was in the next aisle over so Dee walked me to where the item should be. However, they were out. She informed me of the brand they typically carry and told me to check for it on Home Depot website. Overall, Dee was very helpful. The store itself seemed fully stocked with other items, it was clean and well lit, and there where store associates visible all throughout the store. My mother picked up some cleaning items so we had to chech out. Check out was easy though,  there were no long lines which was surprising given the large number of customers in the store. Two cashiers near the door had no wait so we checked out without having to wait long. One bonus I especially like about buying from Home Depot is their military discount. Just show your military ID and get 10% off your purchase. read more

Since I've been blessed with such a great new neighbor, I have somewhat a new interest in gardening. I've been neglecting my "chop suey" yard with assorted trees, foliage, flowering plants and some unwanted invasive bushes for years now. My neighbor, who is retired, takes care of my yard in addition to his property. Counting my blessings. I have cool colleagues at work where I've gotten to know some of them better as time goes on. One has a luscious yard where ti leaves are grown abundantly. She found out I am in the process of redoing my yard by planting more ti leave plants around my home and gifted me LOTS of green and bi colored ti leaf stalks to grow. Counting my blessings #2. My cool neighbor planted my ti leaf stalks and friendly reminds me ti leaf plants like lots of water. It's been over 20 years since moving into my home and 2 of my 4 water hoses needed replacement. Living in town, I can drive to Home Depot (HD) in Iwilei as it's close. Sounds easy? Wrong. Since our Stay-at-Home Orders due to COVID-19, I've been trying to shop at HD at Iwilei for MONTHS. Pre COVID-19, I used to go to HD late at night where I can zip-in and zip-out but with their adjusted COVID-19 hours, I tried multiple times to go mornings, afternoons and early evenings only to circle their parking lot not being able to get a stall. I gave up. Last month for work I was in the Kapolei area and went to HD to shop around for Plexiglass shields with my contractor. I easily found parking and we shopped around. I noticed patrons and staff wore face masks and practiced social distancing. Just the other week, I found myself in Kapolei for work again and swung by to HD. To my delight I easily found parking in their spacious lot and entered the store. I reached out to a floor sales associate who gave me instructions so I made a beeline to their Garden Department. That associate efficiently navigated me to the garden hoses because I immediately found them with several options. HD pretty much has 2 different brands with each one offering different lengths. With 4 different water outlets in my yard, I went for the shortest one which also ended up being economical. I picked up 2 water hoses and headed to the check out area. With only 2 items, I opted for the self check out counter which was super easy. I scanned my purchases and paid via credit card. I was out in a flash. Counting my blessings #3. Overall, a very pleasant shopping experience at Kapolei's HD. Every morning before heading to work, I water my newly planted ti leaf plants with my new water hose. Sadly Kapolei is a far drive from my home but wouldn't hesitate to come back if I find myself on this side of the island again. NOTE: I knew I had options such a City Mill or Lowe's to get garden hoses but wanted to use a HD gift card I received in the past. Of all days I ended up forgetting my HD gift card at home the day I purchased my garden hoses. read more

I should've rang the bell Came in looking for glitter spray paint (but was too expensive so I opted out) and left with some plants instead. I always get the nicest help here and today was no exception. A very kind (and cute) guy at the self-checkout registers scanned all my stuff for me even though it's "self" checkout . Fastest I ever went through a checkout lol! I didn't get the associate's name but he was very nice and at one point I noticed him humming which I was doing also because if you know me I always hum while I shop xD, and idk why but that little moment where we were both humming made my day plus he told me to have an amazing rest of the day so I mean. Thank you sir, I will now lol. (It's been sad-girl hours for me all month so... it was nice to feel human again for a moment thanks to that associate! I literally bought plants bc that's what I used to do before I became a zombie and though the plants didn't exactly help me feel like myself again, that interaction did~ I swear at some point Home Depot's slogan was "You can do it. I have shopped at Home Depot Kapolei for years.. love the friendly greeter Michelle.. This time....I had to replace 3 windows. The sales rep helped me with the choice of window using my measurement. After installation I notice the spring tension was super strong. I went back and spoke to Isaac, showed him my receipt. He then told me I puchased the WRONG window type to go up and down NOT side to side and the tension was way off and we needed to remove the windows!! Safety hazard!! So I purchase 3 right way, side to side windows with Paul, very nice young man with great customer skills. Then i had to return the 3 windows...Cassandra at customer service gave me HASSLE FREE RETURN!! I must mention manager Brandon, gave the ok. Bert is knowledgeable and experienced with the tools and makes sure that we have everything we need for our project to ensure we're not wasting time going back and forth for missing items. I walked in the store and the person at the front that is promoting a product did not great me due to my dress attire. And later as I walked in the store another person asking customers if they needed help. The same thing happened looked at my dress attire and by passed me. She then waited until after then asked me if I needed help and I just told her no. These were both ladies. And customer service is your first priority of your job greeting customers. This is so bad that this happened. I always go to this location and I get greeted using a different attire. Don't judge people due to their appearance. read more

They're wait time is ridiculously long. They have bar code scanners when you need an associate because everything is locked, which is understandable. But when the wait is 30 mins and then it took us finding an associate for him to tell us use the bar code! So we let him know we did it showed it to him. So he gets it gives it to us!! Move on we need something else in a different department, scan the bar code. Wait. Wait some more. Wait again. Another 20mins passes. Then a heavy set female with glasses comes and is like you need something? We tell her yes!! She tells us which one then she's like you done shopping I'll walk it up front!! Like absolutely NO CUSTOMER service. And she only did it because my other half has tattoos all over and on his face, what she did not know was we own a whole roofing company.
