I purchased a gas power washer. They didn't have it in stock. So they had to order it on line. And because of that, they wouldn't give me my military discount. Then things got worse! Long story short because I have wasted enough of my life on this whole experience. We bought a LG washer. First drama was the delivery service via Home Depot showed up around 7 am without an appointment while we were sleeping. I called to Schedule a real delivery and they said I'd have to wait 2 weeks. After we spoke to the store manager who had 2 employees that worked in other departments deliver this thing and expected to put it in my garage and I was supposed to carry it down myself.So they did it and I felt really bad because the one older gentleman advised me he was in so much pain and had just returned to work that week from having a back surgery ???Wow. Unreal Home Depot would do that. At least give the poor guy a back belt. Needless to say my walls were all gashed up and so was the machine by the time it got downstairs. Uauallt the delivery guys use straps to assist in holding it up. But nothing. Then 2 months later I had an issue with the machine flooding my basement and also with it making loud aggressive noises. So I called LG and the experience was so Odd and I was going back and forth with LG. a friend suggested we call Home Depot and let hem know how we were treated by LG and see what they can do. So I called Home Depot and let the manager know what went down. They were horrified to know LG would send someone so unprofessional. Basically what happened with LG is that he preordered a part, was extremely rude. Changed he part and within 10 minutes he was done. How did he know which part to order ???? My boyfriend wanted to speak with him and he refused to get in the phone and got so rude telling me that it was all my fault because a hairpin pierced thru the pump and it was my fault. I asked him to show me and he ran out of my basement which he FLOODED with his filthy shoes and was standing on my white carpeting when I asked him to wear booties because I don't wear shoes in the house and all he kept saying was yeah yeah I have them. He was holding the booties at first and they were on the floor with his tools the whole time. I asked him to please call my boyfriend, he refused... I said sir before you leave I have my boyfriend on the line he would like to speak with you. He got on and was rude as hell and after my boyfriend asked to explain he hands me the phone and said "I am not doing this I am not here to argue with you. I am here to help". I said here to help!!??? You've already ruined my carpets, flooded my basement so bad and wasted my time because I know this machine couldn't possibly be fixed because you didn't even figure the problem. And I was right it wasn't fixed ! I asked him to leave the pump behind so I can have it as proof and he got into his LG van and rolled the windows up while I stood there waiting waiting waiting for over 10 minutes. I closed the garage door and went inside and later that evening found the pump in thrown my flowers!!! The machine was leaking worse than ever and still made the pounding noise while operating. Not cool for a machine 2 months old ! LG Also blamed Home Depot saying that they ripped the water line under he unit while they installed it and was carrying it. So Home Depot sent us a new unit and 3 days later it has electrical issues, it's loud , the doesn't run unless the hot water is on .... When it's load sensing , the hot water fills up the entire machine all the way to the top , then it stops mid load , FULL of water. It rumbles and rattles and I can hear it from upstairs. I Called Home Depot and spoke to Don our sales guy. Don advised me we have to deal withLG and was RUDE! I explained to him that we aren't allowing LG back into our home, and he said then sorry I can't help you. He gets his manager who was the woman who was initially horrified by the story and She was exaggerating soooo bad saying she sent us 3 machines, kept interrupting, told us that she is the GENERAL MANAGER. So I hung up and called the operator and asked who's the general manager and who's the district manager because I was so disgusted by this woman's attitude and Don the sales guy who was so RUDE and doesn't even let you get a word in !!!!!! They were both ultra rude. The operator put me on hold and said she spoke to her manager and that she was advised to give us the customer care hotline and I told her I wanted the DISTRICT MANAGER AND THE GENERAL MANAGERS names. She refused. I asked WHY she was refusing and she said she wasn't and that hey don't have a manager or a district manager and that Monday (on the 4th of July LOL YEAH OKAY!) a manager and district manager would be appointed to the store. I called the customer care. I advised her either I want a refund for the machine or a new one. They are refunding the money and we are going to ABT where they have respect customers and care about the customers not just take your money and that's it. If you're making a big purchase think twice because if something goes wrong, they will not help you. read more

This Home Depot has served my needs well in terms of small items to buy and for do-it-yourself projects. The problem arose as I bought an exterior door that needed to be custom made. I picked out a very specific door but the door department person entered in the wrong item number and the wrong door was ordered. It took close to a month for the door to be made and arrive at the store. Since I didn't have time to wait another month, I had to go with the door that was sent. I found out when the installer unloaded his truck with a door that I was not expecting. The staff in that particular department are incompetent. After this experience at the Randhurst Home Depot, I will be taking my business to Menard's or Lowe's which are a little farther away, but hopefully have more competent store staff that know what they're doing. read more

Not a huge fan of this specific location. Poor customer service. Many associates walking around only to approach one and they point fingers to go ask the one standing over there. On several occasions employees have told me they "don't know" the answer to a location question instead of doing what they can to find out. The 2 stars are for the supply and return policy. I picked up an air fryer which was oddly the cheapest at Home Depot this Black Friday weekend and I'm hopeful it works out. When I got there not a single employee I approached could lead me to where it was. After walking here to there and everywhere, my mom out of everyone found it for us. I've been going to this Home Depot for a few years now and am very satisfied with not only their customer service, but with the items they carry throughout the year. Home Depot is my go to store for gardening supplies throughout the spring and summer, my favorite paint supplier for home improvement projects, and any home upgrades or spur of the moment diy projects. Their employees are knowledge and always available when needed. I've bought power tools, from them too. Home Depot also honors coupons and beats prices, and have a really great return policy. If you forget your receipt, as long as you have the card you made the purchase with, you can get store credit! I purchased a Maytag gas clothes dryer less than a week ago. It was delivered and installed with over $100 worth of new parts, vents etc that are required. It took 3 hours to dry a load of clothes, 2 hours for sheets. Not oversized loads. Normal loads. I called the Randhurst store where I bought it. First the appliance department didn't answer. Then they hung up on me. Then when I described the problem they told me to call Maytag. I could literally hear the salesman dusting his hands off over the phone. DO NOT BUY AN APPLIANCE FTOM HOME DEPOT. They are happy to take your money but not to ensure your appliance works. If I could give zero stars I would. read more

This store is as good as any other when it comes to in stock items. Not so much for special orders. I ordered tile for my bathroom remodel. At the time of the order, the salesman could really give me no clue whether it would be in in 3 days or 3 weeks. In this day and age I would expect a large retailer like Home Depot would have some way to view inventory of a large vendor like Daltile. Lots of follow up later I got a tracking number and supposedly it is in the store but no one can confirm that even though the clerk never asked for identifying information. The most helpless, non- proactive special order staff I have ever dealt with. To top it off, managerial staff is inaccessible and non-responsive. read more

I was a little put out last week when I went to get a fuse for my Toro electric start lawnmower, that I purchased at HD, I was told they did not carry that size fuse and try a Auto parts store. I went there on a Tuesday picked out a washing machine. They said it will be delivered on Friday. They will call Thursday w/ approx. time of delivery. No call. By friday afternoon I called them. They tell me it won,t be delivered for another month. Out of stock. How did they not know that when I paid for it. They didn't even call to tell me. Just left me hanging. I canceled. Recently I order through internet a Toto toilet with collar. The price around $450.00 includes fee for express delivery. The estimated time for delivery was April 15th. The collar was in time delivered to my home address. The toilet arrived in April 17th and i was to pick up in April 18th. Surprise! The toilet was broken and delivered without tank! Nobody from The Home Depot tried to call me and save my time by letting me know what happen. Not even the fullish " Sorry for this, sir." The worst home depot store I ever had to deal with. Store Manager Andy Lee is unresponsive to fixing major issues with orders, deliveries, vendors. We keep getting the same round around with no solutions. Custom External doors ordered, came in done wrong. Inside doors ordered came in wrong. Delivery truck made a stain on driveway, claim filed still no solution months later. Store manager seems to have a complete lack of dedication to helping their customers.. The list of how incompetent they are goes on and on and on. Bottom line is months later we still do not have the doors or timeline for this to be fixed. I used Home Depot for siding replacement of my home. The absolute worst home improvement decision of my life. The contractors were good but took 7 weeks to complete the job. They did solid work, the finished product looked nice. The general contractor was a Home Depot employee, his name is Anthony. An absolute disgrace, he was condensending and rude during every encounter. Multiple times they ran across problems and I signed multiple contract amendments without hesitation, Anthony threatened to pull the contractors each time and to call him after the issues were resolved. I would ask for assistance in finding a contractor to repair the issues and Anthony refused to help. After the job was completed I pointed out several items that were damaged, I was promised that they would repair, several months later and none of my emails have been answered. I will never again even shop at The Home Depot! read more

I purchased Black Kitchen Cabinets and Granite Countertops which I got a colored picture of what they would look like on May 4, 2017. It took over 6 weeks to finally get the Cabinets, then, the Warehouse lost my big utility cabinet and had to order another one so that took an additional month to get. Finally, my guy was able to put the cabinets in when I was on vacation. He sent me a picture and I about died. The Cabinets had black doors on light would so basically I had two toned cabinets instead of all Black, nothing like the pictures that was given to me to show me how my finished kitchen would look. My countertops that I ordered to go with the black cabinets is gray, white, and black. I spoke with Betty, the lady whom I placed the order with and she said that it is an easy fix. All I had to do was get black panels to go over the light wood and that would be an additional $480. After arguing and getting really upset she called her manager who had her give me a discount. I purchased the panels because I want my kitchen to look right. I don't feel I should of had to pay anymore, if anything, they should be giving me money back for not getting what I ordered right and for all the trouble I went through. I will never order from them again for a big remodel project!! read more

Rude and disaffected that's all I can say about Scott in flooring. This was the third Home Depot I visited in search of floor time . Other stores had the tile but not the quantity. Visited this store waited while two associates fumbled with a display, finally decided to help me, I said the people at the Palatine checked inventory and this store had the needed amount. Well you would have thought I asked him to give up a kidney. His first response was did they call, how do refer know etc etcetera as if it were my fault I was asking about a specific tile and they had to move pallets blah blah blah. And they did not have it and to top it off it wasn't even the tile I needed. He then scurried off and disappeared. Rude and disrespectful. read more

Four times in the last year I have shopped here for a specific item that I located online first. After visiting the store, I was able to get to the specific location of the item only to find something else in its place on the shelf. After locating an associate, each time they have scanned the item, told me that the database says there "should" be 8 or 12 of the item. They then all look to the sky for some type sign from the heavens above for a hint of where in the upper stock storage rack it might be. Each time I have spoke with the manager on the specific issue of stock not being on the shelf. I have never worked a brick and mortar retail store but do understand that if the "customer" cannot see or touch the item there is a high probability that they will not buy it. What good is the HD sophisticated inventory database. I will say the associates were somewhat helpful, but none seemed actually truthful on the issue. One said that there was a possibility that the inventory may be inaccurate due to theft. The other told me that the other store in Niles and Palatine had more. Although I have never much liked Menards I have purchased merchandise there much more in the last three month than I have the "Depot". read more

Went last night to buy a grill for Dad. I live closer to Palatine but I think that store is very busy so I chose this location, as I thought it would be nicer for my mom. The kid who helped us here was pretty good though he said I would get a 15% off Father's Day sale if I order online. Turned out to be misinformation. He also said I could have the grill delivered assembled. When we were ready to pay, he said the girl at the customer service desk could put the order in. I asked her to put the order in, she said I could order it online at home myself, I again (with my elderly mother there) told her I'd like to put the order in in the store. She said she couldn't do anything there that I couldn't do online. She wasn't even doing anything. There were no other customers at the desk and she was not on the phone. ***Isn't the #1 rule of retail to not let a customer leave without making the purchase?? I could have gone across to Costco, bought a grill there and never set foot in a HD again!*** I figured I was fine doing it from home as it would get me the 15% off but like I said, it turned out to not be the case. Then I couldn't tell before I finalized my online order if it would come assembled or not. I did a chat. The Mitch chat guy was really helpful. He even took over my screens but couldn't tell. He thought it would be best if I go back to the store to place the order to make sure I get the assembly. So now I'm going on like 12 hours of TRYING to give Home Depot my money for a grill and accessories. I head over to the Palatine location this morning. The difference was night and day. Right away, I could see the employees were more mature, it felt and operated more like a regular store. I told the woman at the counter I wanted to order a grill and she was like, "no problem, what's your name, address, oh you have the sku? great." It was a completely normal transaction. It didn't take her anymore than 4 minutes, she answered all my questions and about the assembly and I got a receipt with the included assembly itemized. So, yes, she could do more than I could do at home. And either way, you're just supposed to do what the customer is more comfortable with. The biggest problem with the Mt. Prospect store is that they shouldn't staff their store with lazy, millenial, self-entitled, no work ethic brats. read more

Mostly because of the service. there is always someone available to talk to, and they are honest with the answers, they do not pressure me to buy things, what is very important to me. I am an avid DIY'er and have spent countless hours here. For a while I was there every day. 95% of the time I have had great experiences. All of the employees are friendly and will ask if you need help. The only thing I could do without are the constant pressures for a home estimate or the "today we're running a special promotion for home owners" garbage. Every time we go here the employees say hi to the kids and talk to us like we're old friends. It really is a good place overall. I am also a teacher at a high school that was building a home for a disabled veteran and this Home Depot gave $5,000 to the project. Employees also came for a day to the school on their own off days to help the kids build. That's pretty cool. It is rare to find companies that care about anything more than the great american dollar. This Home Depot is one of those rare companies that goes above and beyond for the customer. The only reason I cannot post 5 stars is because of the pressures for estimates by employees that are part of the district Home Depot and not even the store itself.
