I may not know how to hammer a nail or change an outlet cover BUT I know when an update is needed in my house, what needs to be fixed or replaced and when to purchase a new product. At Home Depot, I have purchased ceiling fans, shelving units for the basement, mop set, flip wall switches, hardware/hooks, durable (yet decorative) floor mats. In addition, I'm visiting HD more often during the summer for flowers, plants & more garden items. I may not be a contractor or carpenter who walks down the HD aisles with a particular mission & knowledge of their skill. But I can still walk into Home Depot with my own purpose & goal. read more

Frustratingly, they cannot accelerate the delivery of out-of-stock items. We needed common 4.25" crown molding, but it was out of stock. They could identify stores many miles away that had hundreds of feet available, but could not arrange transfers among stores. A well-run business should be able to restock items that customers need. read more

This isn't my usual home depot, so I've only shopped here a few times. I stopped in for a few things for my garden and found everything I was looking for quickly. The outdoor area is well set up for the season with the the overflow in the parking lot. My only issue was the selection of bamboo stakes was slim. The ones they had were a bit beat up, I bought some anyway and they should be alright but some of the ones left over... not so much. This place has an outdoor self checkout system, which was new to me but easy to use. They thankfully still have a checkout person if you need help or have questions. A bit more expensive than some local competitors but good enough for a quick shop. read more

Staff is always helpful and friendly. I did some home projects for my grandparents and the staff was extremely helpful. I brought a sample of the old wood trim color and they were able to make a color that matched pretty close to the old color. I redid all the trim and it's beautiful!!! A few weeks ago my 5 year old GE dishwasher broke (purchased from Home Depot). I don't have the extended warranty so decided to order a new kitchenaid dishwasher from Home Depot. The first available delivery date was 3 weeks out...so I have been hand washing dishes for over 3 weeks now. (I know, 1st world problems). So the delivery date was approaching...2 days to go, when Home Depot told me the delivery address was incorrect. I blame it on the auto crap on computers. Though I should have double checked it. Well they can't possibly update the delivery address. Instead, they have to cancel my order, I have to wait 3-5 business days to get my refund, and then I can place the order again They can't initiate my refund until Maytag picks up the dishwasher from their warehouse. Sounds like a ridiculous process to me. Meanwhile I'm here washing dishes by hand while $1000+ is floating out there for Home Depot to get their crap together. Beyond annoyed! I went into the store and no one can help me. Seems illegal that they hold my money for an item I do not have! May be I should report them for stealing my money. read more

We got here to pick something up and when we got logged into the computer, the lady went to go look for our tiles and she left to go somewhere else to look and we have been waiting here for her to get back and we have been here for over 30 min waiting for tiles when it would be faster to just find them ourselves. read more

I work for a retail services company. We were doing an overnight job at this particular store and at the start of the night just before store closing, my employees came in with their backpacks of tools. One employee came charging up to my guys and told them they cannot bring packs into the store. After telling him we were there to work he said he didn't care. No backpacks. So my guys took their gloves and box cutter knives out of their packs and set them down and took their packs out to the truck. I was speaking with the manager explains the job, I saw their knives and gloves laying out so I stashed them in a cabinet away from any remaining customers. This employee must have been watching from a distance and as soon as I walked away, he came up and stole their gloves and cutters and hid them away somewhere. To his credit, the overnight manager was going to replace my guys' stuff with new, but after a bit of searching he located my guys property and returned it. I can only assume my guys were racially profiled by this loose cannon as I wasn't bothered. read more

We have been going to this place since we moved to this area for small home projects. We got disappointed with them because of contractor issue. We purchased quartz countertop and planned to order tiles for backsplash. The installation went well. The countertop looks great and I decided to order the quartz as backsplash because I cannot find anything else that match with the countertop. In the backsplash quote, the contractor quoted $200 for second trip charge. I called home depot and asked there is second trip charge? The material cost includes free installation. Home Depot guy kept saying you need to contact the contractor and there is nothing they can do. I called the contractor, first they said it's for measurement. I said there is no measurement fee for the first installation. Then she changed to it's for installation. I said the material cost covers it. She said there is nothing she can change on the quote but she can find out how to handle $200. One week passed, no follow-up call! We ended up paying the fee and had the backsplash installed as I want my kitchen to be done for family visit. Shame on HomeDepot for poor management between customer and contractor. Poor communication in quote. We are the customer and we should not talk to your contractor! We are not going to purchase anything here any more!! I own a construction company and have been shopping at HD for twenty years. The service and knowledgeable associates/managers are gone and have been replaced by time clock punchers. The pro desk is the only place where competence lives. The Mundelein HD is the best example of this. The associates can be forgiven for not caring, but management is another story. All they have are puppets who regurgitate the company line and cannot think for themselves. I have runners who pick up materials and it's inevitable that we go to HD due to the convenient amount of locations and ease of phone sales, but it's only for small items under five hundred. We have moved all lumber purchase to private stores or Menards. Small items that we can order ahead of item are ordered from Amazon. I just had another confrontation with the management and the whole experience was unpleasant. read more

The staff are usually friendly, and the store layout is easy to navigate. There is usually a good selection of the things that I need. If you order online, the pick up process is generally quick. If your order is small enough sometimes it is placed in a locked, making pick up effortless. read more

Confession time: I love gardening. Every Mother's Day, my mom and I plant annuals all around her yard. We have a whole process, we know what we like, we know our sun/shade situation and we know what works. We head to Home Depot because they have a great selection of annuals in gorgeous colors at very reasonable prices. I talked Mama M. in to orange and white impatiens for the side of the house this year and they look beautiful. Same with the various shades of pink. Lovely. Home Depot also gives a great selection of hanging baskets for all levels of sun exposure. It's a treat to find pretty things that flourish in mainly shade. I just can't say enough about how easy it is to get my flowers at this Home Depot. And if you're lucky, you might even find Kyle H. checking out the Scots lawn products. Feed your lawn. I bought a washer and dryer brand new very expense...First right away the dryer started making a terrible noise. Then in a couple weeks later the hose from the washer burst loose flooding our new wood floors (from Home Depot). Now the washer starts at will without clothes in it. I used the Tool Rental at HD and my experience was excellent! I went in early on a Saturday morning to rent a Brad Nailer, Compressor and bought the necessary items to complete my ship lap project at home. The HD worker (younger guy) was very knowledgeable and helpful. The whole process took less than 10 minutes. The rental tools were in excellent condition and worked perfectly. I'm blown away by how easy the process was and how quickly I was in and out land onto my project. The return process of the tools was just as easy as well. For the rental I was charged $41 for about 6 hours. I'll definitely consider the HD Mundelein tool rental department in the future. Well done!! read more

I wanted 72 hour carpeting, and had a deadline to meet in order to surprise my husband. Once I had a carpet picked out (and she was seriously knowledable), she worked what was practically magic with multiple phone calls to warehouse, scheduling, supervisor, and more to make it happen by my requested date. Mundelein Home Depot is a great store. Charles/Burt in Electric, John/Dan in Plumbing, Vicky/Paul in Lawn & Garden, etc...there are so many good people at this location. Outside of the people I mentioned, I think it's rare to find an employee that does not want to help you. Ed, Nick, Mike, Jim, Chris, Stephanie, Shawn, Jack, Don...these people go above and beyond and in my opinion, make the store. "You can do it, we can help" is more true in the Mundelein location than at the other locations where I used to shop. Great return policy, price matching competitors, valuable workshops...all-in-all, my favorite store. Called to ask about a front load washer and how to access the filter. Was told "there are no filters". Um....seriously? Every OTHER machine I've looked at you can see the door to open. As well as every video I have watched and all the research I have done for months, ALL OF THEM have filters that need to be cleaned or the machine will have errors. I WAS going to buy from here, but not if they don't know their products. I came here to get a bag of orchid mix and the representative Melanie went out of her way to help me. First, we didn't find any on the shelf so she checked how many they had in stock. It came up that they had about 100 in stock so she checked the large crates where extra stock is kept. She had to use a forklift to get the stock from a high shelf which took some time because the forklift was a little hard to maneuver. Even though it was a lot of work for her to do, just for a bag of orchid mix, she helped me without complaint! I'm definitely impressed by the employees at this Home Depot! read more

If you are considering using their sub-contractors for flooring - DON'T!!! We spent a lot of money to purchase pergo outlast and to have them do the installation for almost our entire house in April. After 6 months, the floor started separating. We contacted Home Depot right away. The flooring contractors (Superior) sent out two different inspectors to look at it. The first one (who only had two weeks experience) said it was normal. The second one said the floor was installed wrong and half of it needed to be redone. Not happy about this but we scheduled two days for this repair last week. My husband took off work and we paid someone to help move all of the furniture and appliances out of two rooms and NO ONE from Superior showed up! We called two times before the date to confirm this!! One of these was the Day before the installation. After many phone calls to Home Depot and Superior, we still don't know when they are going to fix this mess. read more

I placed an online order on 10/3. The system displayed 3 items in stock at the Mundelein, IL location. Later that day I received a call from the store and told me that they don't have the item in stock but will have it restocked in 7 days. I told them that I can wait for 7 days. A couple hours later I received a cancellation email. I called the 1-800-430-3376 the next day. The representative told me that they have the item in the warehouse and he can waive the shipping fee and ship it to my home. He tried to place the order with the same gift cards I used. However, he talked to his supervisor and was told that it will take up to 24 hours for the amount to be credited back to the gift cards. He asked me to call the next morning. I've been checking on the gift card balance and it still shows $0 after 48 hours. I finally called them again this morning and now I was told that I need to go into the Mundelein store and have it done there in person in order to get the refund back to another gift card. Why can't the store issue an eStore Credit back to my email account? I am very unhappy to have to go through all this when the problem was caused by the Home Depot website to began with and subsequently was told with all the wrong information. read more
