You wanna go somewhere and question how anyone works there? Go here. I've gone here 4 times in the last few weeks out of proximity and it's been terrible. Their key kiosk is broken so they tell you to ask someone. Asked 5 people. All didn't know how to work their own machine. Left and went to a grocery store and got it done in 3 minutes. Asked where I could find a tool. They told me... The tool Isle. Of course but where? I asked someone for that specific tool and if they could help. The service and attitude had me change my attitude about HD. I literally live walking distace to HD, and I preferred to go to Lowe's due to the service at HD. I purchased a ready to go BBQ last weekend. The manager of the store, Chris, came out to help me load it. Unfortunately, many of the BBQs of the style I purchased were dirty and/or scratched/nicked. Chris went above and beyond to keep moving through all of the BBQs to ensure mine would be up to standard. He had another associate wipe it down before me as well! From the moment you walk into this store, you can feel a strange and uncomfortable energy. Right at the entrance, there's a sign that says "Ice Ice Baby," which feels completely out of place and honestly off-putting. When I tried to get help, the atmosphere didn't improve -- if anything, it felt worse. There was a clear sense of discrimination in the way I was treated. I can't say for sure if this is the most racist store in the Bay Area, but it's definitely competing for that title. I will not be coming back. The level of discomfort and perceived discrimination is unacceptable. I had an absolutely amazing experience at this location thanks to Manager Dee! She went above and beyond to make sure the Christmas tree I purchased would fit in my car. She helped unload items from my trunk, removed the car seats, and carefully tried every possible way to get the tree inside. When it still wouldn't fit, she didn't hesitate--she immediately offered to look into getting it delivered to me. Pricing of the mouse snack (8.95) is standard thruout the industry as it's essential a duopoly between 2 big nationwide chain stores. The only reason why I'm giving two stars is for the two youngsters who were outside helping me with picking my tree. They were very helpful. Otherwise, I would give no stars. After I picked a tree, i went into the plant section and waited about 15 minutes or more before someone came to help help. Once the helper came, I guess she did the best she could with trying to provide me with information about certain plants. She was not knowledgeable at all, unfortunately. If the plants had their perspective names on them, I could look them up on the internet. They only had the cost of the plants, which should be reviewed because the plants I wanted were dying and were not worth the cost. Rude and unprofessional service at the Newark location. We visited the Home Depot in Newark twice in the past week and a half. The first visit was to browse for a door and schedule an appointment for measurements. The second was to get a quote. Unfortunately, the person who helped us was rude, sarcastic, and very impatient. We asked a few basic questions about the door and the installation process -- as any customer would -- and he responded with annoyed facial expressions and even commented that he's "been doing this for 10 years," which felt unnecessary and dismissive. We were not questioning his experience; we just wanted to understand the process. What upset me most was how he rolled his eyes at my mom, who is almost 80 years old and the actual customer. That kind of disrespect is completely unacceptable. We left feeling unwelcome and disappointed. We won't be coming back to this location anytime soon, if ever. 2 stars for location. read more

Omar, who I think was the manager based on his leadership skills in the gardening/nursery section went above and beyond to help me! He was busy working, but noticed as I was leaving and asked if I needed help. He was able to locate what I was searching for right away, asked more qualifying questions which led me to happily purchase more than expected, and even retrieved a cart for all the merchandise since I was with my toddler and had my hands full. I felt so welcomed and comfortable as a beginner gardener, and excited tot take on more projects thanks to Omar's help. Five star customer service! The plants I purchased were great and the value was perfect. Home Depot beat Lowe's on all metrics in this case! I called to make sure they got the 12V battery I wanted. They said that there was one in stock. But in fact, there wasn't any decent 12V batteries in their inventory. If you are looking for in-house materials that you can carry with you right away, then this is a good store. If you are looking for deliveries, not so much. My review is about a shitty delivery I had. For example: If the delivery window falls under 1-5pm, (email confirmed it too, this was the main ask as I wouldn't be home till 1230pm so I set the window of delivery 1-5pm) there is still a chance they will head over to you place 10am, which might be a good thing. It can be a bad thing if you are at work and unable to attend. The delivery window, is not the a delivery schedule as the delivery folks are a 3rd party. //Below are pics of my first scheduled window delivery, and then the second is the "all-day delivery," for which the times are off, and they can not do anything about it and assured to no worry about it. // They use 3rd parties for deliveries (who are not at all professional when you speak with them on the phone) home depot majority of the time, have no control over them in terms of delivery and routes. Even if you make a note that delivery is preferred in the evening. They will still show up at 10am based on what is convenient to them. Customer service: not so good. I escalated this issue, but they have no control over the third party. Then, I requested an email summary of what issues we had from the customer support rep in Atl. Got a call from homedepot store for rescheduling in that call they mentioned delivery window is the actual schedule so 1-5pm is when I can expect the delivery, not the rough estimated delivery window time - which completely contradicts what I was told on the phone by the customer service rep (because they dropped the ball in the first scheduled delivery, I specifically mentioned no one is home till 12 so 1-5 works it was also in the email so it was in the system and these guys show up at 11am I dont know if delivery folks wanted to just make extra $$ in going to my place and stating we went and no one was home, bcuz they bill homedepot) such a huge inconvenience rather amzon if possible or just go to other stores. NEGLIGENCE IN ABUNDANCE. These morons had 12 12 feet long rebar on a cart smack in the middle of the entry, no red flag alerting people walking in. The rebar was invisible with the floor and sticking out so far I walked right into it. Left me with a huge gash in the middle of my lower leg, bleeding everywhere. WTF is wrong with you people. My husband and I decided to get a few things done around the house and drove over to HD the parking lot looked like a concert or they were giving free Disneyland tickets away... No way, no how we were going in... The social (physical) distancing didn't look like it could be followed with that many people in there. Lots of parking - some Home .Depots are so popular - this one is less so. Maybe housing in the area is newer and has fewer problems than in other cities. Less crowded and lots of help. Very organized and clean. Tool rental at this location. Not all locations offer this. Its great to have the best possible tool for the job and just rent what you need for four hours or a day. I've never felt so disrespected in my life by any establishment before, ever. This review is directed more towards this trailer park, smoker's cough sounding, nonstop gossiping employee at the lumber section named DENISE. We bought 272 feet worth of moulding that we cut ourselves. 17 pieces of 16 feet, cut in half to be exact. This woman, Denise was bragging about her skills that she can calculate in her head and came to this conclusion that it was 280 feet (8 feet more than what we had). My girlfriend looked at me and told her wait a minute, we need to calculate it too then. Denise, this rude, aggressive and impatient employee became irate and became condescending. "You can calculate all you want but that's what it comes down to." We felt rushed. She wouldn't let us calculate on our own, so we asked to put it on hold since she wouldn't stop saying condescending things while we tried to figure out the price. We aren't slow movers or anything, this whole interaction was literally only like 3 minutes. When we asked to put it on hold, she said "You cut all that and you want to put it on hold!?" Well, 1) she can't calculate properly despite her saying "she's different from the rest because she calculates in her head" 2) the price of the moulding was $.64 per foot and she put $0.80 in the computer 3) she was very impatient and condescending 4) SHE ACCUSED US OF BEING F*CKING THIEVES. She said "if you don't pay it up it'll be marked as missing and you'll be on camera". Seriously?? Here's the best part. While we were checking out with another employee (a much kinder, non-accusatory one) named Ayelie, this trailer trash smokers voice named Denise literally told like 3 customers about our situation loudly and kept looking at us. The funny thing is we bought the damn things in the end, and as we were leaving the store she was STILL talking about us while looking directly at us and gossiping. What horrible customer service and I've seriously never had such an experience like before. I didn't even ask about my Military Discount because she might offend me even more about it. What an embarassment of an establishment. Not only will I never shop at this Home Depot again, but I probably won't shop at any Home Depot for MANY years to come. Why is this Home Depot so poorly rated? I like coming here, especially for the gardening section. So many interesting herbs, flowers and succulents and the ones I have bought have stayed alive and not died quickly. It's always very clean and well maintained as well. The only times it's taken long is when I buy wood and have to wait to get it cut, that can take awhile if there are other people waiting. I came to get screen door mesh recently and the price was so good for a huge roll. Large selection and variety of screens, I saw a mesh repair kit but it's so easy to fix may as well just replace the whole thing. read more

Brought a GE refrigerator after seeing it at this store, however, purchase was made online. It was 3 weeks before delivery could be made I was not at the rental property when delivery was made. A handyman making repairs signed for the delivery. When I arrived at the house the following week, I found the refrigerator sitting in the dining area, as the appliance was to large to fit under kitchen cabinets. I contacted HD online, and was told returns had to be made within 48 hours. They suggested calling the Fremont store, which I did and spoke to two different managers. The second manager said because 48 hours had elapsed, they would not accept a return. He then offered cash credit of $200 which I agreed to. The manager lied as the cash credit was not made. Even though the the season is still cold in December, we didn't find much selection compared to the other Home Depot stores in the nearby cities. However we found some Christmas sale items. The self check out line was pretty easy and not to crazy of a wait during our visit. Unrelated to the store, there was a guy chasing us down in the parking lot to buy his fruits. We already told him we didn't want any when we exited the store. Once we got our car packed up, he came by to the side of the car asking multiple times why we wouldn't buy his fruit. I had been wanting to change our kitchen cabinets for a while now but couldn't find a good designer and quality materials to go with. We had been around looking for all stores except HD, I finally went into HD and met Harish Jain, he listened to my needs and worked with me in redesigning our small kitchen. At first I just wanted everything in the same layout and just change to new cabinets, but Harish suggested we move the fridge over to another side, we had to spend extra 3K for the electrical upgrades but it all went well and I like my new kitchen better now than before. I highly recommend Harish Jain if you shop at HD Newark. He is easy to work with, gives great customer service and most importantly, he listens to your needs and gives you time to process things. We went with Thomasville Classics, shaker style white- they all came after 6 weeks order, I can say by Gods grace- no item was damaged or broken, there was just a small cabinet drawer hardware that got loose but my installer fixed it. My countertops is still pending....but so far the cabinetry is of good quality MADE IN USA and the layout design is much better than before. read more

I have frequented this Home Depot quite often in the past. Unfortunately, this place is no longer a pleasure to walk into. Customer service has taken a turn for the worse. It isn't like I have only had one experience with a single sales associate. I have had at least three negative experiences. When you ask a sales associate a question, or you have them unlock an item that you want to buy, they act as if it is such an in inconvenience. I have had great experience thus far at this Home Depot. Especially, one time, a young girl, Katelynn, went beyond her duties to assist me and she did it with a smile. I went there for a clearance appliance item. Luckily, it was still available. I like going into the store and browsing but due to this quarantine/shelter in place, I've encountered lines out of the store since the weather has been fantastic. Luckily, they do have online ordering and curbside pick up. This has been my preferred method for Home Depot shopping. I can still browse online for products but it's not the same as smelling all the hardware, plants and other products lol. The store manager was very helpful as well. I did buy a new grill and upon installing found a dent on one of my pieces. The manager's email was on the grill with my order number so I reached out to her. She responded within a business day and resolved my issue. My last order didn't have the manager's email just the phone. Regardless, I love this place! read more
