If I could give this place zero stars, I would!!! The customer service and lack of urgency were beyond disappointing. We came in at 10am to purchase a Father's Day gift,a grill. We already knew exactly which one we wanted, so this should have been a simple purchase. It took four calls to the Garden Center and one employee physically walking over there to try to find someone to help us, all with no success. After waiting 40 minutes, my husband went to the customer service/returns desk for assistance. There were 4-5 employees standing there chatting, and not a single one acknowledged us during the entire time we waited. We were told someone needed to either bring the grill down from the rack or retrieve it from a pallet in the back. What was particularly frustrating was that there were several employees available yet they chose to send the woman to handle the task alone. This isn't about questioning her capability it's about common sense and teamwork. We then spoke with another employee who repeatedly tried to convince us to purchase the floor model that was already assembled. I'm sorry, but if I'm spending $700 on a grill, I want a brand-new product straight out of the box. The fact that my purchase seemed like an inconvenience to the employees doing the job they're paid to do is not acceptable. After nearly an hour of waiting with no resolution, we decided to leave. We drove to Lowe's instead and received outstanding customer service. Not only were the employees helpful and attentive, but they even offered us a complimentary gift. We were in and out within 25 minutes. Ironically, at Home Depot, one of the first things they asked for was our ID so they could sign us up for a credit card. I usually have good experiences at Home Depot, but my recent interaction with an employee named Bonnie at the register was one of the worst I've ever had. In my personal experience, she was extremely rude and dismissive. I explained to her that another employee had marked the asphalt for free because it was all ripped up, but she didn't seem to believe me. When I politely asked her to call her coworker to confirm, she became frustrated and gave me a look that made me feel like I was the problem. I don't know why she thought it was okay to talk to me that way. The energy was so negative that I actually grabbed my things and moved to another register -- something I've never had to do before. I was in an electric cart and had large bins to purchase, but instead of helping, she picked them up, speed-walked to drop them off with attitude, and sarcastically said, "Have a good day, sir," before quickly walking away. I even told my daughter, right there, that this is not how anyone should act at work. Bonnie turned around and asked me what I said, even though she clearly heard me. She seemed angry, but that should never spill over into how she treats customers. Overall, this experience left a really bad impression. The parking lot is huge but it's also shared with Pep Boys so a lot of the spots are taken by cars they're working on. There's also a lot of debris in the lot, so be careful. I N S I D E Pretty large and standard like many Home Depots. Today we were there for specifically fly spray which was located in Row 55 which if you walk inside and look towards the side it goes up to 49 so go outside into the Garden Center to find the insect and critter repellents. They also had a fly problem in this area too which was quite funny. C H E C K O U T We got our items and checked out at the self check out which has hand held scanners which are great. The orange smocked worker turned his back to me so he could make a call. The rep at the "Returns" area explained that the two Garden employees were outside on the forklift. In the meantime I got into a conversation with another customer. Eventually he got tired of waiting, so he left. After a few more minutes I could see orange moving past me from my right. The original rep was on the phone. I explained that the worker was no longer on the forkliift and that I had been waiting for over twenty minutes and on hold for over seven minutes. I asked if there was someone else in the buillding with a key. She said the Garden guy was helping in another department. Oh, is that where he rushed to instead of helping me? The rep asked if I wanted a manager. Of course I said yes. So as she was dialing, the original rep informed my new rep that she was on the phone with the managet. My rep explained that I was waiting and tolld me that the manager was on the way to help me. Did she really speak too the manager? The first repp was stilll speakng to her. It was several more minutes before I was hung up on and the manager approached. They must have realized that I was the one calling.. The manager did apologize for the long wait, but didn't offer an explanation regarding the llack of workers on the floor. I am giving two stars because the manager took the time to read the specs of thee trimner I was interested in purchasing. At least thirty minutes after my arrival, I had my trimmer and replacement wire/thread. I come to this Home Depot only when I need something very basic and is always in stock. It would seem that certain higher end items are either not carried at this location or they have one left that had been returned. I was just there yesterday and two things caught my attention right away. First their mobility devices for customers who have an issues walking are never charged up, making them useless. Second I know it's the holiday season, but at this store there is so much merchandise blocking the isles you have to squeeze through much of the front area of the store or wait for others to walk through then you can go afterwards. The entire time your in the store your constantly saying excuse me to others due to lack of space. The San Leandro store has a wider selection, and they generally leave merch to the side so people can walk by. read more

Ok, i think it's time to rate this particular Home Depot. I've been going here for years and I've finally had it with this Home Depot!! Their customer service is something to really have doubts about coming. This place is always busy with people especially during COVID since everyone is stuck doing home projects. There are times they are considerate of their customers like when it was hot during COVID social distancing and limited entry, they provided at least four canopies to cover us from the sun. They provide hand sanitizer before and after entry. They have markings on the floors to show where to stand in line. Why I rate them two stars is their customer service. Never around to assist. They always never have inventory of pots, plants or lumber or even appliances or hardware stuff when you need it. Lowe's is better. Also, their customer service is not to be desired or considered here because they barely are considerate of you. You a long time for service....For example, we were looking for paint so we asked if we could get this color and she said she can get it mixed for us. We waited 30 minutes and stayed near the pick up paint area. She saw us then said, Oh, we don't have that color. Sorry." REALLY?! You just say that after 30 minutes of waiting?! She could have looked for us and told us. We left all the stuff we wanted to buy since we wasted our time when she could have said it was not available the first time we asked. I need to write this review and give 5 stars for my experience last week. I called in about a product that was listed on sale online to make sure they had it in stock. I got Marco on the phone, he checked on the item and verified that they had it. The phone call broke up a few times, but he didn't just hang up on me and stayed on the call until we got everything covered. This was a good start and I appreciated that he didn't just hang up the call when it got choppy. Once I got there he helped me through the process the entire time. I won't detail the long story here, but he went above and beyond to help out hand on from beginning to end. He explained the situation to the cashiers, brought in his manager, and followed through every step of the way. I just wanted to give him and everyone else involved their props for being professional and actually acting like they cared and for providing great customer service. One of the better Home Depots around. Clean, organized and less hectic than other east bay locations. I looked online for a 3' x 4' one piece shower and out of all the Home Depot locations this one showed 2 in stock. This item is apparently few and far in between. The standard is 3' x 3' and its easy to get that in a one piece - meaning that the walls and the shower pan are all built into one. This is the ideal set up for an apartment application or if you just want the lowest maintenance shower available where you don't need to re calk or deal with grout issues. Ray helped out. Very helpful and funny. I would want this guy on my team for any construction project. He helped schlug this beast on our cart and made sure to call somebody to help load. If you believe granite is best left for cemeteries rather than shower walls be sure and check out one piece bathroom fixtures. It can be ordered to any Home Depot for the record. Recently we ordered bamboo hardwood flooring from Home Depot in the Union City store and initially things progressed without incident. Until... Home Depot delivered our flooring and the company they contract with advised the do NOT take items upstairs. There are about 12 steps to our upstairs condo and upon hearing that feedback we had the delivery company unload there HUGE pallet at the foot of our steps along with the borders and addition installation supplies. It took us 90 minutes to drag every piece of the flooring up the stairs, including 66 boxes of bamboo wood flooring. We remarked that it seemed like a lot of flooring for our 1,001 square foot condo and the deliver staff had no response. Home Depot didn't advise us of this condition when we ordered the flooring or when they called to remind us what we needed to do to store the flooring in our home. Next it was discovered Home Depot actually delivered another customer's borders and underlay to our home and they wanted to come collect it immediately. The staff that called to discuss the incorrect delivery did not seem knowledgeable about what was happening at all and we spoke to at least 3 people about the issue. They could not advise how much of the border belonged to us and we advised the additional borders could not be collected until our floor installation was complete. Four days into our five floor installation project we were finally ready for Home Depot to come collect the extra items after a good amount of back and forth. The good news is due to our complaining about how we experienced the process Home Depot deducted $200 from additional installation costs we incurred that was unrelated to the flooring order. I will add the staff that did speak with us apologized profusely and were sympathetic to our situation, which affords Home Depot 3 stars instead of 2 stars. Having knowledgeable staff, disclosing conditions early and doing your best to accommodate the needs of the customer are important aspects of customer service. Home Depot would be well advised to tend to these matters to avoid confusion and frustration by customers during an already stressful time of upgrading a home. Next up is window installation we purchased through this same Home Depot location and we are hopeful it happens without incident. read more
