I usually go here just to get the Dust Remover since it's the only location I can think of. I heard that they sell cheap tools, but it's a small place to go though. You can find at least some tools you need for repairs. People probably come here because they prefer getting cheaper tools compared to the ones from other stores. We've had our fair share of home improvement stores and we're now seemingly leaning toward Harbor Freight for tools which is great to have options. L O C A T I O N Harbor Freight Tools is located in a plaza on the corner of Blacow & Mowry Ave. The parking lot is shared by a Indian grocery store and other establishments. It was a crazy experience when we were parking so proceed with caution. I N S I D E Everything is labelled well and what I do is look up what we want online picking the store we want to go to and it will state what aisle to look and if they have inventory at that store. Take this with a grain of salt. What I found with this particular Harbor Freight was that many shelves and areas were empty. So again proceed with caution. But it was all quite organized. S E R V I C E We were in need of a 5/8 deep socket and a socket wrench as well as a normal wrench. Luckily Harbor Freight comes to the rescue as we're not needing anything super fancy, just something that will do the job without breaking the bank. Luckily they had what we needed at this particular Harbor Freight. There was someone who was walking up and down the aisles asking if people needed help. He pointed us in the right area. Checking out was a bit long though as there was only one person initially and they were doing a return that seemed to be having some issues. But eventually the line was being handled a second person as they saw the line was growing exponentially. He seemed to be chugging away through the line after we paid. Glad they were there to help but it would've been nice to have a third person helping out. O V E R A L L This particular Harbor Freight seems to be quite popular that their stock seems to be out of a lot of things. Lines got pretty long but it was just chance. I recommend trying out Harbor Freight for any tools you may need that are good enough and doesn't have to be expensive and just works. read more

Just wanted to acknowledge store #0354 in Fremont on Warm Springs & Mission. Great location near the Freeway and nearly brand new. Extremely organized and very clean. Parking is not a problem.Shelves are stocked and lots of merchandise. My normal store is in Santa Clara but this one is better than many. Staff is available, friendly and knowledgable. Harper freight is one of my favorite stores. Unfortunately, today I went there writing on my bike. I wanted to ask a simple question about belts.For vacuums. Bought an electric lawn mower for cheap but then discovered I need a battery and charger that costs more than the mower. Overall I saved money so I bought the set and it worked fine . So my husband is mechanic (retired). And I was kind of a snob when this store first came to town. My dad was a Teamster, So naturally I was raised to buy American. My husband & father were both Craftsman guys buying from Sears for most of my life. With Craftsman tools coming with lifetime warranty (for most tools). My husband started shopping at Harbor Freight at the Newark store. At first I thought these cheap imported tools would break w/o the warranty of Sears Craftsman. So far after a few years most of the stuff we have bought from here has held up pretty well. Fremont was a huge improvement when they consolidated both the Fremont and Newark stores. The Newark store was a tiny little dump with almost no parking. I have been proven wrong plenty of times. He likes the store for service (floor guy's). You can ask most of the employees questions, and get helpful knowledgeable answers. He likes the prices. I like the coupons! Wide clean aisles. Covid-19 protocols followed! Plenty of free parking. Same shopping center as Black Bear diner, Bev Mo & Nation's. I would probably give this place 3 stars, but the low prices bump it up a star. read more

Thanks to PGE I lost 4 straight days of no power in the Oakland Hills. Fortunately I had 4 LED lanterns to light up the dining room kitchen. Well sort of, but the previous week there was the chance that we would not have electricity. I said to myself that this was not going to happen. Two different trips to Home depot and all they had were the bigger generators that would power a construction site. I decided to visit Harbor Freight after working out. Matt the manager had recommendations for a Predator 3500 generator that would power up my refrigerator and lights in the house. I purchased the last one and came back on the weekend to pick it up. Five stars for the great customer service and loading the generator in the car. I'm now prepared for the up-coming power outages that will be coming my away. Fremont story usually is my favorite place to look for tools, the majority of employee in Fremont are awesome but the store manager MIKE is the PAIN! My bad experience started from a regular return process, my purchased pump I got from this store 4 days ago, I brought back with opened box (only read manual for instructions), but he looked at the item by his naked eyes, insisted to say" this has been used." He even did not look at any part of the body, inlet or outlet, or used with water marks, etc, I asked him to find 2nd opinion from other employee, but he refused. Therefore I filed complaints to the Harbor Freight Co. Customer Service, therefore they sent my complaints to the Fremont Regional Manager Adam Luis to come to the store to verify the pump very next day. He thoroughly inspected and proved it is in new condition, and cooperated with a full refund. This should have made the store manager Mike feel very shameful how he takes care of the basic customer care; His careless, laziness, inefficiency, will lead the store? How lucky Harbor Fright is to run by this kind manager? MIKE as a store manager with such an ignorant attitude, hostile manner, Has caused me 2 trips back-force, meeting with his BOSS Adam to have this simple return resolved, but this had experience has made me loosing the good image and faith in this store under his management. His insulting opinion towards to the new pump, by irresponsibly saying untrue" it has been used" , shows how ridiculous he is! I like this particular store because Arman (hope I got that right) is friendly and super helpful. He always asks me if I need help without me asking first. That is rare in retail these days. At least 3 or 4 times I have asked him if there was anymore stock of an item in the back that was empty on the floor and he always came back with one. Don't assume they are out of the item if the shelf is empty. The manager, whose name I don't know was very friendly and helpful on the one occasion I asked him something. A vast improvement over the Newark location (that should be closed by now). I used to work at the Newark location so I have nothing but love for that spot BUT it was dated and running down. This new location here on Mowry really brings it up to HFT standards. Place is clean and fairly organized. Customer service was friendly but didn't really offer the best answers for questions I had. With all that being said, this review isn't taking in accountability of how you might feel about HFT Tools in general. I've bought plenty of tools from HFT and they have done the job I've needed them to do and for the price, that's all I can ask for. Fun fact, I even left the Chicago Electric Recip Saw outside for a year, dusted it off and used it to cut my Christmas Tree into chunks. Good stuff. read more

i bought 2 water pumps for the over flowing problem for my pond 2 days ago. I was not sure which one to get, so I ended up getting 2 different types. I was told by the cashier that I could not return any of these if they were open. I totally understood the policy before getting them. When I got home, my husband already solved the problem before I took the pumps out. I ended up return both of the pumps which were never been open and used. 3 people checked them thoroughly( even opened both of the boxes ), and concluded that these were brand new ones and never been used. However, they told me that they had to charge me for the restocking fee even that I did not open the boxes. I was not happy because I never been told about it. They told me that the policy is on the receipt even if they did not tell me, I had to look into my own receipt. I do not understand their policy and was not happy with their attitude. The manager finally did not charge me for the restocking fee, but the cashier kept telling me that I should always check every word in the receipt. Who will check every word on the receipt if your purchase something and return the object unopened? You will expect a full price refund, right? If I get something like this from Home Depot, they will not been so unreasonable. Very disagree with their policy and the staff's attitude! Will not come back again! read more

This is gonna be a lengthy review about my shopping experience at the Fremont Harbor Freight. In particular, this is about my encounter with an extremely rude and yet incompetent employee with a subtle display of bigotry. Recently stopped by the Fremont store as I heard from my neighbor that HF was running their monthly promo, which offered certain low valued merchandises for free for being on their email subscription. I later checked my email and sure enough, HF sent me a coupon for a free pack of microfiber cloths with "no purchase required" and "just for stopping by". I then decided to swing by after work, went inside to check out the latest gadgets but didn't see anything that tickled my fancy. So I just grabbed the free cloths without buying anything and proceeded to the cash register. Seeing that I had nothing to ring up but the freebie, the cashier (a short medium-build Caucasian woman in early 60's with a brown pony tail and glasses) became quite rude and had a major attitude saying the coupon on my phone was "not a real coupon". This was without her even looking over the coupon I presented. I then explained that the email was sent to me from HF, and the coupon was current for this particular merchandise with the correct item #. She wasn't having any of it and basically ignored me. She then called over the manager standing nearby, but by then I was unable to present the coupon to the manager as my crappy phone had just froze... talk about bad timing!! I didn't want this douchebag of a cashier continue causing a scene, and I couldn't stand being around her negativity any longer, so I just told the manager not to worry about it and left. While unpleasant, I just shrugged it off as an insignificant encounter with a trashy individual having a bad day. I couldn't care less about not getting the microfiber cloths. When I got home, my neighbor just so happened to be in his garage. So I went over to chat about my latest experience at HF. To my surprise, homie also got ringed up by the same cashier earlier but had absolutely no problem getting the microfiber cloths. And no, he ended up not buying nothing neither! This got me thinking.... the difference between the two of us is our ethnicity (Me=dark skinned Asian, Neighbor=white European). Could it be that racism was at play? I hate to come to such conclusion, but then I failed to come up with anything else to justify the vastly different shopping experience between myself as a person of color, and my neighbor / fellow HF shopper who is white. Needless to say, this shopping experience at HF reminded me that racism is alive and well even in 2023. It's too bad that the Fremont branch is actually one of the better HF's that is well organized and the staffs are generally pleasant and helpful... or so I thought. This review is probably irrelevant to those of the majority race. But for those that are "colored", don't shop there with an expectation of equal treatment from the racist, rude, and downright disrespectful staff. read more

I'm a little disappointed in the customer service. I hate writing bad reviews but I went in on a Wednesday afternoon this week asking for an item. The man working there was clearly talking his friend. The friend allowed me interrupt them to ask my question to the worker. However, the worker was short with me and didn't really answer my question or care to help me find this item. He resumed back talking to his lady friend. This location is always the least busy and well stocked. The Santa Clara location has darn near everything all the time but no space and crowds (scary) while the Hayward location has little of anything but plenty of space snd still manages scary crowds. This is a go as a happy medium- lots of space, always shopping carts available, plenty of stock , and friendly staff. It's become my go to store. You guys, going to Harbor Freight for affordable, quality hardware is a no-brainer. I can't say enough about how they've made life easier. So many reasons. Open late (at least 8pm). Huge selection of quality tools, including automotive stuff. Bright, clean store. Restrooms. Knowledgeable, friendly staff. No attitude or job hater. Coupons out the Ying Yang (in mailers, in store, and email if you sign up). INCREDIBLE return policy. Never have I seen one this generous! You can return something within 90 days as long as you have the receipt, and it doesn't have to be in its original packaging!!! I'm going to repeat this Yelp adoration with all HF's I've been to. Only thing I don't like is that there's no stores in San Francisco or the Peninsula! But there's lack of a lot of practical stores on Peninsula which is another story. If you're in Sacramento, East Bay, or San Jose though, you're good to go! There's one in San Rafael too. read more

I used to visit the HF in Newark before they closed and consolidated with the Fremont one. This branch is excellent and they have never declined a return even if it was past the deadline. On one occasion, they even helped with loading a toolbox twice and returning the old one. If you don't have a coupon and ask, they will scan an old one for you. read more

I bought a motorcycle wheel balancer at the Fremont location because it was in stock there. When I arrived home after driving an hour round trip, I found the box had been opened. Definitely a huge store compared to the Harbor Freight store in Newark. Also not as crowded; when my boyfriend I stopped by the store there were only 2 other customers shopping around. Since this is a bigger store, there is more variety, as well as more machinery on display in some aisles so you can check them out before buying. The employee that works here is really nice, she welcomed us right when we walked into the door and asked us if we needed anything to not hesitate to come to her. I also really like how all the merchandise are neat and organized, it really makes it easier to find something. The one thing I have an issue with are the signs that are in each aisle to tell you what is in that aisle; one side of the sign is in english and the other side of the sign is in spanish, so if you are in the middle main aisle of the store you will have one side of the store with english words and the other side of the store with signs with spanish words. It would have been better to have both english and spanish words on both sides to make it easier for the customer. read more
