This is one of my favorite places to go because whenever you buy anything, your pretty much guaranteed the lowest price. I really enjoy making/building things so this is like the mall for me. I go here alone because I hate distractions when i'm day dreaming. This location in particular is up the street from where I live. Not many people from my area go to Home Depot, so that's a big plus. You head down to the Mira Mesa Home Depot and it's usually packed and hard to find parking. Another cool thing about this location is that they carry higher end stuff that used to be only found at the Home Depot Expo down on Convoy. I think the Home Depot Expo is now closed. If you need help the staff is always knowledgeable, just make sure you ask the older looking guys or the guys at the main desk. The young guys don't know much unless it's that dirty blond stockier looking guy that's usually around the wood section. Plumbing guy also doesn't know much either so avoid him. The curly brown hair lady over in gardening is a joy to talk to also. They try and push you to use the self checkout which I really hate. The lane over by the entrance is always open unless its prior to closing. Than you'll sort of be forced to use self checkout after that.. read more

I love this Home Depot! It's never super busy and they have everything I need. I haven't ever had to go to another Home Depot to find anything. It's also very clean here. I also love that it's conveniently located right next to Costco, so when we are doing our projects on our house we always run over there and grab some hotdogs or pizza. What's really nice about it being not as busy as the other Home Depots is the fact that there is always people here to help you. This Home Depot also has a lot of skilled retired tradesmen that really know their stuff. At some other Home Depot's there's a lot of young people and they really don't know much about your projects because they haven't had the trade experience to be able to help you. Not so with this one! For instance, today I was having an emergency issue with plumbing and I found "Abel". He went above and beyond to help me figure out a solution to this delicate problem that we created ourselves. Lol I hope Home Depot reads this and gives him kudos for being so kind to me. A while back we also had a problem with a price mixup so we got the general manager to help. I don't remember her name but she's a really nice lady too. She definitely knows the importance that great customer service and you can tell by the way her employees treat us. Today was my first time going to the Poway Home Depot. My experience was great, and curbside pickup was a breeze. Richard was very pleasant and brought out my order faster than I have ever had a curbside order delivered before. It also looks like their garden center was much larger than those I am used to. The good news is that they are conveniently next to a Costco. It's also a huge store. I just found the customer service to be mostly lacking. They seem to have an attitude around there. For instance, I asked one of the employees where their contact paper was and she said, "You are in the wrong place!" in a "duh" sort of way. I was thinking, I'm in the wrong place because I was looking for someone to friggin help me. Plus, I didn't know where it was in the first place - hence why I'm asking YOU. Geesh. I much prefer the slightly smaller, yet friendly Home Depot on Carmel Mountain. They actually ask YOU if you need any help instead of having to beg for help from snarky employees. read more

Home Depot is my home away from home. While I was on leave, I was averaging about one visit per day for a month! Their product selection is fantastic, their location is great (right next to Costco foot court if you get hungry!), and I love their staff. Every time I visit, every employee greets me and asks me if I need help. Only negative I have about HD is that they're short staffed on occasion so it could be hard to find someone for a specific section. As I just bought my first house, I find myself walking through the store for ideas and looking up additional information later. Their website is a great help as well as they have "how-tos". In addition, they make searching for products easy as they separate sections of the store so everything isn't tangled together (You won't find plumbing and electrical in the same aisle!). Being a new home owner, I find myself not knowing what to buy as their product selection is so large. I therefore buy a few options and return what I don't use. I used to bring 5 different receipt for all the products I return at once but caught onto the fact that they only need to swipe your credit card you used for purchases instead of the hassle of receipts. I can now shred my 27 receipts laying around! Returns are a breeze! I used to use a local rental shop for all my tool rental needs but the equipment was too old/not 100% so I started to go to HD. It's a little more expensive but their equipment is well maintained and everything I've rented thus far (except for the lawn roller) has been new. The difference between the 4 hours and 24 hour rental prices is very small so you don't feel rushed to finish your project in a rush. Moreover, the staff will help you on what you might need for a project. I was eyeing a cement saw with a diamond blade but he turned me to the walk-behind cutter. Wow...he saved my back and everything else that might have happened if I had used the other saw you get on your hands and knees to use. Their prices are very competitive with those of Amazon. Most of the time, they are within a few cents so I opt to give into my impulse and purchase at the store rather than wait for Amazon to ship. *10% military discount will cover the tax + a few cents, which is amazing. All in all, HD in the place to go for all your home improvement needs. Though I said it before, I'll say it again: their staff puts the home in home depot! read more

I have been dealing with the most aggressive and rude sales person in flooring. she is so rude I called the manager of the store and complained and he assigned another rep to work with me, 3 days ago i received a call from the rude rep barking out orders of things i have to do. Again aggressive. her name is Lauren i may cancel my flooring and kitchen remodel because of her nastiness. I will not spend thousands of dollars to be treated rudely and aggressively. This Home Depot and almost every other one I have been to, always had people that want to help you. The people are knowledgeable too. I always come her instead of Lowe's. The guys at Lowe's get annoyed when you try to ask them questions, but. It at Home Depot! Helping your customers is more important than stocking shelves and Home Depot understands that concept. Every time we come in we are treated so courteously by competent salespeople who are helpful and friendly. So I ordered a fridge...over a month ago. It was from 1800homedepot, but I understand they ship it to the closest Home Depot - being Poway. The first time they delivered, about three weeks ago, they said our driveway was too steep for the truck, and it was to hot to cart it. They were so rude to my husband, like it was his fault they don't ask any questions about your driveway. The next week they come to deliver on the smaller truck, it looked like someone kicked the crap out of it. We didn't accept delivery. No one called. Ever. I called the 1800 complaint number and spoke with the alabama office. The gentleman I spoke to took the complaint - homedepot, without calling or contacting us, had loosely scheduled delivery for after 0ct 30, that will be two months from when the fridge was purchased. They sent me to escalation at the Home Depot 1800 number. I spoke to a woman who said she'd get right back to me. Apparently, she was going to find out what happened to the fridge they tried to deliver. I was also told by the first person I spoke to said they really try to make it good and give me a discount when a situation gets like this. The escalation woman NEVER got back to me. I had been told that they would get right back to me a WEEK ago. From what I understand, they were waiting for the next delivery of six refrigerators. It sounds like HomeDepot sends idiots out that will take situations out on you, they have an issue with their help line - they stole our money, and they lied to me. They never tried to make anything right on their escalation line. I have made an FTC complaint. Don't buy appliances from this Home Depot, sounds like they're having issues with the distribution of goods. And they just keep your money and keep you in the dark. I bought a fridge, I have no fridge. I have no one to straighten this out. Home Depot stole my money. read more

We just moved and we needed plants and flowers for our new Patio. I saw something on Pinterest and I headed to Home Depot. The truth is that going to Home Depot scares me. I know what I want my patio or home to look like but I have no idea how to make it happen. There's lots of parts and tools up and down the aisles... I just need what's in the picture; How do I do that!?! We walked into the garden center and right away I was intimidated. Where are the planters? What plants could we got in these planters? What plants can survive even if I don't know how to keep them alive? So many questions and no clue. Luckily, Laurie in the gardening department is like a flower angel. She was busy helping someone else when I approached her but she said she'd be right back. I told her I wouldn't move and I didn't. I waited at that spot since I was already lost anyway. Laurie came back and found me and she stayed calm and listened while I showed her my Pinterest boards and asked over 20 questions in 10 minutes. She took it all in and said, "Follow me." We did and she picked out flowers, plants, and planters while giving detailed instructions on care, planting, & maintenance. I wrote everything she said down and after a few "a-ha" moments, I'm confident we can put this patio together. If not, I'll be back to see Laurie. Laurie said helping people put together their dream garden is the fun part of her job. I can't believe people garden for fun. I'm not there yet... read more

The store is grossly understaffed in the evening and cannot help you if wish to make a big purchase such as patio furniture or a shed. Do not go. I tried to buy a Rubbermaid shed at 6:30 pm. The shed should have been on the ground floor like in other stores, but it was placed up on 8 foot high shelf. Although it's not heavy n just plastic, I asked for help. A Home Depot employee later came, and there was an employee ladder 10 feet away. He could have simply moved it n retrieve the item. It is not heavy at 17 cubic feet. My cart was ready. He walked away n told me to wait. He said he had to look for patio furniture. He literally walked clearly to other side of store n turned into the lumber area. After 10 minutes in cold outside air, I gave up. The lady in garden department was nice n empathetic, the retiree non-helper was simply disgruntled n cared nothing of customer service. I had suggested the employee use the ladder nearby but he told me I would have to wait n walked off. 2stars only because the garden lady was nice. read more

Well here is an home improvement store that sells all sorts of Stuff for your home and Garden it carries Tools and all sorts of things you need for your home. They do carry Lots of Tools and Hardware plus Lumber for your home needs also flooring and all sorts of Paint for you to paint your home . They do have a Tool Rental Department also for you to rent Tools and plus if you need to rent a Van or Truck they do Charge 19.99 Per Hour for that . Plus if you want to upgrade your Bathroom they got all sorts of things for you to upgrade your Bathroom such as Sinks door handles , Shower Doors , Mats , and all sorts of little things for your Bathroom plus they have lots of toilets for you to choose if you need to switch out your Toilet . Plus if you need a key made they do have a key machine in the Hardware Department for you to make keys . But you have to ask an associate for help . The one thing I do like is this location has a self checkout for you to check yourself out . Pretty Cool !! The one thing is it is sometimes hard to find help when you need it . Also the lot is huge for you to park so no worries . My overall experience is This is you Home improvement Store to go to !! I am a business owner who just had this Home Depot cost him over $8,000 due to their mishandling of my order & incompetence. We ordered custom retrofit windows for one of our construction projects and ALL the windows that were delivered were undersized by 2 inches. Home Depot admitted it was their "mistake on the computer". We were then required to re-order new windows which put us behind on the project 17 DAYS! We are Residential Re-Developers and pay expensive holding costs for the properties that we renovate. Poway Home Depot has cost us $3,000 in holding costs for this project and another $5,000 for the following project's delay. Paid for and ordered product (exterior doors) from the Poway store was not delivered even close to on time.This caused a 2 WEEK DELAY in construction and hindered our contractor from doing the new stucco and the rest of the finishing work. When the store manager at the Pro Desk (Cory) was asked where material was he replied "It was lost". I also paid for special order carpet from Poway. I was informed that it would be 2 weeks for delivery as it was a special order item, no problem. ONE day before product was to be delivered to the job site Poway Home depot called and informed us that the carpet we ordered was discontinued and we should choose a different carpet - even though was still available on the store website. Once again this caused a huge delay on our project and cost us more money. We have given them many chances to redeem themselves, tried to reason with them and discuss the matter but they refuse to take responsibility or compensate us in any way. Our doors are still "lost" and we are forced to use another vendor as Poway Home Depot is unable or unwilling to rectify these problems. I have yet to receive an apology or any kind of real help regarding this matter - all after bring them quite literally THOUSANDS of dollars in business this year alone. House flood, emergency repair, on a hurry? Then go somewhere else. Worst customer service... I called to ask for availability of a tool. 45 minutes later I got transfer 3 times. So I ended driving there. At this point I got the rental for 4 hours. Got back after 2 and a half hours. No one is here. Ayer 30 minute wait someone comes back calling a manager. Of course no one knows how to operate the rentals so more editing waiting. So unless you have more than an hour to return a tool, even tho there's no one in front of you, don't bother on coming here. I'll rather do the extra 2 mile drive to any other location. read more

Be aware of home depot installation. I purchased carpet 9/17 with installation with in 3 weeks. There was no attempt to make this commitment. The installers were a 5 week lead time alone after purchasing carpet. when that appointment became impossible to keep (i was across the country) for my family we were told another 3 weeks, We had to use another company to meet a hard deadline 12/1/18. I could not get a hold of any management at the store for 3 weeks straight. I cancelled the payment with my credit card company and all was good until 1/2/18. I was sent a certified letter notifying me i owe home depot for the carpet. I called and low and behold got a manager, he told me "PAY OR WE WILL SEND YOU TO COLLECTIONS! SIMPLE AS THAT!" the worst experience i have ever had with a company. read more

We walked in and purchased a washer dryer and refrigerator. The order on the dryer had to be redone twice after delivering the wrong one and apparently not processing our payment for the right one. They eventually arrived. The washer and dryer- while an inconvenient experience work fine once we got them. The refrigerator isn't getting cold. I called and was told that I have to call the manufacturer and that there's nothing they can do. It's 2 days old, they delivered a faulty product and since they don't keep them in store they aren't responsible. ‍ amidst this irritating conversation and being told "you shoulda got our 5 year warranty" the clerk was helping walk up customers while she was talking to me. So now we have a broken brand new refrigerator that I can't do anything with until Monday morning with a house full of family. If you're buying appliances DO NOT buy here! You're gambling on getting it on time, the right one, and whether it will work or not. Go to sears or Costco.... somewhere that stands by the product they sell and their service. Horrible Appliance experience! First, our top-of-the-line LG refrigerator died after only 6 years. First of all, don't buy LG. We went to the Poway Home Depot to take advantage of Thanksgiving appliance sale and purchased a Whirlpool refrigerator this time. The first problem involved Whirlpools' delivery of our refrigerator being postponed for a week. It was finally delivered Friday, December 15, 2017. Well, it never cooled down. Home Depot offered very little assistance. We called them, sat in hold for a long time, got transferred around and finally my husband's call was transferred only to get a recorded message saying to call back during business hours. HD failed to note in their system that we called w/in 48hrs. Now being told we have to deal w/Whirlpool who is now jerking us around. We just want rid of this one and go get another somewhere else so we can go on vacation but HD is refusing to take it back. Whirlpool said it will take 6weeks, repair or replace Feb 2018!! read more

This is one of the better-kept HD's I've been to, and the staff are very courteous and professional. I'll actually go a bit out of my way to get to this store. The garden dept has an especially good selection of decorative pieces and healthy plants. ................ P.S. I avoid the Carmel Mountain store after a horrible experience early last year. The lady with the 80's rockstar bleached hairdoo behind the service counter seemed amused as 2 of her fellow employees banged loudly on steel shelving with a sledgehammer, about 20 feet from the service counter during store hours. Damn near burst my eardrums as I stood there waiting to be helped. Yeah that was hilarious. Those three have likely been recycled back through the unemployment office by now (you'd think, anyway). read more

Great customer service! Home Depot knows how to pick and train their employees right. Went there after spending 30 minutes at Lowe's asking for help and standing around, waiting for someone to help me, which they never did. Every time I've been in Home Depot, it seems like every employee knows about everything in the store. Yesterday, Jean was very knowledgeable about the power tools and also went and found out about the extended service plans for me. At the service desk, Kian was really friendly and helpful with my will call pick up order and had it ready in minutes. Danielle was friendly and helped me by calling customer service several times because the system wouldn't recognize my new Home Depot card. Lowe's Poway is a newer store but don't waste your time there. Most of their employees are lazy, rude or just plain idiots. read more

Went and spent $1,500 on garden supplies today. Needed more room in the truck so knew it was going to take 2 trips. Employees told us they would put the items for our second trip on will call. So we paid for everything. Took the first trip of items home (which is 20 miles from the store). Went back to get rest of supplies and the items we paid for were not in will call and they had sold out of them. So we had already paid and did not receive our 15 bags of $8.97 per bag soil. Was told they will call when the items arrive. So 20 miles there and back home with gas at $3.80 in a 350 pick up. And will have to do it again. Not cheap. Not happy at all. read more

I went to return a Carbon Monoxide detector that was purchased for us as a gift when we moved into our new house. The first customer service rep told me since I did not buy it there was nothing she could do. I was a bit frustrated and started shopping for a few items. The manager found me and asked me if I would return to Customer Service. She offered to replace my detector and apologized for the inconvenience. This deserves 5 stars for the manager tracking me down, understanding my issue, and making me feel whole. HOME DEPOT Customer Service is improving! read more

They had focused on staffing and being available to customers on the floor but it seems like that focus has been lost. Today I couldn't find something in the fasteners aisle and no-one to assist. That is ok, I went to a cashier and asked them to page an associate. No page but she made a call and told me help was on the way. Ten minutes later without help arriving I go back to cashier and she calls again. Tells me there is someone on the floor that can help and they sent another person to look for her. Umm, I can see someone on the floor helping other customers but that doesn't help me. No-one comes to help me but I wrestle an employee on the floor to help. Show them the webpage showing aisle and bin location to be told that the department doesn't stock like the we site thinks. Argghhh. Poway Lowe's is even worse. Hope HD can find their mojo again soon. I had an excellent experience here buying paint supplies. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable as they were able to make excellent recommendations to get me started on the job. The store itself is one of the nicest HD's I've seen as it is sparkling clean and neat. It's located in a pleasant part of town; you don't have to worry about driving through any bad neighborhoods.
