Home Depot is a go to for so many, and for really good reason. They have literally everything you could possibly need to solve a problem around the house, and the staff is experienced, knowledgeable, friendly and able to assist in finding what you need and figuring out what you need as well. For the handy ones out there, this could be a one stop shop, though it never works out that way! On top of all that, Home Depot customer service has always been unbeatable. In my book, it's only second to Costco, which is saying A LOT! Well that all changed this month thanks to Saul Reyes, operations manager at this store. I purchased a giant Halloween decoration and a week later I noticed it had been reduced by another $100. Home Depot has always had a policy wherein they'll refund the difference in this situation, so I went into the store to access it only to be told that this didn't apply because the item was on clearance. The reality was this was on sale. The tags said special buy, the website said the same, and there were still numerous units at the other Reno stores but this store only had one left, and therefore this manager was claiming it was clearance and refused to honor the policy. I could've ordered one for delivery at $200 and returned it as my original without an issue. I tried to discuss with him but he would not see it any other way, so I called HD customer care who promptly refunded the difference. This is not the customer service I know from HD. I had planned to share this in the customer feedback survey but it expired so I'm sharing here. I will still be a customer but I will likely shop at other locations as a result. read more

Please do not ever order home improvement products from these guys. We paid the $35 to measure then we picked flooring and they sent us an invoice to approve for more than double the floor and installation. It took 3 weeks and countless phone calls with Home Depot. Com to get the order corrected. The floor was supposed to be delivered tomorrow, they show up at a rental house this am at 6:30. I told them not to leave the floor, the dumped it on the sidewalk and left. I had paid them extra to bring the floor inside, and they just left it out on a busy street with no regard. I have spent 2 hours this am trying to get this rectified , they say it will take 3 days to pick up. Quality/Quantity - Consistent, my DIY place. Good quality at very reasonable prices. FYI - If Walmart sells the same or similar item, it is usually cheaper there, when it's in stock... Atmosphere - Consistent, but the Home Depot on Steamboat is my favorite because they have less customers. Giant home improvement warehouse with the best prices. Self service, usually has everything I need and when I need it. Plenty of parking, but lots of speed bumps in the parking lot, kind of excessive. Open 7 days a week, see my picture, Yelp or website for specific hours as it differs slightly. Service - GREAT return policies!! Self service, so GREAT service, LOL. Rude rude rude. We needed a new window and had to order it. We ordered it on August 27th and was told that it wouldn't be in until sept 24th. Sept 24th rolls around and still no window. I called the store and they said, " didn't anyone call you?" No, nobody called me. What did they need to call me about? The staff member I spoke to said that the window was delayed 2 more weeks. So, on Oct 10th I call the store and ask if it's in. They tell me no and to call back tomorrow. Oct 11th I call and it's in but they want me to wait till the next day to get it. I expressed to him that I would like to get it that day because I don't have a window in my house. He tells me he'll call back in a half hour. Tick tick tick tick and hour and a half goes by and no call. I haven't had no window for a month and a half and it's starting to get chilly at night. So, Husband and I load up the kiddos and go to Reno because I'm not leaving without my window. We get there and they tell us to go to pick up and it will be there, just to give them a few minutes to pull it. We shop around for about 20 minutes and then went to the pick up desk. No window!!! Ugh. So after several calls the pick up desk employee says I'll just go get it myself. When he brought it out, I was shocked to see that it wasn't wrapped or protected in any way. He gave us some cardboard and wrap so we could wrap it ourselves. In the meantime I'm noticing all the flaws from damage done during shipping. Bent fins ... the vinyl is scratched beyond repair etc. in desperation I just take the window. We get home and start to notice the craftsmanship is sub-standard. Really, we wait almost 2 months and nothing is aligned or cut right. I'll take the Carson Home Depot's over this one any day. read more

We were having trouble finding the mirror we wanted for our bathroom remodel. We live in Carson and the stores there didn't have a 3rd mirror that wasn't broken. We had already purchased 5 and out of the 5 only two were good. We drove to Reno. The 'Steamboat Springs store was supposed to have 5 according to their website. They had none. Next stop was the S. Virginia store. They had them, we put 2 in our cart. Our plan was to open the packaging when we got to the car but I asked the employee at Self Checkout if it was ok to check them before we paid considering out past experience. We needed a new outdoor table because our overpriced pottery barn one lasted all of one season before it started to warp (it was covered whenever there was weather). So we headed to the Home Depot. Sean helped us by finding the table we liked, bringing it out and loading it. He was so nice and helpful. It honestly threw me off because customer service at bigger stores and warehouses is essentially non existent. The whole staff was super friendly. Saying hello and greeting when people enter and telling people to have a great day as they left. Just wow. So awesome. Damian is always friendly as well. Do not order an appliance from this place. Worst experience ever. We ordered a new dishwasher and the guys who installed it improperly installed the kick plate and also did something to the water pressure so that only a trickle comes out of the faucet. I scheduled a visit for them to fix it. The guys who showed up laughed about how badly the kickplate was installed and said we needed to call a plumber for the water pressure. I scheduled a follow up visit, drove all the way up from the Bay Area, and then was told the visit had been canceled because they don't fix plumbing. Home Depot Reno location is great. This is one of the few Home Depot left where there is still some customer service being provided, and quality good customer service which makes it even better. Called asking for a stock check and the clerk on the phone was super nice, checked the computer and then asked me if I would like to hold for an actual physics stock check, I was hesitant because I knew I was going to be left on hold for 30 minutes best case scenario, she was back in less than 2 and confirmed it was in stock. Showed up to the store and there it was. We were offered assistance a couple of times as well which really doesn't happen at other Home Depot nowadays. Very happy with this location. Home Depot employees at this Home Depot like to stand around and talk with their buddies at work. Even when you are struggling to try to get something or load boxes onto your cart. These "helpers" will just keep talking with their friend at work and WATCH YOU STRUGGLE, doing nothing at all to help, like they don't care. There are some that are helpful but for most of them it's social time, they come to work to hangout with their friends instead of doing their job. The man he requested come and assist (Ernie) was very unpleasant at best. He was rude, short, unhelpful, made comments pertaining to my social class, (of which he knows nothing about, perhaps because I don't wear my best clothes to Home Depot during my days off for doing work around the house... Well everyone is so familiar with Home Depot it probably doesn't seem necessary to do a review. However sometimes someone is so helpful that something needs to be said. First, this Home Depot has a nice happy feel just walking in. Lots of hustle! We went directly to the nursery and met up with Joey who was really HELPFUL! I learned more in a few minutes than I did researching on the internet! Turns out Joey has been in THIS Home Depot Nursery for 20 years! He really knows his business. He tells it like it is. He says Home Depot REALLY does honor the guarantee on the plants they sell so be sure to save your receipt if that's important to you! I know the next time I need plants I'm coming back here even though it is not the closest Home Depot to my house! It's hard to find people who KNOW plants! I also needed help in the paint department. Denise was another AweSome employee in this store. SIDE NOTE...After leaving HD we needed to look at something only Lowes sells. We rarely shop at Lowe's because we're just Home Depot People I guess. What a huge difference. The Lowes felt dead. Nobody in there. Took 20 minutes to get help with questions about an item they supposedly had but didn't. The guy in Lowes Plumbing said he'd be right back...15 minutes later I saw him head down an isle away from me and I hollered...he turned around and yelling...not politely...said YEAH I'LL GET THERE. Several more minutes later he showed up. Unfortunately he didn't know much about what we wanted! Pretty much a waste of time. Mad props to home depot today in their management of covid era shopping. I was skeptical about same day pick up and curbside pickup based on my experiences with other stores. Home depot really made it smooth and seamless. My order was ready less than an hour after I placed it. An appropriately masked employee approached my car as soon as I parked in the curbside pickup area to collect my order number. He told me there were two people ahead of me but that my order would be out shortly (good communication). The whole process was simple and what all shopping experiences should be. read more

A guy in the Christmas lot told us that they no longer tie trees to the roof of cars "because of liability" issues. Knew this could not be the case. I probed and he said he would call his Manager. The Manager must have asked "who told you that"? He replied one of the Managers, had no name. I pointed to the sign where they saw off the trunk and wrap the tree, the area roped off from the public... it was a sign for the employees titled, "procedures for tying trees to cars." He tied the tree finally. So, it was just me and my elderly mother and nobody else, but one couple who were not yet done shopping. This guy didn't want to move his lazy *** to help us. We paid for our floors in June 2021 (new LVP for all living spaces and carpet for the bedrooms) and it is now Nov. 3 and the company they use has canceled on us 3 times- twice day of. The day Romanoff Renovation was supposed to show up between 8-11 both in October and today, after we have completely followed the preparation instructions on our end making our house unlivable, they have canceled AFTER the 11 deadline. When I went down to the store in Oct. To speak with the manager after the first time this happened regarding our frustration he was "at lunch" and never responded to the employees text when the employee asked for the return time.... and today he was "in a meeting" and I could "try to call again later." I would never recommend to use Home Depot or Romanoff Renovation for your flooring needs. Initially Home Depot misplaced our materials and marked in the system we had picked them up already for the LVP flooring and now, 5 months later, the carpet that was supposed to be installed in Aug. Is being pushed back AGAIN. This has been an AWFUL experience. Do not use them for floor install - EVER! Update: Nancy at Home Depot says they can't do anything to help us and is blaming this all on our President of the U.S.A......talk about not taking responsibility for your company's own faults. This is the WORST!! I came in to duplicate a manual car key. Not only did I have to wait a dubious amount of time, I had to ask 3 employees for help at the key station. They claimed being short-staffed but two-four workers were just chatting at the front of the store. The person who finally came to help me didn't know how to duplicate the key. So in turn, she herself had to get someone. When the other person came, they said they couldn't because "people would try to start cars?" Therefore they aren't allowed to anymore? And yet, they suggested going to another Home Depot which doesn't make sense if they no longer duplicate car keys in general. Went here to purchase a BBQ grill. All associates were kind and helpful but the store was in disarray. All of the grills were assembled and posted outside. The one we chose was not in a box and all of their stock was totally assembled.. this made it extremely difficult to fit in our midsize SUV. Also, the kiosk for the propane tank was broken and we patiently waited for an associate to assist us and 2 other customers waiting for propane. I'm also not too sure if having all of the grills preassembled during the pandemic is a good idea... I understand sometimes it's a convenience to already have something set up, but not when you have a little car.. I'm thankful to the associates and strangers that tried to help cuz we were looking all sorts of frustrated. We're home now and hopefully it works when we make dinner tonite and doesn't crumble due to the fact that we had to really stuff the thing into our vehicle.. wish me luck! read more
