As much as I enjoy shopping at The Home Depot, sometimes the experience can be challenging. It can be difficult to find employees available to help, and when you do ask for assistance, many seem unsure or unable to guide you to the items you're looking for. The garden department especially could benefit from staff with more knowledge about plants. When asking for help with plant care or selection, the answers I received were very limited and not very helpful. I like the store and the selection, but better customer assistance--especially in the garden area--would really improve the overall shopping experience. Do better, Home Depot. read more

Woody needed boxes for packing up his house. I rarely come to this store, opting for the one further north at Howe and Cottage. Woody asked the paint folks where the boxes could be found, and was accurately directed. The cardboard boxes were fairly affordable. Also picked up a six pack of packing tape. No waiting in line. To whomever the younger man working the customer service desk on 6/4 at 3:27. Why would you ever think it would ever be an appropriate thing to ask a customer if they were going to "cut up a body and put it in the box" that they were purchasing? For anyone who might think there's any context, there quite literally is none. This was the only thing he said to me. Very disappointed in my fiberglass door purchase from Home Depot. A damaged door was delivered & installed. The damage was easily detectable, but it was installed anyway. I discovered the damage later that day. The door does not seal completely when closed and light and cold air filters through the damaged area. I thought Home Depot was a reliable company and because the investment is in the thousands, I decided to buy the door at Home Depot. I cannot be more disappointed. Great locations for all of your hardware and outdoor needs. Lowes is closer to my home so ai typically go there, but in many cases, Home Depot has had a greater selection of what I needed. Sometimes even having items I can only find here, like yard drainage equipment. And products for lawlawn and garden care. This is also my go-to place for renting tools and equipment if I have a larger product. I aslo appreciate that they have a Military discount, which helps on all of my purchases; especially when making large purchases for outdoor renovations. read more

We decided to buy new appliances for the laundry room from Home Depot. The order processing went fine. The delivery not so much as it took three weeks and when it did arrive, the washer had some damage. We were refused everything and did not give the trucking company our appliances. We canceled the order assuming it would be an easy transaction. It wasn't. Home Depot invoiced us the moment we purchased it at the store and so within a week we were past due, and it took weeks for us to get it straightened out. It also impacted our credit rating. It dropped over 100 points. We went to Lowe's the day we refused the delivery, which was a Saturday and received delivery from Lowe's on Sunday. Home Depot bad, Lowe's good. read more

We decided to have new coubter tops installed and Kevin from Home Deport came to give us an estimate. He showed us small sample slabs of stones. The contractor they used Valley Tile Install Services was terrible! They sent a email with specifications, which we completed. The errors were numetous: 1. They miss set expectations, install times and dates. They asked us to schedule Tuesday - Thursday from 8 - 4pm. So we rescheduled appointments for the week. 2. The 2 installers who came barely spoke English, were sloppy when installing and damaged one wall, poorly blocked off room to minimize dust and plastic sheets had holes in them! There was dust everywhere, and they kept poking holes in the plastic curtain so it took days to clean up the dust. 3. There was no plywood or support for the counters, just small pieces of wood the size of a ruler put in certain places. 4. The slab sample and thickness is NOTHING similar to what was installed. I asked Kevin, the sales rep " is this like a Corian stone" ? He said " yes". Come to find out from Jennifer from HD said its a PLASTIC COMPOSTIE WITH RESIN. That is not what we thought we were purchasing. Who the heck is spending thousand of dollars for a plastic countertops. They're totally misleading customers. I plan to take them to small claims court for this! 5. The installer is supposed to leave at 4, based on the email we received. I've come out several times to have a discussion with him and check on the progress. After gouging the wall, he was just going to cover up with the slab. I asked him to fill it with grout, or a board, since it's the wall leading out to garage and I dont want to have issues with bugs later. I had to talk him into covering it up. Otherwise he was going to leave it like that. Even though I marked wall since it's close to gas lines, but he left 2 noticeable large holes from removing the old counter! 6. The install was not complete and he said he'd be back Friday. Mind you he rushed to get the job done, and all appliances are out due to install. Now, we're told he's not coming back till Monday. So, we're incurring extra costs because we're eating out each day. 7. I spoke with Dara from Valley Tile Install letting her know my frustration and she says she'll schedule us for 9 am install. It's Monday and it's 11:30, and still no install guy. This company is terrible at setting expectations! They don't remove any appliances, so unless you have 2 guys readily available your out of luck.We're in our 70's, so it was a challenge. Next time we'll get a company that moves appliances! Overall I fell like we got a bait and switch and we're misled about the product. Tell customers it's PLASTIC WITH RESIN, NOT STONE!! We never received any warranty information, instructions for care even though I brought it up several times! I was promised I'd receive something by Jennifer from Home Depit- still nothing!! I'm sending this to FTC, BB Bureau, TrustPilot and Small Claims court. read more

I just wanted to give credit where credit is due. Yeah, Home Depot is a big box store so you have to adjust your expectations when you go there, but last night I received excellent customer service from Teddy in the plumbing dept. I needed some plumbing parts for a project that was difficult to describe, but Teddy asked exactly the right questions to determine what I needed, and he identified the correct parts for me. Teddy even came up with an idea for an alternative -- and better -- way for me to accomplish my goal. Additionally, he was friendly and had a great attitude. Normally, I shop at Home Depot because I have to, not because I want to, but on this occasion Teddy made me glad that I went to Home Depot. Two years ago, I bought a screen door for my sliding glass door ... the little plastic handle is so cheap that it cracked so I went back to Home Depot to replace it. They have three different styles and the Home Depot employee suggested one brought it home. It didn't fit, even though I brought the old broken one with me so I go back to Home Depot. Tell him it didn't work and asked if I can have some help so again I brought the old piece in the Home Depot guy sold me another one brought it home and it doesn't work just seems crazy that this screen door handles are not available to replace from where you bought them. Oh also by the way the second Home Depot employee stunk so bad it was like he hadn't taken a shower for I don't know how long it was so bad. So in order for me to replace that cheap plastic handle, I would have to replace the entire screen door because it's impossible to find a replacement. Just seems crazy. Today I went back to Home Depot (my 3 children call it "Homie Depot") to return. I walked into the store after a long, sweaty day of yard work, looking like a hot mess, and feeling a bit uneasy. Initially, I felt even more uncomfortable when little girl at the register's hesitant demeanor made it seem like I was trying to pull a fast one for $60. (Wife and I purchased items separately at different times and had no receipt, which did not show up on our rewards) However, the file did contact the manager for me, which led to an extraordinary experience. The Assistant Manager, Will, approached with a calm demeanor and a radiant smile. His communication was impeccable as he explained that the system couldn't issue store credit. From that point on, he went above and beyond to assist me. Will called over Teddy, the plumbing specialist, who immediately identified the best solution for my sprinkler drip system by adding a valve to reduce the pressure from my well. Teddy was incredibly knowledgeable, and Will--well, he's just the man! Their support and commitment to helping me were truly commendable. We made a personal connection that felt like a divine appointment. Will and I shared stories about our sons, and I learned a lot about his son, Mason. Much love and respect to Mason and his journey. While experiences at HD can be hit or miss, I always find what I need at the Folsom and Watt store. Thank you, guys, for your trust and friendship. I'll pay it forward. Right when I thought we were going to be perfect, they broke my knob for my faucet and my drain pipe by compressing it near the wall. Not only did I need to file a claim, pay the upfront cost, and wait to get reimbursed, but now my family will have to go on for another week without the ability to wash our clothes. read more

I tried to exchange 3 propane tanks. I paid for the tanks. When I went to get the tanks, the person taking care of me told me that he had told management that there were no more tanks available. I tried to get a refund on the spot, but they told me that it would take 3- to 5 days for a refund. So they charged me for tanks that they knew they didn't have. I tried to escalate the situation, but they don't seem to care. I will never go to HOME DEPOT again. read more

I normally never do in-between reviews. Its either I've had a great experience, or a terrible one. Today, I took my mother (who is 80 and using a walker) to this location. We asked a rep in the cleaning department who was on top of a ladder, if he knew where some specific glove would be located, the gentleman grabbed the glove and went out to the other side of the store to find the gloves, and brought them to my mother with a smile and a "have a great day" - 5-stars! "BRAVO!", I'm now sorry I didn't grab his name. We proceeded to grab a few things and came out to the gardening area to check out. There, we encounter an individual completely unfit for a register... "Ori", as their name displayed on their smock. I came with the cart as my mother struggled in her walker alongside. I greeted Ori, who flat out ignored me, they proceeded to use the scanner to abruptly scan every item, I stated "I need to ring that separately (again silence), when she was done she called the amount due, visually-upset. My mother made a comment to me, "she's in a bad mood", My mother grabbed the cash to pay, and Ori just stared down impatient while mom counted the cash, she then snatched the cash from mom's hand and proceeded to recount, - mom asked "is that ok?" (Again silence and rudeness), I called a manager as the attitude had gotten me irate by then. I explained to the manager that Ori's attitude is not fit for a customer service job, specially towards a senior on a walker (not that we were slow, as I handled all of it except the cash), I said "she needs to look at me when Im asking, respond to a simple greeting, or question". As the manager listened, Ori finally started talking "I DONT HAVE TO TALK TO YOU!" - finally looking at me with that sentence. Terrible!! A better place for this person is a warehouse, the back room, somewhere there she doesn't have to deal with public seeking a simple service from them. read more

I am not one to write reviews of big retailers because I don't feel the recognition from managers or hire ups gets given when an employee delivers good customer service to a customer. However, today one had to be written about James from the paint department. My partner and I are new homeowners, in the painting process of things. We build an entry way table which needed some color and decided to go home depot to get it. As we were browsing colors, James kindly approached us after he finished helping another customer and asked what we were looking for/if we needed help. We explained to him what we wanted and he gave us some options. We left happy, but realized that the color we wanted was still too light (this was on us, I just didn't feel the tone we got matched the aesthetic) so we returned today to look for another color. James was there again, and after a kind greeting we told him we wanted another stain color to match another piece of furniture. This time we brought a picture for reference. After choosing two colors and still feeling unsure about which to choose, James suggested we test them out before we purchased one. He took them, and brought us to the paint station in which he then grabbed a piece of wood and tested them both for us. I thought this was exceptional service because we didn't want to keep coming back and purchasing colors that were not the correct ones for us. James, if you or your hire up see this, the color you helped us pick was perfect and we will be returning specifically for you to help us! read more

Went in for a paint color match and Andy assisted. He was great, very informed and was even able to identify the specific sheen. I wasn't too sure so Andy suggested getting a sample in the eggshell (I thought it was flat) to test it out. I tried for 30 minutes to locate a Home Depot customer review page but to no avail and no survey info was on my receipt so Yelp is my next choice. I've lived at this HD for over 25 years and have almost always had great service although sometimes scant staffing when you need it. Today was exceptional from Andy to Keith in plumbing to the check out staff - so helpful, polite, appearing as though they enjoy their job (rare these days). Even the two young guys who loaded my new toilet in the car were sweet. read more

Be very careful renting equipment from Home Depot- they are poorly maintained. Always pay for insurance and have them start it before you take it. In the last 2 months I've rented a chainsaw that wouldn't start, returned it and got another that ran for an hour before it died and wouldn't restart. The third one ran fine. Then a week ago I rented a stump grinder and spent an hour trying to start it before returning it to find out the kill switch wire was broken and non-operational. I decided to try one more time and rented a stump grinder today planning on keeping it 24hrs. The employee observed that the starter pulley seemed to bind but said it would be ok. At 3 1/2 hrs the return spring broke (!) and I returned it. Rather than an apology or an offer to replace it with a working stump grinder for the remainder of my 24 hrs, I was told I had it for 4 hours and 39 min and needed to pay for the full 24hrs and was lucky I had paid for insurance or I would have had to pay to repair the stump grinder! I won't rent from Home Depot again. read more

This place's staff is hit or miss. I asked one staff member about the return policy. "You'll have to go to customer service to get your answer." then walked off. Moments later while searching for something, a staff member asked if I needed help finding anything. I did and he helped answer some questions of mine, including the return policy. Other staff members just seemed to be bothered when asking questions. "I don't work in this/that department" and walk off. No further assistance or direction. Felt like I was trying to figure out all things myself. We looked to purchase some flooring and wanted to know what's the best course of action. Again, no real direction. We paid for the flooring in the flooring section with an associate who seemed to be bothered by my purchase. You could hear it in her voice and body language. We were told to pick it up near the checkout location. Upon checkout we were told to go to customer service to pick up the flooring. Then customer service told us to go to where we just were to pickup them up. I spoke with a woman to let her know the situation. She said she would take care of it. I handed her my paperwork which she ignored. Then continued on her conversation with her friend or possible colleague. About five minutes later, I popped over to see what the status was. Still chatting away with the same person, I interrupted for an update. She looked upset I was interrupting her conversation. She explained to me "it's a carry out". I explained to her, again, that I know it is marked as that, but your colleagues told me they would load it on a dolly and wheel it out when ready. I handed her my paperwork again, making sure she took it this time to read all the details. Informing her I tried to provide this information to her the first time so we were all on the same page. She took the paperwork, "You can go back to your car now" and rudely dismissed. "Ohhh I'm mad now" she explained as she used the phone to contact someone within the store. VERY rude and disrespectful with her words, actions and body language. About 5-10 minutes later the flooring arrived with 3 staff members to help unload it. This whole shopping experience at this location was underwhelming and left a bad taste in my mouth, especially dealing with that woman at the checkout area. read more

HD Loves to waste your time! Out of propane gas but no one knows this until after you pay and walk out to the propane locker! Why does the manager make us wait so long in the customer service line while other employees are just standing around chatting with each other? Why is there always a long line for self-service checkout with several terminals being turned off? I came to exchange an empty propane canister for a full one but ended up waiting 15 minutes in their so called "customer service" line to purchase propane. There was only two people ahead of me but of course it was slow...it's always slow. I paid for the propane and met the HD employee at the propane lockup and was told they were out. A simple sign stating they were out should have been posted in front of the propane lockup which would have saved me a half hour. And of course after I left, no one posted a sign to save the next customer his or her time. Double Boo on Home Depot and the manager who is asleep at the wheel. I went to Lowes and got my propane...they had plenty at a cheaper price. read more

The Home Depot is your unavoidable go-to when it comes to anything you can't find anywhere else, which is a common occurance now that there are so few independent hardware stores. Unfortunately, with each return visit my opinion of this location is soured just a little bit more as a result of inconsistent or entirely absent service. My last visit on a Saturday morning was perhaps the low point. I walked in looking for some basic mortar for a brick project, found I had questions and then could not find an employee to help me for the life of me. After trying twice to verbally get the attention of the gal managing the long line at the registers, I lightly tapped her elbow and she recoiled in horror as if I was somehow the origin of COVID itself. I apologized for scaring her (although no apology was warranted, really, since touching people in a respectful way is still not a crime) and asked her to send me help to the mortar section (I had to tell her where that section is). She made one call over the loudspeakers for an employee who never showed up and after fifteen minutes and some more aimless wandering, I left. My experience speaks to the root of the problem here: a lack of employees to help, and knowledgeable ones at that. On the few rare instances when I have found help, the employee has no idea what they are talking about and usually refers me to one or two folks in the store who do, but those experts are already in high demand. I will continue to update my reviews on occasion should the experience get better. Or worse. read more

The waiting list is a couple weeks, but if you get the right install people it will add security and a cool look to your front door. I had ordered pick up items and came two times, waited in long lines only to be told, sorry it's not here, then the next time.. sorry it's here but we can't find it. On the 3rd and last trip they got a "manager'' who was put out by having to help me. Once he located my items they were all wrong. I asked to just return them and he pawned me off on another employee who was too busy trying to talk to her co-workers about getting tattoo'd to help me. Once she tried to process my return she couldn't even figure it out. Honestly one of the most ridiculous customer service experiences I've had in a while. I'll just go back to Ace Hardware. i came in to buy a box and tape to ship a package out via usps. i walked in and found a box that fit. since it was hot outside I decided to box and tape my item i came in with. a woman came up to me and asked is there was anything she could help with. i told her what i was doing and she clearly seen what was in the box, we had a little friendly conversation about the item in the box and she walked away as i taped up my item. This man jorge came up with an angry look on his face moments later asking what i was doing so i explained to him. As i flipped my box to tabe the other end i seen that he was giving me a dirty look, i nicely told him "you can check in here and see what im taping up" he then said "oh no your good we just have to scan everything" i said "well im taping this up check now" he said "oh no your good man" i walked up and he then followed me to the front like i tas some type of thief. The walk to the front felt so long thinking about how i was just racial profiled just because im a little dark or mabe because i look like a criminal to him? honestly i felt so degraded and labeled as something i wasnt. Once we got up front and the lady at the cashier scanned my 2 boxes and roll of tape that i used (wich of course im paying for the product im using) he then wants to open my box. i told him "i told you before i taped it all up to check before i close it bro what are you doing!?" He said "i just need to make sure your not stealing anything" at this point i was so hurt and offended i had tears comming out of my eyes.. i feel like home depot should take care of this problem and no leave this unresolved, honestly im suffering from emotional damage now. Not my "home store" for my general HD shopping but they do have a nice rental department which means I find myself here when I need to rent some equipment. Like a lot of the HDs around their service can be hit or miss and the quality of goods can vary. Parking lot can be a bit sketchy at times and the area around is a bit run down. The positive of this place is the rental department. I've had good customer service experiences here and have been generally in and out with no problems. Worth a visit for this but generally I will find myself at the HDs that are much closer to me. read more
