I ventured into Springfield today on a whim. The store layout is pretty standard and I had trouble finding a few items. I actually helped an older gentlemen move a front door onto his push cart with 3 HD associates were meandering around. The parking is good as was the self checkout. This is the worst experience I have had purchasing any item from any store ever! I ordered a dishwasher online from the Springfield, Virginia store. It was suppose to be delivered on 11/20/17 between 12pm & 4pm. There was someone at my home waiting for the delivery. They showed up at 12 waited in the truck 10 minutes and took off without knocking on the door or calling the listed telephone number. I then spent the next 3 1/2 hours figuring out why the took off. After being on hold 10 different times. I found out Home Depot contracts with a company to set up delivery, who then contracts with another company to deliver. No one can give you an direct answer and they are not interested in fixing a mistake or error when made. The Manager Rodger in Springfield never called back with information. When I contacted him he said the best they could do is get it there on Friday, 5 days after the delivery date. The company that schedules the delivery said they could help get it maybe delivered on Wednesday but were not sure. Then the company that delivers said there employees do not knock on doors, they call customers to see if they are home. They lied...I did not get a phone call, so they were too lazy to knock on a door. It then took another 50 minutes of being put on hold several times to cancel my order. So Home Depot lost $699.00 on this sale, plus another 4000.00 on appliances I was going to order on Friday. Because the Manager did not care about the customer and your delivery company is too lazy to knock on a door. I was however able to order the same dishwasher for 80.00 less from Lowe's who will deliver along with all of my other new kitchen appliances. I STRONGLY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS BUSINESS. Beware....Delivery & Installers Why did the delivery guys drop my GAS oven off the truck instead of using the lift??? I have small children, am I going to have that stove installed now??? So, the delivery guys arrive on time, wonderful, are unable to install the oven because they think I have a propane tank for the oven, which I am confused because this gas oven has a direct line to the main gas, just like our dryer and gas fireplaces. They can't install the microwave above the oven because they need the electric outlet higher & shelf issue. fine, makes perfect sense. (Had that fixed after they left. I know, who has that kind of luck the electrician was coming over again that afternoon anyway.) Will not install the oven or dishwasher because they have to do everything on the same ticket. whatever. So, they put everything back on the truck using the LIFT. Why not have a discussion with me about it. I asked them to place everything in the garage, why go back and forth with these appliances in and out of the truck when I will get the electric & shelf prepared for them and see them tomorrow. As I am walking outside I see one guy push the oven off the truck and the other guy drop it on the ground! Was that necessary? Seriously, why do I have to have a husband or a guy around so that this doesn't happen? I am more than busy with little kids and now I have to worry about this? read more

I have been here a few times and did not have the negative experience that some others had. The first couple of time I needed stuff that just happened to be on the complete opposite end of the store from where I entered but they had what I was looking for... for the most part. I needed a particular bracket that was out of stock ounce but they had another that I could use instead. I didn't really need customer service except to have some wood cut and that was easy enough. From my experience was a well stocked store and the prices were on par with any other Home Depot. I am only giving it three stars as I didn't really have any interaction with employees because I also used the self checkout isles. I will adjust rating accordingly as I shop here more. read more

I took a friend to help her buy potting soil. Because we both are in our 70's, we wanted to buy only small bags (8 quarts) as larger bags would be too difficult to carry. We went to the garden center but only saw 25/50 quart bags. I knew they had other sizes based on their website so I asked the worker there where the other bags were. She stated that's the only bags the store had. She made no attempt to check with anyone else or to check her handheld computer. (My friend and I do not have smartphones.) Not finding anyone else to ask in the garden center, we walked towards the customer service counter when by chance my friend happened to see a display of 8 quart bags. I was glad she found them when she did as my friend has back problems and can only walk a limited distance in the store. When I told the store manager about the misinformation we received and the difficulty we had finding the smaller bags, he said his workers aren't expected to know where all the 100,000 items are located in the store. Although I agree with that, I do expect the garden center worker to know where the potting soil is since it's such a basic staple in gardens. There should have also been a sign near the 25/50 quart bags stating that smaller sizes were located elsewhere in the store (also giving the aisle number). Home Depot needs to provide better service to their senior citizen customers. read more

so i'm hanging at my parents house for the week and i walk into the kitchen greeted by my guilty looking mother. she then tells me she almost burnt the house down. apparently she burned a bag of popcorn, threw it in the trash and then went upstairs. there was some dude fixing her washer there who alerts her that her garbage can is on fire. they have one of those fancy drawer pullout things that has a bin for trash and a bin for recycling, in a nice lil drawer. the fire burnt through the plastic bin and almost the spice drawer above it. so off to find a proper bin to fit in the spot. i walk in, ask the girl right away where the bins for kitchens are and she tells me by the registers. nothing. then i walk over to customer service, they tell send me to the garden shop where i find like BIG outside trash cans. i wander into the kitchen section, explain my problem to the guy there and he sends me to the electric department. i walk through the department, seeing about 10 employees who are avoiding eye contact with every customer near them....and just make a bee line for the door. what a show! on the flip side, the one in woodbridge was a bit more helpful, i had to order the bin, but the staff there was totally nice and helpful. read more

I normally don't go to the Home Depot because no one there cares about their customers. So I went to the self checkout after found the replacement lock for my parents home. The machine accidentally scan item twice, an African lady told me to take it to the customers service and ask them to remove the duplicate charged. Very rude people no respect at all, talked like they were in high school kids. I work for a car dealership and I know how to treat my customers. WILL DEFINITELY NOT REC TO ANYONE I KNOW! They manage their free kids workshops well and are quick to provide help. They recently redesigned their checkout area and provided more open space for carts. It is more spacious and organized than other HD locations nearby. The parking is annoying - very dark and narrow lanes; hard to see people walking across and the line at the light backs up far inside the parking area. We came in looking for bathroom vanity. Chavon was awesome, extremely helpful & top notch. She is extremely friendly, courteous. Anyone who frequents Home Depot knows how difficult it can be to get assistance, but today, we lucked out with Chavon. She saw us wondering the aisle & asked us if we needed help. This Homedepot is step above others. Uncle Phill assisted in getting the huge box down from the top shelf, not an easy task but he did it. My review is not for this store per se but I did contact them for my home services (Roofing, Gutters, Insulation). I had roofing (GAF tiles) installed in October 2008. By Dec 2010 my second and third floor interior ceilings were stained from water leakage. This began a routine saga of calling Home Depot Home Services to report a problem. They would then send someone out who would look at the ceilings and try to claim it was due to plumbing leaking. At least after this happened the 4th time in 4 years they stopped trying to BS me and would just acknowledge the leaks and then go to the roof to do spot caulking. Despite numerous requests to have them replace the underlayment, they would simply tell me they'll consider it next time. In October of 2015 I had two large buckets catching rain pouring into my kids' room. Home Depot reps had the audacity to try to claim this was not due to the faulty roofing they installed. They were back ib October 2016 for the same issues and today (for the 7th time) for water leaks. I cannot sell my house in it's current condition and I cannot get contractors to agree to repair my ceilings until they are convinced my roofing problem is fixed. Bottom line is that Home Depot contracts some less than fully competent roofing firms to install their roofing and then plays the rope-a-dope to keep the customer in constant repair and hope do loop without fixing the issue or acknowledging the installation was faulty from the outset. Close to the worst experience I've had as a customer. If you like to sped your personal time doing the jobs of the store employees though maybe this is the place for you. I recently got a discount coupon for Home Depot and decided to give this store a visit to purchase some power tools and building materials. My shopping experience was about average (with some highs and lows) until it was time to checkout. After giving the coupon to the cashier and reminding her near the end of the transaction, she forgot to use it, but mistakes happen. I checked my receipt in the car and noticed the discrepancy so I went back in to the service desk to get it fixed. With no one online before me it took over 45 minutes to get the transaction adjusted. At first I was told I could only get store credit. So even though it was their mistake, I was supposed to go out of pocket over $50 and be bound to still spend it at Home Depot. I argued and the service rep relented, and began the return. This included: multiple trips across the store to the original register; four attempts to refund or re-tender the transaction that failed; and one attempt where the service rep needed me to read (and often reread) him every barcode on the receipt (around 50 items). After our third time going through the receipt we still weren't done because that was apparently still the return. Then we had to do it all over for the repurchase. I left the store an hour after I originally 'left the store'. The last straw was the store manager. I called a few minutes after returning home to try and get to the bottom of this. I expressed my concern about the process and she said she'd look into. I then asked "why I should risk another visit and do business with you again." To which she simply said "give us another chance." I reiterated that I spent almost an hour of my time fixing her employees mistakes, why would I return? To which she said all I can do is invite you back, what else do you want. I think she effectively invited me to shop at lowes and ace. read more

I use to work here and I observed the other cashiers and I noticed that they were almost always friendly to me, their coworkers and more importantly the customers. I wouldn't mind working there again but I do agree that there could be some improvements in knowledge and communication with the employees and the customers. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Just closed my account with Home Depot. They were NOT there to help me at all with a problem, no fault of my own. I had paperless statements sent to me but have not received any statements for 3 months (no phone calls either) 3 months go by & I get a phone call, I'm 3 months behind. I ask how much do I own and she tells me $132.00 I give her my bank account and taken care of right? I got to thinking about it and checked my emails and I had not received any email statements for the past 4 months. No phone calls until the 3rd month. My account that was about $25.00 now was around $170.00 w/late fees. Not only that my credit score goes down (I'm trying to buy a condo in Feb.) NOT Good! Courtney and the Manager I got handed over to Alisha was no help AT ALL. Didn't try to work out any of their problems Home Depot caused. Goodbye & Good riddance!! We just moved down here from Boston. I have been to this Home Depot twice now and my experience has been bad both times. Most recently, I ordered a propane tank with the checkout cashier. I was very specific that I wanted a new, full propane tank. I was charged for a refill. I did not notice this until later. I asked how to obtain the tank and the cashier said that a sales associate would be out there. I pulled around and parked in the fire lane that I was told to park. There was no sales associate to be found. I walked down the front of the store looking for someone to help me (while my car remained in the fire lane...thank goodness I didn't get a parking ticket). Finally after going back in and finding an employee that was willing to help me (20 minutes later), I was told I was charged for the wrong one and to go to customer service. He said he would be there when I came back. I had to move my car back to the lot, which is annoying because there is no easy way to get around the building without going on the main road. The customer service line was out the door with only two employees behind the counter. I waited in line for another 20 minutes to return my original purchase and pay for what I originally wanted (a full, new propane tank). After that I went back to park in the fire lane. Of course that sale associate was no longer there. Again, I went on my search to find someone to give me the propane tank I purchased. I went inside and there was four employees talking with each other and none of them were willing to help me. I finally found a nice lady who worked there to help me. This took another 20 minutes before I found someone to help me. I had it put in my trunk and left extremely frustrated that a short trip to Home Depot took over an hour to buy a propane tank! When I arrived home, my husband unloaded it from my car and pointed out that the tank was made in the year 2000. He told me it should be within 10 years and hopefully it had been requalified. I was so frustrated that I was not willing to go back. I need to find another location! I was so spoiled in Boston with very qualified employees that went out of their way to help. Also, people in Boston would not put up with this type of customer service. Very disappointed with my new, local Home Depot. read more

I went into the Springfield VA Home Depot on a crowded Saturday to rent a truck to take junk to the Fairfax County dump. Checkout was handled very easily by a pleasant man named Javier. I left there and went home to load up the junk and took off. Between traffic and the fact that the dump ended up closing ten minutes prior to the time on the website (that's a whole different issue) I was left with a truck full of trash at a closed dump. I went home and offloaded the junk and took the truck back to HD. As I was checking in - again with Javier- I casually explained what happened at the dump. Then, without asking, he told me he would give me a full refund because I was never able to get the job done. It wasn't a whole lot of money - but that is way beside the point. An hour earlier I was shut down at the dump by a rude security guy even though I was on time!! Then Javier gets me a full refund without me having to ask for it. Great guy with really good customer service skills. Big props to Home Depot and Javier! read more

Horrible customer service from a cashier named Ashy. We went to check out and the cashier stated that one of our items did not have a tag, we asked our cashier if they could have someone bring another or call for someone and she stated she could not leave. She then turns around and loudly asks anther cashier "I don't even know who to call to get the item number" and then rolls her eyes and slams the item down. Another cashier working the self checkouts had to help us. She the asked "do you mind if I check out another person, because this is going to take a long time." My mother was fed up with her attitude and walked to the back of the store to grab another, when she came back the cashier questioned if it was even the right item with another loud and annoyed "okayyyyyy?" when I told her it was the same item in a different color. After getting the item number she threw the item under her register. In all the retail stores I've ever been in, it's not the customers job to check for labels, it's the employees job. If she is an example of the cashiers working at this location then no wonder this location only ever has one cashier line and seven automated registers, the management must be slowly replacing their rude cashiers with robots to avoid problems. Not going back to this location, I'll take the extra ten minutes to fairfax! read more

I'm leaving now. I asked to have a 1x12 cut. One person said they would call someone. 2 people said someone was coming. 3 people said someone is coming. After a long time waiting, I called the store front from the cutting center and I sat on hold another 15 minutes until I was cut off. All are busy but no one is helping the two of us waiting at the saw? I clearly have on my orange vest repellant? Is it because you're understaffed? So I went to check out and someone pointed to the man on the "forklift thingy" because "he's the one working that aisle tonight." I went to him and he and another man had three other customers asking him questions plus he had big stuff on his fork lift as he was leaving the building. No chance he was going to even make eye contact with me. I returned to the same check out and was told there's another guy too. "Someone should be able to cut something for you," she said. As we were leaving Home Depot, cashier made a remark about an ethnicity. Wow really? this had me offended, why would you even say something as we walked away. This place is horrible, they really need to re-train their employees in customer service or just being friendly in general, and they need to keep their comments or whats on their mind to themselves. Carpet is installed and we are pleased. Many layers of management at the store level. They kept trying to change decision on what they would replace at no charge.
