I had to write a review for this place, because it was such a delightful experience. (But only after I got there - my Maps app put me in some residential district and it was a nightmare figuring a way back from the one-way street I ended up on.) I came in to buy General Finishes gel stain and poly topcoat - a very difficult to find product that I couldn't find anywhere else in northern Virginia (and even Amazon.com was out of the topcoat). Amazing - they had it! And at a better price than Amazon.com. The salesman who worked with me was so awesome. This is my first woodworking project, and he volunteered a ton of information on the technique I should use and the materials I should use. This wonderful experience made me to want to come back to Woodcraft even though I can't think of any other woodworking projects. The only thing I can say about this place is that you shouldn't come here when you're in a rush to get out quickly. I really appreciated the advice I received, but admittedly, I didn't ask for it. read more

Walked into the store with my husband to look at some tools to add to his shed and walked out shortly after. I don't know if it was the color of our skin or something else but we received the cold shoulder treatment. It could've just been an off day but the other patrons of the store were greeted in a friendlier manner and offered help while we didn't receive the same treatment. read more

Good selection of wood, tools and materials, and classes. Problems with the mall area, rude service. There is a illegal work gathering place in the lot. The store must have a huge issue, because they have many shoplifting signs and the small high value items are all locked up. The staff was unable to ring me up, because they were all with over 60YO white men like themselves discussing various products. I gave them 5 minutes of seeing me at the register to even acknowledge I was there waiting, they did not do so. I left. read more

Found some plywood I really needed, couldn't fit it into my car. Shop refused to cut it because there was a class going on. I watched some guy talk about himself for 30 minutes to the class and just gave up and left. I'll be happy to take my business elsewhere or just order online. I'm pretty sure everyone has run into this scenario before. It's the weekend and you have a nice woodworking project ready to go and all you need is some nice solid wood. You probably envisioned this project made of some serious hardwood, definitely not something you'd find in Home Depot or Lowes. All they have is some soft wood barely hard enough to prop anything up in a proper vertical position. So where do you go? Only one place, Woodcraft, your best chance at finding what you need, some wood, is here. You walk in, ask the burly men here and they'll point you straight to the wood section. You'll find any kind of wood you can dream of. They have fat ones, skinny ones, long ones, short ones, Mahogany, Yellow Heart, Cherry, exotic, domestic, etc. You can even the combination of stumpy fat ones that's perfect for spinning. Don't get me going on just the wood here, they have everything a real woodworker could ever want. Let's say you walk into the screws section and let's say you were looking for a #6-32 wood insert nut, you'll get it there for sure. Then in the off chance you need a V cut dremel tool to carve out that hard wood, they got it plus more. If your hands were blessed with the divine ointment of the gods to work wood and you want to learn, this is the place to go. They offer classes for all level woodworking and ages. If working with wood is your thing, this is the place to get a helping hand. read more

This is a great store for all your woodworking needs. It's great to have them nearby when I need something quickly. They've always had what I needed in stock, which is a relief when you've got a project on the go and you need something to meet a deadline. They have a wide range of tools, accessories, and supplies ranging from mid-level to high-end. The staff know the ins and outs of all of the products and are always willing to answer any questions you may have, whether it be about a product or how to do something. I generally know what I'm doing, but it sometimes helps to run a design idea or an approach past someone else to see if you can benefit from their experience. I recently have started learning how to do some beginning woodworking projects. Being excited about learning new skills I went into the Woodcraft store. At first I was very intimidated about the store (and that I was a woman in a predominantly male "world") until a nice gentleman came up and asked if I needed any help. I explained that I wanted to learn how to use the power tools and was a beginner. He was so kind in showing me the skills I could learn and also showing me the class schedule they had. they have everything you could need to get into wood working from classes to supplies to actual wood and even the stain that pros use. awesome store. we've gone there to buy several things such as hinges and wood veneer for the furniture we built at home. the staff there is also very helpful and provides tips and things that will help you if you explain your projects to them. pretty awesome place! read more
