Suffice it to say, we have no problem driving from Tucson on Sundays for breakfast at the Horseshoe! The food is always what we ordered, the way we ordered it, the staff makes sure of that! We've eaten breakfast many times and once (so far) we got there after breakfast and had to settle for the lunch/dinner menu items. (Durn it)! Ended up with an amazing hamburger making me forget all about breakfast! Cooked exactly how I wanted and tasty, juicy patty! The servers absolutely hustle, they're always at capacity because of the reputation the Horseshoe enjoys. We always ask for Miss Amanda J. if she's working, terrific lady, so patient and tolerant with us, (brother in law can be a cut up)! Not only does she dote on us to make sure we're satisfied, the other servers will check with us if she gets busy with other tables. We so enjoy the good food and attention we get everytime we're guests there. Love the Horseshoe Cafe, what more can I say? read more

The food was excellent, the service was extremely good. Our waitress Diana, was very attentive with an excellent customer service ethic.

This is the third time we've decided to eat at the Horseshoe during our Saturday trips to Tombstone from Tucson. We were hoping to get in before 11am for breakfast but we got too busy, so lunch it was. It never fails to please. We ordered the Rueben , in house seasoned corned beef, with onion rings and chicken fried steak sandwich with sweet potato fries. Better half doesn't normally care for sweet potato, but they were a winner even to him. We took home a giant piece of red velvet cake for later. The cake slices are huge. We stopped here on the way back from seeing the sandhill cranes at Whitewater Draw. Our friend loved their liver and onions plate and wanted to stop for another helping. How could we resist trying out a new place??! It's a quaint little diner with western decor. The menu is loaded with lots of choices of good ol' American food. The ladies serving us were very friendly and attentive. I had a tuna melt on marbled rye bread with fries and it was quite good...could have been melted a bit more but it was a very generous serving. My partner had a veggie burger. She got sweet potato fries with it and they were fabulous. We would certainly eat here again when passing through Benson. read more

This is hands down the best chicken fried steak we have ever had!! We stop here on our way home from Vegas. So we only eat this once a year, so we were disappointed when we couldn't come last year. This has been our third visit, and again it was delicious!! There is never excess breading left on our plate, each bite is perfect. Still can't find a chicken fried steak in Texas that matches this one or even better. So we always look forward to visiting Benson, Arizona. Oh yeah can't forget the dessert, love their cream pies. No banana cream pie today, but the chocolate cream pie hit the spot. read more

Service was good. Food was not. I ordered chicken fried steak, which was pretty pricey. It looked unappealing, a large piece of steak on a bed of gravy. No gravy on top. Weird. The coating of the meat was not at all crispy. The worst was the toughness of the meat. I had to remove several bites to the side of my plate after chewing much too long. It was not tasty. The hash browns were cold and seemed barely cooked. The over easy eggs were cooked perfectly though! I liked the marble rye toast. Another in our party ordered grits and they were inedible. They were completely liquid. The sign said "New Ownership", so I think the past owners must have been better, because it had been recommended by others previously. read more

My husband and I were driving from California to Louisiana and looking for a unique restaurant in Benson where we were stopping overnight. We are so happy we lucked into The Horseshoe! The food was great and the server was charming and efficient. We had an excellent craft beer on tap, and the whiskey selection was surprisingly large. We met the personable new owner and he shared some of his plans for the future. A great place that's only going to get better! Try it! read more

A great place to get a huge meal! Large delicious portions, perfectly prepared. I had the oatmeal with blueberries, pecans, raisins milk and brown sugar, if that wasn't enough it comes with 2 slices of your choice of toast! My husband had the Arizona omelette chocked full of everything and the kitchen sink and it comes with homemade salsa and the biggest biscuit we've ever seen. Our daughter had the biscuits and gravy way too much for her but she managed to finish one. Great service, locals coming and going hugs from staff for them made you feel like things were normal again. read more

Over 20 years I've only had three bad meals here and they always made up for it. The atmosphere is historic and homey. Service is always prompt and friendly and they can make any drink you're in the mood for. Don't expect much for a restroom but we keep hoping they'll make it a priority soon. read more

Great small town cafe where it appears many locals eat. Not to far off Interstate 10, and definitely worth the time to stop in and enjoy some good food and service at very reasonable prices. All of the other positive reviews are 100% true. This is simply THE BEST food and service in Benson. My only regret is that close at 2:00PM. I visited about 3 times per week for a few weeks and never was there anything but fabulous food and service. Not only do they have the best burgers in town, and most other towns, they have great deserts - pies - cakes etc. I joked to a friend I would marry the owner for her pies alone :D If you've never been there please make the effort and enjoy the visit, you'll be sold. read more

My family and I stopped here for breakfast a couple of weeks back, and it was a total mess. We stopped by around 08:40 and was told it'd be about 15 minutes, which isn't a problem. Problem was, that wait turned into 45-50 minutes, and there were 4 tables and 2 booths that hadn't been cleaned off from the prior customers the whole time we were there. Just as we were about to leave, the hostess got around to bussing said tables, and suddenly the entire group of people waiting were seated. Our server was very friendly, but from the time we sat down to the time we paid, she came to our table 4 times. We sat ready to order with empty coffee cups for (I'm not kidding) 20 more minutes. During this time, the lights kept going out due to the space heaters popping fuses, which seemed to make everything and everybody stop what they were doing. We finally ordered, and the food came out in varying temperatures. While my daughters pancakes were piping hot and delicious, my biscuits and gravy were served cold. Luckily, gravy holds heat, so I mixed it up - they were delicious and are the only reason behind the 2nd star. When we finally got the check, I went to pay up front, which took another 10 minutes. While paying, when I asked how the hostess was doing, she responded with "well, we'll close for the day soon enough. I'll be much better then." All in all, our "quick bite" set us back 2 HOURS. I realized after our breakfast debacle that we had been here once before when we first moved to AZ, and it was the same kind of experience. If you've got no place to be, have a full charge on your phone, and want some great biscuits and gravy...this is your place. Otherwise, I'll never be back. read more

I had read that the Horseshoe Cafe and Bakery had great Chicken Fried Steak, so the hubby and I headed there for breakfast. Unfortunately their Chicken Fried Steak can't hold a candle to the one we get at our favorite Jerry Bob's (22nd and Kolb), but it was okay. The country fries were really good and the biscuits were HUGE and quite tasty. The ambiance is fun with the wall hangings and the old fashioned music selectors on the table, so we will return and try other items. read more

The first day, I couldn't ask for better! The second, though, the service was a bit bad, I had trouble getting refills and the check. Still. Kinda bummed, showed up just after 11:00am and they stop taking breakfast orders at 11:00. We seen plenty of breakfast orders getting served that looked really good. The lunch menu is nothing to brag about. The food we ordered wasn't nearly as good as the reviews we had read and I definitely wouldn't order it again. Not happy with where they sat us (feels like a dungeon) in the back corner next to the kitchen and the bar. There's a group at the bar that are obnoxiously loud and I can't even hold a conversation with my wife sitting across from me. Loved this Cafe. Nice setting in "downtown" Benson, with excellent, upbeat servers and delicious food. I had the ham steak which was HUGE, and cooked to perfection with a side of savory mashed potatoes and gravy. The soup was fantastic as well, and even though I could only eat half the ham steak and was stuffed with all this tasty yumminess, I order some homemade pie to go. It was also fantastic. I was in Benson for two weeks, and every time I asked the locals for a good place to eat, Horseshoe Cafe was always at the top of the list. I am making this a standard stop every time I am in the area. read more

Must say the food was very good! I had the Dijon chicken sandwich, which was very tasty. The Cole slaw on the side was slightly sweet and delicious. My husband had the turkey club and was unable to finish it as it was very large. My son had the horseshoe melt and he really liked it as well. The staff was super friendly! Food took awhile to come out, but they were slammed so it was understandable. Just don't be in a rush and you will have a lovely lunch! read more

This review regards a whole pie we purchased on a Monday afternoon. We stopped here to see what pies, if any, they had available (late afternoon) for purchase because we'd heard great things about them. We ordered a Banana Cream Pie and had to clarify with the very sweet cashier we wanted a WHOLE pie. It seemed to us almost as if the Horseshoe never sold an actual whole pie. Anyway, she quoted us a price of $35, and although it seemed a little steep, we took the plunge. We waited about 10 minutes for the pie, as it wasn't in the display case, and it was brought out, boxed and sealed. When we arrived home a half hour later, we opened it and found a pie, just the pie. There was no pie pan at all under it. We couldn't help thinking for $37.24 plus $5 tip they could have sprung for at least a foil pie pan! Anyway, the pie was good, definitely home-made, pre-cut into 7 pieces, but not $37.24 good. If we go back, we'll just go with a slice next time. read more

This place rocked our socks! When in Benson, you need to check this little slice of heaven out. I was lucky enough to come on an all you can eat fish fry evening. The cod was perfectly battered and was thick and flakey. The tarter sauce was on point. I didn't have to keep asking for more, our server gave me my own sauce dispenser! Service was amazing.
