We went there two nights in a row. It's that good. My husband and I were visiting Williamsburg for a long weekend away from our young kids. We found ourselves at The Hound's Tale for dinner the first night and then again on the second. The food is great (their Wagyu burger on a Portuguese roll is phenomenally good), their drinks are varied and well-made, and the staff is incredibly friendly. The atmosphere is casual with an upbeat vibe, and the whole place is decorated with sweet, quirky dog art. If we lived here, this would be our go-to restaurant for a meal with the kids (seemed very kid-friendly) or a drink with friends. read more

The food was amazing! So many items on the menu I wish I could have tried all of them! The menu seems very chef inspired. My sister-in-law and I shared two meals so we could try both - the Pumpkin Ravioli and the Mushroom Wellington - both were DEVINE! I ate here with my parents and husband. I kind of felt that the prices were a bit high for what we got, but we are in colonial Williamsburg, so I'm not surprised. My husband didn't like his burger sadly, and unfortunately he got a stomach ache shortly after dinner. I had the duck, which was cooked well, but the glass was too sweet for my liking. My husband and I were here for Valentine's Day and it was absolutely wonderful! We started with the fried Brussel sprouts appetizer. I don't even like Brussel sprouts (at all!), and these were scrumptious! For our entrees, my husband had the ravioli-sweet potato dish and I had the organic chicken. Both were unbelievably delicious! The flavors blended in the ravioli were beyond imagination how delicious it was. We shared a chocolate cake dessert with raspberry filling. Its presentation was so pretty, and it was as delicious as it looked! The staff were welcoming and friendly, and the service was quick and efficient. Everything was perfect here, and we can't wait to return on our next trip to Williamsburg. Don't miss this restaurant! read more

Wow! Where do I begin?? Found this place on Yelp while visiting Williamsburg, VA...and I was looking for a place that was locally owned and not a chain! The food here is absolutely amazing and the bar staff were attentive and friendly! Cocktails were really good and interesting. We had the fried Brussels sprouts and the crab stuffed tortellini they were amazing we had drinks and then got a burger to go since we were staying at a hotel that didn't have much around it. Geri is the absolute best....she creates all the drinks and we talked about how she used to be an animal cop/rescuer...she even shared some great pics! Absolutely love this place and would recommend everyone to try it out! read more

We were very excited try this new find in the heart of colonial Williamsburg. After calling ahead to make a reservation, we were thrilled to try it, especially the duck showed on the menu (that is no longer on the menu). Upon arrival, the 10 year old in my party was embarrassed when she was served soda in a kids cup. The burger that was ordered from our group medium rare was delivered well done and not hot accompanied by fries that were undercooked and also not hot. The scallops themselves were good, however, the risotto left lots to be desired. The server could have gone a long way to make the experience better, but did not seem to care about the experience nor food. It was a PAWSativly terrible experience. We definitely left with our paws between our legs. read more

We looked this place up on both Yelp and Trip Advisor. Let me say that none of the reviews are even remotely close to saying how good this place is. We went with my almost three year old and sat at a high top, with a booster seat. We walked in, and a local DJ was playing the piano right by the door asked my son his favorite song which he responded "Old MacDonald", and he played a rendition of it. This made my son so happy. Later on he also played a Mickey Mouse song as my son had one with him. The staff was wonderful. The interaction with my son was wonderful. They understand about placing an order for a toddler first, but honestly, it came out so quickly it wasn't necessary, and ours did as well. It was an absolutely great meal. If we were closer or a local, this would be my regular spot to go to. A couple of words of advice for patrons. The seating is a wide variety. High tops, bar seating some individual tables and community tables. Please do not let a little awkward seating arrangement send you away. People would think a high top with a toddler is out of the question , but he was so entertained and the food was quick there was never a look at a watch. If that wasn't available we would have taken a community table. We are not that picky, and when there is not waiting, why go somewhere else without trying it out. For the business, when there is a toddler, please ask before handing out the popcorn. It's recommended not for a child under the age of 4. And thank you for the great experience. First off, the level of service is relatively meaningless without good food. The food was excellent but the server (Karina) brought the experience to another level. My husband and I enjoyed our date night here. We ordered a mix of vegetarian appetizers and a salad, and desserts. Here's what we thought of each: Yuca Black Bean Tacos: these were our favorite item - complex flavor Pierogies - Pretty good, but could use a bit more flavor Fried Brussels - Pretty good Blend of Greens Salad - not worth it. There were four tiny figs and just not worth the price. Pan Bread - this was pretty good and maybe my husband's second favorite item Peanut Butter Cake - very good Espresso Tort - fine, but not as good as the peanut butter cake I would come back for the appetizers. read more

Came here because of great reviews. Got the street corn as appetizer. Thought it was going to be a corn on the cob but got kernels instead. Tasted decent. Then got the wagyu burger med rare. A little over cooked and didn't taste anything special. I didn't like the fries and didn't eat it. My waiter didn't come to me for a while at first but was fine afterwards. Careful what you order. I tried the "tacos." I bit into the taco and wondered where the fillings were. There was a small, little smear of sweet potato, a little smear of black bean paste, and some lime. Basically, it was a poor quality taco shell. Not at all delicious. I tried a quarter of it and gave it back to the waitress. It was inedible. I had two glasses of the 9 dollar California Pinot noir and was charged twice for the 12 dollar glass. Lots of excuses made. One of the diners ordered the scallops and really enjoyed them. If you're going to do unusual food combinations, make sure the final dish tastes good. Read the menu selections carefully. read more

This restaurant is debatably one of the best (and slowest) restaurants in the Williamsburg area. They have a great environment and lots of paintings of dogs inside of the building. I recently went to this restaurant with my family and we all loved it. For our appetizer, we ordered their Brussel sprouts. These were great, and we would definitely order them again. For my entree, I ordered their burger cooked medium well. For anyone ordering the burger, I would recommend having it cooked medium. My burger was burnt around the outside, but tasted good on the inside. The burger was full of great flavors, and I would order it again (but not cooked as long). We decided that we had enough room for a dessert, so we ordered the key lime pie. This was definitely my favorite part of the meal. The pie had an Oreo crust at the bottom, but you could still taste the slightly tart key lime. Overall, I would rate this restaurant a 4/5 for its great flavors and environment and would definitely come back. read more

Adequate food. Were it not for the good service, I would give this place one star. The portions are small and lacking in flavor. I've dined in restaurants that serve small portions that wow the palate. This place doesn't come close. The wild mushroom wellington was just forgettable. We had a food order botched twice. The manager apologized but we had finished our meals by then. We took our compatriot to the Baker's Crust to get his meal. I don't know if they have changed chefs but I can't imagine returning. This was our third visit and I feel bad for taking my brother in law there. read more

Dinner was nice. Vegan chickpea cakes were a welcomed treat for one of my companions while the other enjoyed sweet potato ravioli as well. My sea scallops were perfectly prepared, seasoned & carmelized nicely. Their beer selection is smaller but I enjoyed a sample flight before settling on their not too hoppy ipa. Stout and vanilla bean brown ale also nice to trial but definitely better suited for the coming cooler months. Amazing food. Loved the fried Brussels sprouts, the burger, and the shrimp and avocado. Also the chocolate peanut butter pie was by far the best I have ever had. The food , decor, and ambiance was definitely 5 Star. The only reason I gave it 4 was because of the service. The waitress was sweet as can be but we had to ask 3 times for napkins to clean up some spilled food so we did not put our arm in it and the appetizer came out before our drinks.
