We had an awesome dinner here tonight. The owner helped us with our wine selection and we enjoyed chatting with him. The food was super and we had a variety of entrees. I had the baby back ribs and they were fall off the bone delicious. My husband had the porterhouse steak and raved about it. My friend had the fillet and it was cooked to perfection, while her husband had the brisket and didn't leave a morsel. I can't tell you about the desserts because we were too full have any! I had heard this was the place to eat in Show Low. Not. We got there as it opened (at 4 pm). So it was quiet. As soon as we sat down the waitress wanted to know what we wanted to eat. Told her we needed time to look at menu and ordered drinks and calamari. About 25 min later our drinks and calamari showed up. The calamari looked like cheese sticks and were hard. Ordered our meal another 40 min. The chicken sandwich was very spicy (didn't mention that in menu) and the roast beef was dry and tasted like cardboard. Overall we were there a bit over 2 hours, for sandwiches. Was not worth the price. read more

Great food and friendly, timely service. We had the calamari for an appetizer - really good. All mains were also excellent. Fish tacos and fish & chips were shockingly good, especially considering that the location is a bit of a drive from the sea. The smoked ribs were perfect. Hanna was friendly and always ready to help. On our first visit, the service was so slow, we almost walked out. However, the food was fantastic! I had a filet and my husband had the porterhouse steak. We forgave the slowness because they were busy. A few weeks later, we visited again. AGAIN, very slow service! We waited almost 45 minutes for our meal to arrive; then our waitress said our food was "being plated" and that took another 15 minutes. So, my advise ....if you are not in a hurry, it is worth the wait. But they really need to get more help in the kitchen or more servers. read more

Pleasant dinner experience on a busy Friday night. We thought we got there early but at 5:10 the place was packed. But we only waited about 15 minutes for a table. We ordered drinks while we waited, $3 for a scotch and soda. Bread and honey butter came to our table immediately. We ordered the grilled salmon and the fish and chips with dinner salads, the salads were large, crisp and delicious. Salmon was cooked perfectly. The fish was also excellent. Excellent food, huge portions and exceptional customer service. I cannot remember the last time I had the owner of a restaurant personally introduce himself and ask our names, it was a very nice touch. We sat in the section with arm chairs, probably the most comfortable close to home meal you can have. Our car club went here for dinner, about 24 people total. We were using a small side dining area that had it's own bar. We were assigned one bartender and one waitress. The restaurant should have assigned more help, as service was very slow and erratic. At our table of six, one person got their food, and no other plates were served for 10 minutes. My wife finally got her order 20 minutes later. They tried to serve me my order a second time. Beer and wine was served in plastic cups, a small amount, but full price, about $6 for a half plastic cup. Once we did get food, it was good, not great, but OK. Orders were mixed up, bills were confused and it took a long time to pay. Would hate to see a large group plan an event here. $90 dinner for two. read more

This is the second time we have tried this place. We went when they were first open and felt that they needed more time to get the restaurant together. It was horrible again. Very unpleasant hostess, confused about any questions we had. They still don't have a any drink menus. All of that I could look past, but to have our server walk past us so many time without any acknowledgement is beyond frustrating. Read a lot of the reviews and had to give it a try. Wholly SNIKIES the food is excellent. I tried the brisket and probably one of the best I've had ( this includes Nashville, Florida, NC ,KC -etc) who would of expected that in Show Low Az. The sides were spot on- the beans are also excellent. Terrible experience. The only thing that stopped me from walking out was our awesome waiter Steve. We waited for more than two hours for our meals and then the kitchen somehow mixed our ticket with another table so two of us received the wrong meal. Upon notifying the manager they brought my meal out and I told her the sides were incorrect. She brought the proper sides out and then asked me to grab a hot baked potato by hand and hand it to her. She then left the table uttering a few profanities. Zero professionalism from the manager, and terrible customer service from her. To top the night off, my fiancé and me got sick from the food and we're forced in the bathrooms all night. I will never return to this place and will never recommend it to anyone. read more

Went out for a birthday dinner with my family. Bread was stale . We got some appetizers, wings and fried pickles . The wings were decent but pickles were way to salty . Then dinner, Got the ribs and boy were they terrible. They were dry and completely covered in a barbecue sauce that had the consistency of pancake syrup. They were almost inedible. Ordered a salad on the side. Was tiny and had no flavor. Only thing that was good was the service from our waitress. Won't be back anytime soon read more

I was excited to try this place when I was in town planning for my daughters wedding. They had a decent menu, although some stuff seemed pricey. Service was just ok, but the table next to us was forgotten some how. We all felt bad when our food came up and they were still waiting. Brent from the bar seemed to get things recovered for them and even checked in on us. It wasn't a horrible experience, just no silverware, forgot some sides. Took awhile to get ranch etc. Food was good. But I was very happy with the bill. It was under $50 for 4. So guess it wasn't pricey after all, or we ordered well. Cute place I'll go back. Oh they really should cancel open seating. We wanted one of the cute 4 tops by the window but they were taken by a 2 top and even a single person sitting at the 4 top table. The reviews about bad service were 100% correct....TERRIBLE SERVICE. Right when we walked through the door the hostess was off putting. We sat at our table for awhile contemplating whether to leave because no one ever stopped by. Our waitress finally arrived (no personality or didn't bother to apologize for the wait) and got our drinks. And that was the last of our experience because she never came back so we excused ourselves. By the way this wasn't my first time here, we thought I'd be worth trying again. Highly attentive service, good food. The little cornbreads offered as soon as you sit down are a friendly touch. Arrived on a Friday night about 6 pm and no waiting. We weren't up for a heavy meal so we avoided the meat options and opted for cocktails, light appetizer, soup and sandwich. Homemade clam chowder with added bits of bacon and even shrimp. We waited so long for them to open and it was worth the wait. It was very busy on a Friday night so a bit of a wait was expected. Plus as folks who live up here on the mountain know anything new gets slammed in the beginning. First off we ordered the shrimp cocktail and OMG was it delicious! They grill the shrimp! My wife got one of their salads that had everything you could think of and it was huge! I had the Covered Wagon and it was very good. The staff was friendly and even knocked a few bucks off the bill since it took awhile to get the food due to them being so busy. This past Saturday we went down to this restaurant for a birthday dinner and it's normally our favorite spot as we go every weekend for their prime rib , today was a whole different experience we got there at 4pm and waited about 45 minutes to 60 minutes for our meal and when we got it five prime ribs came out and they were completely rare and cold not even warm to the touch we then asked the waitress in a polite way if we can get them heated however when we got them back they were still rare . And not that warm again to the touch we proceeded to just leave it be and not wanting to make a big deal however I just think it's pretty awful that we paid a $250 bill with zero kinda compensation for what we dealt with . They owner Scott was walking around and heard us talking about what was going on and did not even ask if everything is okay. Tonight is the last night that we will have a dinner here anymore maybe cattleman's will have better service ! Now we are at home cooking our prime rib ourselves probably would have been better priced to just buy our own meat and cook it ourselves since we had to do it anyways !! read more

If 3.8 was possible, that's what would accurately describe this place. Coming from the valley, this food is mediocre. Burnt ends werent great at all, sauce tasted like cheap store bought. Corn bread was good but a tad dry. Wife got the philly cheese sandwich and it was sub par as well. Service when we got to our table was good but prior it took 1 hour to get seated and they care more about bigger parties than first come first served. I understand that to a degree, if only bigger tables are available, but they sat 4 seperate groups that had no reservations before us and waited 5 minutes. We were 40 minutes in when they started doing that. Never seen that before and almost pissed me off to the point that I was going to leave. If you want okay food and a long wait at night, this is the place for you! read more

Waited for the restaurant to transition to the new ownership for quite some time. Must say it was worth the wait. My family and I went on opening night late into service. Scott and Eric were great to visit with. Although a bit of a wait to get our food, it was expected with as busy as it was. Once we got our food it was amazing. We finally had the opportunity to try out the hungry buffalo and I'm glad we did. We hung out at the bar and ordered lunch. I was suprised to see the entire menu available during lunch hours. We are in town visiting from Phoenix and our friends insisted we had to try this place out. Wow, were we ever impressed. This restaurant is not your typical local yocal. The decor is country in a tasteful way not kitschy or, overdone and the menu is affordable. Don't even get me started on the portion sizes! LOVE!!! The first day we came we had the bison burger and it was amazing!!! The thing I was really impressed with was the delicious bun which, I believe was brioche. I especially loved the selection of smoked meat straight from the smoker and homemade Mac and cheese. Did I mention the corn bread, the list goes on and on. We just had to return a second time and spoke with the owner who is a kind hearted man who you can tell truly loves what he does and it shows! This place is a must visit, again and again and we will certainly be back for the summer bands and BBQ in the barn. read more

We are locals, loved this when it first opened. Food was fabulous. Been there twice this summer and both times had the ny strip. It was fatty, disgusting and wasn't even cooked on a grill. They cut into the steak to check the temperature and apparently it must have been under cooked because it looked like it had been nuked. What kind of steak House cuts into their steaks to check the doneness.... Not a good one. The owner/chef or person in charge used to be in house all the time. Last two times no one around. My wife and I made a reservation mid week for Saturday night dinner at the Buff. I ordered the Brisket, my wife had the prime rib sandwich. The service was attentive, the food was outstanding.
