Do not bother calling ahead, the woman on the phone doesn't know what she's doing, they apparently aren't able to save orders and the staff just overall had a general lack of cognitive ability. I ordered this through DoorDash, so I don't know much about the ambience there. But the food was absolutely superb and I can tell by the time and effort they took to pack the items we ordered very carefully and secure that the service there would likely be top-notch. They fulfilled my request perfectly, providing extra feta where I asked or deleting items I didn't wish on my salad, for example. The food is very, very tasty and authentic for sure!! Had lunch with my mom after not living here for the last four years and its still great. Tampa, unlike Austin TX, has a few Greek places you have your pick of but this location was so nice. A great welcome when you come through the door and excellent service. I wanted to try a few things and the young lady taking my order helped me figure out how to do a falafel plate with a change of sides and a side of fries, so thank you girl. The music was lovely and Greek and it gets pretty loud between the music, cooks in the kitchen and filled tables but if you are dining in you just take your number and they bring your food out to you. Some folks even came by and offered to get us drinks, clear the table and check on us which was unexpected and welcomed. When I think of fast food Greek cuisine in Wesley Chapel/New Tampa without compromising freshness, flavor and finance, I think of The Hungry Greek. I got introduced to this location this year (2022) and it's definitely my go-to when I'm looking for quick service, fresh food, great flavor and great portions for a reasonable price. I have had a few hit and misses with the temperature of my beef (which I told the owner) but it still hasn't stopped me from patronizing because it's healthy, it tastes good, they have one of the better side Greek salads and not eye-gouging in price. The side spinach pie was hot and tasty. The salad was fabulous. The only thing I didn't care for was the bus your own dishes vibe. I hate this in places. The Hungry Greek is some of the best Greek food around. It never disappoints. And it's relatively inexpensive. The salad is good, and so is the pita bread and euro meat. This was a very good fast casual restaurant. It's Greek food -- better than some sit down full service places here. You order and pay at the counter. They give you a number and then bring your order to the table. It is served with plastic ware and on disposable plates... We came with some family and everyone -- even the kids -- found something they liked to order. We had a cup of their lemon chicken soup. It was quite lemony and served piping hot (it was cool out). It didn't even need any salt, as this type of soup usually does, but there was more than enough lemon for flavor. There were even nice chunks of chicken along with the rice in the broth. We also shared a gyro platter with Greek salad. The salad was fresh with olives, feta, beets, tomatoes, green peppers, etc. I liked the dressing on it as well. There was lots of gyro meat on top of the salad and yellow rice (with veggies mixed in) -- so the portion was certainly large enough to share. A small container of tzatziki sauce and pita bread wedges, too, also came with the plate I'd certainly come back here again in the future. Prices were reasonable and the food was tasty. read more

This place packs em in every day at lunch and dinner. They have all kinds of Greek food...gyros...salads....bowls....skewers.... This is my wife's favorite Greek restaurant in the entire Tampa/St Pete area. We drive past other ones to get here, including a good one right by our house. My favorite dish is the gyro sandwich. You want to add something to it, like fries, to make a full meal. If you like Greek though, you won't be disappointed by any of the dishes. They are fresh and prepared right as you order. They then bring it to your table if you are eating there. Many get their food to go because it does get crowded with limited seating remaining during the busy times. If you go early or late you have a much better shot at quick order and getting a table. But this place hustles to get your food ready to dine. And the employees there are always friendly. read more

When I think of Greek food my first thought is to go to Little greek. But no, I wanted this time to be different, nonidentical, contrasting, divergent. It wasn't. I was very appalled with my food. The service was great a beautiful young lady helped me through my whole experience! But the food was way below par. Not only was it below par but you are hit with an eyesore when you walk in. Beautiful glass windows and then a slab of wood with caution tape. Not only did I decide to try this place two times in a row just incase I was missing something but the food was bad both times. Fries- 9/10 Would recommend -Great flavor -Crispy Chicken Pita- 3/10 -Not much to say -chewy -rubbery -Little Greek is better Don't even get me started on the "stuffed grape leaves" Dolmades- 0/10 Would not recommend AT ALL. - Tasted like medicine - Disgusting "soup" on them - Tzatziki sauce didn't help one bit All in all, If you are miserable and looking for attention and great service but have covid and can't taste a thing this is the place for you! read more

Decided to go to my favorite Greek spot in Wesley chapel for some take out. Conveniently Located right across from the hospital on 581. They have a full menu of Greek dishes that are made fresh. NO fresh lemon but they did offer lemon packets. Gyro meat is tasty and salad ingredients are fresh. Pita is not the freshest but is fine. Service is quick and efficient and the staff is friendly. I ordered the hungry pita which is like a regular gyro but includes a lot of extra fixings like hummus, olives, lettuce, and feta cheese. The lemon, chicken rice soup is perfect. It's creamy and isn't too overpowering with the lemon flavor. My coworker got the Greek salad and her review is that "it's great". Service is wonderful and the workers are friendly. I have eaten at the hungry Greek several times. Each time I go the quality goes down. The last time I went was about 2 months ago and the portion sizes have gotten a lot smaller and the prices have gone up way up for what you get. It's really sad too because when I first started going to them they were fairly new and the food was much more fresh. The service was much better too. People were more attentive than now. It just seems like they're just doing a job. No smiles hardly any hello. How are you? Sort of things whenever you come in. I will tell you that there isn't much ambience because it's a little tiny restaurant with only a few chairs inside and possibly a few chairs and tables outside. No trees or shade or anything like that. The original hungry Greek was over off of racetrack road going towards oldsmar. The last one that I went to was the one over here in Wesley Chapel and the quality had really gone down and the portions were much smaller. I don't know if I'll go back and try it again or not. I doubt the portions have changed but I'm sure the prices have gone up. read more

I went in yesterday to order 3 gyros and to my dismay got home and discovered that the entire pita bread for all 3 sandwiches was rock hard, not just on the edges. The employees had to have known that they were serving old or extremely stale bread as they passed it off. Needless to say by the morning the entire family had severe nausea and "digestive issues". 5 Stars because the place was jumping busy, yet the service was exceptional. The employees were really nice and the owner was engaging. The Gyro dinner was more than I could even attempt to eat. My wife had a huge salad with everything but the kitchen sink in it. It had beets in it so I draw the line there. If you see the pictures, we got SO Much food for under $20. I love places that are melting pots where you have people from all walks just coming together in one place, no one knows each other but everyone has to eat and with that theme, people are smiling, laughing and conversing. The place was clean, including the restrooms, it didn't have that weird smell that seems to be specific to Olive Garden and Golden Corral. We'll definitely check them out again. read more
