I understand the whole shrinkflation thing, with the smaller boxes. But the burnt chicken in the jambalaya is unexcusable. If you're going to use old, burnt chicken put it in the gumbo. Pastalaya was very good wasn't dry at all, jambalaya was good but a bit dry, corn was good, green beans are good needs a bit more seasoning. The potato salad is ok, probably used to much mustard and mashed it too much. The boudin balls were disgusting, my partner said they tasted like the meat had gon bad. I don't mind paying $88 to go out to eat with my family if it's worth the $88. We got there @5 pm. There was no plates or bowls out. Hardly any food on the buffet. The rice for the gumbo was hard and the rice in the jambalaya was mushy. The pasta was over cooked and had hard dried up pieces in it. Everything was cold or luke warm. They had no desserts out. I did call in advance and asked if the food was spicy cause I had 3 people in my family that can't have spicy food and he told me the only thing that was a little spicy was the gumbo. My 3 kids didn't eat cause it was too spicy. So I paid for nothing. I will not go back. Waste my time and money. They don't even deserve 1 star. read more

I love this place. It's always a peaceful lunch here. Food is always hot and usually always great. I have never had a bad experience here with food. The Jambalaya is the way I like it made. It's spiced right and full of chicken. Some people make jambalaya at home and I just cant eat it. I only like this place's the best kind. I wish more people would eat here and support this business. This was my first time having gumbo and I will say that I was very disappointed. For this to be my first time, and the first place to try it, I will not be returning to this location. We traveled 8 hours from Texas to visit our family in town, and we have been having a taste for some seafood gumbo. My brother in law took us to The Jambalaya Shoppe and at first, we were ready for the experience. One thing we did wrong, was not check the food before we left the restaurant. When we got home, we opened up the bags not knowing what to expect but it was to a displease. I got the chicken and sausage gumbo, and my boyfriend got the seafood gumbo. We opened up his container, and it was just soup. We couldn't believe that we paid $11.99 for broth. We called The Jambalaya Shoppe and the cashier "Tiffany" laughed on the phone. She asked us to come back in. We drove back and NOT ONCE did she apologize. We walked into the restaurant, she took the food from me, went into the kitchen, came out and gave me the bag. I opened it up and it was much better the second time around. My brother in law asked what happened when they first fixed our order. She said I don't know what they do in the kitchen, I just work here while she laughed. Still no apology!!!! He then asked if we could get a upgrade for the inconvenience of having to come back to the restaurant, she said I can't do anything about that. We asked what about the guy in the kitchen that fixed the food, she said, no he can't do anything either because neither of them are Managers. Customer service 101 - I have been in customer service for over 30 years working in roles starting from a CSR1 up to a Asst Manager in Customer Service and one thing I will say "The Customer is ALWAYS right". Especially in our situation, my brother had mentioned to Tiffany that we were from out of town, and that he brought us in to try their gumbo. Why wouldn't you want to accommodate your customer especially first expressions mean a lot. Word of mouth goes a long way. read more

This was my second time eating here and really enjoyed the buffet. The staff was friendly, one of them, maybe the manager or owner, checked on us twice, was quick to clean up messes, and told us to have a great day when we left. Disappointed would be an understatement! Got there at 7 pm employee seemed to be cleaning up for the night and uninterested in providing any customer service or even interacting. We had never been there before so had a few questions about the menu. A few items were unavailable so he suggested we go elsewhere...should've taken his advice. The chicken and sausage gumbo was terribly greasy. Sausage was dry and I'm pretty sure the "chicken" was actually turkey. It was room temperature at best! The jambalaya was cold and sticky. This was the first restaurant I went to in Louisiana and man oh man, it was great! I'm from Texas so of course I wanted to come here for some true Cajun cuisine. I had some seafood gumbo along with a buffet plate. The gumbo was SUPER good and I loved how the spices merged together so well. The buffet will fill you up fast but I managed to save some room for the mud pudding which was very tasty. The workers there were so kind and I love the personality they have. First, this used to be a great place to get good jambalaya or Pastalaya, plates always filled with plenty of meat. Last time we order, 2 plates of Pastalaya had no sausage and maybe 2 barely there pieces of chicken. But what really got me was just now, I ordered from DoorDash, usually how I order, I spent $60 and received a Jambalaya Shoppe Combo; I didn't receive the Pastalaya Dinner or Jambalaya Dinner I ordered also. I tried to resolve this with DoorDash, and that didn't get me anywhere but we can resolve it within 24 hours. Now I figured the dasher left a bag so I call the dasher and he says no, so I call the restaurant and tell them I have proof I ordered 3 dinners. Whoever answered the phone said, yeah, we only received an order for the Shoppe Combo? I tell him I have a receipt and proof and he tells me, I'm sorry. We tasted the potato salad that is potato salad that is almost pure sugar tasting first off but decided to try something else any way. Order 1 was pastalya wich was bland and colorless. 2 was the chicken stew with corn and green beans again the stew had little flavor or seasoning and green beans the same. Order 3 was the white beans plate wich comes with sausage to start the sausage was not cooked in the beans like normal people do the beans was straight out of a blue runner can heated and served no spice no seasoning at all took 1/4 of a bottle of hot sauce to get any flavor at all. Just say no. My partner asked how hot the Jambalaya was and the counter person said not very hot. My partner still had reservations, so the counter person brought us a sample. My partner was pleased that it wasn't very hot. I figured I would make due by adding hot sauce. The Jambalaya and a roll were only $6.99 so I doubled down and ordered the Seafood Gumbo also. The Jambalaya was bland with some strange tasting chicken and very little sausage. My partner didn't even notice the sausage at all. There were no visible onions and certainly no green onions on top. It was the end of the day so I will excuse the sticky rice. I added a bunch of their very mild hot sauce, but it couldn't save the Jambalaya. If you want 100% better Jambalaya, buy a package of ZATARAIN'S Jambalaya Mix (Spicy variety of you can find it), substitute Shiner Bock Beer for the water, 1/2 pound of thinly sliced andouille sausage, 1/2 pound of small chunked chicken tenders. Cook according to directions and top generously with chopped green onions. The Seafood Gumbo was somewhat better, but the only identifiable seafood was cocktail sized shrimp. They are a fast food place and don't have beer. I thought Cajuns drank beer with everything. This place might pass for decent 500 miles of more from Louisiana, but no where near good enough for Louisiana. read more

The food is consistently very good but yesterday I was somewhat disappointed. I got the pastalaya to go and when I opened it at home, there was way too much chicken, some in big chunks, and very little sausage. However the overall serving was generous. Would recommend the pot be stirred and look to see what you're scooping out to make sure there is more proportion with the chicken and sausage. Also the pasta was blander than usual.
