First let me start off with I love the Joint and I have loved my experience the last two years, however this last week last weekend was horrible. I am not sure what a proper adjustment is and since I am not a doctor, I have always associated a good adjustment with my back, neck or hips cracking after some pressure by the doctor. Well over the weekend my boyfriend and I went in for our regular adjustment and the doctor we saw, basically massaged gently our back and necks, with no real adjustment. The last few visits have been with various different doctor and I didn't enjoy that. I enjoyed this place when I saw the same two or three doctor and they reviewed my notes with me. I hope things change soon or I will have to cancel my membership. read more

I walk in and there were 2 people in front of me to check in so I sat down and got on my phone since the lady in the front desk was talking to the patient. I had overheard her saying she usually doesn't work at this location and is just filling in for someone. I proceed to go on my phone and out of no where, I hear this lady working at the front desk snapping her finger to get my attention. I played it cool bc once I start, it doesn't stop. I just came to this location. Saturday, March 7, 2020 at 4:15 pm to see a chiropractor because my lower back is in excruciating pain and it's running down the side f my left leg. Can barely walk!!! They advertise Walk-In Welcome. So I walked in (barely) To be told that they are not taking New Patients at this time. The receptionist can see that I'm barely able to stand little yet Walk!!! Although I told her I'm in too much pain. She went to Ask the Dr and told me No Sorry but here is paperwork you can fill out and bring back tomorrow.WTF!!! I'm a person that has a High tolerance for pain and this is past that point, causing me to have an upset stomach. I would give this False Advertising Establishment a negative 5 stars. The receptionist at this location was very unprofessional. Her lack of concern and increased apathy towards me and my circumstance was appalling. Based off of her "better than" demeanor, I assume she is a preppy girl that feels empowered from an upbringing in a higher-class neighborhood. Although assuming may not always be the best thing to do and I may be way off in estimating her upbringing, the experience of her indifferent attitude was/is spot on. My advice for the company would be to train their employees to be more mindful of the customer. Using company protocol as a defense tool, even before defense is needed, is not cool! Oh, and please stop using that same, stupid ploy of "oh I've seen you here before" - I've been there twice and both times were different employees using the same line. read more

I wish I could put more stars for this review because all of the doctors in this office have always had great attitudes have been helpful and have helped heal lower back issues I've struggled with. This review more so reflects the appalling customer service of one receptionist by the name of Jill. My first poor encounter happened with her several months ago where she was too busy on her phone to address the waiting list of patients so I had to escort myself to the back to the doctor assuming it was my turn since the previous patient had already left, leaving me sitting there waiting for a significant amount of time. She simply looked up at me and said, "Oh yeah sure you can go back now." With an insincere apology upon my leaving, she gave me an unkind look as I left the office. Today I called to inquire whether there were any referral benefits, as a friend was interested in receiving services from this location. Rather than answering yes or no she responded with a very vague response, which she herself described her response as, and it didn't answer my question. At one point she said that the office offers benefits when I asked what that meant, she couldn't say. I asked to speak with someone else. She put me on hold and hung up on me. When I called back she referred me to the corporate office. All the while, skirting herself of any responsibility or accountability for her poor customer service. She was rude, raised her voice at me, and avoided my direct questions for contact information of the owner of that location. Absolutely appalling customer service. She should not be the face of this office cause her lack of professionalism overrides the entire review this business. Unacceptable on all fronts and a disgrace to the work of the doctors. She should be fired. This is not appropriate customer service behavior or demeanor. read more

My five stars are specifically for Dr. Karl Standifer. He is outstanding. Seeing him is like receiving A+ private practice care with the convenience of a walk-in clinic. He has a firm yet gentle delivery, excellent bedside manner, and a tangible gift for healing. All of the adjustments I have received from him have been thorough and offered great relief. I am in week 37 of my third pregnancy and I try to see him once a week. I would recommend him to anyone, any age, pregnant or not. Cannot say enough great things or recommend him highly enough. I purchased the Groupon deal for The Joint services, and was pleasantly surprised at the experience. The Joint is aesthetically pleasing, staff was friendly and welcoming, and the Chiropractors are top notch. You walk in, fill out the usual medical forms, and then wham-bam-thank-you-man you are in the back on the table and then out the door feeling better. The doctors each had excellent credentials and a bed side manner you hope for in doctors. I have visited the one in Long Beach and Lakewood, and had excellent experiences at both. I would not hesitate to refer others and have done so already. I also encourage and hope that they will consider bringing one to West LA sooner rather than later. read more

Arrived at The Joint around 12:10. Reception told me that the chiropractor had left to go get her lunch and would be back in about 15 minutes. I remarked that they had just opened at 10 am and the chiropractor had already gone out for lunch. After waiting for approximately 20 minutes the chiropractor finally walked through the door. Never acknowledge anyone in the waiting room. Never said, "Sorry to keep you waiting or I"LL be right with you." Nothing. I waited another 3-4 mins and still no chiropractor. I got up and said to the receptionist, "Great customer service you have here." I walked out. Maybe the chiropractor decided to stay in the back and eat the lunch she went to buy. read more

Walked in late on a Saturday after injuring my lower back and having some tremendous pain. I've been to chiropractors before with mixed success and I certainly wasn't too optimistic that a chain chiropractor would do the trick, but I was willing to give it a shot. After filling out the initial paperwork- waited about 20 minutes and Dr Standifer met with me to discuss the issue. After a 10 minute session with some pretty tough adjustments, he sent me on my way. Next morning- zero pain.. Some twinges, but certainly not to the level it was before the visit. I'm certainly a fan now! Great, attentive service at the front desk and with the doctor. They will try to get you to sign up for a package- beware of that, but honestly, if you can save some money on multiple visits, not a bad deal at all. read more

I saw Dr. Karl Standifer. He was amazing. I told him about my migraines and he said, "let me try something and you can let me know if you prefer this instead of our regular adjustment." He tried it, I loved it. Facility is very well kept. Very clean. The receptionist was amazing. She was a true sweetheart. Dr. Standifer was pleasant and made the visit enjoyable. I would recommend this location and the Lakewood location. This was my second visit to The Joint Chiropractic clinic. First visit at this location. I am sure the Drs. see plenty of patients, I really enjoy how the Drs. take the time to get to know you as a person. I was skepical about chiros for many years. I was also in a lot of leg pain for a couple of months which turns out to be sciatica. So for $19 my friend insisted I go. I went two times in two days and the immediate pain was relieved. I've been going now about once a week on their family plan. I have learned a lot about their philosophy and my body has improved a lot more becuase of their knowledge and abilities. If you go ask questions. These two chiros know a lot and have an extensive background for helping people and training them. I may end up a customer for life. You really don't risk much at all and you, as I did, have a lot of pleasurable time to gain. read more

I purchased the Groupon for 4 adjustments. I felt like the chiropractor at the first Joint I went to (Long Beach) wanted to adjust me quickly and I didn't feel comfortable asking for an ankle adjustment. The second chiropractor (Los Alamitos) I went to was good. On the third adjustment (Los Alamitos), the chiro pulled my neck (as I requested) but after two pulls, he did 3-4 hard pulls more and I could not move on the table. He said a rib popped out. I went back for my last Groupon to another chiro (at Los Al). at that location and it was okay. I will never sacrifice quality for price again when it comes to chiropractic. The Joint is good in theory but that kind of high number, low price adjustment style doesn't work for me. I'd rather pay more and have more quality attention and skill. One more thing--I noticed some of the chiros were just out of school (I asked how long one had been practicing for and the receptionist just said 'he's young'). I would not recommend The Joint franchises to anyone unless you the doctor. read more

This is a long overdue update from my initial experience. I did end up signing up for a membership and even made it a family membership by adding and bringing my mom for chiropractic services. Due to scheduling conflicts I was only able to keep my membership for two months. This is where I noticed a change in the attention and services. After canceling my membership, Dr Barr significantly decreased a lot of the attention and procedures he did when I first started visiting this location. Towards the end I always felt rushed and as if he was not interested in my business, much less providing the same exceptional medical attention he provided when I first visited. I did go in once to be seen by Dr Keenan and I must admit that I really liked him. He was very friendly, very professional and actually applied some different techniques that really helped. Above all, I asked him some of the same questions I asked Dr Barr and actually received replies that provided clarification. During the last few days, Asia, the front desk receptionist was also no longer available and the girl that was in her place lacked some serious customer service skills and charisma. She always looked like she was bothered by the customer traffic and simply did not want to be there. Overall, I achieved temporary relief from my back pains that I was looking for. In all fairness, my mother also found relief for some of her back pains and even for her stiff neck, both which she developed from a work injury. Almost 2 years since her industrial accident, my mom was finally able to move her head sideways again, thanks to the chiropractic services she received at the joint. Another ailment that we both received help for was pains from sciatic nerve flare ups. Dr Barr also recommended we put heat on our backs when the nerve flares up and I admit this helps a lot more than pain killers. I do recommend this place; although I admit that I have no other chiropractic services to compare it to. I do know the prices are a lot more reasonable than other chiropractors I have looked into. read more

My time is very valuable to me, and I do not like going to the chiropractor and being put on a rolling table for 30 minutes before my 5 minute adjustment.
