I have been using The Joint Chiropractic for over 10 years across three different locations, and this is by far the worst branch I have ever experienced. They are extremely dishonest, manipulative with wait times, and completely disregard their patients' time. Here is what happened to me over the last three weeks: 2 weeks ago: I checked in at 1:15 PM and waited for 50 minutes. Only one person was ahead of me in the lobby, but I watched 4 people who arrived after me go in within 5 to 10 minutes. When I asked the front desk staff, Gaby, she explained that if patients check in earlier, she tells them the exact time to return. Once they come back at that designated time, they get to go in right after the current patient finishes--meaning they were constantly jumping ahead of those waiting in the lobby. 1 week ago: I arrived at 4:25 PM. Gaby wasn't at the front desk, so Raymund checked me in and said I was all set. After waiting 20 minutes, Gaby showed up and bluntly told me I couldn't be seen today and should go home. When I explained that Raymund had already checked me in, she rudely asserted that if I don't check in specifically with her, it doesn't count. When I argued back, she claimed she was "making an exception" for me today, while completely dodging the question of what Raymund's purpose even is at the front desk. She then told me afternoon hours are too busy and advised me to come in the morning when it's much quieter. Today: Taking her advice, I showed up in the morning at 10:30 AM. Gaby told me there were two new patients, so it would take longer, and explicitly instructed me to return at 11:30 AM. When I asked if I could track the waiting list online, she said no and promised she would manage it and get me in right on time. I returned at 11:20 AM and let her know I was back. I ended up waiting until 12:10 PM while watching others go in. When I confronted Gaby about why I was forced to wait an extra 40 minutes after coming back strictly at the time she set, she didn't offer a single word of apology. Instead, she coldly remarked, "You are just one of 135 patients I see a day," and told me the grandmother who went in before me had also waited 100 minutes. She then sarcastically told me that if I don't want to wait 100 minutes, I should drive to the El Cajon location--a branch that is 40 minutes away. I don't mind waiting if there is transparency. But because of her terrible estimates and moving goalposts, my entire family--who was waiting for me so we could have lunch together--got completely exhausted and stressed out. My kids even blamed me for not keeping my word. This place will waste your precious time and give you extreme mental stress before you even get to see a chiropractor. After 10 years of loyal membership with The Joint, I am deeply disappointed. I strongly recommend avoiding this location at all costs. read more

Then the next month I see on my credit card statement I was charged $79.00 . Called and was informed that is a reoccurring charge, $79.00 for ever and ever. Asked for a refund since I was not even in the office during that period. NOPE no refunds. You can fill out a form and if approved I can cancel. Waiting to see if I have been approved to cancel. I had a very frustrating experience with this location. On 12/30/2024, I twisted my lower back around 6 p.m., and I remembered hearing about "The Joint Chiropractic." I rushed over, hoping to get some relief, but when I arrived at 6:51p.m., the office was already closed--even though their website clearly states they close at 7 p.m. on weekdays. No one was there, which was disappointing. I decided to return the next day, 12/31, when I arrived at 11 a.m., only to be told that they weren't accepting new patients due to it being New Year's Eve. I was suggested to try the Mira Mesa location, well. Ok. 20 mins away. I left a nice smile to the beautiful front desk lady, then gone. What else I can say. Then, I called the Mira Mesa location, and they explained that they were also unable to take new patients due to being short-staffed and handling overflow from other locations. This was my first visit, and it will definitely be my last. If you're going to advertise that you accept new patients and walk-ins, you should honor that, no matter the holiday or staffing issues. unprofessional! that's all I can say. read more

We drove 45 minutes for an apt at 4:30 PM. At 5PM, we asked how long we should anticipate for our visit/apt? The girl at the front desk sharply replied, "I can't tell you that!" He will get to you when he is done with the other patients." I then responded that I saw about 8-10 people go back while we were in the front waiting area and would like to know how many patients are ahead of us, she curtly responded, "I can't tell you that-at least 2." If you are going to run a successful patient business, it all starts with the first touch points and hire someone who is kind and can at least tell you how many patients went ahead of you while you were in the wait area. The Joint has great doctors and I've been a patient for many years, even recommended the service to others (and got a friend joined and became a patient). Front desk is flippant. Unfortunately, the business/admin side has left a lot to be desired. 3.5 MONTHS of being UNREACHABLE due to phone issues. NO ALTERNATIVE WAYS to reach the business was provided, even after issues were raised to the manager and suggestions were conveyed multiple times to provide ways to reach the clinic (at the very least, update the voicemail to notify people and repair ETA). Other ways would be much better, text or e-mail with timely response. Voicemail greeting does NOT notify paying patients or potential customers about phone issues and that the office is NOT able to receive messages or is reachable. Voicemail greeting still says hours have changed since May 11, 2023 (a year ago). It's IRRESPONSIBLE to let callers think the phone is working and callers leaving messages NOT knowing it's NOT. It's UNACCEPTABLE as a MEDICAL FACILITY to be UNREACHABLE for 3.5 MONTHS (since November 2023 and counting!) with NO ALTERNATIVE WAYS to reach the clinic and NO ETA of when the issues will be fixed. It's very important that patients are able to call (or text or e-mail, if phone is not available) to know which doctor is present and available (in addition to regular schedules, due to vacation or illness or other absences), wait time, availability before closing. WASTE of time of driving and not having the doctor available or long wait time when we have to rush out and not knowing if we could be seen towards closing time. Let me begin by explaining that I should be considered somewhat expert in receiving Chiropractic care. I have been going to chiropractors for 3 decades. I have used chiropractors to fix physical issues many times. There have been some years when I made weekly visits. I have been to more than five different chiropractors in the past 20 years in San Diego. I have been going to this location of The Joint for six months (since July 2019). Dr. Derek is very good and very popular as a result. My friend says there are days when he has seen over 80 patients. With as much practice that he gets, it's no wonder he is so good! 5 stars all the way for Dr. Derek. The girls that work at the front reception are also very good. They are friendly, helpful and efficient. 5 stars for them as well. There were two visits when I didn't get Dr. Derek. This is where I have to say that not all visitors would rate this location 5 stars. One adjustment was ok, not great. The other visit was simply a complete waste of time. So, be aware that the five star reviews you see should be attributed to visits w Dr. D. I would give only 2 stars and would cancel my membership if it weren't for him. When he is not there, i simply change my plans and go back on a different day. The #1 reason I joined the Joint when I already have 4 other good chiropractors I can visit is because you can walk in without an appointment. This is a huge benefit/feature for me. Another benefit is affordability. The monthly rate is very reasonable. I currently teach tennis every day. It is what I love to do. I just tried calling to see if Dr. Ray was in to adjust my infant daughter and she rudely told me she did not know the schedule and was very blunt and seemed annoyed by my questions. I am grateful for the various Joint locations I have visited over the years as I have moved around California and want to ensure that I acknowledge this specific location and it's chiropractors for their greatness. Specifically, I would like to thank Dr. Derek who I saw during my first pregnancy for weekly adjustments as my pregnancy progressed, and during my current pregnancy, also for weekly adjustments, Dr. Joe. I do believe adjustments contributed to an "easy" non medicated labor with my first and hope the same with my second delivery. As a pregnant mom and throughout my journey I have personally benefited from these weekly adjustments and the attention to care from the Chiropractors at The Joint and believe in the importance of adjustments as our bodies are ever changing, even post partum with nursing and carrying a toddler. The front desk is always so friendly and the office is always clean, there is no wonder why they have so many clients. Last year my back was a mess. I didn't know it was a mess though until I took a business trip and was carrying around a desktop replacement sized laptop (~15 lbs) in my backpack and walking around a different city. I got back to the hotel and my I could barely stand on my feet due to the pain. Once I got back into town, at the recommendation of a friend, I came to this location in CMR. My first visit was with Dr V and she found the issue with my lower back and once I was realigned, it was a night and day difference. I was able to move and not be in excruciating pain. Since then I've been going back 2-3 times a month, if not more, to continue being adjusted. Everyone else (Joe, Ray, Vaness --hope I spelled that right) that I've seen since has been friendly and helpful in my journey to be pain free. read more

I've been visiting this Joint Chiropractor for close to a year now and Dr. Ray is percent consistent in the care he gives. He listens to my needs, puts in the extra time (if needed) and sends me off my way with a smile. I honestly didn't know what a good adjustment was (after seeing another chiro for a year) until I started seeing Dr. Ray. He has made me a believer of chiropractic care and I highly recommend seeing Dr. Ray at the Joint in Carmel Mountain. They are really good about following COVID-19 protocols and cleaning/sanitizing in between each patient. I haven't had a problem with this and have felt safe at every visit. I had a great experience today and I wanted to post this. I was happily greeted when I came in by the wellness coordinator (Venus). They were working through a new system but she was very efficient in checking me in. She is always bright and cheerful. This location has alot of foot traffic so expect a wait...but it is worth it. While waiting, it's always interesting to see the people coming and going. If the line is long, do some shopping, get gas, snack. It worth it. Any of the doctors are great. I've seen Dr. Derek and Dr Joe a bunch of times. Each are amazing. They take their time and understand what your issues are. Other locations have 'no wait'... wonder why? Hmmm. read more

The chiropractors for the most part are excellent. I've been coming here on and off for over a year. My three-star rating is because of the wait time. It is not uncommon to have to wait 20-35 minutes or longer. They don't seem to consistently have three chiropractors working at once. Several times, I drove out here and left because of the wait times which is very annoying. Only six chairs in the waiting area which is it enough. Place is clean but being greeted by loud heavy metal music playing in the lobby adds to the annoyance. read more

I was visiting San Diego today to see family, my sister and I dropped by the Carmel Mountain clinic to get adjusted. The staff and both doctors were very friendly and welcoming when we arrived. The clinic was very clean and they were keeping up with COVID-19 protocols. My adjustment with Dr. Ray was excellent and on point. I definitely was having immediate relief and was feeling more relaxed afterwards. My sister had a great adjustment with Dr. Coppolino and her experience was stellar as well. I get it if the doctors have patients and I won't be able to get seen, but the guy seriously didn't have to be rude about it, or give me attitude.
