One of the best buffet places I have been in Indiana. Cheap and lots of options. Their coconut shrimps are one my favorites to eat here. Not only they have Chinese food they also have a salad bar, a lot of sushi options and more! They have a cook to order Beef noodle/Shrimp Udon soup, Crepe station, and a hibachi kind of station. They also have plenty of dessert options. It's worth driving 25 mins to come here for me. Not only they have good food they also have a lot of staff that are very attentive. They were once known for the amazing seafood selection and quality of food as well. They stated they carry crab legs went to go for dinner said due to shortage They didn't have any They would give us a cheaper price still high for lack of quality. Staff seem to rush you when speaking as well. I was told to follow up or call to see when they would have crab legs as well I called them and they said we don't carry them at all any more bye and hung up mid sentence didn't ask if I wanted reservation or any thing so out family dinners will be elsewhere. The website pivots on crab legs, sushi, seafood yet the dinner layout was shallow with long periods of foods being empty and not available. There's so much to like about The Journey. The variety and quality of food are both awesome. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, the eclairs were outstanding, the sushi was good for the price. The spicy chicken lived up to its billing, and was really tasty. The duck was a nice touch. The staff is mostly if not entirely from China, as the Chinese food selections attest. Went there for our 24th wedding anniversary and the lady seating us was incredibly rude. She got mad because we did not want to sit in the isle. It was our anniversary and I just asked for a booth, she grabbed the silverware out of my hand. The menu online is not accurate and the food was lukewarm at best. The bathrooms are disgusting! My husband said the men's room was not any better. This place used to be great, sadly there is obviously no upkeep going on. For the price this is the best value buffet you can go to. They offer excellent ribs, crab, seafood, and sushi. There is a wonderful salad bar and the food options are all high quality. The service was excellent the server got us drinks, and utensils we needed for the crab before we ever had to ask and took care of us wonderfully. Although the interior is rather dated the ambience is still great and a great place for date night or just a wonderful time with friends. I have been to this restaurant since it opened 12 years ago, last Saturday will be our last time, very disappointed with the management services. My family and I arrived at restaurant around 3:40pm, when checked in, the lady boss showed us our table. She didn't tell us the restaurant will be closed in 45 mins for cleaning before the next shift. So we started our meal, less then 30 mins, the boss lady told my wife they will be closing for cleaning and we need to hurry. My wife told the Boss lady that we just came in, the Boss Lady replied saying we have been in the restaurant over 1 1/2 hours. That was a lie, luckily the waiter who served our table heard it and told the boss lady that we just came in not long ago. How could the boss lady didn't know that she was the one who showed us our table. The boss lady just wanted us to leave quick so she could get our money and serve our table for the next customers. Very rude and dishonest boss lady. No f..king way that we pay to rush our meal. So my family and I went to pick up some foods to our table before they change shift. After few mins, the boss lady came and spoke softly to me telling me could I pay first because she does not want to figure our bill as dinner price. So I gave her my credit card and paid incl. tips and continue our meal. After maybe less then 10 mins, the boss lady came again and told us they need to clean the table before the next shift and we have to leave. I tried to be reasonable, told the boss lady, could you give us take away box so we could finish our meal at home. The boss lady said no because of whatever her f...king business rule. So I told her she should have told us that they will be closing in 45 mins when we checked in. She knew that if she told us that, we would have gone to another restaurant. All her mind is just wanting to suck our money. Other waitress came to try to talk us out for nonsense telling most their customer finish eating in 45 mins. That was a bullshit. How could anyone dining in in 45 mins. Is it a subway or a fast food restaurant. They are just workers so I don't really care what's coming out from their mouths. Finally the boss lady told the waiter to give us take away box. I checked online found their business hours supposed to close between 3pm to 5pm. Means the boss lady shouldn't have checked us in at 3:40pm. Why wouldn't her, because she wanted our money. The wonder many food trays were emptied - No steak, no BBQ, many cakes gone, no oyster veges, no pork stew, etc... and yet we are paying full price each person. An dishonest restaurant business, I will not recommended anyone to this restaurant. Don't ever go to this restaurant. Food were not as good anymore compared to when it opened 12 years ago, food are cold, no more crab legs, noodle soup has no vege in the soup, fruit are not fresh, ice cream gone quick in the fridge, bad services & expensive for what you pay. There is another restaurant nearby only 5 mins drive I will recommend to "Umi Sushi and Lounge". This restaurant don't ask you to leave during shift changing. I was excited when my office had moved closer to 96th St because that meant I was closer to The Journey! I hadn't been here since 2010 and my first visit since didn't disappoint. Food taste good and variety is excellent. However, second visit turned south pretty quick when I went to use my "new" napkin at the table and there was food in it! I said something to the hostess and she apologized for it but she also shushed me. Someone then approached me and said no charge multiple times. But at the end of the meal I was charged full price. They no longer serve crab legs which is the main reason we went. I should have looked at reviews and I would have seen that was the case, but it was still disappointing nonetheless. While we were there both the ice cream machine and the chocolate fountain were down. We tried to keep an open mind and try a variety of food and we were honestly not impressed with any of it. The sushi also seemed more room temperature than cold which is unsettling. I recently had hip surgery and am still on crutches and we were seated in a completely broken down booth. It was both ripped and the springs inside were broken causing it to make loud popping sounds anytime I sat down or got up which also made it extremely uncomfortable. I'm soooo torn about this place. I'm split on the important stuff because bottomline the food quantity/quality is great but the employees/staff suck. My kids beg to eat here all the time and I do love the food... you just can't go wrong with the selection amount they provide and it always does truly taste great. But every single time I go here, I just hate the environment and leave swearing I'll never come back. They treat you like cattle when they're busy, trying to herd you in and out... I've had my table cleaned off as if they're ready to seat someone else. I've had waitresses threaten to charge me for wasting food when my son wasn't even finished yet and had just gone to get more sauce. They don't refill your drink unless you ask. They try to charge me adult prices if I don't pay attention and then look at me like I'm lying when I give them their ages, then huff and puff when checking you out. They haven't changed their ways in the three or four years we've been going... in fact, they're more rude nowadays. It seems it's not hurting business so they could care less. And that's unfortunately true, because they're always busy and the food is good. First time at this restaurant. I was amazed that I found an all you can eat buffet with Chinese, American, and Japanese food all at one massive buffet. There is a large fresh salad bar, sushi bar, and dessert bar as well. The best buffet all you can eat I have ever experienced anywhere in my travels around the USA. Things did start off rough as I entered the impressive entrance to be "greeted" by a person with a noticeable frown. She had no personality and did not make me feel welcome. Had I not went to take a look at the food area first, I doubt I would have stayed. My server was very attentive with a smile offering me drink refills numerous times. They were quick to remove plates when I went for another round of food. When I got back to my table the dirty dish was always gone. I will definitely return for lunch. The senior citizen price is just $12.60 plus drink and tax at lunch. Only a couple dollars more than much less desirable Chinese only buffets in the Fishers area. read more

Stopped in here for lunch today (14Dec2021) and the place was maybe one third full. The service was very good and attentive. Water and drinks were refilled even before asking. Plates were cleared away when you finished your food, and not when you come back with your second plate. Now the quality of the food was a different story. Asian foods tasted ok, but was on the greasy side. Rice noodles had no flavor, and other noodle dishes did not look appetizing. Roast duck was passable. Sushi rolls and nigri was a little on the dry side, so I don't think they were made fresh this morning. Quantity was king! You can have your fill of mediocre food until your stomach bursts. Crab cakes were mushy and tasted nothing of any seafood at all; not even fake crab. Salad greens were brown and I had to pick through them. Fried scallops were not real scallops. Fried skate or stingray. Sushi isn't cold. VERY ALARMING. Kids in the chocolate fountain without supervision taking bites of food and going back in for more chocolate. "Smoked sausage" was decent. It was just kielbasa under a heat lamp. BBQ ribs were dry. Prime rib looked just as dry as everything else. Crab rangoon was passable but mostly just a fried piece of dough. Mushrooms and steak were good. Chicken on a stick was okay (but steamed) Desserts were mostly good. When i first went here years ago, this was the place to go with my friends $9 for lunch on weekdays/$12 weekends, ~$20 for dinner because you get fancier sushi, crab, and prime rib added to the already large buffet line. Drinks are not included in pricing. Sadly the wow factor has faded over time and I'll go only when people want to go now. I also feel the quality of the sushi has also dropped. Food is sometimes inconsistent. My prime rib was so good this time but last time just ok. They're closed mid-day and reopen for dinner later. You can make rsvp for large parties days in advance for a 2 hour period. The venue is quite roomy with a large private room, another semi private room, and then the general seating area. Service is polite but nothing extraordinary. Mostly a Chinese buffet with some American food, and Japanese food. There's even pho, a crepe station, and a chocolate fountain. Ok salad bar. Not really vegetarian friendly, especially at the dinner price. I do wish they had more healthy hot veggie dishes. Overall you should leave stuffed and mostly satisfied. read more

I thought I had a review on here already for The Journey; buuuut I guess not so here goes. So it's been over a year since I've been and for some reason I just had a craving to go. Had an opportunity to go today and was underwhelmed. First, i want to say, that I absolutely love the selection of food but everything was lacking flavor. When we came a couple years ago, it was great and worth the $19.99/pp charge, but this time, I'm so glad I came during lunch which is only like $8.79-$8.99/adult (children are less depending on age). Which right there boggles my mind. That's quite the jump price wise. Lunch: 8.99 Dinner: 19.99; or is it just me?!? Anyway, there was a busy crowd out, but it didn't feel crowded. The layout of the restaurant helps keep traffic moving (which I appreciate with 3 children along for the trip). Overall, I like the location, food wasn't great. The children enjoyed it so I'd come back for them at lunch. I'm sorry I would NOT dare pay the dinner price. Or maybe I'd come to see if they step it up for dinner. read more
