I thought I had a review on here already for The Journey; buuuut I guess not so here goes. So it's been over a year since I've been and for some reason I just had a craving to go. Had an opportunity to go today and was underwhelmed. First, i want to say, that I absolutely love the selection of food but everything was lacking flavor. When we came a couple years ago, it was great and worth the $19.99/pp charge, but this time, I'm so glad I came during lunch which is only like $8.79-$8.99/adult (children are less depending on age). Which right there boggles my mind. That's quite the jump price wise. Lunch: 8.99 Dinner: 19.99; or is it just me?!? Anyway, there was a busy crowd out, but it didn't feel crowded. The layout of the restaurant helps keep traffic moving (which I appreciate with 3 children along for the trip). Overall, I like the location, food wasn't great. Took my grandmother and family here for Mother's Day. The food was ok, but just something seemed off to two of my cousins, so they stopped eating. I ate until I was full (still just one plate). My grandmother thought it was ok, didn't really like the deserts. But the thing that threw everyone off was the two roaches that crawled across the table while we were sitting there. I know it's hard to control pests, but that was pretty sickening. Needless to say we got up immediately, told the server and paid our bill and dipped. We won't be returning. So do with this information as you will. Food was decent, just have to share with the roaches lol And no one from the staff even apologized about the infestation. I've been here a couple of times, and it's pretty good, but nothing is completely "great" in my opinion. Still, I give it 4 stars because it's clean, there's a good variety, and they replenish most things plenty often. There is never enough crab legs, but I think that's because of the insensitive slobs that wait around, then are first in line to take HUGE plates full and the rest of us patient people get stuck with the scraps. Still, the scraps are crab legs and still taste great with melted butter. There is such a big variety so it seems like everybody would be able to find something tasty to eat: normal Chinese offerings, skewers of grilled chicken, skewers of grilled shrimp, grilled salmon, roast beef, pork dumplings, crab rangoon, and more... salad, soups, etc. The chocolate fountain is fun and has fresh strawberries, banana, marshmallows, and cookies for you to just get all sloppy and cover up with dripping milk chocolate. Some of the colder foods are not very fresh, but overall this buffet manages a wide range of cuisines without sacrificing much quality on them. The fruit buffet has exotic fruits and the sushi has a wider selection than just Philly rolls like some places. The real star of the show here is their BBQ, which is hot and fresh. If you love seafood then I highly recommend The Journey. I don't remember if we have ever come for lunch on Sunday after church or not, but when we got our checks, (there was a small party of us with individual checks) we couldn't believe how reasonable it was. Of course we were all seniors and drank water, but it was just a little over $12.00 per person. The buffet has sushi, sashimi, a large salad bar, steak, ribs, a variety of shrimp dishes, some noodle and rice dishes, spring rolls, so many things too numerous to mention. There are puddings, cakes, ice cream, fruits and a large chocolate fountain. You have to wear a mask and a clean glove on the hand that you use to get your food with. The pans were kept full and fresh for the very large lunch crowd. We all recommend this wonderful seafood restaurant. read more

I like the place mostly and have little to complain about really BUT, for such a large place they could do a little better. We stopped for dinner this week and the food was good and it looked clean inside but outside is a mess and should be fixed up just a little. The pond is dirty and has trash in it, The deck is well used and looks like it. Im sure a powerwash and maybe a few new trim boards would help alot. The exterior is their front we all see. The doors are very heavy even for a man and maybe they could have some type door closure assistance to help get in? I may sound mad but Im not, but a place can be seen as undesirable over a couple small things. One more issue while dinning. Rude lady at the front door. Walked in at 8:45pm and she took her sweet time to come greet me. She asked me how many, i told her 3. She walks back behind the counter and finish doing what she is doing. She comes back and asked will you be done by 930 because we close at 9pm but i will give you 30 minutes to eat. I replied but the door and on yelp it says you close at 930pm. It doesn't say you close at 9pm. She said yes it does. I looked at the door and no where on the door does it says they close at 9pm. She then stated you need to be done at 930pm. I declined spending my money at this establishment. This is the second time they have been rude to me and rushing me to get out no matter the time. Very slow to refill sushi platters. We were there for over 30 minutes and no refills on many of them. The rest of the food was absolutely disgusting, and cold. The chocolate fountain is down to a bowl bc it probably broke and they didn't replace it. It's basically chocolate syrup in the bottom of the fountain bowl. Really enjoyed coming here and had visited multiple times with a pleasant experience each time. Unfortunately this evening I went with a group of 4, one of my friends who was just tagging along because she didn't feel well and was unsure if she was going to eat or not. As we sat down and got our drinks, she decided that she didn't want to try eating as she didn't have an appetite. About halfway through our dinner, she decided to leave with the only thing she had, being her Diet Pepsi. When the bill came, the waitress asked about checks and I said they would be separate but the extra drink could go on my bill. She said what about her food? To which I explained that she didn't have any as she wasn't feeling well. Our waitress then went and got the manager who made no sense whatsoever stating over and over again "Some people eat more food and some people eat less". I said, yes, I understand how buffets work, but my friend did not go up and get a plate at all. She said well then you should have told us that when you came in so we didn't charge it. I asked her how we as a customer would know to immediately say that when we walked in. She then stated well we will only charge the kids price then. My husband & I went there for lunch on Friday, Dec. 30th about 1:30. Even at that late lunch time, we had to wait about 20 minutes to get seated, the place was packed!! For starters, the waitress was good in that as soon as we sat down, she was over to take our drink orders. I really hate to leave bad reviews, but I recently went to The Journey for a bday gathering. We were in a small and congested room with a large table (in the middle of The Covid season). People were packed in the lobby. The food wasn't good. It just wasn't. I'd rather spend my $22-$23 bucks at a restaurant that serves decent food. The crab Rangoon was just awful. The sushi is a joke. We had to wait about 10 minutes for a seat so my expectations for good food were high. After finally getting seated, we explored the bar. It was a lot of random food thrown together as most buffers are. They did have a good selection of sushi! However, the rest of their food tasted kind of bland and reminded me of a Golden Corral. As far as buffets go, The Journey is tops in my mind (this side of Bellagio, anyway) because they manage to keep a LARGE selection of foods hot and fresh. This is the ultimate challenge for these places, like the Unified Theory of Buffets. As for the complaints about the restaurant, let me give you my take because I've been going there for years; 1) High price - Yes, The Journey is more expensive than McDonald's. The people who think this is a negative are the same gluttons hoarding 6 plates of crab legs and throwing away half of the meat because they either lack the will or the skill to properly consume the delicacy. 2) Dirty restrooms - The bathroom is typically very clean but I have seen it in less than stellar shape. The two times I have seen the men's room in disarray, it was during a weekend rush and the only "dirty" thing was paper towels on the floor or sink area. I am certain these were not put there by employees but likely by those above-mentioned glutons trying to soak the drawn butter out of their leopard-print tights. If your family has trouble agreeing on dinner (or if you're in the mood to eat until it hurts for a moderate price), I would recommend giving this place a try. The food here is really good! The service is terrible! We were told a 25 minute wait. That was a lie. People who arrived way after us were given a table yet our party of 3 had to wait more than a 45 minutes for a table. They will only seat certain size parties at certain tables. While the food is good the service at the front end is the worst I have ever seen. For the what you have to pay it isn't worth it by a long shot. Definitely do not recommend this place. read more

If I would have reviewed this place several years ago I would have given it 5 stars. It has really gone downhill over the last two years. The food used to be really good and the crab legs were delicious. There was always a long line for the crab legs, which was annoying and caused a huge backup, but they were really good. During the pandemic the staff would serve what you picked and then hand you the plate. They also started limiting the crab legs to 2 hands per person, which did help with the backup problem. However, the food taste and quality has really gotten bad. The crab legs were very bland and almost oily tasting. We decided after our last visit that we would no longer come here. Not worth the price and the drive to come. Since our last visit they have completely done away with the crab legs and from the sounds of others' experiences the food has gotten even worse. The older lady at the front has always been unfriendly, so that's nothing new, but if the quality doesn't improve, I don't see it becoming one of the best Chinese buffets in town again. read more
