Truly one of my favorite food finds in San Diego! I discovered The Kebob Shop on our last trip & I immediately became hooked. I loved it so much that I went back TWICE during the same week AND before flying home, I bought two döners to take on the plane with us! Fast forward to this trip: we landed in San Diego, dropped off our luggage at the hotel & headed straight to The Kebob Shop before doing literally anything else. That is how obsessed I am with their wraps!!! Everything is ridiculously fresh, flavorful & satisfying. The döner is customizable, perfectly seasoned, savory & packed with flavor. The sauces are addictive - my favorite is the OG (original garlic) & hubby's is the cilantro-jalapeno (which has a good amount of heat). If The Kebob Shop existed near me, I would be there at least once a week. San Diego has a lot of amazing food but this place has officially become part of our travel tradition! I haven't tried the Kebab Shop in years (especially this original location). We came about an hour and a half before they closed. The front person was not very welcoming and lacked patience since it took me a little time to digest their latest menu. I ended up ordering the chicken plate. The whole plate looked and tasted stale. FAST CASUAL MEDITERRANEAN THAT IS GOOD! I was in San Diego and after my workout in little Italy I asked a few locals where I should go that is somewhat heathy, they all said I should go to this place. I love a good middle eastern/Mediterranean spot! So I went and I wasn't disappointed. The Kebab Shop is a small fast casual place that does middle eastern type of food, they have a lot of wraps and gyro type of things on their menu but the also have plates that come with a salad, rice, a protein, and a pita. That's what I decided to get, but I will say the wraps looked amazing. I ordered the Mediterranean plate. It came with a Greek salad, saffron rice, 1 protein and a half of pita. For the proteins I decided I wanted the beef/lamb mix, the stuff that you see in gyros a lot, and I added a extra kofta for $6. Maybe a little steep but it was made fresh and was good. The restaurant also had a bar full of their sauces so you could add what you wanted to your meal to make it perfect! The meat was hot and well seasoned and juicy, especially the kofta. I would probably just get two pieces of this next time. The Lamb beef mix was good but nothing amazing. The salad was awesome with feta cheese on it and cucumbers and a great Greek dressing. The rice was well seasoned and had great saffron flavor. The bad? Well the amount of rice they gave you was surprising. There was so much rice. So much, and the amount of pita they gave you. You got half of a pita but really a need a full pita. Overall I would come and eat here again. It was a little expensive but I did get a lot of food. Overall it's a win!! read more

I would always get it before heading to a picnic in Balboa. Their wings are also fire the service is always top tier, I usually order ahead of time and wait is usually 20 minutes. Had to stay in San Diego at daughter's apartment and got hungry at noon. I saw the kebab shop down the street and remembered grabbing some food there years ago when she moved in. Ordered on line and went to pick it up. Got the chicken shawarma plate with rice and grilled veggies and added a grilled beef kebab. Side of falafel and extra pita and flat bread. Picked it up and brought it home. Shared it with my daughter. Plenty of food and we had leftovers. The chicken shawarma was tender and moist, the steak was delicious. Hands down the best falafel I've had. Maybe tied with Barbonzai in Lake Forest. Got the OG Yoghurt and the Dill Yoghurt sauces. The cilantro-jalapeño had a good kick. Great food read more

Have been here twice in the past week including today. Had their Protein Bowl which has 45g of protein which you get the option of carved chicken, chicken shawarma, and other (you can choose). I like that they don't charge you for extra hummus - this time I got 3 scoops of hummus (regular, fire, and jalapeño) however I found it to be too much (I got full). Although this is more on the pricier side compared to my regular go-to lunch meal from Under Belly, I consider it a bit healthier because I care more for fiber and protein. Perhaps I will play around with other plates but in the meantime, the Protein Bowl is my go-to meal. Let's just say that my eyes were bigger than my stomach. I went in late night after a long flight and night on my first day in SD. Thankfully they're open till 10pm, so I was able to put in my order before they closed. Their menu prices average to around $13, and with their portion sizes that's a really good deal. I ordered the greeky bowl with falafel and crave fries. I definitely didn't finish either, but both were so flavorful and filling! Staff was welcoming and warm despite me coming in an hour before closing. They're known for their sauces like the OG yogurt and their new chili fire sauce. Definitely check them out! read more

My sides included a fresh Greek salad & and an unusually large scoop of original hummus. A warm pita completes this meal and let me tell you, I wasn't able to wipe this plate clean. This could easily feed two people. - Fountain Drink (Lemonade and Sprite) | When I can mix these two together, I do. It's one of those nostalgic things I did as a crazy child.
