I love Cava! The food is super tasty and customizable. You can eat healthy here too! I get the salad bowl with lots of veggies. Which are seasoned well and taste great. The crazy feta spread is spicy and rich and yummy. All the hummus flavors are good versions of hummus. The staff here is the nicest we've encountered at a Cava. Very friendly and helpful. The location is not huge so not a lot of tables but there are some outside. I will continue to come to this Cava every time I'm in SD and want a healthy lunch. read more

I usually visit the CAVA in Mission Valley, but I've stopped by this location a few times over the years. Unfortunately, I was reminded why I don't come here often. The restaurant was clearly understaffed. It took about seven minutes before anyone even acknowledged us. The cashier was also responsible for preparing the food on the assembly line, which wasn't her fault at all, she was doing the best she could under the circumstances. She had to prepare each order one at a time before ringing up the customer, while a line of people continued to grow behind me. Had I not skipped breakfast, I probably would have left. To make matters worse, I ordered the grilled salmon bowl, and the salmon didn't taste fresh. It was very disappointing. I normally order the chicken or lamb meatballs, which I've always enjoyed, so this experience fell well below my expectations. My friend and I were looking for some healthy options. After a quick Yelp search, we found Cava. Turns out it is a chain so we were skeptical but decided to give it a shot. As soon as we entered the restaurant, we were impressed by the ambiance. It was clean and welcoming. They had an interesting menu - either one would build a bowl of their choice, or a wrap or choose one of the pre configured bowls/wraps. Both of us decided to build our own bowls. For my veggie bowl, I got the rice and lentil mix, some greens, half falafel/veggies, cucumbers, olives, corn and harissa hummus. I was also able to add some tzatziki to my bowl. Overall, all the ingredients looked fresh and I love that most of the options were healthy. My friend also liked her bowl. The food itself was packed with flavor and tasted great. I've been wanting to try CAVA for the longest time and recently got the chance to try it out when I was on vacation in SoCal. My partner and I showed up on a very busy Friday night but the wait wasn't too long as the employees were getting through the line quickly. Ms Lawanda was a gem! She was super nice and very helpful. Finally had the chance to try Cava for the first time while traveling in San Diego! My friends have hyped up this establishment and it did not disappoint. It was a long line but it went by quickly. This was my first time going here and I was absolutely blown away. The downtown location gets pretty busy but their staff does a great job at pushing the line through. I got the roasted eggplant, hummus, and red pepper hummus as my dip, along with Persian cucumber, salt-brined pickles, pickled onions, and some lemon herb tahini as my dressing. My boyfriend and I split the cucumber lime mint beverage together, it's the best fountain drink IMO. I've ordered from this location *a lot* and I don't think I've ever received a well made order. My girlfriend and I very frequently order from doordash from this location and the only time I've gotten a good order is when it did not come from this location. We've made I'd guess around 10 orders. I've received insanely undersized portions, pita chips that were soft and wet from oil, ingredients I did not order in my bowl, as well as incorrectly made and underfilled sauces. Just really frustrating because I love Cava. If you can make the trip I'd recommend hitting up the mission valley location. read more

Very chipotle-like in how one is served, which I didn't mind other than I felt very rushed during each step by the other customers. It was my first time here and there was a lot of different things to read. I ended up just getting a bunch of recommendations from the employee who was helping me. By the end, I ended up with Spinach and Black Lentils for the base, Roasted Eggplant Dip, Crazy Feta, and Harissa for the dips/spreads, Harissa Honey Chicken for protein, topped with Fiery Broccoli, Avocado, Persian Cucumber, Shredded Romaine, and Crumpled Feta. For my dressing, I got their Lemon Herb Tahini and Schug on the side. I also got their Red Pepper Hummus with Garlic Pita Chips on the side. Not going to go into every detail, but I will say I felt really good while I was eating this! Everything was really healthy and fresh. However, I didn't like the tahini or the eggplant dip whatsoever. The eggplant dip actually tasted like it had been prechewed and I had to spit it out. I liked the hummus, but it didn't have a strong red pepper flavor to me. What really made it good was the garlic pita chips. They were crazy crunchy and flavorful! Loved them. I think I would honestly get close to the same thing as this time. While it was on the healthy side for me, I can see how this can become very unhealthy pretty quickly with all the add-ons you get.
