It's been a long week and I needed some comfort food. I was in the South Bay this weekend and…read moredecided to look for a place to get a good gyro. I dropped by on a Saturday afternoon, where a few other patrons were already dining. The seating has around 6 or so tables inside that can fit around 4 each, and they also have high chairs for children! I ordered a number 17, which is the gyro, and got a side of hummus and pita then found a table to sit at. I had just finished buckling my child into the high chair when my order was delivered to my table! They are super fast here! The super friendly waiter delivered my meal, and I dug in. The gyro was stuffed with meat! This is a huge deal, since a lot of places skimp and don't give enough. So extra points to Al Hamra for a job well done. The flavor of the meat was juicy and well seasoned, super delish! The hummus and pita was good, although I usually add a bit of spices to my hummus so this one was a little plainer than I'm used to. Either way, it was a nice addition to the meal. The grand finale were the desserts! I usually go for baklava, but decided to try the knafeh, a layered cheese dessert with syrup and pistachios. Get the knafeh! The warm cheese and syrup were so delicious and made for the perfect ending to a good meal! I will definitely be back, the food was super tasty, and the people working there were friendly and helpful. Thanks for the happiness, Al Hamra!

Our friend, who's been coming here for years, highly recommended Al Hamra and we weren't…read moredisappointed! The food was full of flavor, and the portions were generous. Our group of four adults and two kids came in starving. I had the chicken kabob wrap, which was a perfect burrito-sized meal, while my husband enjoyed a beef and chicken kabob plate that fully satisfied his appetite. Honestly, the highlight for me was the warm pita served with garlic mayo, so much better than the cold or room-temperature pitas you often get at otherMediterranean spots. We also shared dessert, the kulfi cheesecake, and left completely stuffed. Al Hamra is a cozy family-run restaurant with just a few tables, but the food makes it well worth it. I'll definitely rotate between this spot and Chicken Maison for future visits.

I love any and all types of middle Eastern food. This is a place I had my eye on for a while and I…read morefinally got around to trying it. I am just upset at myself for not coming sooner. The lady helping me was very friendly and recommended the koobideh and said it would be taste better if I ate it there. I was going to take it to go, but I trusted her and I am very happy I did. The chicken and beef koobideh were DELICIOUS. So juicy, so flavorful, good portion and plenty of flavorful rice! I will absolutely be coming here again in the future. I will be telling everyone I know how good the food is here. I hope they get more business because that was absolutely the best koobideh in the south bay and I would hate to see this place close in the future :(

I ordered the barg kabob ($32 after tax), and the meat was old and had an unpleasant smell. It seemed like it had been grilled hours earlier and then reheated. It tasted nothing like authentic Persian barg. The meat even had a sour flavor due to too much lemon juice in the marinate. It didn't seem to be made from filet mignon. Instead, it tasted like too much yogurt had been used in the marinade to make the meat tender. It was very disappointing. I won't be wasting my money there again. There are much better options around in Southbay!

I really wanted to like this place, but it just didn't live up to my expectations. I ordered the…read morechicken and beef kabob, and my husband got the chicken and beef shawarma plate. Honestly, both dishes looked almost identical. The meat was cut into chunky pieces instead of being sliced. While the portion sizes were generous, the quality of the food just wasn't there. The seasoning was off, and the chicken and beef tasted low quality with lots of tendons. Mediterranean food is a broad category, and while I appreciate variations in flavor, the kabobs here were seasoned much differently from other Mediterranean spots in the area--and not in a good way. Overall, everything tasted off, and we just didn't enjoy it.

Worst ever! Food was over-processed to the point of unrecognisable! I literally had to find and…read morecheck my receipt to remember what I'd ordered! Couldn't see if maybe I'd ordered beaten down chicken - that turned out to be flavorless & bodiless salmon. The unidentifiable swipe in the meal only tasted like tahini in its last seconds before swallowing, the supposed lentil soup, also unidentifiable by look and bland by taste came not in a soup container but in the same thinnest, cheapest plastic I've ever tried to open as both of their other delivery. Same cheap/thin plastic came too with a thin, unidentifiable overprocessed flavorless swirl that I had to call the store to identify it -supposedly - as hummus, when I'd ordered babaghanous! I know what these foods look, feel and taste like and each one of the foods were major disappointments! Do not eat here unless you prefer low quality efforts. And then the delivery costs for their overpriced $37 bill through added costs ended up $55! Outrageous! I'm beyond disappointed, I'm pissed off! I want my money back! Oh yeah I just saw someone else's review mentioned the "sauce" that comes with dinners - it too was unrecognisable! That's supposed to a garlic sauce, but it's so whipped up, and holds so little actual garlic that it might as well be someone form of secret sauce mayo.
