    Chicken Kabob plate
    Ronda S.

The food was decent, nice portion, but freshness not always consistent. On one visit, the chicken was moist and fresh, next visit chicken was dry and hard. Rice was yellow one visit, red the next. The service was ok, but I was concerned about trays of uncovered baklava and cookies left out all over the counters in the open, so I did not order any of those items and makes me concerned about what the kitchen looks like! Not conducive to eating at the restaurant, not very much seating

The plate I ordered with came with just plain cabbage, not the salad that you see in their picture. Rice was salty and meat was not seasoned. Disappointed with my order.

This place was absolute trash. I ordered the salmon plate. It was a small piece of salmon: thin, overcooked, under seasoned, and dry. It was the worst piece of salmon I have ever had. It tasted like it was boiled. Not fresh. My bf got the gyro plate. The meat did not taste fresh. It also tasted like it was previously frozen. It had a little more flavor than the salmon. They were out of samosas. We ordered baklava and it was a prepackaged rendition of what should always be a freshly made dessert. So disappointing! I hate wasting good money on bad food

Flavorful meat, however I do think it's too pricey considering the small portion. I was charged: $15 for Greek Gyro Salad $7.50 for a Chicken Shawarwa Warp ( not a combo) Service was friendly.

    Lamb Mandi

"On July 21, 2024, my family and I eagerly anticipated the Lamb Mandi at this restaurant. However, our excitement quickly turned to dismay. The dish that arrived bore no resemblance to Mandi. The lamb, instead of being succulent and flavorful, tasted like bland, water-boiled meat atop a bed of lackluster yellow rice. It was a culinary disappointment of epic proportions. When I voiced my dissatisfaction to the server, all I told is I can give you cash $25 refund; which I refused to take. But this wasn't about money; it was about integrity. How can a restaurant claim to serve a specific cuisine and then deliver something entirely different? The server called owner and had him speak to me, but owner's dismissive response--insisting that their version was indeed Mandi--only added insult to injury. I suspect this place survives on customers who haven't yet discovered the truth. Save your money and precious time; avoid this establishment at all costs."

Mmmm falafels! Chickpeas deliciousness! Nice and crispy on the outside. Light and airy on the inside. I can taste the Mediterranean flavors of lemon, coriander, or cumin. The inside absorbs that tzatziki sauce well. The hubs always enjoys the gyros from here. We either go with sandwich combos or the plates. The staff on the phone are super nice. I am a regular that does delivery service and I called to ask for more tzatziki sauce and they were generous about it. That stuff is so good. The pitas are ok. So is the hummus. I like the rice and the salad is refreshing. Haven't been inside the restaurant in person. It is located in a busy plaza full of restaurants. Definitely keeping Pita Stop in the rotation for online dwlivery orders.

I just tried the lamb and chicken kabob for the first time! I'm happy there is a new Mediterranean restaurant in Torrance. If your looking for baklava, they make their own baklava with no trans fat and sweetened honey.

Delicious tender and fresh-grilled chicken. Rice was full of interesting spices, and salad was crunchy and light. I live in South Orange County and we just do not have a big variety of Mediterranean places like this. I really enjoy the smaller independently owned shops, and the owners were super nice and explained to me that it's Syrian cuisine. I'll definitely be back when I'm in the area.

The Pita Spot has some of the freshest and most delicious Mediterranean/ Middle eastern food in Torrance. The food is all made from scratch and in house by the lady chef in the back that makes everything to order. The restaurant is not that big and only seats probably less than 10-15 people max. The menu is full of combo's which pretty much is one entrée with a side of fresh in house hummus and side salad with some pita bread. My wife and I usually opt for the kafta combo and the shawarma which are both heavily spiced and packed full of flavor that is accompanied by a bed of rice pilaf that has that amazing light fluffy texture. According to the chef even the tzatziki sauce is made in house by hers truly. The combo's are all fairly priced and if you come for lunch they have a few offerings for lunch specials which is almost half the regular prices. If you are looking for good fast Mediterranean/ middle eastern food the Pita Spot is really good offering. Make sure you check in on yelp for free baklava dessert.

Great place with a nice priced gyro sandwich meal. Gyro wrap , fries and a drink for less than $10. Really worth it. Fast service. Pretty friendly guys. Definitely worth coming back to try out their other dishes.

    Undercooked chicken

I love meditation food and so I went to check this place out. I ordered Chicken kebob, the portion is small for the price. The chicken tasted undercooked and it also tasted like it has been marinating for days, it did not taste fresh and it has a bitter after taste. I am writing this so the management can look into this and also an opportunity for improvement.

I don't see the grill fish on the menu. Do they offer that only at certain times?

They have grill Salmon on the menu in the restaurant. Hope this helps.

Do they have a garlic sauce?

Yes they do! I think they might call it a paste. Very smooth and tasty.

I've never eaten in, but I've picked up food from here twice and have enjoyed their food at my sister's house at least one other time. The first thing I don't understand is how this place is in Torrance rather than Redondo Beach. I don't mean that I don't understand why they chose Torrance over Redondo Beach; I mean that I just don't understand the two cities' boundaries very well, because this feels like straight-up North Redondo to me. The second thing I don't understand is how this place hasn't expanded or multiplied or otherwise won the hearts and minds and stomachs of South Bayers near and far. But maybe it already has. The third thing I don't understand is why I don't come here more often. It's not that far from my sister's house, and I was dog-sitting there earlier this year. . . . I'm fresh out of things I don't understand. What I do understand is that the owners of this place (an Armenian brother and sister?) are amazing. The food is so good and fresh and flavorful. The menu is kind of all over the place, which in most cases is a red flag, but in the case of more than one restaurant owned and operated by Armenians (I'm including my cousin's restaurant before he sold it and retired), the more different items on the menu, the better. Or at least it's not a red flag. I promise. The combo deal is legit, but even without that deal, the prices are good, especially when you consider the food quality. Writing his review now makes me miss King Mediterrano even though I don't normally miss it or think about it. Those days are over. Next time I have calories to collect in the South Bay, I'm headed straight for Redondo Beach Boulevard.

I wanted to follow up my very short review that I wrote about this restaurant over a decade ago as I have continued to frequent this restaurant and I have always enjoyed their food. What they offer here is a really nice selection of Mediterranean-based cuisine. They always use the best ingredients, and the food always arrives with a great presentation. Mostly, the food here tastes very-very good. And, isn't that the right reason you actually go to a restaurant in the first place? This is a family-owned and operated business. From this, you can really tell that everybody who works here really cares about the restaurant and the customers. Thus, it's always a great dining experience. Their menu offers a really nice selection of everything from gyro's to kebabs onto salads and the like. There's a really nice choice of both entrées and side dishes for you to choose from. The one thing I will say about this establishment, and this is certainly not a criticism, but whenever you eat here, they always keep the food coming. Whether it is the pita chips, the pita bread, the whatever, when you leave here you are going to be very-very full. This restaurant is located just off of Hawthorne Boulevard and a block from PCH. Thus, it's very easy to find. In terms of parking they have a parking lot over to one side of the building. You could always find a spot there. They also have a number of spots on the street, in front of the restaurant. This is where I always prefer to park. Easy in, easy out. Overall, if you're looking for some great Mediterranean-based food, this is the place to go. You will not be disappointed.

The menu also features traditional Pakistani, Persian, and Arabic dishes, such as Beef Nihari and Haleem. After several visits, here are my thoughts on some of their grilled meats and desserts. Beef Kofta - 3/5. The kofta was a bit dry and tough. I wish it had more fat and seasoning to make it juicier and more flavorful. The grilling is also somewhat inconsistent--sometimes the kofta comes out beautifully browned, while other times it's over-charred. Grilled Fish - 4/5. This is easily my favorite item on the menu and, in my opinion, their best dish. The fish is seasoned just enough to enhance its natural flavor without overpowering it. It's grilled very well, developing a beautiful golden-brown crust while remaining moist and tender inside. Beef Shish Kebab - 3.5/5. The quality of the beef is decent, especially considering the price. Given the cut of meat they use, they've done a commendable job with the grilling. The beef has a solid seasoning base and a nice sear with just enough char to add flavor without becoming overly smoky. It's reasonably tender, though I wish it retained a bit more juiciness. Chicken Shish Kebab - 3.5/5. Very similar to the beef shish kebab. It has good flavor and is grilled well, but it could benefit from being a little juicier. Gyro - 2/5. Unfortunately, this was the biggest disappointment. The gyro meat on the vertical spit often appears to be rotating without enough heat to properly caramelize and crisp the exterior. As a result, the meat comes across as dry, rubbery, and lacking the rich roasted flavor that makes a great gyro. Kunafa (Knafeh) - 3/5. This dessert has both strengths and weaknesses. The cheese filling has a pleasant, slightly salty flavor and a creamy texture, and I appreciate that it isn't overly sweet. However, the syrup is underwhelming. A good kunafa should be generously coated with a fragrant sugar syrup - ideally infused with rose water or orange blossom water - to provide sweetness and aroma. I also wish the kataifi, the shredded pastry dough, were crispier and lighter to create a better contrast with the gooey cheese filling. Overall, Al Hamra Kabob Grill is one of the better places to enjoy Middle Eastern-style grilled dishes in the South Bay. While a few menu items could be improved, the grilled fish stands out as excellent, and the shish kebabs are solid choices. The owner is also incredibly friendly and welcoming, creating a warm, neighborhood atmosphere that keeps customers coming back. It's not perfect, but it's a restaurant I enjoy visiting from time to time and one I'd recommend if you're craving grilled Middle Eastern flavors.
