Arrived today at the keg steakhouse for a big celebration. Reserved our usual table where we were greeted by Derek which we've had before. He greeted us and said some new additions to the menu then took our drink order. Which gave us time to look over the menu and choose our steak option. My wife and I both had a 10 ounce filet mignon, hers a medium and mine a rare. Unfortunately upon arrival to our table the kitchen staff mixed up our steaks. She got the rare and I got the medium. By half way through we switched steaks so she could enjoy her meal better. Probably a common mistake since it was fairly busy in the restaurant. Food was exceptional for flavor as always and we will have to pop in again for a steak redemption meal. This time, hopefully the steaks come out correctly. read more

So glad to find a restaurant that takes gluten/other allergies and sensitivities seriously !!! I was driving into Edmonton was craving a steak but needed it to be takeout. I mentioned my allergies and sensitivities and the manager was so diligent that she looked up ingredients to make sure I would be okay. I ordered a side of bearnaise sauce which we determined I may have issue with but I still ordered it. A little while later someone called me again to make sure I was aware of the allergen and wanted to confirm I still wanted it. I had to make sure I left a review because I was truly touched by the care and concern the staff at the Keg had for my wellbeing. Also, I ordered at a busy time! I'm so glad that the Keg is taking reservations again. We basically stopped going here because we don't like showing up and having to wait for a table. We came after Valentine's Day to avoid the crowds. And I'm glad we did, even a few days later the restaurant was packed and there were quite a few people waiting for tables. The ambiance was a bit loud for my taste, including the music. Our server was pleasant and friendly and made some recommendations, which I appreciated. I loved my Steak Oscar entree and my husband had the prime rib, also very good. Absolutely no complaints about the food or service. All in all a lovely evening with great food. read more

Recently visited Skyview Keg again at the request of my daughter for her birthday. Made reservations online but ended up needing to call to modify the time as I kept getting error messages online. Upon arrival - with 3 hyper birthday tweens - we were promptly seated in the bar area as th he majority of the restaurant is closed due to the current pandemic. I was really surprised to learn they have a Happy Hour menu! Open - 6pm and 10pm - close. And there are some really good food items on there and drink specials. I decided to try the warm cauliflower salad and prime rib sliders. Both were excellent! Really liked the crispy onions and horseradish on the side for the sliders. I would most definitely order both again and were perfect for a late night supper with leftovers to bring home. The teens had steak and mini burgers, Shirley Temples, and ice cream. The service was excellent as always. The Keg is really making an effort to keep both their staff and customers safe. You'll find that things are a bit different - reservations are required at this time which I love and one server will handle you exclusively. No runners or random helpers - they are purposefully having one server handle your food, beverages, orders, everything from start to finish. Really impressed - Two thumbs up! read more

Me and my good friend Ronald just finished dining at the Keg on 137 Ave, and I must say that my friend's prime rib was outstanding, paired with a fine Malbec. My half rack of glazed pork ribs with sauteed vegetables, paired with a fine Ginger Ale, left me craving for more of this sumptuous fine fare; So my friend Ron finished his extraordinary main course, with a decadent Chocolate cake with almonds, accompanied with a dark roast Coffee. I settled for the Creme Burleigh, and popped the accompanying mint in my mouth to freshen things up. The hubby had the Prime Rib and it was medium rare - came out looking way too rare BUT then we tried it! And it was so tender and melted in your mouth with juicy flavor, I was so surprised! Hubby took me to dinner tonight. We ordered our mains and they brought us complimentary bread and butter. Never once did our server ask if there were any allergies. I am allergic to orange cheddar cheese. We received the bread and butter. I proceeded to butter my bread without a thought as we were hungry because we had been swimming for the afternoon. I ate my bread while we chatted. I grabbed my second piece and began buttering and noticed something orange in the butter now. I asked my hubby if he thought it was cheddar cheese. We called over the manager, she confirmed it was a three cheese butter. It was then we informed her that I was allergic. She asked if our server had asked us about allergies and we told her no. She apologized and went to make sure our meals were free of cheddar. I ended up with a migraine from this during our meal. We are not frequent diners at the keg so we were not aware of the butter. The keg did nothing for us all the while I sat through my meal nauseous and my head getting worse and worse with pain. The food itself was good but extremely disappointed in the service we received. I remember back in the day when The Keg in Strathcona was THE place to eat. The one here on 137th is always busy but I guess we were specially chosen to receive lackluster food this evening. We sat out on the patio which was nice because you could see something. Inside was SO dark but then we had to put up with street traffic noise which can be loud quite often. Two steaks ordered as medium rare - one came rare (very bloody) the other medium only a touch of pink in the centre). The medium was tough and while the rare was not tough it was laced with gristle. Complimented the undercooked green beans perfectly. Cocktails were only average as well. We really didn't get our money's worth on this first in a long time outing to a Keg. Probably will not go back either if they don't know how to serve tender meat or cook steaks at a steak house. Disappointed to say the least and at that price, especially. I do have to say the table server was excellent though but I've had it with sending food back to kitchens if they can't get it right the first time so I never said anything about the quality of the meal. read more

The keg skyview continues to be among our favorites. Although they've moved away from their celebration box (which we loved), they now have a take out menu. We tried the take out and it was reliably keg consistent. We are so very glad about that because we have no plans to dine in for awhile. The salmon was done right. The garlic mashed were buttery smooth. The salad was crisp and fresh. We missed the bread... Maybe they will add that to the take out menu. One can order online. The hostess is outside to take payment, no need to go in at all. The packaging is designed to keep the food hot and fresh. Such a lovely Friday night treat.... read more

I still like the keg but a few things I've noticed after visiting here over time since my last review. They are quite cheap about the veggie portion of the dish. I've been here 3 times over a few months and each time only got 3 green beans and part of a red pepper. I've also noticed that their mashed potatoes don't taste as good as before. They are supposed to be garlic flavoured but each time I've gotten them they've tasted rather plain and came out cold. One of the reasons I loved the keg was for the mashed potatoes alone. I am disappointed to see the quality go downhill. I might check out the other locations and see what they're like. The service is still great and the staff really friendly. read more

GREAT date night with my wife at this Keg location! We went on a Monday night before an Edmonton Oiler game. We didn't have any sort of reservation but were able to be seated right away. We were seated in the dining room in a two person booth. Our server's name was Adrian. He was a very pleasant young man. He introduced himself and asked us if we were celebrating anything and what are plans entailed for the evening. We were in fact celebrating our 7th wedding anniversary and then headed off to the Oiler game after...KIDLESS!! We were brought some delicious warm bread and whipped butter to start with. Our drink order was promptly taken. My wife ordered a Caesar and I had the Granville on tap. My wife really enjoyed her Caesar and my beer went well with dinner. My wife and I ordered the Keg Classic dinners with Caesar salads. My wife went with the top sirloin while I went with the filet Mignon and both sides of the the garlic mashed potatoes. I was a bit more difficult and asked for the blue cheese and garlic topping also. Our salads came out first and were very tasty with the freshly grated Parmesan cheese and a nice amount of garlic in the dressing. Our dinner came out shortly after our salad plates were cleared. Our steaks were cooked right on point and the food was so yummy! The potatoes were creamy and melted in my mouth. The veggies were cooked with just the right amount of crunch. The blue cheese and garlic topping on the filet Mignon was to die for! Our server Adrian knocked it out of the park too! He frequently checked on us, kept our drinks topped up and had great conversation for us. He made our night that much better! Part way though our meal, dining room manager Tracy stopped by to ask us how everything was. We were happy to tell her that her serving staff and kitchen staff was doing an excellent job. Since we were celebrating an anniversary, we were given a slice of Billy Miner pie on the house. This piece of pie is more than enough to feed two people for dessert after a delicious steak dinner. The Billy Miner pie is mocha ice cream on a chocolate crumb base with hot fudge, caramel, and sprinkled with almost slices. Oh so good!! We had a great meal from start to finish with great service from Adrian as well as the delcious food we got to eat. I've always had a great experience at the Keg, and my last visit was no exception. This location of The Keg is close to home, so when we are looking for a good steak dinner, this is where we head. Most of the times I have been to this location, I have been mildly impressed, but this time seemed to be better than previous times. We came here at about 8 pm on a Saturday night and it was packed. I mean, both the dining room side and the lounge side didn't have an empty table in sight. We put our name on the 70 minute waitlist for a table, and decided to wait. While we were waiting, we decided to see if any table in the lounge opened up. When the manager saw us, he told us that there were a couple tables ahead of us, but would find us a table as soon as he could. Ten minutes later, we were seated! Definite brownie points to the manager on the lounge side that might! Our waitress was very pleasant, and even laughed along with our jokes. We ordered our drinks and food, and were good to go. Our appies came super quickly considering how busy they were, and there wasn't a single complaint around the table. Just as we finished up with these, our meals arrived. Everyone dug in and I think we all agreed everything on the table was delicious. I will definitely be returning to this location, and hope to see some of the staff who was super friendly and helpful on the night we were there! read more

This is my usual Keg. I go here with several different friend/family groups. Was here recently with a reservation for 5 in the restaurant. The table didn't seem suited for a party of 5. This keg is always busy, I can't think of a time I went and it wasn't busy. Drinks took awhile, as did the service overall. Several of my party had steaks, Chicago medium, all were a little over but not over enough to send back. The prime rib seemed very good. The fish was good.. We had out of town friends from Kamloops where they no longer have a keg so they were pretty delighted to be be there. I just have these high expectations when it comes to the keg - given what you pay. So no major complaints but Not in keeping with what I have become accustomed to as the usual high standards of the Skyview keg. I'll be back though, my high standards for this keg have been met more often than not. read more

I was impressed with how the staff handled our situation. We made reservations for 9 people at 6:30pm for my Mother's birthday. When we arrived the one table that can accommodate a group our size was still in use by the previous reservation group. In fact they were having such a good time they stayed for another hour. The staff came out to offer us drinks, other seating options and let us know they hadn't forgotten about us. We were seated at 7:30pm and on the table were fruit and vegetable snacks for the kids. I asked if they had a vegan menu and they didn't. So I said no problem I'll just order a couple plain baked potatoes. One of the managers and chef came out and asked me what I can and like to eat. She offered me an amazing grilled portobello, red pepper and red onion sandwich on a chibatta bun and baked potato with chives. It was amazing. No oil and seasoned lightly. As for the rest of the family the two wait staff were excellent. They communicated with us on all the progress, knew how to make small talk and interact with the kids. The manager checked on us a couple times. Everyone was stuffed and also felt taken care of. A group our size is a lot of work for kitchen and wait staff to organize right. Hence why gratuity is usually mandatory. However, they divided our bills up, didn't charge us for the gratuity, kids food and dessert or any of the beverages even the alcohol. I want to personally thank the whole team in front and behind the scenes for everything. We all ended up tipping a large amount and I hope they know we understand and appreciate all they did for us. read more

The Keg is always a nice treat to go to despite it being a big (Canadian) chain restaurant! I find that their meals and service always top notch and consistent! I came here on a Friday right at opening (4pm) with the hubs and our baby. This is what happens when you have a newborn - you go for early dinners so you can get home early to keep your baby on their evening sleep routine. Hahaha To start, they always bring a small loaf of their sourdough bread, perfectly warm, crusty and served with a generous portion of whipped butter to spread. Yum! I always get their Caesar salad as a starter because it's always fresh and perfectly coated with dressing and parmesan shards. For mains, I ordered the day's entree special which was braised beef served with a demi glaze, mashed potatoes, asparagus, mushrooms (which I don't like so I got them on the side for the hubs), and topped with frizzed onions. The meal itself was well prepared, although the I found it a bit on the salty side and the beef chunks plentiful albeit not as fork tender as I was expecting being braised 'n all. My SO ordered the prime rib which he thoroughly enjoyed as it was rare as he requested and tender. He did find that the outside find was too salty for his liking (which is saying a lot as he puts salt on everything!). This came with horseradish, jus, mushrooms, green beans and grilled red peppers (also yum!) and his choice of accompaniment - a loaded baked potato in his case. My guy was so stuffed after just the bread, salad, his prime rib, and my side of mushrooms that he didn't even touch the baked potato nor any of his vegetables. I feel like such a young working singe professional whenever I go to The Keg as that's who are usually there, in the lounge that is. But I still like the atmosphere and food. The keg has fabulous steaks and they should because that's what they're known for. I find it interesting though that when you order your steak you have to order your sides too, like potato, mushrooms, veggies, etc. And of course you can't have a good hunk of meat without a nice glass of red wine. Needless to say it costs for a nice meal and it's not often we go to The Keg but when we do we go all out - appetizers, drinks, meal and dessert. I joke that I need a cigarette and after a meal because I feel totally satisfied (read between the lines people - I'm discrete here!). All joking aside you'll have a fabulous steak dinner here. Now, if you're not into steak they have good selection of other entrees like chicken dishes, pastas and fish and seafood. The Keg was the first place I had lobster. So the next time I go I'll steak and lobster and think I'm all that. The service has always been good, for the price you pay it should be. We ordered the bacon with scallops and the baked mushroom with some cheesy tuna sauce (I forgot the name sorry). For mains, steaks steaks steaks! Cooked to perfection. And OMG the best dessert I've had, Billy miner Pie!!! I had no more room for dessert as I had 12 oz of NY striploin with sides but oh boy I am glad I ate that pie. The mocha ice cream with caramel and cookie crust was to die for. I will definitely be back! Our server Mischa was very accommodating and had been great from the moment we sat to the time we paid. Really appreciate that kind of service. For ambience, think of it as a date night kind of place with the dim lights, bar, wine cellar and neatly uniformed staff and receptionist. All Keg outlets are always packed specially on weekends so make sure to make reservations ahead of time to avoid waiting. The wait times can go from 15 mins to a ridiculous 90 mins. We sat in the lounge in a big soft comfy booth facing the bar and the sports TV, kinda weird they dimed the lights, and as a new senior the menu was hard to read LOL. I go once a year on my birthday. The food and service has always been impeccable. One downfall... I opened my leftovers the next day and it wasn't my meal - not even same food served at my table. I was very disappointed. So someone got my meal and I wouldn't have known the difference if it had been someone else's steak and garlic mashed. My husband and I had a lovely date night at The Keg Skyview last Friday. We didn't have a reservation and were given a 65 minute wait time, so we went shopping nearby while we waited. Upon returning 20 minutes early, we were shown immediately to a table! That was a nice surprise. Our server was friendly and attentive, checked in regularly, kept our glasses full, but managed to stay under the radar without being overbearing. Our food was out to us promptly, perfectly cooked (even for my picky date), and was one of the best Keg meals I've ever enjoyed. Plus, because it was my birthday, we were surprised with complimentary dessert - the Billy Miner Pie! It was so delicious and big enough to share! On a other note , the timing was horrible, as we barely finished our appetizers the waitress was there with our main course, really disappointed but Emely the manager saved the day and took care of us really well , she give us extra time in between and remade our meals :........... Maybe the best thing about The Keg is that you know you are guaranteed an excellent meal. Anything not meet your expectations? Just mention it and a replacement (and probably a comp) is immediately available. Service is impeccable - Our waiter, Kevin, was there consistently, making sure all was well, and agreeing our appetizer was overcooked - in less than a minute, the manager was at our table with a new plate of calamari, and it was taken off the bill. All with smiles and the perfect attitude - we could not have asked for more. We asked to share a steak and for only $3 more added a plate of mixed veggies in addition to the sides on the plate. I have never seen a better assortment of veggies - there were seven kinds, cooked perfectly, more than enough to share, with no plating charge for dividing the meal. And even though we try to be pretty carb-free, who can resist their bread - piping hot, crunchy and chewy, with whipped butter. It just begs to be eaten! Our littlest diner had the child's meal of two sliders and fries, which was preceded by her OWN included appetizer of celery with ranch dip, ripe strawberries sliced for easy eating, and orange slices. The sliders are also available for adults and WOWZERS are they delicious! Prime rib ground fine that simply melted in your mouth - have never had a "burger" anything like that before! As others have mentioned, if you go during prime time, you are going to have a considerable wait time. And the restaurant itself can be crowded and noisy. However, those factors simply fade away in your memory as you enjoy fabulous food and service. It's been so long since I last been to a keg I forgot how good it is. Ordered the peppercorn steak medium rare I was perfect I highly recommend paring with double baked potatoes delectable. The staff here are awesome as well literally every one we walked by greeting us and wished us well as we left, the food came fast as well which is a double bonus. I like the Keg. I always have. It's what my fiance and I lovingly refer to as "redneck fancy". For example, yesterday we were flanked by a man out with his wife(?) who was wearing a camo baseball cap with his yellow mirrored sunglasses perched on top and, on the other side, two guy drinking martinis, one of this had a rat-tail and undercut. It's always a good show. That being said, the food was great. They have hot dog sliders int eh the bar now that have bacon jam on them. They are to die for. I also had their prime rib burger last night and it was marvelous. These are lounge side only things, and well worth the louder atmosphere of that side of the establishment. My burger did come out wrong, initially (I had asked for no mayo and it was covered in it. I won't eat the stuff), but our server had no problems taking it back and having it redone. It was fast, she didn't complain and it was still delicious when I got it. The reason I took a star off is because they keep taking our favourite things off the menu. My favourite steak (the roasted red pepper sirloin), the tempura battered snap peas and asparagus... Otherwise, the service is always impeccable and if they ever make a mistake, they always make it right. You can't say that about everywhere. read more
