I'm legitimately obsessed with Amami, their sister cafe in Lewisburg, so I had to try Kind. I was impressed - the atmosphere is warm and inviting, and service is quick and friendly. Although I've only been there for brunch with family and friends, the cafe seems like a great place to study and relax. The coffee and other drinks are exceptional. Their menu is more expansive than that at Amami, but they serve similar food for breakfast and lunch. I typically opt for oatmeal in the morning, and a panini at lunchtime (try the Golden Monkey!). Although food is on the pricier side, they offer a punch-card reward system, and regulars can easily work their way to free items. The biggest benefit of making the trip to Selinsgrove is that Kind is much more spacious - parties of more than five people often struggle to find enough space in Amami, and there is ample seating for small groups and larger contingents at Kind. The Kind Cafe is a great change of pace and well worth the drive from Lewisburg to Selinsgrove. read more

We stopped in today for lunch while moving our daughter into susquehanna university. My daughter recommended we eat here and I must say this place was great!!! Atmosphere was adorable and the food was above par! I had the "wild turkey" panini and it was the best turkey sandwich I've had in a very long time. Upon entering I was greeted very warmly by the proprietor who engaged me with great conversation and then began to educate me on the menu. A review is long overdue for this delightful, tucked-away place. Selinsgrove, home to Susquehanna University, is a little town in Central Pennsylvania that I lived in for 4 years when I attended school there. There is a serious lack of culture, decent restaurants, bars and people. Mainly there is a Wal-Mart and cows. And a Taco Bell. But "Downtown Selinsgrove" (it's one street) is home to several cute shops and eateries. And The Kind Cafe is the best one. The Kind Cafe was always great and now that they are under new ownership its even better. Great lattes, espresso, smoothies, coffee, iced tea, the list goes on. Great sandwiches, salads and soups. And NOW they are open on Saturdays (reservations only) for dinner. People. People, people, people. The dinner I had here was DELICIOUS. This guy (the one with the Italian accent) knows what the !@#$ he is doing. You should see the size of the kitchen he's prepping in too - it is dollhouse sized. But the food is amazing. The ambiance at "The Kind," as its referred to by students, is very non-Selinsgrove-esque. If you lived in this town you'd know what I mean. There is art on the walls, a chess board, comfy couches, architecture magazines and dim lighting. The place is transformed on Saturday nights by even dimmer lighting, candles and BYO wine. Everytime I go back to visit school I make SURE to have at least one meal (breakfast, lunch and/or dinner) here...and its worth the trip everytime. read more

I had: ARTHUR SPINACHOKE Creamy spinach & artichoke spread, cucumber, red onion, tomato and cheddar on ciabatta $ 6.50 which was DELICIOUS and a mocha mint blended frozen drink that was also awesome. What a fantastic little spot for breakfast/brunch! I tried 1/2 of the different meals that were ordered on Friday morning: the Italiano, the EBLT, and the yogurt parfait, along with my own drink (lavender latte, iced, and the peanut butter blended drink). My own sandwich, the Italiano, was so tasty, though I did add some greens from my dad's EBLT to it. The spicy slaw that accompanied it was vinegary and I could have eaten a bowlful. The EBLT was really kicked up a notch with the horseradish mayo, I think I'll add something similar to my homemade BLTs in the future. The yogurt parfait.... I don't know what kind of yogurt they use, and I suspect that they weren't going to tell me, but it was somewhere between a cream line and a Greek yogurt, and it was amazing. Lavender was a new flavor for the place, and it's exactly what I was looking for for something a bit different. My husband raved and raved about his peanut butter blended drink (with a shot of espresso for good measure) and he's been on the hunt for something similar around here for two days. Five of us ate for around $50, including a drink a piece. I'm excited to get back up there to try one of their smoothies and basically everything else on their menu. read more

I first came across the Kind Cafe in 2009. I had just moved to Selinsgrove and my internet had yet to be hooked up so I set out to find a place that offered WiFi and the Kind Cafe was that place. I figured I could have a cup of coffee while I worked on my report for work and I am so glad that I did! The cafe is a quaint and comforting establishment in the heart of Selinsgrove. There are comfortable chairs and tables in the back for business people and students to use while working or studying. The coffee selection is just as good, if not better, than Starbucks. The quality is amazing as well. I had an iced caramel macchiato and I could not tell the difference (except for the price). There is also an incredible food selection. I have tried the Olive Tree and Beach Bum grilled sandwiches and they have both been excellent. I've also had a few different breakfast pastries and the quality carries over to them as well. Prices are very good ($5-$8 for sandwiches), too. If you're looking for somewhere to grab your morning coffee or somewhere to kick back and have a chat with friends over lunch, the Kind Cafe is the just the place you're looking for. read more

This is probably the best cup of coffee in there area, next to going to Fresh Roasted Coffee, LLC and buying it for yourself. This place has been around for a very long time. Each owner seemed really into it and kept the brand strong. I am very thankful for that. Such an amazing place. Dav and his staff are awesome. They are always helpful and willing to suggest what roast I will enjoy. The espresso is really damn good. The coffee selection is awesome. Many local vendors getting exposure. My friends and I stopped here on the way to a hiking spot. The food was delicious, but the wait was slightly annoying. They did have vegan and vegetarian options which was a plus.
