Great food, amazing view and great service. One of the few waterfront restaurants in the Charleston area and in my onion one of the best!

Fabulous waterfront dining. The rooftop bar is a fun/bustling spot to pop in for a drink, a bite, and a view. The downstairs dining room (often books full so good idea to make a reservation) also has great food, drinks, and a full dinner menu. Also has some key appetizers not available upstairs (like the grilled octopus which was soooo good!). Plus there is an open kitchen which is fun to watch, especially if you sit at the bar along side it. Staff were friendly and service was spot on. This has to be the best restaurants on Daniel Island and one of the best in Charleston. read more

Well our 2nd visit was a bigger failure than the 1st one when they opened. Grilled octopus was mushy and reminded me of string cheese. It's supposed to have a snap and firm. Sent it back and chef agreed. Send me a new plate and just as bad. King crab came out cold and poor quality. A king crab leg weighs 1lb. See photo. Border line snow crab size. Just terrible. Tuna tartare was decent but a bit overwhelmed in oil and a small portion. Kids and wife enjoyed the crab fried rice. Service at bar was not great prior to sitting at table. Sweet tea for my son was unsweet tea. Why argue, it was unsweetened!!! View and atmosphere great, only reason for 2 stars. Will go back for date night at bar but food and restaurant, no shot. Beautiful scenery. The upstairs patio has the best views. Service was pretty quick and there were no mistakes. The crab fried rice was yummy and the Mahi Mahi juicy. I don't love that they automatically give larger parties (6) one receipt but I know that's slowly becoming the new norm. The waitress did not do a great job hiding her disappointment when we asked for a split bill but since we were not asked first, it wasn't avoidable. read more

Very disappointing meals tonight. We were in town visiting family and celebrating a birthday. After being highly recommended we expected a lot better quality and taste. The menu choices were very limited in our opinion for an expensive waterfront restaurant. Seafood platter was poor quality. Pasta dish was small and little flavor fish sliders were awful. Food deserves 5 stars, service is what earned the two. Upon our arrival the hostess pictures in our picture was not friendly at all... you should want the first person your customers meet to be pleasant. She was not. Our reservation was for indoors, and it was for 5 PM. We were one of the first 4 customers there. Hostess proceeded to take us outside. My wife stopped her and advised our reservation was for indoors. The hostess proceeds to HUFF and responded (ok I'll see what i can do) mind you again it's 5 pm, and it's 2 adults and a child... hostess turns around to go back inside and lets the door close in our face... we stand there in shock and the hostess comes back and opens the door... We were finally sat down but her attitude ruined what should have been a great evening... Our child pleaded for us to stay, so we did, but will probably not return if she is still there.. read more

We went for happy hour. Only the bar and roof top is open for happy hour. We found out you MUST be seated at the actual bar to partake in happy hour not just seated in the bar but at the bar. Service was fine and food was good. A little pricey and since the actual bar area is a little small it's a little silly to not allow people to sit at a table in the bar and partake in happy hour. Regardless this place is nice, has great views of the river and is worth a visit. Would have given one more star if it wasn't for the "bar" seating issue. read more

Went to Kingstide with several friends. We wanted to sit outside but it was a bit too cool so we grabbed a table in the bar. It was Happy Hour but we were informed that it was only available if you were sitting at bar. Obviously that didn't make us happy.Then 2 women came in with 3 dogs and proceded to sit at the bar. The dogs were blocking the aisle and they even put them up on the bar stools. A couple was at a high top trying to enjoy their food but the dogs were creating a commotion next to them even jumping on one of their legs. Is it even allowed to have pets in a place that serves food? Definitely not a pleasant experience. read more

Great food, fantastic view. Drinks were okay. We had the pickled shrimp salad and blackened grouper burrito, both of which were fantastic! We started with the hush puppies, which my fiance loved but I thought they were dry and a bit tasteless. Definitely worth a stop; the view alone is worth going here; make sure you get the second level and sit outdoors. We arrived when they opened on a Saturday and there was plenty of space. read more

Kingstide is top notch!! I ate here multiple times during my short visit to the area, coming back k each time because of stellar atmosphere, service and food. My faves... service was near perfect! Food - if you aren't happy, they make it right so you are. Key lime pie with the charred marshmallows and crunchy crust, fall sangria tastes like fall, fish sliders are so inventive and the tartar sauce complements perfectly (ask for extra), burrata. Atmosphere... rooftop bar, lively but controlled, so it was enjoyable. The set up was pleasant and refreshing even during rain and humidity. Happy hour is very affordable. Rest of menu is reasonably priced especially considering the excellent service, food and atmosphere!! read more

I can only give compliments to this place. We has out of town guests and a family birthday. They treated us royally! It's a lovely place in a great location. The service was above great! We all had different entrees but started with fried calamari, burr at a ( which was amazing), and oysters on the half shell. All the entrees were creative, flavorful, perfect temp! Very disappointed with happy hour at Kingstide this evening. Meet some friends and sat at table in the bar area because it was chilly outdoors. Because we were not seated AT the bar we could not have happy hour prices. This is ridiculous. Also a couple of women came in and sat at the bar with their THREE dogs. There was no consideration for the couple sitting behind them having dinner as they picked the dogs up and put them on the bar stools and passed them to other folks who were interested in the dogs. Is it even legal to bring pets into a bar? Again. Ridiculous. For the price point, there should be more consideration for ALL the customers. Will not be back. read more

It was our first time for us to try this place. The restaurant wasn't open for business but upstairs was open for service. We decided to have lunch, we ordered the fish sliders and fries, it wasn't mentioned on the menu that the fish was Bologna. Once we received our receipt that's when we found out about the Bologna's fish sliders and waffle fries, when received shoe string fries. I don't plan on coming back. I was disappointed. read more

This place has everything. The view the parking the food the staff everything was positive. Of course we went on a weeknight so that kept the crowds away a little bit but even if it was a busy weekend the parking would still be adequate. One of the only waterfront restaurants in the area, the Kingstide has a wonderful ambiance with a downstairs full dining room and patio plus upstairs balcony and bar. I was drinking the Maritime Mango, a reposado based cocktail that is light and refreshing and the perfect amount of sweet. I did try my partners espresso martini and enjoyed it, the espresso is the top note with a hint of sweetness. To start we had the ceviche, it was fresh and well seasoned. I had the Blackened Mahi Tacos for my main and I cant wait to get them again. The fish is incredibly well seasoned and complimented by the jalapeño crema perfectly. My partner had the DI Burger and it was really the perfect classic burger. Our waitress/ bartender since we sat at the bar upstairs was incredibly friendly and communicated about the drinks/ kitchen well. I highly recommend trying this spot if you're in the area, but is genuinely worth making a trip out to from whatever part of Charleston you live in. read more

We have been coming to the Kingstide since they opened. The service has really become a concern. Last time my wife and I came for dinner. Our server seemed disengaged from the start. Drinks took forever. Food was brought to the table and there was no silverware. Server didn't know any of the wines or what they tasted like. The manager brought our dessert and when we asked if we could have spoons he was like yeah I guess you might need those. Not sure we'd come back after that experience. Charleston is full of good restaurants to bother with poor service. read more

It's a lovely setting but I found the food disappointing. I ordered the salsa with shrimp. The salad dressing was tasteless. The shrimp was cooked so that it was so difficult to peel. Our server was polite enough but it took us 10 minutes to even get his attention while he socialized with other employees. Overall I was disappointed. read more

Pro tip: get here right when they open to get a table. My friend and I showed up right at 12pm on a Saturday and were seated at the rooftop bar immediately. The rooftop bar is definitely more casual than the dining room downstairs. The menu is also smaller and more suited for lunch. We started out with the Oysters Rockefeller for an appetizer and although my friend raved about them, I thought they were just okay. For drinks, we both had the Wando Zombie with Sea Island Spiced Rum, Passionfruit, Velvet Falernum, and Lime Angostura. It was very refreshing and a pretty bright yellow color. For the main dish I had the pickled shrimp, which comes with a lot of cabbage, cilantro, peanuts, lime, and a spicy chili sauce. It was the perfect combination of textures and flavors for me. The cabbage added a nice crunch and the dressing on the cabbage was spicy and acidic. It was also a bigger portion than I expected and it was the perfect lunch for me. My friend had the fish tacos and really enjoyed them. The views from the rooftop are so pretty and there's plenty of parking nearby. I know that there's a ferry that runs from downtown right to the Kingstide, so I want to try that next time. Definitely recommend it if you're on Daniel Island. read more

I'm a local and brought my parents here during their visit. I was looking forward to the lobster Cobb salad from my last visit, but unfortunately it's not lobster season. Megan helped us pick oysters each of us would like, and was patient as we took a while to order. All the food came very quick (it was 6pm on a Tuesday)! The cauliflower was excellent- love the tahini sauce. The burrata has been on the menu however they recently changed the accompaniments and the manager asked how we liked it. We let him know we would've preferred a crostini (it used to be served with one but not anymore), or at least more greens to soak up the creamy cheese. He appreciated the honesty and I wish managers would ask for feedback like this more often rather than just "how is your meal". I enjoyed the Spring Fling cocktail with a goat cheese strawberry, and my mom enjoyed Captain Colbys Punch (I preferred hers). Everyone enjoyed their mains, however unfortunately I did not like my crab fried rice- I left substantially full from the starters and a couple bites of everyone's dish so all good. This is a good spot for sharing as the starter section is large and the entrée section is smaller. We had dinner downstairs and then enjoyed dessert at the lounge area of the bar rooftop. I've seen a few reviews complaining they couldn't get a view with their seat, however the restaurant by no means guarantees this, and you're always welcome to walk to the deck to take it in. Excellent service both times I've visited. I recommend to those who live in the area and to tourists who want to venture to another part of Charleston rather than downtown. read more

Our dining experience was extremely disappointing. We were in Charleston for a girl's trip (6 of us total) and this was the first restaurant on our list. We ordered 3 things from the "for the table" section: Tuna tartare, ceviche and seasoned fries. The tuna tartare and ceviche were very small portions, certainly not portions that I would describe as "for the table". I don't even think everyone got one bite of each. The seasoned fries never came, we asked for them three times. They finally brought them and let us know they would be taken off the bill. A few of us ordered cocktails. They were so bland and really didn't match up with the description of the beverage. We sent a few back and ordered a bottle of wine instead. We were checked on maybe once. We had to flag people down to get attention. Once the main entree came out, it was mediocre at best. A few of us ordered the shrimp gnocchi, which was very underwhelming. Maybe we just ordered the wrong thing from this place? The restaurant was clean and ambiance was nice. Luckily we still enjoyed the evening, but any time with my girls is a great time. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this restaurant. read more

Food is 5 star. View is 5 Star. Four of us had dinner. I was there first. Server pours all four waters, offers a drink and I ask for time with the cocktail menu. Amazing drink called a grandfather garden. Reposada tequila and a host of other fascinating ingredients. Server came back. I ordered the drink off tbe cocktail menu. The waiter said "what""? I showed him the menu. Instead of saying wow, ok, let me get that for you he said, "I've never seen that before - let me go check." Sad it was an advance menu I shouldn't have had. They couldn't make the drink. He asked me what else I'd like. "The real cocktail menu;" I asked. We ordered the pickled shrimp and octopus appetizer for the table. So good. Again, food is 5 star. We finished the octopus and two of us were finishing the pickled shrimp. (Lots of cabbage with it, terrific spice level). Sever comes to clear the table. He takes my silverware, and I say we're still working on the appetizer and he says he'll bring clean silverware and the takes my plate. Neither clean plate nor clean silverware arrived before entrée. Luckily, the pickled shrimp came with two serving forks so we finished the dish with the serving forks from the serving plate in the middle of the table. (I then hid a fork under my napkin in case I was going to have more trouble with him with the entreés. Two of us ordered a bottle of wine after the appetizers. Entrées came. Said wine wasn't chilled. It arrived half way through entrees. Lobster roll, campfire trout and seasonal swordfish was a killer. Other party ordered lobster agnolotti but they were out of agnolotti so they substituted gemelli pasta. She didn't care for it Dessert- also amazing. A key lime mouse with scorched meringue and a pecan pie cheesecake. We all loved them. I understand everyone has staffing issues. And I tipped 33% or more because I feel for servers everywhere. And I'm not even going to tell you about the "nage", with the swordfish. What's a "nage" I asked. "It's between a broth and a sauce." You can imagine the rest of that conversation. . Anyway, It's going to be an amazing place if they get their nage together. read more

Great place - quite crowded and busy, but the view and the eats made up for it (and the ridiculously looooong wait). I had the Lobster Cobb, which was delicious and super hearty for a salad. We had great mocktails downstairs, and we look forward to eating there....where it's hopefully a bit quieter. read more

Pros: Amazing views, very good service, kind staff, and delicious appetizers. Opportunities to improve: adapt a bit more to food allergies or dont put the order in before checking. We ordered the swordfish - 2 plates, mine was with no changes to it and was cooked well but had an interesting gravy sauce on it vs a lemon sauce that I would come to expect. My wife who has a gluten allergy got the swordfish too, but found out that the sauce had gluten so it was to come out with it. So it was a non-sauced swordfish lacking flavor - now part of this is my wife cant have the gravy, but I would have hoped to have someone come back and say do you want to continue ordering that or change. OR a few of the other dishes (like the Trout had a lemon dill sauce) substitute that for someone with an allergy. Overall, I would come back for drinks, the views, and apps. The dinner portion left a little to the imagination. read more
