The Kitchen has been on my short list of places to try, finally had an opportunity to visit, after leaving a doctor's appt, nearby. My husband and I were looking for breakfast on a cold, snowy November morning. The Kitchen fit the bill! We visited on a weekday morning, so there were only a few other customers. We were greeted warmly by the hostess/server, and immediately seated. We quickly reviewed the menu and made our selection, from loads of options. I chose an "everything" omelette, subbing chicken sausage for pork sausage and bacon, with veggies, I added wheat toast. My husband ordered the BLT, minus avocado, with breakfast potatoes. The kitchen is open, so we watched as our meals were prepared! Our food arrived a short time later. My omelette was huge, filled with extra mushrooms (by request), tomatoes, peppers, chicken smoked sausage, and cheddar cheese. The toast was thick sliced and toasted perfectly! My husband enjoyed his sandwich, thick cut bacon, fresh veggies, thick cut bread, and perfectly cooked potatoes. The chef and server checked on us several times. Wife and I had breakfast here this morning and I hope this place sticks around. First off the there are a TON of Breakfast options. I had a hard time choosing what to get, but since I'm a sucker for Biscuits and Gravy I went with my gut. Literally The biscuits were fresh and definitely homemade. The sausage gravy was thick but not over salted. The red potatoes were well Seasoned and not over cooked. Everything was great! Give this place a shot. The only negative is that Orange Theory is next door and it feels like your in an earthquake. read more

We took advantage of the 50% off special today to try and support local. I'm not cheap, but feeding a family of 5 and trying to support local gets expensive! I am glad to have given them a try! The breakfast foods were great! The monte cristo was huge and delicious. The double-decker burger was big enough to feed my hungry 20-year old son! Also the PANCAKES ARE ENORMOUS and delicious! Hands down the best French toast I've ever tasted. Light, fluffy and full of flavor. I was a little nervous that the Carmel in my banana French toast would mute out the banana's but it was in perfect proportion. The only complaint I have is that it took a little long to get our food even though we ordered before the table next to us did.. food could have been a tad bit warmer but overall was a great experience. I've posted a great review before, but on our 6th and final trip to The Kitchen, it has to be a 3 star. My husband and I love going out to breakfast, but sadly he tested positive for Covid, so I picked up breakfast for the two of us. I used the online order button to order two Bae breakfast sandwiches. It was an easy order and it said 20-25 minutes. I went with the later time. Not ready. Ok no problem. This isn't the first time I've had to wait for a breakfast here. Once we waited an hour because one of the waitresses didn't show. Totally understood. We had no problem with that. So I finally get the sandwiches. Once I get home and we start to eat them, my husband asked where the bacon is. Come to see mine was missing too. A Bae sandwich is Bacon, egg and avocado, cheese, tomato on a bagel. It's not rocket science to make a sandwich. There is always only one chef. Being that it's an open kitchen, I can see that he's always overwhelmed with orders from eat in customers, online and phone orders. I had tried to call my order in first, but it said the mail box was full. I'm beyond understanding about lack of workers, but I'm just done already. I pay a lot more money now with restaurants charging more, all I want is the food I ordered. read more

I ate here last year and had a good experience, but my daughter got takeout from them this week and wrote the following: I tried their food when they showed up on Doordash recently. I got chocolate chip pancakes, and a biscuit skillet with potatoes, a biscuit, cheese and sausage gravy. The potatoes seemed under cooked. The biscuit seemed dry and old. The pancakes were bland. The food was so disappointingly bad I ended up just throwing out half of it rather than keep eating it or even saving it as leftovers. Being from Georgia not too many people in Ohio have conquered Southern cooking (mainly biscuits and sausage gravy, been here 5 years and it all tastes horrible). Not expecting for them to quench the craving for authentic biscuits and gravy, I went for the corn beef hash....and it was amazing! That was a couple weeks ago....fast forward to today, woke up with the craving for biscuits and gravy, decided why not? If anyone could come close I would give them the benefit of me trying it just to see. I debated the biscuit and gravy skillet but settled for the biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs....it was amazing! The texture of the biscuits, the consistency of the gravy, the taste...it was all there! Just like a weekend at my grandparents minus the bacon of course but it was what I had been looking for and the certain taste that I craved! Wish I could rate this on the food. We ordered our food, 52 minutes later no food in sight. We left with a crying 16 month old. What was concerning was the diners waiting for their food but watching to go order after to go order leave the window. Yet nobody communicated how long until our order. The waitress was kind. And the cooks were pleasant. The cook was working his hardest with a small griddle. Then menu sounds good but too aggressive for an establishment who is attempting to deliver brick and mortar, in addition to the food delivery culture . I hate leaving negative reviews but I have to tell you; I really wanted to give this place a 5 star but even if the service was good I can only give the food a 2. We entered the restaurant and no one really acknowledging us till after 5 minutes. They cleared a table sat us and we ordered coffee, it took 10 minutes to get a refill. Ordered our breakfast and hour later my husband had to go ask the waitress where our food was. Apparently Uber eats took off with our food ( no sorry, no free coffees ) basically she told us "the owner is your chef and he's doing the best he can!" Really? That's all you can say? First off a few words of advise to the owner! Get rid of Uber eats! Your ruining your business! Second word of advise, treat your customers better. Third your menu is beautiful but your food didn't pack much of punch. Lack in spices and flavor. This was my first visit and it'll be my last! They're way to many breakfast joints in town that give you better service and better food. I honestly don't see your business surviving. read more

Warning: the vegan impossible burger they sell is NOT The Impossible Burger! We tried to explain that they should change the name on the menu. The Impossible Burger is trademarked! They would not listen and kept telling us there are many versions. There is only one Impossible Burger made by Impossible Foods. This was a generic flat veggie burger and the waitress left our food sitting on the counter about 7 minutes so it wasn't hot anymore, and everyone had a good attitude UNTIL I said something about the menu. This really pains me because I know this place is super new, they have been open less than a month. Here's my experience... I DID NOT TRY THE FOOD! So please understand this an experience review not a food review. I stopped in on Friday afternoon to try them out. I like trying new places and I love diners and brunch places. Well, these guys are super new and I will give them the benefit of the doubt but my first experience was not good. I walked in at about 1pm, there was a pair seated and me, so the place wasn't busy at all. My greeting and the way the person after me was greeted were subpar. Great places great you "Hi! Dinning in or take out?" or some variation. Here, it was a "Hi"...then a weird pause, i'm sure they'll work on it. So I looked at the menu and ordered a Cobb Salad and a cup of coffee. Weird combo right? I don't know, I really wanted a coffee. The two ladies up front were working on a software issue on the front computer and took a minute or two to place my order with the cook. So I sit and wait...and wait...and wait...and they have an open kitchen, I can see the cook working. To say he was moving at a snails pace is being kind. I have never seen a diner cook move this slow. I watched him pull out a 'to go' container for my salad, then a minute later (after finding it) add lettuce to that 'to go' container. Then a few minutes later add another ingredient...this went on and on. At this point I am thinking "Is this seriously happening right now?" Here are the two things that made me walk out. I looked at my phone and to my surprise I have been watching this cook get out a container and fill it with lettuce and ***18 MINUTES*** has passed. I could have jumped behind the counter and made 4 salads in that time. Maybe I was being impatient I don't know. Second thing...the cook is a larger man, and let me say being a big guy myself I know the importance of cloths fitting correctly. This gentleman had a shirt on that did NOT fit correctly. So, there I was, sitting and watching the cook's shirt slide up repeatedly exposing his front and backside (plumber style). Of course he has to make wardrobe corrections with his gloved hands that he would then use to add ingredients to my salad. That was the point in which I said "NOPE" and walked out. Oh and in all that time I never got my coffee. :( I never wish bad on anyone or any business. I love small businesses I really do, I hope they get the hang of things and really become a great place. I read the reviews of this place and decided to try it. Sorry to say I have nothing positive to say about the kitchen. Busing tables was non existent as 90% of the tables were left with dishes on them. The chairs are very uncomfortable. Service was slow. The food came out with cold bacon (no excuse for that). My wife did enjoy her red velvet pancake. In defense of the woman taking care of the front, she was constantly in motion, there needs to be more help there. read more

With some good things going for them, starting with quality ingredients, it's sad to see them shooting themselves in the foot with everything else. Service is friendly but scant and disorganized, well, not actually organized at all, and the restaurant is clearly too big for the one-man-band at the cook top. Even if we had wanted to wait over an hour for our breakfast (which we didn't), I would expect individual diners to get their meal complete. Having "poached" eggs (they were actually watery braised, not poached) 10 minutes after the rest of the plate, this after an initial hour wait, simply isn't acceptable. My sausage gravy lacked seasoning and flavor, but other items were fine. Get it together, please. Mentor needs good breakfast places. read more
