Kookaburra...what happened? When we first moved to Saint John's a few years ago from California, I thought the speciality coffee was sure to disappoint. However, to my surprise, Kookaburra had phenomenal lattes. On top of that it's a great place to bring the kids and was our Saturday ritual we looked to do after taking my girls to the dance studio nearby. However, for the past 6 months the quality of the lattes has deteriorated. The lattes come out either too bitter, watery and/or EXTREMELY hot. (It is possible to burn the milk while you froth it.) I'm not sure what it is, maybe the machines aren't being cleaned frequently, the espresso isn't dialed in, there is a new staff that isn't trained properly and pays attention to details? This is also not a one time occasion. I have come back many times and hoped the quality would be different. I've given back my latte and pointed out its ways too hot , the milk hasn't frothed well, etc, but still leave disappointed. One thing that I can't wrap my mind around is that there is a coffee shop about 10 minutes (Mikes Pour) which sources their beans Kookaburra and were initially trained by Kookaburra. Same recipes , just different name AND better taste. This place can be the perfect shop for the neighborhood. And I love the brand and was inclined to buy some swag. The cold brew was smooth, refreshing, and had just the right amount of flavor without being overly bitter. Went around 9:00 on a Saturday, steady line, but quick movement. Large open space with ample inside seating as well as outside seating. We took to go. Cashier was great, friendly and helpful. This spot on first visit is a bit hard to find but it is in the health building and once you park and walk around you'll find it. There was a pretty long line when we got there but it moved very fast. We got two coffees the pumpkin and honey badger both iced and two Aussie pies. I've been waiting for this moment! After trying the kookaburra beans and products in other coffee shops, I had to come try out the real deal. Of course I ordered the honeybadger, matcha form. It's just as good as the first one I've tried at a local cafe in a different city. Service was so friendly and quick, I'd come back again!! Wonderful gem. Highly recommend. Like the other comments mention, this is part of the medical building, go around to the side and you should see it. I love this place and all the other Kookaburra shops but this one in particular had great customer service and was clean. I really appreciated how the young woman helped me at the counter and answered all of my questions. I previously visited this location a few years back and it was also very clean and the customer service was excellent. In addition, I found this location helpful because I needed to get groceries immediately after and the grocery store is right next to it. Highly recommend. read more

Delightful surprise of a cafe amid Saturday errands and thunderstorms. Had tried to grab coffee at their downtown St Augustine location a while back, but it was packed. I can see why now. Their Aussie-style breakfast pies are a welcome change of pace from your everyday breakfast sandwich that normally appears in coffee shops. Better, their espresso and ice brew had wonderful bright notes filling out the taste. Cafe space had ample seating inside and out, as well as a splash pad that all the kids there seemed to enjoy. We're not down that part of the state often, but the next time we are, it'll be a treat to visit again read more

The location is weird - it's INSIDE of a hospital? Anyways, Kookaburra has so much potential. It was the only local *not Starbuck's* coffee shop in Nocatee and because of that, the line was long. It definitely would've been a better experience if the kids next to me weren't climbing all over the medical desk/equipment in line (idk what it was...) That said, I don't think I've had a better seasonal Pumpkin Spice Latte than from here. They use REAL pumpkin and it was insanely delicious. They advertise a lengthy selection of "Aussie Pies" so we went considerably out of our way to patronize them. At 4:00pm, they were out of pies. They are open until 8:00pm. They should make a note on their website that pies are not available in the afternoons. We are disappointed that they had no food for us and want others to be prepared for the same situation. Members of my family went ahead and ordered coffee. They said it tasted "muddy" if that means anything to coffee drinkers. I don't drink coffee. Such amazing service. The two women kept their cool even with a busy lunch rush. Don't be fooled by the location inside the Flagler Health building, they are just as GOOD as any other Kook. I loved my iced P. C. Latte as always and slurped it down. You can ask for milk alternatives or choose from whole or 2% milk. I also snagged a pumpkin and walnut muffin which was nice and not the typical overly sweet muffin you see everywhere else. It was nice not falling into a sugar coma after my mid-morning pick me up. I would LOVE to try a hot pie next time I'm there. There is plenty of well lit seating while you wait for an appointment or want to get some work/studying done. They also have free wifi (I couldn't connect unfortunately) and it isn't too loud inside. There are also outside seating options available. I would love to say thank you to my barista (with the amazing winged eye liner) for noticing my "Crime Junkie" shirt and starting up a conversation. Super good food, and the best staff! I was so excited to visit this Kookaburra, as it's a little closer to my area than the St. Augustine one. The location is in the medical plaza on the bottom left side. There is plenty of parking on the side. Inside is very spacious and bright. Theres a lot of seating inside and there's a covered outdoor patio in the front. They have a counter where you order and all the pies and treats are in a display on the right side. The staff are super friendly and upbeat. They greet you when you walk in and are very happy to answer any questions or help you with any requests. I got the breakfast Aussie Pie, which had bacon, cheese, sausage, and egg. It was delicious! Honestly, it's enough for 2 people because I was so full after eating half. The top is flaky and light and the inside is so flavorful. Overall, a great experience. There was no wait when I visited. Hope to visit again soon! read more

This is of my favorite places to grab a cup of coffee! You may have a hard time trying to find it because it's attached to a Medical Building. They recently placed reserved parking spaces which may be helpful in trying to locate them. The inside is very clean and there are a few tables to sit & enjoy your coffee. In addition to coffee, they offer a few baked goods, breakfast and lunch pies called Aussie Pies. I have not tried one yet since I seem to always stop by after having a big lunch. I will definitely try one soon since they all look delicious. I've tried the Honey Badger and my favorite drink is the Mocha Nut. I've tried it hot & iced. Both are good, but prefer it hot. I had Kookaburra on my list of places to check out for a month. With a lazy Sunday, I asked my mom if she wanted to grab a coffee. She said yes, so we headed over to Kookaburra in Nocatee. This coffee shop is located in a medical building, behind the Publix plaza in Nocatee. You don't have to go inside the medical building to visit Kookaburra. We pulled into the parking lot and were happy to see they had designated spaces for Kookaburra customers. I'm sure this comes in handy during their busy time (mornings). We pulled in and entered the coffee shop. It's very bright inside (white walls, wood and red accents). After looking at the menu, I had a hard time deciding what to get. I was between a mocha nut latte and an Alaskan cocoa (essentially a frozen hot cocoa). Ultimately the mocha nut won out because I was cold and wanted something hot. The barista was super nice, friendly, and delightful. We ordered two mocha nut lattes (their lattes come in three different sizes). Both lattes were decafe (I know you're thinking why bother even having coffee if you're going to get decafe, but listen, caffeine and after 2pm don't mix with me. I'd be up all hours and cranky Carla is not a fun Carla). The menu has a variety of hot and cold beverages. They even have meat pies, which I definitely plan on trying on my next visit. Prices were reasonable, $8.50 for two small lattes. When I took a sip of my latte, it was delicious: rich, creamy, robust, sweet, and a little nutty. A perfect mix of flavors. It was like one of those chocolates that have coconut nugget inside, so good! Kookaburra is a welcome addition to the Nocatee area! Finally found another new favorite coffee shop in Jax! I checked Yelp for coffee shops near us and The Kookaburra just popped out! Location is definitely very convenient! First of all, we almost missed them lol. The signage is only in the front but the parking is on the side. Anyways, place is really nice. Aside from coffee, they also have pastries and pies! Oh my goodness! I tried the Aussie pie and it was delicious! Flaky crust with lots of fillings, we thoroughly enjoyed it! As for the coffee, we ordered Latte and Breve, both were very good! Kookaburra is an American-Aussie expresso bar that just opened up in the Nocatee area. Simple menu. They also have Vegan and Gluten Free food items, as well as delicious Pies. They also have other locations. What I love about this shop is the baristas are ultra friendly, knowledgeable and yes, coffee is always done right.
