Donnie is an awesome personal trainer! If you are looking for someone in Spokane to help you make a…read morehealthy lifestyle change, have fun working out, build muscle, and/or lose weight - he's your guy! Since starting with Donnie, I've been redefining my relationship with health and fitness & he has played a huge role in that. I've always played sports at a high-level since elementary, and became entirely burned out after playing varsity basketball all four years of high school & travel ball. After graduating, I hated playing and refused to go to the gym since I no longer "required" to go. Since 2011, I've had my short spurts of working out, but nothing stuck because I still despised working out. It wasn't fun. About 3 months ago, I was the heaviest I've ever been at 165 pounds (was consistently 130 pounds prior). That's when I contacted Donnie with my goal of dropping to 145 & overall just wanting to feel better. Fast forward to now: my association with fitness has become immensely more positive (joined a gym to play basketball, am learning to breakdance, look forward to group fitness classes, and am generally more active on a day-to-day basis), my strength has increased & gained muscle, I have a better idea of nutrition goals, and have lost about 5 pounds. I'm looking forward to seeing my results by the end of 2021 & am motivated to make these changes a new lifestyle, while continuing to have fun learning new fitness styles and physical activities!

I moved to Spokane in August and found Donnie through TikTok (lol) in October. But I also found his…read morecommunity of awesome trainees at all sizes, ages, and experience levels. We all have different goals, yet he's super patient, positive, and effective with each of us. (For example, I didn't want to take comparison photos or do regular weigh ins because of my own psych needs, and he's been totally supportive of that.) All the trainees are also super supportive of each other. It's only gotten better since his rebrand as Torq and relocation to 1420 E Sprague. Donnie and this community are one of my favorite parts of my new life here. What to expect: small group training of 2-6 people, a cool app that helps you track your nutrition and fitness goals, and a trainer who's always on your side. And maybe if you're lucky some boxing circuits!

When I cancelled my membership, there were no questions asked and the reason the staff member put…read moredown for cancellation was "Not Using". This is pretty much typical for the gym where the staff is generally generally checked out. I use the gym regularly btw, but I plan to move to the Y. The gym has a lot of outdated and broken equipment and they seem to just get by repairing some things when others break. Treadmill, elliptical, strength training machines. The reason I left was that I got tired of the aquatics being unavailable. The steam room was down for close to 6 months. The pool has been without heat for at least a month now and the spa is hit or miss as to whether it is working. Is it possible that they are cutting costs by turning off certain things that need heat to save money? Just a cynical guess. Even the drinking fountains don't put out cold water, only tepid. (By the way, it would be so nice to have bottle fill stations) There are many cleanliness issues that seem to come and go, showers and pool area come to mind. At least with the pool so cold there is a better ratio of water to hair since people aren't using it as much. I really wanted to share this with management, but I guess the staff forced me to come here to leave my thoughts.

I read-up and checked out all of the highly reviewed trainers in town, but found most of them either had inconsistent customer feedback or didn't really focus on weightlifting.... Biju is different and not only looked the part but has also demonstrated over the course of ~20 workouts a deep knowledge of each muscle group, which movements target each specific muscles, and how to get the most gains out of workouts. I'm impressed by the physical changes of my body over a short time and how no two workouts are ever the same. Each session is one hour and targets two muscle groups (back/biceps, chest/triceps, and shoulders/legs). I also appreciated that he doesn't focus on any injury prone / dangerous movements as past trainers have had me do exercises that inevitably lead to a hurt back etc. which put me out of action for several weeks. I highly recommend Biju and you won't find a better trainer in Spokane if you want to focus on building muscle. His prices are also very reasonable and they are a well run family business.

Take a meditative journey . Recently celebrating their grand…read moreopening, Grassroots Wellness & Fitness Spa was designed around the most important person in the world: You. Everything is tailored to your body and your concerns with the purpose of having you leave revitalized, relaxed and refreshed. I went to the Grand Opening and immediately knew this was something completely different. Highly personalized and an intimate environment with a focus on inner beauty is what sets Grassroots apart from other spas or fitness studios. Located in the South Hill's Cathedral District at Grand & 13th, Grassroots offers everything from pedicures and facials to massage to biofeedback. In the upstairs Fitness Studio you'll find yoga, Pilates, and meditation classes and for your directional needs there's even a Life Coach on staff. Upon meeting owner Julie Greeley, one can instantly see her passion has a purpose which shines through, realizing that the opening Grassroots was a a detailed dream turned reality with things falling into confirming this was the journey she was meant to be on. Greeley, a regional director for the past 20 years with Sta-fit Athletic Club, 24 Hour Fitness and now OZ Fitness in Spokane says she loved what she did but their was a true balance missing in the Fitness Industry and believes in helping people to find the balance in their life of the mind, body and soul. A co-worker's tragic ending catapulted Greeley to set her vision into action, as she felt we all need to return to our Grassroots and find balance and inner beauty and wellness for our journey. Enlighten yourself and be a Spa ritualist. Because we all deserve to live the good life.
