Worst hotel I've stayed at. Don't get a room facing the road, otherwise you'll hear every car passing by and people talking through the AC unit hanging out the window... Also had to call the front desk twice to complain about someone playing their music excessively loud past midnight in their room and music never stopped. read more

RESTAURANT AWESOME.. ROOMS NOT SO MUCH Almost all of the rooms face a road. The Air conditioning is almost nonexistent, but it is usually nice at night so you can have the window open. The problem is the road noise, plus the fact that in the summer, it doesn't get dark at night! By far though is the casual restaurant out back on the deck. The room itself was fine and comfortable. However, you have to request a microwave for the room. There is a window unit for the air conditioning. The problem is when you close the curtains, it covers the window unit. Therefore, blocking the air. During the summer solstice, it doesn't get dark at all so it's frustrating to have to choose between a cool room or darkness to sleep. Thank God I have an eye mask. read more

Not worth the money. Here is my list of why; 1. The layout of the hotel is ridiculous. It is a confusing maze that never seems to end. Unless your in a lower number room, you will be walking a long way. 2. The hallways have an unpleasant odor. 3. The pillows are the most uncomfortable pillows I've ever slept on, and the beds are pretty poor as well. 4. I was in the far corner of the hotel and did not pick up the free wi-fi. Don't book here if you actually want a room. We booked and paid for our rooms month in advance. When we got to the hotel (after taking a cab because the shuttle that was always 3 mins away never showed) they said we didn't have a room (even though she confirmed our reservation on her computer) and it was first come first serve. We finally relented seeing there was nothing we could do and were leaving to go to another hotel when another woman came in from the airport and got a room without a reservation. I am just flabbergasted about how an establishment can function like this. read more

Very disappointing with how much this hotel charges a night you'd think it'd be a 5 star hotel but their lobby was nice with a cozy little fireplace and several animals on the walls and showcases but overall honestly that's about all it has going to them. If you plan on arriving early morning be assure you'll have to wait until 3 p.m. to check in and get a room. Room: We had the deluxe room with 2 queen size beds. Upon entering the room it had a smell of smelly feet. My husband's side of the bed had a urine stain on the mattress and the scent penetrates through sheets. Let front desk know but didn't seem that they fixed it because it still smelled. He ended up sleeping closer to my side where it was clean. The mini refrigerator doesn't work so don't plan on buying beverages to keep cold in the refrigerator. A/C works but just doesn't blow out cool or cold air it's more of a warm breeze coming out in a room where it's already warm. Window opens which we attempted to open but to see that it's broken so unable to open window for some natural air to come in. Bathroom tub floor felt uneven and just poorly constructed. By the window pane had several dead insects that no one seem to clean. Housekeeping we tipped each morning before we went about our day just to come back to the hotel to see they hadn't vacuum nor dust the tables. Laundry room only has 2 washers and 2 dryers with a detergent dispenser but no coin machine to get coins for your laundry. You would have to go to the front desk to request for some quarters. Overall, we had a great trip just very disappointing to pay a lot and knowing we could've stayed at the Sheraton or Hilton for what we paid here. We plan on coming back next summer to Alaska but we won't be staying here again. We've stayed at a lot of hotels that were worth the money sadly The Lakefront isn't worth it and it'd be better to stay at a hotel and know it was worth every penny and would return to that hotel than to pay big bucks but to get a 1 star experiance. read more

Five stars because every time I come my room is clean, never had a problem with sheets being dirty & the beds are comfortable. Breakfast can be pricey depending on what you get but it's actually worth it. Rooms are quite spacious. Food is around walking distance. It may take forever and a day to get to your room though depending on what room do you have because the hallways are super long. read more

For $300 a night this is pathetic. I'm assuming they paid to remove previous negative reviews. So the Lakefront is a hotel set on Lake Spenard less than 5min from the airport. They have shuttle buses taking you to and from the airport, downtown, and the train station. They have two restaurants and an outside patio for a beautiful lakefront view. The hotel has been recently renovated, but it seems to only be superficial. The rooms contain outdated window AC units, quite literally the hundred dollar ones from Home Depot. Due to this, you can choose to either keep your curtains open, or risk the room getting too hot. Yes, they have a blind above the unit, but light floods in anyway without both curtains closed. Layout of the room and amenities are pretty standard: desk, TV, mini fridge, a somewhat random counter, and a tiny closet. For 300/night I would expect better, as other hotels such as the Marriott and Hilton have suites that cost less than this place and are only an extra 7min drive away. Biggest complaint? As I stated earlier, the renovations were superficial. There is an obvious plumbing problem as can be seen when the vent in the bathroom allows water to leak through. Maintenance isn't 24/7, and couldn't solve the problem (which is understandable, they would have to go through the ceiling to see). I'm assuming renovations were to cover water damage? Either way, the ceiling leaks for about 15-30 min at a time. Assuming I caught it soon enough, it churns out about 2-3cups of water. This is a daily occurrence. Aside from aesthetics, this is a safety issue assuming someone slips, falls, and injures themselves. Overall, a complete disappointment for what I'm spending. read more

Went in to have a drink in the bar and watch the planes take off and land in the lake. Sat down at the bar and there was no acknowledgement from the bartender for roughly 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, she let us know that she would be right with us. After 15 minutes she had still not taken our order. We ended up leaving. I do not recommend going to the bar here, find somewhere else where you can actually get service. read more

I would give it zero stars if I could. I used to live in Anchorage and this was one of the two nicest hotels in the area, after the Cook. Wow has it changed. This is now a 2 star hotel at best. It's rundown and dirty. Bathroom has black mold. Tub does not drain. Staff are rude. They have a sign at front lobby and in restaurant saying it closes at 10. No where does it say you cant order food after 930. We got there one minute late and they would not serve us, even though we knew exactly what we wanted. Why post a time that is incorrect. What a dump! At $400 a night, I expect much more. At the very least, I expect nice friendly staff. Not here! read more

Cute hotel very close to the airport and on the water. Rooms were comfy and the decor is very Alaska. The restaurant is really good. The seafood chowder and caprese salad was amazing. This was disappointing. Given the fact it's a 3-star hotel and we were hoping for a little luxury after camping in Denali, the Lakefront didn't live up to expectations at all. The staff were unfriendly at the front desk and incompetent in the restaurant (they seemed to forget we were waiting for a table). Then there were several problems with the room: toiletries were missing, the A/C was loud and couldn't cool the room lower than 77 degrees, the bed and towels were left untidy, the bath was tiny and warped at the bottom, the shower barely got hot enough. The room didn't feel private - we were on the bottom floor with a view of this weird walkway, which had a fair amount of foot traffic - and it basically felt like the cleaners did a rush-job. To top it off, we were disturbed at 10 pm by someone stopping by to "do a room check"(?!). This hotel is fine if you're looking for a 2-star hotel with a decent bar, because that's honestly all it is. I guess they justify their prices with their convenient location and views of the lake, but we've paid the same for 4-star hotels. I appreciated the free shuttle service to downtown Anchorage, but didn't think the overall experience worth the money. read more

My husband and I recently visited Anchorage and was highly recommended to stay at lakefront hotel. We really enjoyed our rooms with comfortable beds! Due to our flight home being so late in the night, we decided to extend our stay one night so we didn't have to spend all night sitting in the airport. I am 6 months pregnant and wanted to stay comfortable. The night before our original checkout we were quoted $99 for the night and that was with a military discount. Due to calling so late, we couldn't officially book our extra night until the next day. Next morning, we came down to concierge and they were happy to help us extend our night. The lady at the front desk who helped us, told us our military quite of $99 was no longer available and the only available rate was $118. I wasn't thrilled with them not honoring the quote that we were given but i didn't want to fuss over a few extra dollars. She ran our Visa card and while processing she started to laugh at the computer screen and said the rate of $118 was actually not available because she booked us for a different date in a different month! So our rate for the night was $149... come on!! She refused to honor the $99, or the $118 now. I was absolutely furious feeling used and taken advantage of. We were already settled with this hotel for the weekend and I just paid the price of $149 but I am not happy and the concierge knew it and didn't even apologize. As a military family, we will never return here! Absolutely upset and disappointed at our end stay. read more

I would give this place a higher rating but one factor was rather upsetting Our room was part of a package deal. The layout of the hotel is rather odd, If you have a room in the higher _ _ 40's beware. It is the longest walk we've ever had to make to get to our room. At least 7 turns and 5 long hallways..... we felt as if we were in the Twilight Zone. The room itself was clean and nice enough---no views of the waterfront; just another building. The a/c worked; even though it wasn't hot outside it felt stuffy without it. The room came with two comfy queen beds, a desk, an overstuffed chair and an HD (?) tv that was unnecessarily too complicated to use. Their were two separate sinks with mirrors (both outside the bathroom) which I really liked. The service staff (housekeepers, waiters/servers, shuttle drivers, bellhops, gift shopkeepers) were all very pleasant. Most of the front desk staff was friendly. There were a couple of front desk staff that were rather frosty. There is a computer and printer in the lobby for printing your boarding passes. The airline icons are conveniently on the desktop screen. The airport shuttle is free. We were lucky to have no wait from the airport or the hotel. Both drivers we had were friendly and helpful. The airport is 5-10 minutes away. Minus two stars for the cavernous walk to our room and the couple of frosty front desk staff. read more

I've been coming to the Millennium for ten years. I like the location and the basic layout of the hotel - it is probably the best of the airport hotels in terms of facilities - but it has consistently been medicore due to staff issues. However, I have overlooked the poor service since I like the basic facility and I am generally just using the place as a stopover. However, I have had occassion to visit the hotel twice in the last week on trips in and out of Anchorage, and it has gone from underwhelming to really disappointing. I assume it is a management issue - but at least half of the staff I have encountered have had a "the customer is a big annoyance" attitude. This is sad because there are certainly a dedicated few who do a good job, but I have found that overall the place feels as if it is just not being managed. A few examples: When I checked in they had lost my reservation - and were actually mad at me they had screwed up. One of the members of my party called twice for the airport transport - and finally took a cab after 45 minutes when it didn't arrive. When their laundry took all my change and I complained - they said they were out of quarters and rudely suggested I go somewhere else to get change. I went to the gift shop - spent five dollars to get some extra quarters - and they also hassled me about getting extra change - saying "get it from the front desk". My party had a very weird interaction with a young security guard who actually seemed a bit mentally imbalanced. Two hours ago I spoke to the concierge who promised a quick return call - and I am still waiting. Overall, the place is also getting pretty run down; dirty old carpeting, big scratches on the walls, the wi fi doesn't work, and the movie system on the television seems like it is right out of the 1960's. I am suprised the Millennium would allow one of their properties to be so poorly run. read more

Not the worst hotel I've ever been in, but for being called the "Millennium Hotel" they sure as hell are operating like they're in the last one. When I go to a hotel I'm looking for 3 major things: 1.) Free Wireless Internet - in the year 2009 if a hotel doesn't provide you with wireless internet for free they're ripping you off. 2.) Free continental breakfast - Seriously, how can this not be standard? 3.) Proximity to my main destination. Millennium Hotel failed miserably on 1 and 2. 3 they got lucky with, but overall I was very unhappy with my stay at the Millennium Hotel. The building was old and it seemed like they weren't really keeping up with the maintenance that well either. This is a hotel for old people. read more

I love the patio, but the food has got to improve. I see that they'll still have business because of the location, lake view hotel, etc. but I'd hang out there so much more if the food would improve. I have tried just about everything on the menu and nothing is really that good. Even the burgers are not so great. I'll go intermittently to see if things have improved. If so I'll be there more often. If not then I'll just grill at my float slip or go to pipers. The service is usually pretty slow as well. Would be nice if things improved. read more

Overall, a very nice experience and a nice and unusual place given the location near the airport. We got a great deal. The hotel was fine and enjoyed the staff. We ate at the restaurant and found it to be solid. This is also a major spot for Cruisers that do the land-sea thing so we did see a lot people and had some traffic. We also arrived on the weekend where the Lakefront was having its annual "Bacon Festival" (I'm pretty sure that's what it was. The major downside there was that they allowed the entire parking lot to be taken up rather than ensuring there was guest parking. This created a significant issue for us. They were sort of apologetic but it didn't change the fact that we had to find alternative parking for six hours. read more

What the what? I don't get the negative reviews at all! I named my own price and got this hotel, and was worried when I read the reviews. But lo and behold, it was perfectly nice! The hotel is really close to the Anchorage airport and behind it was a large lake that seaplanes arrive and depart from. They had free shuttles to pick us up from the airport, as well as to and from downtown. It was about a 4 mile journey downtown. The rooms are really spacious and had TWO sinks. It was really convenient for the two of us! They had a mini fridge as well, and a coffee maker. Internet WiFi was free too! The beds were comfy, a little soft but that was ok. The people who worked there were super friendly! Right across the street was Budget car rental. It was just a convenient location. There were restaurants in walking distance too. Oh and if you miss the free shuttle, there's a bus stop less than a block away that takes you downtown. Beware though, the bus station that it stops at in downtown isn't the safest place! We were told that meth addicts hang out there. Anyway, I loved this hotel and would recommend it to anyone! read more

This place has received some rough reviews and I can't figure out why? My experience was wonderful! They checked me in easily and quickly. The people at the front desk were all polite and welcoming. My room was gorgeous, very clean, and warm. The bed was enormous and the mattress was insanely comfy. High thread count sheets for sure. Douglas, the concierge, was really friendly and helpful! He helped me find a great excursion and went out of his way to get me everything I needed. I would definitely stay here again. The only thing I would caution is that the elevators are really old and scary. Take the stairs! Also, the restaurants are seriously overpriced and the food is meh. Close to the airport, also right next to the lake where small pontoon planes are constantly taking off and landing. I mean directly over the place! Kinda noisy. I prefer the Captain Cook Hotel downtown. Rooms are adequate, although the layout of the place is odd. It's as if additions were tacked on willy-nilly, with no regard for continuity. The lobby is full of dead animals, if you like that sort of thing. The Flying Machine Restaurant is great. Good food, good service. The Fancy Moose Lounge also serves food, same kitchen of course. Friendly servers and stiff drinks. Prices are typically Alaskan-high. read more

I stayed here for 5 nights and am checking out today; I just can't stand it anymore. We had the executive suites, so the room is larger but isn't a true "suite" in that its just a big studio room with a couch and dining area. There is a microwave and mini fridge which is nice. The furniture is dated and worn, but fairly comfortable. That's where the niceties of this hotel end, however. The bathroom is tiny for such a big room, single sink, stand up shower. It is impossible to have a towel on the floor and close the door to the bathroom, yet the layout of the bathroom is such that you cannot close the shower door unless this door is closed (or wide wide open). There are two connecting doors for the other rooms on each side and they are very thin and not secure; I have had people try to break into our room at all sorts of different hours (possibly because they think this flimsy door is a closet?) We happened to be here for Mother's Day and because I didn't want to eat breakfast with the Mothers Day crowd, I called for Room Service. They did not answer for an hour, then when we inquired from the Front Desk they informed us that they had suspended Room Service for that particular breakfast. When I sick and called Room Service a couple days later for breakfast, I received my order (minus my drinks which showed an hour later), but when I called again for dinner, I was informed that "they had suspended Room Service for the summer season." This inconsistency was incredibly frustrating. The restaurant onsite on the lake had a beautiful view, but I'm rather glad I wasn't hungry or in a rush as it took 45 minutes to get my appetizers, and 30 minutes to get a glass of water. It wasn't very affordable, either, but I was definitely paying for a view and some unseasonably good weather I suppose. I feel for about $200+/night I could have gotten a much better deal. read more

Ok, I booked this place cause the website looked great and the price was just under 100$ a night. Then I stumbled over some reviews and got a little scared especially cause I booked a room at a good rate that didn't allow for refunds. First thing I did was look for bed bugs. None at all, second I did a smell test, Room smelt fine and was really clean! The bathroom was clean no mildew at all. We really loved staying here. The price was great, the room was clean and the location was excellent. The bed was comfy and the pillows were excellent! To top it off we were scheduled to check in at 3pm but arrived at 8am jet lagged and very cold and we just wanted to sleep before we started our adventures. Staff was so great they allowed a very early check in no problems at all. Not to mention the lake is gorgeous. I would stay here again and I recommend it to anyone who is debating on it. The lobby is also very cozy. There's free parking and finding a spot to park is a breeze. Love this place. read more

The restaurant was so not good! We were there the start of the season. I'm not going to comment on service cuz the guy was new and nervous. The food menu was hotel menu of years home by. Lots of fish and meat. Very little veggies. There were 9 of us. No one was particularly intrigued with what they got, especially for the price. After 10 days of restaurant food, nothing seemed appealing. I ordered rice pilaf and veggies as my meal. It came out cold. It did get thrown in the microwave but was still cold. The rice was not cooked. To make matters worse, we watched beautiful sandwiches and fries go by. Then wished we had sat in the bistro. I wouldn't go back. After having a long drive and an upset at the hotel we originally had reservations at , this hotel and staff were AMAZING. This was our second time staying and we were able to get an amazing discount due to the issues we had at the inlet hotel down the street. Traveling with my husband, mother , six year old and newborn, the room was comfortable, beds were amazing and the room was very clean. Also we received a free breakfast voucher at their restaurant in the hotel which also had amazing staff and food with a nice view of the lake. When we travel to anchorage, this is the hotel we will continue to choose every time. Also shout out to front desk Lee for helping us! read more

This was a clean hotel, but honestly was a bit over-hyped. Without discounts, it is normally pretty expensive for a busted A/C control...and a window AC unit. We had 4 in our party, and the double bed option were "Double beds" not queens. In hind sight, I would have rather stayed at the Long House Alaskan Lodge just up the road.... Their food at the restaurant was also a bit over priced....but it was good. Sitting inside with the doors open letting in the mosquitoes was a bit of let down...but If you are used to classy amenities...this place is one of the better places that Anchorage has to offer (from what I can tell); however, you should set your expectations that this is not the same as a hotel in most major cities...most likely due to the traditional extreme weather. read more

I've had the thanksgiving and easter buffets here when i lived in Anchorage and they were always delicious! The hotel sits right on lake hood and has a wonderful view of float planes taking off and landing. The regular dinner menu is just okay, but i strongly recommend the 2 holiday brunches if you're in town. As for the hotel rooms, they're clean and decent, nothing spectacular. I think the reason i view this place so highly is for the holiday meals and the fact that I lived close by when I lived in Anchorage. read more

I was super excited about my reservations here. However, this excitment was quickly lost upon arrival. Front desk staff was not friendly, and none of the rooms have views. You can either get a room overlooking the parking lot/main road or the back service road/houses littered with 'stuff'. The lake was only visible from the bar/restaurant location, however, there was a huge tent popped up that was blocking that view during my stay. I walked outside every morning for 4 days in hopes of catching a glimpse of a seaplane departing/landing, but did not see one. I was also expecting a nice walking trail around the lake, this was not the case. The rooms were spacious and clean. I loved the windows that opened to allow the cool air in. The on-site bar, coffee shop, and restaurant were also a very nice addition. My expectations were set too high on this hotel, leaving me disappointed, and looking for another place to stay on my next visit to Anchorage. read more

DO NOT stay at this hotel!!! The worst hotel experience I've ever had. We paid over $300 for ONE night and during booking reserved a lake view. We arrive and are told there are no rooms with a lake view. So we say whatever and accept our room key. We go to our room and it's got a view of an older homes trashy backyard, a huge tree, and a heater with a million bugs around it and it's a 1/2 window. The room itself was not nice or acceptable either so I decide we paid way too much for this lowsy room and terrible customer service so ask for a refund. The manager Tina agreed to refund us-20 minutes after leaving we receive a 2nd charge for the same room that we just left!!! Everything is being refunded but HORRIBLE experience!! read more

I stayed at the Millenium Alaskan twice on business, and both visits have been exceptional. I never had a better hotel experience in Anchorage. They must be striving to keep their hotel thriving since it has been the official hotel of the Iditarod for quite some time now. That's a bragging right I'd hate to spoil. The lobby, while dimly lit with a rustic feel, did not feel stuffy at all. The rooms, from my experience, were always immaculate. They actually had a homey vibe. In the bathroom, a vent fan with built-in heater and nightlight was a surprise creature comfort. One gripe I have about the hotel is the layout. It's long and somewhat narrow, and the main entrance is at one end so if your room is at the other end of the building you're in for a hike. Fortunately there are access doors near the other end that guests can enter with their room keycard. Also on the upside, there is ample parking space. Another gripe was I had to pay for wireless internet access, but that could have changed. The Millenium Alaskan is also an ideal venue for wedding receptions, conferences, and company parties. Their catering service is the only option for food in events, and although the meals I had there were enjoyable, they were a little on the bland side. Free airport shuttle service and close proximity to the airport are two more reasons the Millenium deserves a high rating. read more

I stay here quite often. It certainly is an upgrade to the ghetto I used to stay at across the street. I think the new management/ownership is an improvement from previous. They are lacking in the continental breakfast that is offered from all the other hotels in the area. If managment ok'd it I would be at the Holiday Inn Express in a heartbeat just because of the breakfast offered. Like I said, it is an upgrade to what I was used to and the rooms aren't really bad (limited tv station variety) and would still recommend. read more

First strike: I called the Lakefront Anchorage thinking I was calling the local hotel phone. It turns out you cannot do this. You get a third party reservation booking company who knows where. I booked for one night because I had an early flight in the morning for Eastern Europe. Ipaid $110 but my credit card bill was $151.53. I got charged immediately and for miscellaneous charges like calling the hotel. Second strike: My entire trip got cancelled due to CV19. I called the hotel to cancel and request a refund due to CV19. I received an emIl from some group I never heard of. Nothing happened so I called again. This time the person told me the request to cancel never got placed. I said I would also like to have a refund or at a least a comp at a later date. Strike 3: I received several electronic emails stating my request would be handled. The last email said due to heavy volume my request would be handled within 7 days. Still waiting. No answer. Nada. This used to be a great hotel for locals to stay when in town and a fun place to meet for drinks, food, and meetings due to proximity to airport. Nope! It is just another conglomerate hotel with no customer service and over priced costs. read more

Just back from a week staying at the Lakefront. I enjoyed a first class experience from check-in to check-out. Staff was always available and helpful. In house restrurants/bar were great, food good, service good. Housekeeping was first class, changing bed and towels even when not needed. Room was warm even when negative temps outside. Shower water was just right, not cold. Free bus service to downtown was great, driver Steve is FANTASTIC! I will stay here again without question. read more

Just OK----But I think you're trying.... Here on work travel (and play too since I came all the way from Wash DC). Great location--seconds from the airport, minutes to Downtown Anchorage, easy access to get onto TurnAgain Arm to heads towards Seward (for cruises--see my write up on Kenai Fjords Tours). Reading some of the earlier postings, I think the hotel is trying to renovate. The carpet was old and dingy but the bedding was nice with the typical white down comforting you'd except in any nice hotel these days. Granite counter tops on the bath sinks, decent size room, clean bathroom--a little aged but clean. Has old box TV's---flat screens are a must these days! The lobby needs a major makeover--many stuffed dead animals and feels like a Moose Lodge from the 80s. Didnt like either restaurant and chose not to eat here at all. Never made it past the bad menu's. Ive had way better and way worse. I could stay here again but would probably try something else next time. Id say keep up the renovating Millennium and you could get there. Its tolerable. read more
