Air conditioner barley hanging on to the wall, It's cleaning Caulking and paint

OMG...??? Why didn't I believe the reviews? Property is in need of a full restoration. Top to bottom side to side the only thing positive I can say is that the bartenders tried really hard. From filthy, dirty, dusty, floors to the curtains, towels, displays in the lobby. Take the advice and look elsewhere. Many lights/TV/outlets throughout the property didn't work. No TV for us tonight... Definitely ok to drink at the bar but don't bother to order food. Both the beef and salmon were way over cooked and took 45 mins to arrive. $40.00 plate of salmon cooked to shoeleather! I could go on and on but from the min we were picked up at the train station, in the pouring rain, where the driver did not say a single word to us, didn't help is w our bags or even close the van door, to the front desk gal at almost midnight who would not give us extra coffee. We fell for the outdated or AI pictures on line. Bad us to pay this much and regret most of it. Note to manager: you may not be able to trigger a renovation but you certainly can train your staff to be nice to the customers & clean the common areas. Give them some Authority to throw away towels with holes in them and take down the curtains to send out for dry cleaning when appropriate. Darn it! Bad 2 days at the Lakefront Hotel .

I could see how this hotel might have been nice back in the day, but could use a major face lift now. It smells a little musty upon walking into the lobby and shows its age all the way to the rooms. Our room had a weird Murphy bed thing happening and it was pretty uncomfortable. We had breakfast in the hotel and it was pretty good.

Coffe in glass mug! Love this as this is how I partake in coffee in my home. Great to see this in a restaurant.

No complaints. Good was cooked well and serving served zero was good. The Service was Amazing the gentleman that served us was Very Attentive this was impressive as it appeared he was the only one for a while.

    The $691.20 hotel charge.

Please stay away. I stayed here 5 nights that were covered by Mountain Aviation (Wheel Up) charter plane company. I presented my credit card for incidental. After I checked out something told me to check my credit card, they charged $681.20 for two nights. I called and was given the run around. The one person Chris tried to help with no prevail. I reached out to the managers to see if I could get the change reversed but are not there and don't return messages. Please check your credit card after leaving this place. I will avoid this hotel from now on. Stay at your own risk!

    "Lake" view with construction area
    Ruth G.

We liked the room. It had an old school spring type mattress which was very comfortable. It was cozy and well insulated so we were never cold. We enjoyed breakfast downstairs one day and would have gone back but there were so many options nearby that we were not able to. We arrived early and were able to check in early. It was on the expensive side but so was everything in the area. The parking lot was treacherously icy but that seems the norm around here. We requested a lake view and basically overlooked a construction site. So...it was expensive and basically fine but if you're looking for seamless luxury you might look downtown.

Large lobby with taxidermy. Welcome to Alaska!

If taxidermy is how you roll you're going to love The Lakefront Anchorage hotel. I imagine a time when this hotel was the crème de la crème example of luxury. Rich dark wood, open common spaces, examples of wildlife throughout. Quintessential Alaska in a way that's almost shoved down your throat...tacky kitsch is evident. Suitable for an overnight stay if you can get past the small details of wear and tear: chipped furniture, carpet stains, tired and dusty displays, corners in desperate need of some elbow grease. Lakefront doesn't necessarily mean "lake view", likely another couple hundred dollars to see water from your room, but I'm not certain a view of the lake would change my opinion. Service good enough, restaurant food won't blow your hair back. It rained on our visit which actually helped the colors outdoors pop to life - probably spring time would be lovely. In better weather a stroll on the deck and a glass of something delicious would have kicked up the visit. After a long flight and an early train the following morning this airport hotel was good enough for overnight and a meal.

Ask the Community - The Lakefront Anchorage

Can anyone tell me if there are any activities (e.g. hiking trails, parks, etc) within walking distance of the hotel? I won't have a car and am wondering about getting around while there.

Not much in my experience except a walk around Lake Hood to watch float planes. This hotel is mostly for layovers.

As I walked through the lobby and in the elevators I was taken aback by how outdated this place was. This was especially apparent in the elevator with the gaudy faux gold hand rails and the smelly outdated carpet. It felt 1980's for sure! The room was average at best. I did have lunch and dinner at their restaurants and was very disappointed except for one (I will drop reviews on those restaurants). I love the history. But it's not enough for me to pay top dollar for an average hotel room. I will not be coming back.

As soon as you walk in you can see the restaurant in the lobby. Free WiFi and mobile keys. You can check in within the app do you don't need to check in with front desk at all. Thankful for the concierge Emerson. He was a rock star. After a red eye flight, he found an empty room and gave me a REALLY EARLY check in time. He was a huge help and super friendly. Very thankful for him. The only odd thing about the room was the mini fridge in the corner of the room haha. I don't mind it especially for a small town like Anchorage. The room isn't super modern however like I said, it is a small town.

A really odd experience here…read more The lobby looks great! And our room wasn't bad either, but you can certainly tell they are trying to remodel. Or I'm praying that's what's going on here. Our furniture didn't really make sense, the mini fridge was sitting outside and across the room from where it would/will eventually be placed. And the table with a drawer was butted up against the couch so you couldn't open the drawer. Not like I would anyway...but it was a bit disorganized. First off, our phone didn't work. None of the numbers worked to call, anywhere. I couldn't get a hold of the front desk, or house keeping. So when we needed to ask for something we had to go all the way down to the front desk. Which was annoying. The gym! Wow. We were decently impressed with the gym. They have a Peloton, Concept 2 rower, and a few treadmills. They had yoga mats, towels, and a water dispenser. And all with a great view! When we went back later that night though...everything was gone. We followed the signs to the Fitness Center on the 5th floor but when we got to that floor every room door was open with the beds disheveled and no one was there. The signs led us to nowhere. It was the weirdest thing. So yet again, another trip to the front desk and she said the gym was closed for the night and was being relocated elsewhere and would open in the morning. You have to pay for parking to park in their unguarded lot. It's $25 a day. Breakfast isn't great. And while you get $15 a person as a resort credit to use on food...breakfast is $28.95 a person. I honestly wouldn't pay any money for this breakfast unless you are desperate. It's not worth it. Long story short. We would never stay here again and I would recommend you stay away as well.
