The landing is a pretty cool place, but my experience is really divided here. Everyone knows you come for the fishbowls. They have a huge list of options and they come in sizes from a small "guppy" bowl to a literal fishtank. Needless to say, it makes for a great time with a group of friends if, and this is my disclaimer, if you can find anywhere to rest your giant fishtank. In The Landing's defense, it is great for them that they are apparently always packed, but not so great for me. There is not table service, so sometimes you can luck out with an opening from some chumps who went to the bar. Overall, definitely a fun experience. Be prepared to smell a lil bit of fish and hear a lil bit of ferry horns - whatdaya expect?! Get nice and sauced and go look at the seals outside the aquarium - they love it. read more

This is a pretty happening spot and fab patio bar, popular with tourists and Bostonians alike. Anyplace you can get a shared drink in a fishbowl with neon colored straws, makes it pretty special in my book. This was a stop on a bar crawl planned by my two daughters for my 60th. All of the stops but one were located somewhere on the Boston water front and at 4 pm on a summer Saturday, the Landing was packed. I went here after getting out of work early one day during the week and it was perfect. It wasn't too busy so I could get a seat easily under one of the umbrella tables to relax. Stopped here before taking a Boston Harbor Cruise tour. We were visiting from Minnesota and got to chat with some of the bartenders and sit at the bar for awhile. It was a little chilly/rainy outside so it was very busy, but the bartender said on most Fridays there a line down the street to get it so be aware! Mostly a 22-27 year old crowd and everyone goes there for Coronas! I still don't quite understand why Coronas are so popular there, but the bartender said they sell the most in the city. The landing has always been a great time and an awesome spot to go to...... I've always been a fan.However this Saturday (8/17) I did not feel this way. I don't want to say names however one of the bartenders made this experience negative. He thought he was "being cool" and it resulted in him being more concerned about getting attention from females rather than serving than the overall performance of the business. He valued his relationship with the females rather than serving the people that waited In line for over 20 minutes. I understand that being a young bartender can arise Attention however when it becomes more of a priority than responsibly of the job, there has to be repercussions or at least arise some concern from the people. As a result I had to leave due to the fact that the bartender not only made my girlfriend more than uncomfortable but refused to serve myself along with the group I was with because we were males. Im not the one to express this opinion however I truly felt discriminated against and I truly am disappointed that I had to write this review because up until this experience, I've always had a great time at the landing. If you do not acknowledge this I will honestly be surprised. I hope we can communicate further upon this matter so this issue will not be brought up again to any other paying customer. read more

I really do love this spot and the bartenders are super nice. The only reason I gave it one star is because when I went into my bank account I noticed I was charged more then what was on my receipt. When I called to let a manager know the phone number only goes to the cruise booking office and no one knew who was in charge of the outside bar or how to get in touch with anyone. Went here on a Friday night with my girlfriend. Tried to get in and the bouncer wouldn't let us in. We are both 21 and he looked at our ID's and Vax cards which are both real and legit and sent us away. The hostess was confused and didn't know what to say to us as we both were confused as well. This is a really cool place if you love outdoor bars. Located right on Long Wharf literally next to the water and across the way from the Aquarium. The bar is 100 percent outside...there is NO inside. Really great for beautiful days/nights and just an all around fun atmosphere. Drinks are tasty and fairly priced. Everyone is friendly--from the staff to the crowd--there is just a 'good mood' feeling here. My only real criticism is the fact that they don't stay open late. I was meeting friends from Ohio here and was only able to stay for half a drink before they closed...the half my gay hotty didn't finish. Before I knew it, the straightys were shuttling us along to the bars that were still open in the financial. Went there last monday. The service was not poor it was non exsistant. We sat at the bar for a good 15 minutes. Made eye contact with both male bartenders, who stood on the opposite side of the bar talking and I believe "sampling" beer. Who knows regardless this is the first place Ive ever just got up and left from because of not even being acknowledged as a customer. The bar also smelt like hell! Sticky with beer. Too bad because it would attract more people during slow times if they'd clean up every once and a while and staffed decent bar tenders. If i could give 0 stars I would. Go literally anywhere else. This is kind of a weird place. No real bathrooms, no food. Essentially, it's like a beach bar in the middle of Boston. It does have some nice views and a typical (young, kind of douchey) after work crowd. Draft beer is $6.25 per plastic cup which is kind of a rip off and the tunes are blasting. Long story short, it was relaxing to be outside sipping a beer, not so relaxing to feel like I was at a frat party in college. So take from that what you will. read more

When I was a fresh faced recruiter, new to Boston, working my butt off in the financial district, I used to love the landing. My team and I would go here after work on sunny days and sit on the patio and have a few expensive drinks and all would be well. I've been to the Landing a few times recently as an adult, had have left disappointed. First, at age 34, I think I was probably the oldest person there last time I went on a weekday. This place is definitely for the younger crowd. It's hard to find a place to sit on the week days unless you go very early in the day. Drinks are overpriced. The beer list is small. There are always a lot of bros there. The only time I'd go back at this point is during a weekend in the middle of a sunny day before it gets crowded. read more

Nice place to hang out when the weather is warm in Boston. The space is small and there are limited food options. The sugary fishbowls are a guaranteed hangover and the margaritas are cringingly sour. Nonetheless, the location overlooks the water and they sell buckets of beer- can't beat that! Went to have a few drinks on Monday, very slow with plenty of staff. Ordered first round of drinks, after the first round of drinks didn't see the server again. We had to go up to bar and order next round of drinks. After waiting 40 minutes for our bill we had to go to bar to check out. The owner/manager and one of his staff were more interested in flirting with a woman in black dress then ensuring his patrons were being served. Apparently business is sooo good for them during this covid mess that flirting with one customer rather than paying attention to paying customers isn't necessary. There were two other tables near by that had paying customers that didn't get served beyond first drink too. Highly recommend going to other establishments that need your business rather than this one that ignores its customers. read more

Oh, where to begin....my recent experience at The Landing was so unfortunate that it prompted me to post my first Yelp review. The only reason I gave it two stars (instead of 1) was to avoid this review from appearing overly negative and in effort to prevent it from being filtered out. My boyfriend and I arrived at the Landing last weekend after enjoying a harbor river cruise. After showing our IDs to an expressionless bouncer, we saddled up to the bar to order a few drinks. We immediately noticed a formidable scent, prompting us to discuss the odor with the bartender. He kindly apologized, stating it was most likely from the harbor itself and out of the Landing's control. We ordered a pail (x4) of beer and attempted to enjoy them at the bar though the smell became so overpowering that we could not tolerate it. The bartender suggested we move to one of the tables on the patio to get further away from the odor. And this is where our experience turned sour. As soon as we sat down at a table, we were approached by a short, female waitress with long brown hair held back in a ponytail with slightly heavy build. She immediately chastised us, in a long-winded barrage, for bringing our beers to the table. She apparently did not notice the bartender directing us to this area, probably because she was preoccupied chatting with the other female waitress on the other side of the bar instead of doing her job. After she informed us "that's what we're (waitresses) are here for" she quickly turned around and headed back to her coworkers at the bar without even allowing me to explain to her that the bartender had sent us over to this area! At this point, my bf and I were so appalled by her unprofessional behavior that we certainly would not have given her any business. However, it is noteworthy to report that she (nor the other waitress) did not approach us again to check us if we wanted anything else to drink or perhaps to eat. We sat there for at least 30 minutes, the last 5 of which we were without beverages. It's a shame because the landing is situated in a prime location; however, over the years (beginning ~2005), I typically have received sub par services. The Landing is perfect for a summer afterwork drink, or an early Saturday Afternoon coctail on a nice day especially when you just can't bring yourself to deal with the circus that is Tia's next door... There's not much to this place. It's a mix of hotel patrons, tourists, and locals killing some time or just enjoying hte day outside under the square bar's overhang, and the large patio abutting it and the Boston Harbor Ferry pier. Beers are reasonably priced and the outdoor atmosphere is as casual as it gets, which is perfect in my book. I love the Landing as it offers convenience to my office, yet leaves the Financial District behind and doesnt' stray too far from the T. More importantly, it keeps me away from the bowels of Fanueil Hall. Yech! read more

I've gone to the landing a bunch of times in the past and really enjoyed myself, which is why I was excited to see they reopened during Phase 2 of Boston's COVID response. I was looking forward to visiting a fun and safe environment, however I was disappointed to find their staff taking the matter less than serious. Our server was a young guy who didn't seem to care about making their customers uncomfortable by wearing his mask below not only his nose but his mouth too. We were there for over an hour and he never corrected the mask to properly cover his face. It made me think twice about supporting their business as it seems they don't make the safety of their customers a priority. I will not be going back anytime soon. read more

New and (sorta) improved! The Landing is now remodeled and bigger. Same drinks, same random tunes but with more staff and a bigger area with more tables and a larger bar. And a bigger crowd. Yes, this bad does attract what we call the "Yeah-Dudes,. These are 20-something guys in their blue button downs and khakis, still shell shocked from life outside their frat house and fresh from a long day at their just-above-entry-level jobs. They are most identifiable by their propensity to begin every sentence with "Yeah, Dude." You can only hope they grow out of it. But hey, places to drink al fresco in Boston, particularly on the harbor, aren't exactly commonplace. I can tolerate a few tedious people for one season a year for that. read more

First stop of the night on a Saturday evening, and I'm glad it was! The Landing was the perfect place to enjoy the breezy summer weather right by the water, with some GREAT oldschool music blasting all throughout. There was no wait, and seemed to go through phases of being SUPER packed, to dwindling down, then getting packed again, but then again, that's typical of any bar. The waitress was good with all our orders, and making sure everyone had their drinks, I was impressed seeing that she was seeing so many tables at once! We got one of the fish bowls, and it was definitely much sweeter than other cocktails, but it was a great amount for three girls...I was feeling pretty buzzed after finishing it! My only complaint was that the tables were really sticky, and the bathrooms (public ones next to the bar) was really gross. However, they were playing some old school 90s music, with a mix of some top 100 billboard music too, so I honestly had a blast. The ambiance was splendid, the service was also fantastic, and nothing super special about the drinks, but they were fine! I definitely want to go again before Boston winter hits us. read more

We came here for Patrick's welcome home party. We were expecting a bigger crowd but only two of us showed up. I felt bad, so I suggested that we sit outside and look at all the boats and get a fish bowl, but Gster shot down the idea. They got the corona bucket, and I got some fruity blue drink. It was wayyyyy too sugary. The Landing is the perfect spot to meet for drinks, watch a game, and sit outside and people watch. Or have a welcome home party. It will be crowded (Except for our group), but why go to a bar and not be with other people? It has beautiful views, fun drink options, and enjoy the ocean and the city at the same time. I would suggest sticking with beer, or the fish bowl, cus the mixed drinks are pure sugar and alchohol! That is a recipe for a hangover! Our waitress was really nice, and even said they can make the mixed drinks with 1/2 sugar 1/2 something else so its not as bad. I think she was more excited about Patrick's welcome home than the rest of us, if you know what I mean! I never understand when I go here if there are servers/cocktail waitresses for the tables or if you order from the bar and find a seat. It is super fun to sit on the Wharf with a bucket of beers with friends. Service is slow (both at table and long line to go up and order drinks). The atmosphere is the best part. Prices are similar to other bars in the area. Bonus that you can bring the puppy with you!! Food options/choices are slim. read more

The fishbowls here are so fun! I've never had one before and I was not disappointed. We got the sunrise something, it's basically a piña colada. It's sweet but so good! I would consider this an iconic outdoor drinking place. It's right on the wharf, on a dock, with majority of it being outdoors. The fish bowls were the first reason we came here cause friends recommended it and they're so good. I think the huge straws make them more fun as well, and gentlemen don't think anyone is judging your masculinity by drinking a bright blue drink out a large straw cause they're not, everyone is doing it. The fish bowls can be sweet so you definitely have to like sweet drinks cause they're made of some combo of vodka sprite and grenadine maybe? But if you're in the mood for that I definitely recommend them. I've never had the food here but I assume it's your average seafood, waterfront fare. I suggest coming here early before the work crowd gets here because it can get packed and tables can be scarce. Oh and be prepared to be carded multiple times because the bathrooms are outside of the little chained in seating area. This place was awful. I went with a group of friends on a Friday night. They let most of our party in and then left 3 of us to waiting 'in line'. The 'bouncers' were on power trips and let some people in and not others. There was plenty of room in the place, and we were never told why we couldn't go in, even after asking. Other people just hopped the chain fence and that seemed to be ok... And they close at 11 on a Friday.. Don't waste your time at this place if its crowded. read more

Because...who doesn't want to drink at an outdoor bar on the waterfront?! I've been here a couple times, most recently on a Tuesday after work. Great place to meet up with friends for post-work drinks and enjoy beautiful weather and people watching. I've sat at the bar and also at a table. It's a nice spot for groups - we had about 7 people in our group and we easily snagged a table and enough chairs for everyone. You can't beat the buckets of Corona - $30 for 6 Coronas. Sure, you can buy a 6-pack at the store for a third of that price, but it's about atmosphere and friends, right?! I can't speak for the other drinks - there are no prices on the drink menu, but I imagine a cocktail will run you at least $10 here. Definitely check it out if you're looking for an outdoor bar during the summer. Have you ever had a meal with friends where you wound up laughing so hard you couldn't breathe? The Landing is one of the places where, if you go with buddies, you're likely to have that experience. The food is very good, and it's not trying to be anything more than it is - really good seafood and pub food served in an atmosphere that's "Cheers," Boston North Shore edition. I had the wedge salad with lobster, which I *highly* recommend. I also recommend the chowder, which was top-notch. My buddies had steamed lobster and fish'n'chips, which were also apparently outstanding ... 'cause they wouldn't share! We started with fried calamari and fried clams - the calamari had a really superb light tomato sauce alongside that could have stood on its own as a dish. DAMN, that was good. You win the bonus round if you get to have Rory working your table. I think he's part-owner of the place, and is both the soul of perfect service and funny as hell. read more
