Worst dining experience I have ever suffered. We went in with a group of friends for food on July 4th. We were a group of 4 latin foreigners and a local friend from Marblehead. The server signaled out one of our friends and started making racist marks towards him for being latino. We all decided to leave when we realized there was no way to reason with the server and he told us that if we wanted to speak spanish "we should go talk to our people in the kitchen". In all of my time living in Boston I have never felt such blatant and disgusting racism. There are many other great restaurants in Marblehead. I would suggest going to any one of them instead of supporting this racist establishment. read more

Our service today for brunch was outstanding! The servers in our section were mature men of a certain age, and they could not have been more attentive and kind and wonderful! Excellent at their jobs and caring for guests! I had the Noe's Burger which was a bit overcooked, but with all the stuff on it (a mess of caramelized onions, lettuce, tomato, sunny-side up egg and truffle aioli) was delicious nonetheless. If it had the advertised brie on it, I couldn't discern it - it may have been there but its flavor drowned out by the strong truffle taste? It was as messy to eat as you'd imagine, but I enjoyed it. Fries were very good. Dad had a BLT with a fried egg on top. I swear there was 1/2 pound of bacon on it - I tried a piece - delicious! Excellent coffee, too! read more

I didn't expect much and was pleasantly surprised. Our server was informative and excited to go over the menu. The mussels were a very large portion with delicious curry broth and garlic bread to soak it up. The fish sandwich was perfect. Obviously battered and fried to order. We had a reservation for 8 that was made days in advance. When we showed up they had our reservation in their computer but seemed to not be prepared at all. The hostess's (even though the restaurant was not crowded) mind was blown as she looked around trying to figure out how to handle this "surprise". She said we would either have to wait or put us in the back room. The main reason for coming here is the view of the harbor, so we decided to wait and also offered to help move tables to which she declined, which was fine. A few minutes later a manager came over to us and said that we could either sit outside or the back room because that all he's got. Anyway, we ended up sitting outside which would've been good had it not been sprinkling. It was worth it for the view, but I hated feeling like we were a hassle to the hostess and manager. The view was great. The food was mediocre. The clam chowder was more like potato-bacon than clams. The BLT was very good. Fish and chips was good. Corned beef hash was a small portion. If I was coming back to Marblehead, I would choose somewhere different. read more

The interior of the landing has improved so much, since the unfortunate flooding a couple of years ago. It's Light, and modern, and open now. Unfortunately the pub part is only open now for events, but hey, you can't have everything, right? Unfortunately the food is still mediocre. I usually order the open faced steak sandwich, because it looks like it should be one of the best things on the menu, and it never fails that it is always a gristly and tough piece of meat. I went several times last summer and enjoyed it but insisted I wouldn't go back after the manager slammed me on Facebook because I posted pictures of tables that were more like 2.5 feet apart than six. Whatever the distance, we've all seen it. Chairs that are so close together that only a child would be able to get in and out without hitting the person behind them. Anyway, the first time I went last summer, there were only two tables in the main dining area. The manager responded to me they were there because he had no place to put them. Buddy, you had a place to put them before when there were only two tables. This particular time, there were tables on the covered deck that looked closer together than six feet but no as close as the tables near me. He also told me staff were told not to sit people at these tables. Darling, I have no faith in your hostess that day. It was pouring out. I was sitting on the benches outside with no umbrella and since I don't have a car, I couldn't go there to wait out the rain. People waiting for a table were told to wait in their care and the hostess would call when their table was ready. Since I had no car, they let me sit by the bar and the hostess was going to come over to me when my table was ready. Nope. She called when I was maybe 20 feet away from her because she couldn't remember that a customer was sitting at the bar. The point? If a hostess can't make a notation on the waiting list to know I'm at the bar, I don't trust her to remember that she is not supposed to seat people at certain tables. I didn't say any of this on Facebook because I didn't think it would make a difference. Regulars jumped on the bandwagon and made me out to be a harpie. I was supposed to come here with a meetup group with 6 others but instead went to another local restaurant because I didn't want them to have out business. Flash forward to two days ago when I really wanted to spend the time in the outdoor area on the harbor to get the sea breeze on a very hot day and to try the new menu with the new chef. Well, I am definitely not going back. Food was seriously overpriced. They only have a wine menu, none listing soft drinks, beer and cocktails. I was t told refills on iced tea weren't free so I was charged $5.50 for two iced teas. With a nice tip for pretty awesome waiter Maykal. I spent $61 for four clams casino, seafood pasta, banana tart and iced teas. Overpriced for mediocre food. Not impressed with new chef's menu, who btw, is the son of celebrity chef Lydia Shire. And FWIW, didn't have dinner Saturday night so this was all I ate. And I was pretty sick on Sunday. read more

The staff was a joy to work with, creative and willing to think outside the box, happy to find ways to accommodate our ideas, and able to make great suggesstions as well. The Landing Restaurant is alright. We randomly stopped in here after a visit to Bobbles & Lace boutique sent us over to the waterfront. As we were walking we spotted this place and decided to stop for a drink. We started at the bar and moved outside, so that we could have a view the harbor. After we ordered our first drink we asked the bartender if it would be alright for us to move, and he acted like he didn't like the fact that we wanted to sit outside at all. Now, I don't know the reasoning behind this. Maybe it was because we'd be moving our business to a server instead of directly with him. Who knows? But the place was absolutely dead. Other than us there were maybe two other couples at tables (outside) and one solo patron sitting at the bar. The bartender told us we could move if we wanted, but he said if they got busy "at all" they'd take the table from us, since we weren't eating. This was fine and we agreed, but I found it rather rude that he told us that (and the tone he used when he said it) considering that they were not busy *at all.* We sat outside for our first drink and enjoyed the view. We moved back inside for one additional drink and received little to no attention from the bartender. I'm pretty sure this was only because we had asked to move with our first drink, because he was chatting it up with the other patron at the bar. Even though all of our business was handled directly with him and our full tip went to him, as we never ordered anything from the table. We finished our second drink and headed out for more exploration. This spot seemed alright, even though our experience with the bartender wasn't great. If i find myself in the area again I would give it another shot. read more

The waitress was very friendly. My only problem with the service was when the food came out. It took about 5 min total between the first and last dish which was very awkward for us. The drink menu was pretty good with a nice selection of wine and local craft beer. I ordered green head ipa. The menu looked appetizing. Apparently, it's new since reopening after a brutal winter. My only problem there was a lack of brunch options on Sunday around noon. The sign outside advertised brunch! I ordered the clam chowder, which claims to be award winning. We wondered whether the claim was dubious, but the waitress allayed our concerns. In the end, several of us ordered the chowder and we all seemed to enjoy it. It fact, it's one of the better chowders I've had in a long time. Now the big problem: my salmon sandwich was super fishy. In fact, it might be the worst salmon sandwich I've ever had. This needs to be fixed immediately. There's no excuse at a seafood restaurant in such a prime location. A pretty spot down by the water, with a patio right up against the docks. The servers here were all very nice, I think we hit them right as lunch was ramping up, so our waitress had a lot to do, but I didn't have to wait long for a refill even so. The food was only so-so. Maybe we aimed too low, I had the fish sandwich, my dining partner had the hamburger, they have much fancier stuff on the menu and that may be where the best stuff is at. My fish sandwich was far too delicately designed, the breading got soggy, the fish slid around, the fish didn't have much flavor, the sauce on the fish didn't have much flavor, the lettuce was a little too wet which made things worse, and it was two fish fillets on a round bun which didn't compliment the design and allowed everything to fall everywhere. The fish sandwich could use a redesign I guess. The hamburger was good I'm told, nice crispy bacon on top, the sauce added to it, but maybe was expecting a little bit more for the price. Everything on the menu was like +$4 from what it seems like the average around Coastal Massachusetts is. Still a nice location to stop by if you want to eat by the water and the staff all seemed very nice and professional. And looking at the other reviews, the fancier stuff might be the way to go, not the sandwiches. read more

This used to be our favorite restaurant. The staff were like family to us. With the advent of the new "celebrity" chef, everything has gone downhill. The menu is not appealing and it is heavy on fried food. The quality is poor. Today I had a fish sandwich that was a huge disappointment. What our server described as lightly fried was heavy on breading with very thin slices of fish and quite oily. It was impossible to eat as a sandwich The side salad that we substituted for the fries was a small bowl of dressed arugula. That is all - not even a cherry tomato or a cucumber slice to add interest. I really hope that The Landing can return to being a reliably good restaurant. We drove up on a late Sunday morning and the traffic was heavy causing us to be 1/2 hour late for our reservation, I called ahead to let them know. We arrived with 20 minutes to spare, but parking was impossible to find. By the time we found a spot and walked to the restaurant I NEEDED a drink or two!!! Sat outside and started with 2 mimosas that were great. I had the lobster eggs benedict with a bloody mary and it was delicious. My husband had the blueberry ricotta pancakes and loved them. My husand and I stopped in for lunch today....we were lucky to score seats at the bar and service was attentive.....We love the environment here but were disappointed in the quality of the sandwiches we ordered.....I ordered the chicken sandwich and my husband the fish sandwich......because of all the add ons...you literally could not pick up either sandwich....the bottom role was saturated for both sandwiches so it became a knife and fork adventure for both of us...quality of ingredients was nice but we won't be back any time soon.... read more

After reading all the positive reviews, we were excited to try this place. We were very disappointed. Despite having a reservation, they acted surprised we were there. Gave us what I considered the worst table in the restaurant and just told us to sit there. Didn't give us any menus. We waited quite some time and finally asked for menus from what looked like a manager. He was surprised we didn't have any menus either. Our food took forever to get. When I asked the waiter if it was coming soon he said snottily "don't worry.. you'll get it". When the food did come out, all our meals came out at different times. Mine didn't come out at all. The waiter came over to ask if everything was good and I told him the the sandwich he told me not to worry about has never come to the table. Everything seemed under seasoned to all of us. The spicy margarita I ordered wasn't good at all. The French fries were good and the place seems clean and they do offer parking, which is nice. All in all... a thumbs down experience read more

I've been coming to the Landing for years now as it's a Marblehead staple and It's always been pretty consistent. I had brunch with my sister last week and I will first and foremost compliment the staff. The hostess is super friendly, waitstaff great and the GM walks around and checks in with you. This is very rare these days and greatly appreciated. The food is pretty good too, there are certain selections better than others (order seafood or brunch specials)The cocktails are always delish! There have also been some renovations to the bar area which gives it a more contemporary brunch spot feel. I will be back soon read more

DO NOT EAT HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We came to this restaurant because someone recommended the food so we made a reservation with friends and came after a boat party. The place refused to serve us A BEER on July 4th because they deemed we were "drunk". Only later when a guy in my party asked the waiter to speak to the manager he said the manager agreed to serve us all drinks except one of our friends (who is Latino and english is his second language) on the basis of "he can't say July properly". When my friend told the waiter english is his second language and that that's racial profiling he said "go tell your people in the kitchen" implying everyone at the kitchen was latino and therefore that was his people. HORRIBLE experience as we were not causing any problems and yet we still lived this bad experience from a racist waiter. Walked out and left after that. We have since callwd the restaurant and have had people go talk to the owner with no resolution. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!! read more

Ok well, order it and you will be a sangria person. The waitress, Wendy is wholesome and I want to put her in my pocket when I leave. They don't take reservations, but somehow I always end up getting a table....you may be bummed that there's a wait for outdoor dining, but just take the indoor dining and you will still be pleased. We have been going here for years to enjoy the traditional New England seafood dishes. Unfortunately, these are not on the new "improved" menu. Our favorite appetizer was a "Stuffie" - stuffed quahogs. There was nothing like it anywhere else, and now it's gone. The fish and chips , another signature item, was also dropped from the menu and was only available by special request. The new items may add an international flair but a waterside restaurant in Marblehead that doesn't have any haddock dishes on the menu? Crazy. The waitstaff is the absolute best, they treat everyone like an old friend. I'm afraid they are going to suffer the consequences of the changes made, and they deserve better.
