    Fish & Chips (Lunch)
    Cindy O.

Great lunch with a view! We all ordered the Fish & Chips. Very fresh Haddock lightly battered and not too greasy. Paired with a tasty tartar sauce. Nice selection tion of beers and cocktails. There is a parking lot and it fills up quickly. We found a spot amd when we left, a waiting line for parking! Service was excellent. Jason was our server and he checked on us often for drink refills. Definitely a great brunch, lunch, ot dinner spot with a view! We sat out on the patio on a colder day; enclosed witg heaters running. Very comfortable.

Beautiful water front dining with both indoor and outdoor seating, a huge bar and beautiful views. We took advantage of the warm weather and sat outside. Ordered the crab cake sandwich, lobster roll, chowder, salmon and loved it all. Fabulous cocktail menu rounded it all out. We watched the fishermen bring in the fresh catches right off the dock while enjoying the views.

Definitely love coming here to overlook the harbor! Ended up with a crab cake sandwich (thought about the lobster roll but I didn't think I would love it) and definitely enjoyed it. It was a very relaxing lunch and it was nice to get together with friends. I'm happy to go and visit here when Im in Marblehead! My husband spent his younger adult years here and absolutely loved this place!

We were here for an early lunch two Sundays ago. It had been a few years since my last visit which I recalled as having been lovely. When we arrived the combo Sunday brunch and lunch menu was in effect. Since we had been up since the crack of dawn with breakfast long behind us, neither of us was in the mood for brunch/breakfast type food. That said, as many do during brunch we did start with a Bloody Mary each. ;-) They were spicy and quite tasty. Good job on those. I ordered the fish and chips which seems to be my go-to these days. I was not disappointed. The fish was not overcooked which seems to be a problem for some places when they fry fish. The coating was done in what seemed to be a tempura style and so the crust was wonderfully light and not at all greasy. It did not cling to the fish which I like. Delicious, not oily at all and perfectly cooked white fish. The fries were just okay. Tom ordered the burger which came with a gorgeous looking shiny, dark crusted bun and loaded with lettuce, tomatoes and relish and a nicely sized burger. He said it was delicious. It was so hefty it needed to be properly managed by cutting it in half and even then it was a mouthful. We sat on the porch which in warm weather is open sided but now has large clear plastic sheets covering the window area. It had a lovely greenhouse effect and felt cozy. We had a beautiful view of the harbor. I think this would be my preferred space to eat. next visit. Tasty food, nice ambience, helpful and attentive waiter. All in all a lovely start to our afternoon in Marblehead.

Great location with amazing views, plus the food and drinks were good! No complaints here.

    SMOKED SALMON Benedict

They had great options for brunch but none of the food really wowed us. The eggs Benedict was cold by the time it reached us, the burger wasn't super flavorful, and the salads both were just ok. Neither dressing was particularly good. The best thing was the salmon piece on the Ceaser salad. Especially since the rest of the salad was really small and seemed to be 3 uncut pieces of lettuce. None the less, this is a beautiful location. This is a busy spot even though it is tucked away in a difficult area. There were about 6 other families with kids and it's nice that they made accommodations for families, but they also have a strict no stroller policy. Just something to be mindful of.

came here for lunch on a sunny day. it was pretty busy so we didnt get to sit on the patio but the vibes inside were still grrrrreat! service was good considering, and they were very polite and understanding. i ordered a hamburger and my mom enjoyed the lobster roll. theres a good variety of foods to have and was a awesome way to end our trip!

Great food and an authentic coastal atmosphere! The restaurant sits right next to where the local fishermen unload their fresh-caught lobsters, so you know everything is as fresh as it gets. Noah, our waiter was friendly, the portions were generous, and it's a perfect spot for families -- our kids loved watching the boats come in while we ate. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Marblehead!

Emily & Bianca were amazing bartenders! They made me feel very welcome, were extremely friendly, and gave me some great recommendations for things to do in town. The ambience of the bar is very laid back with cozy vibes. I enjoyed a glass of wine with 1/2 dozen oysters. The mignonette was to die for.

My grandson loves his food....and he's picky :)

Maddie's is located on a side street off the main drag of old town Marblehead. The restaurant is located upstairs and the bar is located downstairs. We began our meal with the fried calamari. Cook fresh and served hot. The marinara was ok. Our entrees were the Pasta Fra Diavolo and the baked haddock. The pasta came out with a tasty sauce and a generous amount of seafood. My wife enjoyed her haddock which was something she doesn't usually order. The portion was generous and the veggies on the side were fresh and not canned. The service was very good and friendly. They have a full offering of drinks and I went draft beer, Alagash, a wheat beer from Maine. A good choice to go with a heavy meal. At the recommendation of our local host, I went for the Pan Seared Haddock. This comes with lobster meat in a white sauce served over potatoes and cooked spinach. So tasty, the seafood was tender and delicious, the sauce not overwhelming the flavors. Our server, Casey, was top notch and gave the right amount of earnest attention. When he wished us a good evening, I think he truly meant it. Husband had the seafood platter mixed and I tried one of the shrimp which was excellent. Great spot, though it is dimly lit and noisy(just know before you go type thing). Didn't hamper our enjoyment of a fun evening at all!

"Here lie the roses in the ashes Deep as the barnacles that…read morecling Just like a lace that runs through everyone and everything" (Elvis Costello) This is a tough one to write up. The food was very good, and I thought my Steamed Mussels might have been the very best version of a favorite dish I ever had. The view of the harbor from the back counter was beautiful. But..........there were a lot of buts. First of all, The Barnacle is not a large restaurant, and the dining room was so crowded, with tables and chairs so densely packed into every square inch it's really quite difficult to navigate your way around the room. In fact, after we were seated at that back counter, a server asked us if we could slide over because another patron couldn't maneuver herself into an open seat. We placed our order - a cup of clam chowder ($8), fish tacos ($14.95), and those fabulous Steamed Mussels ($18.95). And then we waited. And then we waited some more. And then the couple who sat next to us hadn't seen a server yet, so the gent walked over to the bar to get his own beer. And then we waited some more. And then our server sheepishly walked over and said she never got around to placing our order with the kitchen, so would we mind reminding her what we ordered? Now look, we had no appointment to keep and didn't mind the view of the scenery. But truthfully, the wait and delay did slice into a big chunk of our metered parking fee. And it sure would have been nice to see their service lapse translate into some tangible consideration. How about a complimentary appetizer, drink, dessert, or a cost reduction or anything. But no, there was no consideration given at all. No attempt to make things right. I'd say forgetting to place an order and not realizing the mistake for half an hour is a fairly serious issue. A waterside restaurant on a hot day really should have done a better job with the crowd, and they clearly weren't up to the task. But... those plump heavenly mussels in a sweet, herb and garlic broth were divine, and influenced my rating decision for a four-star experience.

My wife and I ordered the grilled salmon with Korean Koji BBQ glaze which came with stir fry veggies and Jasmine Rice. My wife and I both agreed it was the best salmon we have ever had in a restaurant. Served fresh, hot, and beyond tasty! The portion was generous and the rice and veggies were a great addition. My friend had the New England Clam chowder and lobster roll. The bowl of clam chowder was huge and he devoured it. The lobster roll was served Connecticut style and went down very easy. Coming from Colorado, he could not wait to get his hands on this regional cuisine. I can't speak for the rest of our table but nobody complained and there were many empty plates that went back to the kitchen. The service was excellent and friendly.
