The view!
Amy C.

We had excellent Caesar salads. The clam chowder was to die for the calamari was soggy. I can see that it has such potential, but we didn't get to eat it. Unfortunately, we ordered all of our courses at once and then we got our soup our salad, and our calamari all at once and there was no place to put but even a finger on the table. I don't know why they dropped all the food together it made us feel rushed. Our server was great. She did not drop the food and took all of our orders by memory and was accurate on everything I had the braised short rib and it was a huge chunk of meat and very tasty very tender. The lobster roll was nothing to write home about which is what my husband got- too bad. The ambience with the view right over the ocean is spectacular, but I think they cut themselves short by putting a bunch of round tables at the front they could build a lengthwise from the windows so more people could view it overall I would return for lunch. I would not return here for a dinner because it was impossible to hear the room is super loud and could use some material to reduce the bounce back.

The amazing monkfish!

We were a little concerned about dining here, after reading the poor reviews of the Lantern Room, that we might be taking a chance. So glad that we DID! The service by Heather was great and the food delicious. Whoever was the chef that night cooked us a wonderful main course of monkfish. Everything about it was perfect. The clams, the potatoes, the broth, and the seared monkfish were all amazing! A mouthwatering dish. Doubt that this was a fluke because the food we saw served around us also looked great. The atmosphere for dinner is very plain, but the chairs were super comfortable and there was some nice background music playing. We had a perfectly made drink that was supposedly $16 but they charged $17 so maybe they should look at updating the menu prices. That is the only small complaint. We will definitely be back and can't understand all the bad reviews.

Breakfast at this place was so bad that we left without eating it. Nothing was fully cooked. It was garbage.

I don't mind broiled or grilled, but please don't cover it up in butter. Not really sure what they're thinking. It becomes too much and too rich to eat quickly. She answered our questions about the menu thoroughly and promptly started our orders coming out. Then came the food. A delicious 1/2 dozen fresh Wellfleet oysters. You can get Wellfleet oysters in many places but for some reason these were the best tasting oysters I remember ever having. I had the entree of caramelized bay scallops with lobster risotto. What made this risotto sparkle, is that the chef added sweet peas to it. A delicious combination with the big pieces of lobster and scallops. My spouse had the crabmeat stuffed haddock as her entree. She thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the chefs own raspberry sorbet for desert. It was mouth watering. My spouse had the decadent warm lava cake with ice cream All in all, this will become of of my favorite restaurants on Cape Cod. The service, the staff and the food make this a "must eat" place to recommend to friends and anyone looking for a good night out. Thank you Sara!

We started by calling at 4:30 PM to put our name on the waitlist as the restaurant does not take reservations. We arrived at the opening time of 5 PM. We were warmly greeted and promptly seated. A short time later the whole restaurant was full. Our waitress Lia M was very attentive and present for any needs. She was pleasant and even made our anniversary celebration memorable and special. The food is fantastic, we have been there in the past and ordered their special garlic bread which is fresh and delicious with toasted garlic and cheese on top. My wife and I both had the salmon dish in the menu which included broccoli potatoes and mashed butternut squash. The delicious meal was complete with a cold dessert of chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream. We shared dessert and the presentation was fantastic with included berry double hearts. I would not hesitate to heartily recommend eating here. The ambiance of the dining area is made even more special by a fire in the rock fireplace. A+ to the Chappy Grill and thank you Lia for being a great server.

Instead, we had one of the worst dining experiences in recent memory. Before we ordered, our bread plates arrived, and one of them was covered in caked-on tomato sauce. Several of us ordered the shrimp fra diavlo pizza. My wife's pizza arrived with three tiny pieces of shrimp on top. Both my wife and I were sick with severe indigestion later that evening, and the culprit was clearly the food. We won't be coming back!

You could feel the energy as soon as you walked in. The bartenders were definitely in the weeds most of the night, but you'd never know it from their attitude -- still friendly, still smiling, and somehow making me feel like I'd been coming there for years (first visit, by the way). Grabbed a veggie pizza (solid choice), a cold beer, and settled in for a couple of hours of great local music and that perfect "this is exactly where I'm supposed to be tonight" vibe. If this is what a random Saturday looks like here, I'll be back.

Review: Jack's Restaurant and Bar - A Tale of Two Temperatures…read moreIf you're looking for a spot in Falmouth where the vibes are high but the Celsius is... conservative, Jack's Restaurant and Bar is your destination. I went in with high hopes and a healthy appetite. Here's the breakdown of our culinary "Goldilocks" experience--except nothing was actually hot. The Order The Boneless Ribeye: This steak was seasoned to perfection and tender enough to make a grown man cry. It had the soul of a five-star meal, but the temperature of a brisk October morning on Old Silver Beach. I'm convinced the chef cooked it beautifully and then gave it a pep talk in a room-temperature hallway for ten minutes before sending it out. The Scallops: My companion's scallops were seared wonderfully. They looked like little pillows of heaven. Unfortunately, they were also roughly the same temperature as actual pillows. Delicious? Yes. Did they require a scarf? Possibly. The "Lukewarm" Mystery It's honestly an impressive feat of physics. To have a crust that crisp on a ribeye and a sear that golden on a scallop, yet have both arrive with the thermal energy of a glass of tap water, defies the laws of thermodynamics. Pro Tip: If you're the type of person who always burns their tongue on the first bite, Jack's is your safe haven. You can dive in with the reckless abandon of a seagull hitting a discarded fry. The Verdict The food at Jack's is legitimately tasty. The flavors are 10/10, the bar scene is lively, and the service is friendly. We didn't even send it back because, frankly, we were too busy enjoying the flavor to care about the lack of steam. It's the only place I've been where the "warm" welcome applies to the steak, too. Final Score: (Four stars--would have been five, but I had to check my ribeye for a pulse to see if it was hibernating.)
