    Pot Roast - lunch menu

Stopped in for a late lunch. Quickly seated, and good service. Oysters are $1/ea 3-5pm daily. The pot roast was very good. Chicken Caesar salad and clam roll were also a hit

We had our family reunion dinner here at the Sagamore. We chose the Inn because someone told us we would love their food. They were so right. We dealt with Beth, the Sales Manager. Planning this event on our end was not easy. Beth made every step in this process so easy. Not only the professional you need and feel comfortable with, but kind and friendly. This beautiful venue still has our family talking about their experience. I'm so glad we chose the Sagamore Inn. And so grateful we had Beth and Nicole taking care of our family. Thank you

The worst fish and shrimp plate ever encountered.

I have to say that I was so completely unimpressed in every way imaginable with this place. It truly seemed like a low rent Perkins with not even any of the usual Perkins qualities. It really was THAT low and with a lunch price of $62, how is that even possible??? I will simply post my awful fish and shrimp plate where for some reason they chose to batter and fry the tail fins in terribly old oil. Just a miserable dining experience, and to think this was even a SECOND visit.

Clamboil night with great friends. Everything was good, but they could've offered way more clams!

I think this place has come along way! I thought the food was basic, but lately it's been fabulous! They have Keno and a lovely outside pavilion and offer a variety of public functions. So far, we tried their clamboil and a comedy dinner show.

Sagamore Inn recently catered my daughter's bridal shower and they did an amazing job. Everything was spot on. The table set up, their help with our shower set up, the food, the gluten free breads, their hospitality and professionalism. From the minute we made the call many months ago until the shower this past weekend, they were on hand for us to call anytime. We would 100% use Rhonda and her team again.

But I stopped by midday and inquired, learning that about half the tables are first-come first-served and if I arrived around 5:15 I'd get in with no wait. A bit early but that's what I did. By 5:45 it was completely full and I heard the hostess telling arrivers of 60 minute waits. Very popular! And for good reason. La Bella Vita was as close to perfect as I've seen in some time. The hostess did some quick checking and soon found me a high top table for 4 in the semi-enclosed patio (wood stud walls, metal roof, plexiglass panels keeping out the chilly wind). There are a lot of different spaces here: the patio where I sat, the outdoor garden, or the main dining room with its table seating, the bar, and a counter and stools along a wall. So if you plan ahead and make a reservation you can have your pick. My waitress arrived soon after I was seated, brought water in a pitcher and offered bread which I appreciated. Free bread is getting less common these days unfortunately, and it was good: soft warm Italian with an herbed crust, and a bottle of olive oil and jar of grated Parmesan on the table. My drinks for the evening were one of their specials, Grapefruit Gimlet. Which I suppose is a gimlet made with grapefruit juice instead of - or in addition to - lime? It had just a hint of sweetness, good flavor, icy cold, beautiful pink color, was served in an attractive glass, and strong. My appetizer was arancini: a generous portion of 3 with a nice crunchy outside, served over plenty of good red sauce and covered with coarsely grated cheese and green parsley. The interior could have been firmer - the risotto may have been a little overcooked - but overall quite good. The highlight was without a doubt the main entree: Pork Osso Buco. It must have been a special because I don't see it on the menu now. A spectacular presentation, and enormous! The pork shank standing vertically in the center of the plate atop the mashed sweet potatoes, surrounded by a huge portion of roasted brussels sprouts. The meat was heavily herb-crusted and tender. The brussels sprouts, carefully sliced into halves, were well-browned and had just a pleasant hint of bitterness, and the sweet potato mash was a more interesting choice than the common white potatoes. They don't skimp on portion sizes here, the meat or the vegetables. I ate plenty that evening and took home enough for a large lunch the next day. My waitress was flawless. She checked on me as needed, asking how things were, knew all the answers to my several questions about the food and drinks, had good recommendations, and made me feel welcome and at home. Dessert was the Spumoni Bomba: chocolate, pistachio, and strawberry gelato inside a hard chocolate shell, served with whipped cream and chocolate drizzle. Also excellent, all 3 gelatos having great flavor, the shell pleasingly crunchy and chocolatey. The whipped cream was an unnecessary addition and was slightly melty. A minor flaw for a very good dessert, and like the appetizer and entree, a size that was more than adequate. Desserts are not made in house but came from "a bakery in Boston" I was told. Even the espresso was perfect. Definitely a place to return to. There's a large menu including many of the Italian standards - pastas, meat, poultry, and seafood entrees, and pizzas. Plenty of things to choose from. They don't make the pasta in house but I'll forgive them for that.

The atmosphere is just ok but our waitress was very friendly and accommodating. So that was a plus! We ordered the arancini, bolognese, chicken parm with broccolini instead of pasta. The arancini was crunchy but only tasted like cheese. The chicken parm was fine. Not crunchy. The broccoli was charred beyond recognition! It tasted Smokey. I had already sent back a drink I didn't care for so I didn't want to send another thing back. Bolognese was good. Nothing special either. Don't think we will hurry back.

We visited Leonessa in 2023 however. We always consider this meal one of the top 5 best meals we ever had, maybe even the best. It may have been perfect timing paired with the kitchen and staff being top notch or just the way the world was spinning that night but it was 10/10. The polenta fries with the truffle aiola was a great pairing with the amatriciana we got for starters. The pork chop is one of the two best pork chops I ever had. I typical order a pork chop when dining out so I have a good list of places to order one and this one sits at the top. My Wife ordered the roasted chicken. Chicken can sometimes be just, chicken. Well, when done correctly it can be a lot more. Best chicken dish my Wife has ordered although, we do tend to stay away from ordering basic chicken dishes. As frequent patrons over the last many summers and even some winter adventures, we were looking forward to our meal, but this is no longer the Salvatore's you remember or read about in the reviews. The menu is about 1/3rd the size it used to be and the interesting different flavors are no longer available. If you want more than your very basic Italian standard fare, you must look to the "specials". The lobster ravioli special, a former favorite, is now "ravioli topped with chunks of lobster meat". Despite the mostly empty house, it took 15 minutes to get water to the table and a server to inquire about drinks. If it weren't for the $25/head charge for making a reservation we would have left before ordering but as it was, we split a drink and an appetizer with a mind to see how the evening progressed. Unfortunately, we left in search of a better option pretty quickly. The prosciutto mozzarella presented nicely, so much so that the table near us asked what we ordered, but sadly the tomatoes were not ripe and the balsamic was barely evident. The meat and cheese were still of the quality we would have expected at Salvatore's but they seem to have lost all of their passion for preparing food and sharing the flavors that excite them. Look elsewhere until you walk by and are pleasantly surprised to see a line out into the road like the old days.
