Both of them personally followed up with me by phone, listened to exactly what I was trying to accomplish, and created a menu that absolutely exceeded every expectation. The food was phenomenal. Every single guest commented on how outstanding it was, and there was something for everyone. What truly set Dingle House apart, though, was the service. When our party bus arrived, Scott, Chef Eric, and the team were waiting for us with everything we needed. They brought the food directly to the bus, along with plates, utensils, napkins, and an incredible attitude. They turned what could have been a logistical challenge into one of the most memorable parts of the entire event. I've eaten at a lot of restaurants over the years, and I've never experienced a team so willing to go above and beyond to accommodate such an unusual request on such short notice. When we sat down (you choose your own seat here) it was really noisy and crowded. They had one waiter for the entire restaurant, a very nice young man who stopped by the minute we sat down to tell us his name and that he would be right with us. After 10 minutes he came by and took our drinks order (two Cokes) and we ordered pretzel bites as an appetizer. He did not take our entire order though, and said he would be right back with our drinks. 15 minutes later he was back with two waters; we told him we ordered Cokes and off he went again, returning in 10 minutes with Cokes. Our pretzel bites came out from a guy who looked like the manager, but we still had not placed our main order. We finished the pretzel bites (they were good) and decided that 40 minutes of waiting to place our order was a tad lengthy, so 5 minutes later when he finally made it over we asked for the check. He was very apologetic and ran off to get our check. 10 minutes later, he's back with the bill but drops it off and runs to another table. We waited and waited, planning to pay with our credit card, but after yet another 10 minutes and no sign of him, we left cash and got out of there. We may try these guys again on a non-game day, but I'm not totally convinced the service would be any better regardless. After 20 minutes or so of us arriving, the restaurant had cleared out quite a bit but it didn't help us get any closer to placing our order. It's a shame too because they had a very cool menu and we were excited to try their main entrees. Maybe someday....

Full disclosure: I have known Adrian for nearly twenty years. He and wife Maggie and their daughters are some of my favorite people. I couldn't be more excited for them, and for all of us! It's exciting to see a dream become a reality. Having grown up in England, Adrian knows what a proper English pub is... and he wanted to bring that experience to each of us. They are still working out the kinks as they have only been open for a few days, but beyond that, this will be a welcome addition to the community for sure! I decided to get a chicken curry last night as I saw some people comment on it. It wasn't bad, but honestly apart from it being spicy, it was pretty tasteless. I have had 100s of curries in Scotland and that one just didn't come up to par. I also noticed that since going there about a month ago, the price went up on the bangers and mash, which is delicious. I love how they have the bisto gravy and the beans are the way they should be. I have been told by my friend that their chips (fries) are very good too. I do like this little place with it's ambiance and friendly staff, and hope that if it's becoming more popular, they are not going to start hiking the prices on everything. read more

We were told the wait would be about 35 minutes, which seemed completely reasonable. The hostess took our phone number, told us she would call when our table was ready, and directed us to wait on the patio. We ordered drinks from the bar and stayed there the entire time. At 8:00 p.m., we checked on our table only to be told they had called us twice "30 minutes ago." That made no sense. My phone ringer was on, I had no missed calls or voicemails, and I even verified that the hostess had the correct phone number. Instead of trying to resolve what was clearly a communication issue, the hostess was dismissive, rude, and completely unapologetic. We were simply told the kitchen was closed and there was nothing they could do. This was especially frustrating because the sign on the door stated the restaurant was open until 9:00 p.m. Mistakes happen. What made this experience unacceptable was the complete lack of customer service or any effort to make things right. After waiting, buying drinks, and following the staff's instructions, we were effectively blamed for a problem that appears to have been on their end and then turned away without dinner. Ye Olde Trail Tavern failed to deliver even the most basic level of hospitality. It certainly did not reflect the welcoming spirit that Yellow Springs is known for. We won't be back, and based on this experience, I can't recommend it to anyone.
