The hostess took our phone number, told us she would call when our table was ready, and directed us to wait on the patio. We ordered drinks from the bar and stayed there the entire time. At 8:00 p.m., we checked on our table only to be told they had called us twice "30 minutes ago." That made no sense. My phone ringer was on, I had no missed calls or voicemails, and I even verified that the hostess had the correct phone number. Instead of trying to resolve what was clearly a communication issue, the hostess was dismissive, rude, and completely unapologetic. We were simply told the kitchen was closed and there was nothing they could do. This was especially frustrating because the sign on the door stated the restaurant was open until 9:00 p.m. Mistakes happen. What made this experience unacceptable was the complete lack of customer service or any effort to make things right. After waiting, buying drinks, and following the staff's instructions, we were effectively blamed for a problem that appears to have been on their end and then turned away without dinner. Ye Olde Trail Tavern failed to deliver even the most basic level of hospitality. It certainly did not reflect the welcoming spirit that Yellow Springs is known for. We won't be back, and based on this experience, I can't recommend it to anyone.

Full disclosure: I have known Adrian for nearly twenty years. He and wife Maggie and their daughters are some of my favorite people. I couldn't be more excited for them, and for all of us! It's exciting to see a dream become a reality. Having grown up in England, Adrian knows what a proper English pub is... and he wanted to bring that experience to each of us. They are still working out the kinks as they have only been open for a few days, but beyond that, this will be a welcome addition to the community for sure! I decided to get a chicken curry last night as I saw some people comment on it. It wasn't bad, but honestly apart from it being spicy, it was pretty tasteless. I have had 100s of curries in Scotland and that one just didn't come up to par. I also noticed that since going there about a month ago, the price went up on the bangers and mash, which is delicious. I love how they have the bisto gravy and the beans are the way they should be. I have been told by my friend that their chips (fries) are very good too. I do like this little place with it's ambiance and friendly staff, and hope that if it's becoming more popular, they are not going to start hiking the prices on everything. read more

It was very hot sitting in the dining room, and I can only imagine how miserable it must have been for the kitchen staff working in those conditions. They were working so hard!
