I love this bar, it's my kind of place! The Stand is truly a one of a kind patio bar. Where else have you ever seen an old hamburger stand (think Fosters Freeze) turned into bar. I know there are beer gardens but this is like no other beer garden you've seen. The beer is ice cold and there is a good variety of both on tap and bottled. For those who don't drink beer, there are plenty of fruity adult beverages too. But the other great thing about this place is the amazing food. They have great burgers, chili dogs, huge salads and if you hit it in the right day, a great tri tip. If you ever find your way traveling up Hwy 5 towards Chico, Oroville or Oregon you should pull off in Willows and give it a try. read more

For the last three years we have made The Last Stand a must stop on the way to and back from camping. They never disappoint. Normal order is a few bacon cheeseburgers, fries, and a soda or a beer depending on who is driving. Staff is nice and food comes out quick. read more

It's an nice enough place for burgers, hotdogs & beer. They have a variety of fries too. The food is pretty much what you would expect. Most of the seating is outdoors so covid safe. I just wish mask wearing was compulsory and enforced because some of the folks do get loud. Probably won't be back until covid is over. read more

This is a great place to stop and grab a bite to eat if you are on Hwy 5 near Willows, CA. There is a small parking lot for customers. The open bar and standing area was pretty cool to see. There are also tables and chairs inside the restaurant. It was a cold day, so we chose to sit inside. Due to the open bar area, it was extremely cold inside, too. I had to wear my jacket to stay warm. Looking at the menu, I ordered chili fries, but chose tator tots instead. My husband went with the bacon cheeseburger. Fries are not included with the burgers, so you have to pay an additional amount just for fries. My husband went with curly fries. About 10 minutes, our food came out. The portion size is huge! I was only able to eat about half my chili tots. The chili was delicious! My husband really enjoyed his burger and curly fries. Overall, prices are very reasonable here! I believe almost everything is under $10. Service was really good, too. I'd highly recommend The Last Stand. read more

Not a lot of open stores on this street, we were glad to find a unique place with character and they were super kind to our young kids (1 and 3) and brought a fresh bowl of water for the pup. This was such a fun little discovery on a drive back from up north. We were wanting In n Out but the closest one was in Chico - but I put into Yelp a search for Burgers and this popped up. We quickly made the exit off the road - quick 1 mile from the freeway and found this spot. I had a chicken wrap and my hubby had a double bacon cheese burger with curly fries. Both of our orders were really good - I have to say I do love a place that has condiments - they brought over a 6 pack beer carrier with Ketchup, Mustard, Ranch, Spicy Sauce (House Sauce), BBQ sauce and I think Mayo as the 6th. Needless to say it made my little sauce addicted heart pitter patter. They had water dog bowls available for the doggies and had open seating - everyone was super friendly! Next time we head up north we will be sure to make a pit stop here for lunch instead! read more

This place is DELICIOUS and on point! Was on a short road trip up north and found The Last Stand well recommended on an app search and we quickly exited the highway and headed into Willows. We loved it so much we hit up for lunch the next day on the way home! Consistent well prepared burgers and fries (and onion rings) and very cold beer. And lots of good sauces. Very nice staff, including the owner and the regulars we chatted with. Clean bathrooms, etc. I will NEVER drive through Willows without stopping here. YUM! read more

Omg! Yummmmm! This place makes me feel like I'm on vacation in Baja! With the cool theme, relaxed atmosphere, outdoor bar and fabulous staff you can't but feel like your on vacation. I as always asked for the staff to help me pick something yummy. Since I couldn't decide between the western wrap and buffalo wrap the gorgeous eyed Heather Z helped me with a suggestion of get the western wrap with the buffalo sauce to satisfy both cravings. I can tell you I danced while eating it because it was so delicious. My fiancé had a bacon cheese burger and was in love! The chef came and checked on us and asked if we liked what he prepared for me!! The ice tea is fresh brewed and delicious. I'm giving The Last Stand five stars, but understand that the final star (or star-and-a-half) is for character. I've already said that I frequent the Starbucks just off of I-5 in Willows because it's exactly halfway between my home and SacTown, so I understand the appeal of freeway convenience and corporate predictability. But do yourself a favor. If you're tempted to partake in the fast food options near the main Willows I-5 interchange, drive another two minutes into town and check out The Last Stand. Ambiance: An indoor/outdoor bar that The Last Stand claims is the last stand-up bar in California. Open-air, like a funky beach bar in Mexico. Kind of a sports-bar vibe with the flat-screen TVs tuned to ESPN. Plenty of indoor seating, too, if that's what you want. Food: I ordered a double burger, thinking I'd get something along the lines of an In-N-Out double. Instead, this monster was four inches high, including generous amounts of crisp lettuce, fresh tomato, red onion, pickles, and thick patties. I had to feed one patty to a very grateful Labrador retriever pup. Better garlic fries than the ones that I'm hooked on at AT&T Park, with tons of sauteed chunks of garlic. Drink: The Last Stand has a decent selection of draft beers and a wider selection of bottled microbrews. After my Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, I took a nap on our bench with my head on TL's lap. How long was I out? Service: Laid back and friendly. Dog factor: They have a bucket of fresh water on the patio for your pooch that Yampa hit at least twice. I'm not saying that it's gourmet, or even 50's or 60's traditional/nostalgic in the sense that some mom-and-pop burger joints almost desperately strive for. It's kind of a singular experience. Not bad for middle of no where road trip food! Probably the best in terms of location and avoiding a drive thru! We ordered a sandwich (BLT), bowl of chili and a salad. The salad and veg on the BLT was very crisp and fresh and the chili was definitely home made. Service was fine, prices were reasonable. We didn't see the inside so I cannot really comment on that but the space outside was nice, Lucky for us it was a nice enough day to sit and get some sun. Driving south on 5 and didn't want to eat at fast food. Read great yelp reviews and stopped by. May be a mile or so more than the fast food options right off the highway but this place is so good! There's an indoor dining room with table service and a standing bar outside. Since we had our dog with us, we settled at a table outside on the patio. We didn't have the waitress but that was fine with us. We ordered at the bar and she called us over when the food was ready. We ordered the following: tuna melt, hamburger, double bacon cheeseburger, and fried cod sandwich. We also had steak fries and onion rings. The order of fries was large enough for 2 adults and 2 children to share. The cod sandwich was delicious. Fried perfectly and a thin slice of tomato, lettuce and pickles. The condiments are on the table in a beer six pack box. I like it when restaurants do this because I can put what I want on it. I would definitely come back here when in the area! read more

We were on our way up to Seattle and really wanted to take a break and grab a quick bite... The Last Stand popped up on YELP with some good reviews, so we thought what the hey, lets give it a try... It was a little bit off the main highway, but my goodness me SO WORTH IT! This place is one of the all-time great road house diners! We loved the atmosphere, and our waitress CHARLEY was simply the best! She was super friendly and just excellent at recommending with whatever we asked about on the menu. We ended up splitting a Club Sandwich after asking about whether it would be too much or not enough (as we were not famished!) and it turned out to be just perfect for the two of us. A truly unique place and a bit like taking a trip to place not of these times, and we simply loved it and would stop there in a heartbeat on our next trip. And like others, clean & tidy, nice vibe, very local clientele, great service and best of all the food was just excellent. As has been said previously, if you are traveling on I5 and need a nice break and some great food, I can't recommend The Last Stand Diner enough, real people and really good food! read more

This place has good food! Our party of four all enjoyed our food. Service was friendly and efficient. The only bobble to complain about was that I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and they forgot my bacon. They did fix the check when I mentioned it. Prices were reasonable. Their bacon was really good, my friend ordered a sandwich that had too much for her, so she was kind enough to share some. The place is semi 'open air' so it is warm even if you sit in the diner. Parking is nearly non-existent, we had to park up the street. Next time I'm back in Willows I will be eating here again! read more

It seems that this is one of the only open businesses in this town every time we drive through. Standard burger/sandwich stand menu with above average food. The tuna melt was better than expected and the local "scene" is interesting to watch. The food always takes a little longer than it should, but I don't think the locals are in much of a hurry. Where else can you stand outside and drink beer?!? This is the "Last" and I'm guessing only patio style bar in California. If you travel through this area, perhaps on your way to Lake Shasta or Mt. Lassen you may have stopped here. If you haven't stopped here...you're missing out. It truly is a great place for burgers, wraps, hot dogs (fried which is my favorite), salads and more. There is also usually a daily special and on Thursday they do tri-tip. There are tables on the patio (order at the bar) and indoor table service. We ordered the patty melt with rye bread and pepper jack cheese. These people know how to cook. We paired it with bar-b-que sauce and tots. A beer to wash it down and we had a very satisfying lunch.
