We've been looking for cask also after a trip to Scotland and loved that Leaning Cask does them. We quietly stalked their IG for when they might have it and alas we found a time they did. We stopped in on a Friday and since they're dog friendly, have the pups join us. There's ample seating and we found a spot by the bar. We see the cask and both order it and it indeed takes us back to pubs in Edinburgh. We also try other beers they have and appreciate that the ABVs are reasonable. They have food trucks since there's no kitchen and we ordered. It's El Rincon Oaxaqueño on the day we went. My burrito comes out hot and delicious. We are always looking for dog friendly breweries, and The Leaning Cask was definitely one of the best ones we've visited! The atmosphere was great; they have both an indoor and an outdoor area. I've been wanting to visit this brewery for a while. However it's off the beaten path from our house. It was nice to make this happen finally. We arrived and went inside and they place has a hipster vibe to it. Not bright, but dimmed nicely. When we arrived we went up to the bar and sampled a couple of beers and as always I go with the hazy beer. It was a good choice. But we did a sample of 4 beers and then did the hazy. I liked the beer. It was good beer, great service. They had a nice food truck outside which was epic with our beer. I liked this place. Picked up a 4 pack of Cadence the hazy ipa. I'm a sucker for any place that allows dogs. You can usually find happy pups here and the beers are mostly named after dogs. It's easily the best bar in the area. They have outside seating when it's warm with a big connect four for the kids. They serve Narcissi for friends that don't want beer. I like getting flights though. They have great food trucks in the weekend and in the summer they have some sundays where they host a 5k and you get a free beer afterwards. And they have Tricia nights and some board games. Finally made it to Leaning Cask while checking out this side of town & getting some stamps for the Pittsburgh Brewery Guide. It's an English Pub-inspired brewery and all of the beers/ciders on tap are named after dog breeds! Dogs are welcome here, of course. Our drinks were delicious. I had the cheeky doodle cider and was very impressed. It was nice and dry, light and flavorful. I loved the cozy nook up front with photos of dogs and a fireplace. The brewery is really quite spacious which I wasn't expecting. They also have a large outdoor space now with courtyard seating. It was actually an old public park they acquired. Very friendly bartenders and frequent food trucks out front. Lovely spot. read more

I stopped by here this past Saturday afternoon with my wife for some drinks. Leaning Cask Brewing Company has been on my list of Yelp bookmarks since it has opened and so whenever we found ourselves sort of close on a Saturday with some free time, we headed over. Pulling up to the brewery we immediately noticed a food truck outside which is nice if you need some food. The inside of the brewery is done in earthy colors so you see a lot of wood and darker colors. That doesn't mean that it's dark though as they have plenty of lighting including some Edison bulbs to keep it bright. Upon entering the restaurant there are small lounge areas on both sides followed by a bar to the left and seating to the right. I also saw that they had a back room but it wasn't being used on the day that we were there. This brewery is also British themed which you can tell by the rugby ball, merchandise themed "football" jersey as well things like the potato chips on the menu being called crisps. As I often do whenever I visit a new brewery, I went with a flight here. At Leaning Cask Brewing Company that means 4 - 5 oz pours for $9. For my 4 beers I went with the Nelson Unleashed (NE IPA), Pumpkin Bay Retriever (Imperial Pumpkin), Imperial Ridgeback (DIPA) and the Resilience ( West Coast IPA). The first beer I tried was the Nelson Unleashed which was pretty good with a bright start followed by the strong flavor of hops. Up next was the Pumpkin Bay Retriever which started with those nice fall spices before turning smooth for a bit and finishing oddly bitter. So while I enjoyed the nose and first part of it, I can't say that I enjoyed the taste it left in my mouth. Third was the Imperial Ridgeback which started out smooth before finishing with a nice little hops flavor. Last but certainly not least was the Resilience. It started out with what tasted like some pine favors before moving into the hops for the finish. Even so it was smooth and a lot more tame than I was expecting. Out of the bunch I think that the Nelson Unleashed was my favorite with the Imperial Ridgeback being a close second. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. While I wouldn't drive too far out of my way to get here, I did enjoy the beers and vibe from Leaning Cask. read more

A very cool spot in Springdale. Plenty of street parking. The space itself is very nice. Staff was super friendly. They had a food truck but also serve snacks in order to be compliant with COVID guidelines. If you have a dog, make sure to take him/her to visit, they are very dog-friendly. We stopped at the Leaning Cask late in the afternoon this past Sunday. We were in the general area so we made our way there though we had decided it would be a rather quick stop being Super Bowl Sunday. When we arrived there was parking for blocks. The town seemed to have been deserted. Perhaps everyone was already strapped to their couches for the big game. When we went in the place was empty minus the two young ladies behind the bar. We made some general small talk with the one and was given a paper menu to study in lieu of straining my eyes on the chalkboard one. Dog owners be proud! They love their pooches here. Very dog friendly with every beer name inspired by our beloved best friends. But not just any pup will do. No the ales are largely slanged after European breeds. Since we were the only patrons, and I love nothing more than to engage the staff at every brewery I go to, I start asking questions along with my first drink order of Double Dog Dare. I like how they offer different sizes and let you taste test before committing. The bartender started to tell us about the owners and how they started as home brewers. They also have a deep connection to England and try to utilize different English style techniques and flavors in their beers, and how their tasting room and brewery is modeled after a traditional English pub. For those of you wondering how they do it over the pond, per Wikipedia: "As a beer brewing country, England is known for its top fermented cask beer (also called real ale) which finishes maturing in the cellar of the pub rather than at the brewery and is served with only natural carbonation. English beer styles include bitter, mild, brown ale and old ale." I also asked about food, and she said they generally have trucks on the weekends, but more specifically I asked if they were considering adding their own menu (British Style)? She said it was an idea they bounced around but nothing concrete. Now that would be a really cool addition to this town! For my last beer I tried Imperial Ridgeback and liked it a lot, even better than my original American style IPA. We finally made it here! This area is special to me because my mom grew up here and my grandmother's house who passed a few years back is only a couple blocks away. We have been traveling around the Pittsburgh area looking for new breweries and trying different beer. This one has been on our radar since the summer. We came here on a Sunday late afternoon right before the Super bowl. It was dead in there. They usually have a food truck but there wasn't one for this day. There was street parking right in front of the doors. We walked in and it is a very attractive brewery. Good open space and a cool English fill. We were told about the owners being connected to England and they brought their style of beer, their love of dogs, and football here to Springdale! We tried a handful of their beers and I didn't fall in love with one. They were good but I couldn't find one that I really liked. Not a big deal to me because you wont always find that great beer when you go to a brewery but you might find it when you come back. The bartender was nice and we had a good time here. They have a room where you can have a private party with a projector screen. We were told that they own the whole building so they could have a rooftop area at some point which would be really nice. I might be able to see my grandma's house from there LoL! Like I said before they usually have a food truck here that rotates and is usually pretty good. They say sometime customers come here to just to eat the food so it has to be good. If you're a beer lover and love going to breweries this is a top one in the Burgh that you have to try out. We will have to come back on a busier day when there is a food truck and I'll try some different beer to get a better feel for this brewery. read more

We went in to this place since we discovered this place is one of the few places in Pittsburgh that actually advertises being dog friendly. (They even have a doggie bathroom) We really enjoyed all the beers. We were also surprised by the cool atmosphere. My husband and I really enjoyed the mosaic mastiff. I visited for the 1st time last night. It was their 2 year anniversary party - we had a lot of fun. There were 2 food trucks, a singer, and giveaways. The place was really cute, with tons of space. Employees were very inviting and all the other patrons were in good spirits. I had a tasting and my favorites were the Greyhound and Submissive Grin (a milkshake IPA...I typically don't like IPAs, but loved this one). It's kid and dog friendly- which is a plus for me. There were games for the older kids. Just one note: they don't have highchairs - so bring your stroller if you have a little one. They have rotating food trucks all the time, so check their calendar online. I haven't been during the Premier League season, but I did see on the calendar that they show some matches on the weekends. This is something I plan to check out in the fall. read more

Great perk was a free awesome IPA as a reward for the short run! I had not had the pleasure of trying their beer before and will definitely be back to try more! Had the Mosaic Mastiff that was crisp and refreshing and was able to get homemade chips and dip from the food truck located right outside the door! Now that I've been here quite a few times- my update is still 5 stars! Though I'm not a huge fan of all of their beers and there are only a couple I love, I'm so particular about the type of beers I like so that's my fault. I really love the ESB and I like the whole English style way the beers are served- the fact that they are a little less cold than typical makes it so you can taste them better. The atmosphere is great and it seems to always be hopping. I love that it is dog friendly, and the service is always great as well. I'll definitely be back! read more

Interested in a brewery in such a small town. Great atmosphere, not a dark, Smokey, place with loud music you can't hear a conversation over. DOG friendly, so bring your pooch. Good variety with 10 brews plus the slow draw cask to make it 11. Need a little more of description of the beers for someone who is not so familiar with beer. I give this a 4 star because I am tough. Do they have a beer that competes with KBS? No, but do they have very good beer? Yes! Love Scottish Terrier a lot. They have a CASK on, which is rare in our area. I had the food truck food, from Alberta's pizza and it is good. Not quite as good as Driftwood, but better than most any Pittsburgh pizza places. Anyway, this brewpub is one of the better places in our region to say the least. I can't get over how bad some of the brewpubs are in and around Pittsburgh. Drink this beer and you will understand what CAN be done in a brewpub. Bravo! read more
