    Fish & chips
    Lawrence K.

I'm on a quest to find LA's best fish & chips. Of all the places I've tried, this place has the best chips--traditional English thick cut, but with the LA twist (sprinkling of chili powder, which mixes well with lime & tartar sauce). As for the fish, that was sub-optimal, with batter lacking crunch. But the underlying fish meat made up for it--soft and flaky. Right now, the best fish is from England fish & chips in Long Beach. There it's the opposite problem where fish is great, but chips suck.

When Boyfriend and I were long-distance, we would talk about where we wanted to live. We wanted some place where you could walk to cool places. I always included "an Irish pub where we play trivia on Tuesday nights." Guess what we found? We're loving Dublin's. This is our second Tuesday. We had lots of fun last Tuesday. Even though we didn't do so well in trivia. Our waitress is super friendly and attentive. Trivia did start late our second visit. It's supposed to start at 9:30. At 9:33, the trivia comes strolling in and took his time setting up, just sort of meandering around. Trivia didn't start until 9:57. And he says, "We're starting late but that's okay." No. No, it's not. I have had the street dog and a cheeseburger. Both were decent. Nothing special but solid. They have a good selection of drinks. Again, not special but solid. Boyfriend liked the pineapple cider. The fries could use more salt. Boyfriend has had the chicken sandwich and quesadilla. He says they were very good, despite the quesadilla being very thin. It has a great neighborhood pub vibe.

Cool lil dive bar. Not too divey. Had an ipa 10$ flat Place was pretty cool but is more of pit stop for the locals. Just stopped by on my adventure and needed a spot to sit a spell and something nice to wet ma whistle. Did the job, appreciate the hospitality Dublins

Food is sub-par. Service is awful. Ambiance is non existent. Such a shame considering your in the heart of DTLA, across from the Bloc, in such a nice historic building. Rated below from bad to horrible to worst: We just wanted a place where we can grab a drink and an appetizer. What a complete let down. We entered this Irish themed pub, bar with seating is located in the front with a few high tables on the side. The security/bouncer who was there merely turned his head when he heard door open and just said "sit wherever you want" then proceeded to play this golf game on the big screen that is situated at the corner. (bad) We ordered nachos with steak. The most disappointing nachos I've ever seen and tasted. Chips were stale. The meat was ground beef, unseasoned and chewy. Also based on the cleanliness of the space (our table was dirty, probably from the day before as there was absoluely no one in there) i'm certain their kitchen standards aren't the best and it shows in the food (horrible & nasty) The bartender/owner said perhaps 2 words to us, never checked in, didn't bother to greet, manners were non-existent, he was on his phone the entire time, even came to our table to give us our bill while talkin on the phone. His attitude was as stale as the chips. The entire place needs a new set of management and a lesson is customer service. Throw the whole thing away. A damn vending machine gives better attitude and service than this nonsense. (The epitome of what not to do. The worst customer service ever!) Let's be real tho, if you don't care about your business, I too don't care to support it. Save yourself the trouble, time and money. Go anywhere else. I wouldn't even buy a beer from this place if I was in my ratchet college years.

Dublin's is an Irish sports bar conveniently located by 7th/metro. It's definitely a bit older and run down but with lots of seating for happy hours. The well drinks are $10 and what you would expect from a well drink. There's a pretty large beer selection and a few cocktails to choose from too. The food is standard bar food at average bar prices. The french fries were a good snack for the table but the nachos were a bit disappointing. The bathrooms were not very well kept and all the locks on the stalls were broken so beware of that. Overall a solid spot for sports and happy hour but not the nicest bar.

This place is underrated. The simple hot dog isn't simple. Wrapped in bacon and very juicy. I got mine without mayo mustard or ketchup but it was top tier. For an extra $3 you get an absolute mountain of fries. Morgan was our bar tender and she did an exceptional job always attentive. Don't pass by this place stop in!

Overall, our recent experiences have been solid. It's always great when an "old favorite" still feels like a good value. I miss some of the menu items like the lentil shepherd's pie, but we have very much enjoyed the hearty English breakfast. They also have a good selection of European beers on tap. Service has been friendly, but it is lightly staffed and pretty slow, so it's not a good place if you are in a hurry. They don't keep an eye on the patio, so if you sit out there, it's best to go inside and let them know. They also seem to have more rules than before - but I have to imagine these have come from experience. I don't think this is an ideal place to go with a large group. If it's a quiet night you might be able to pull tables together long-ways, but most tables seem ideal for 2-4. We come with our dog and sit on the patio when it isn't busy. The dog meals are massive (more food than ours eats in a whole day and she weighs 60 lbs). It's a good value, but beware if your dog is on a diet! Overall, my favorite thing is that genuinely feels like a pub, in that you can just come as you are and take your time without being rushed. A good fit for both locals and visitors in Pasadena.

Everyone had to purchase something, which is a fair policy, but it wasn't posted or mentioned until we were already inside. Had I known, we probably wouldn't have come in, since I was only looking for food and there was nowhere to comfortably lay a dish. Vibes of the pub were generally good, but our server was unexpectedly rude. Everyone inside wore wristbands designating whether they were 21+ or under 21, checked by the bouncer at the door. I already had my 21+ wristband on when I walked in, but this server still accused me of lying about my age and demanded to see my ID in front of a crowd of people. It was needlessly humiliating, and she was also curt to my entire party when taking our orders; she just seemed annoyed and irritated. That said, it was insanely busy, and I'm sure it was a frustrating shift. Just left a bad taste in my mouth, being singled out and treated like a child in front of people for no apparent reason.

The bartenders are friendly, attentive, and genuinely on top of things, which is a big reason we've kept coming back. Over time, we've even met some of the owners, and the place has always felt welcoming and well-run, even through ownership changes. That's why this last visit stood out and not in a good way. The bar was packed for the basketball games, and the staff was clearly hustling. Honestly, they could've used more support behind the bar for a crowd like that. Instead, one of the partners seemed to take on the role of... social host. He made sure people knew who he was, but didn't actually step in to help where it mattered. We've seen other partners jump behind the bar or run food when things get busy, so the contrast here was hard to miss. At times, it felt less like leadership and more like a running announcement tour. Meanwhile, the team that was actually working kept pushing through a packed house. The vibe took another hit with the TVs. With so many screens already locked on basketball, it didn't seem like a big ask to change just one on baseball. One of the bartenders even put it on, but a few minutes later, after a guest played into Mr. Big Shot's ego, he went and changed it right back. Just unnecessary, and honestly felt a little performative. We still like this place and really appreciate the staff who show up and do the work. But that interaction definitely left a different impression than what we've come to expect here.

Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. I ordered the chicken schnitzel with mushroom gravy, my boyfriend got the Hungarian brat with spaetzle, and our friend ordered the Hungarian brat on a roll. Starting with the schnitzel: it wasn't completely terrible, but it definitely wasn't good. The breading was some what soggy and sliding off the chicken, and the chicken itself had almost no seasoning besides an odd lemony sourness. The mashed potatoes were honestly awful -- extremely sour, like they were overloaded with sour cream but missing butter, salt, or any real flavor. I LOVE mashed potatoes and only managed two bites before giving up. The red cabbage was overcooked, mushy, and had a slightly off taste. Overall, the schnitzel plate was maybe a 2/10, and those points go solely to the fact that the chicken itself was technically edible. My boyfriend's meal somehow managed to be worse. The bratwurst was fine, but tasted frozen and reheated rather than fresh. The sauerkraut, according to him, "tasted like dirty socks." The spaetzle was genuinely offensive -- mushy, overly bland, and tossed with what looked like hydrated diced mushrooms that literally tasted like dirt. I honestly questioned whether it had gone bad. Beyond the food, the restaurant itself felt dirty and had a strange smell throughout. It honestly seems like a place locals may still visit out of habit or convenience, but it no longer reflects what I imagine it once was. It's unfortunate, because there's something special about a restaurant that's been around for 65 years and still tries to maintain its old-school charm. Sadly, the food and cleanliness just don't live up to that legacy anymore. Save your money unless you're only stopping in for an overpriced German draft beer. We definitely won't be back.

From fusion such as kimchi and bacon pasta to traditional dishes such as seafood pancake and ramen, from grilled items like butter grilled squid to soup items like fish cake stew, they have it all! The Korean alcoholic drinks include soju, flavored soju, 4-5 kinds of Korean beer, and the Makgeolli rice wine. The prices are reasonable for the portions; most big items are 20 or slightly higher. We ordered Creamy Kimchi Bacon Pasta, Butter Grilled Squid, Korean Omelet and Bulgogi Dukboki. They all tasted delicious and the portions are an overkill. For three of us, we barely finished half. Service was like the Korean style, they appear to take orders, deliver food, and disappear. They did give us a new bottle of water. But they disappear until you call them for the check. The waiter was pleasant when picking up payment and engaged in a small talk. This is definitely a place for large crowds. By about 8:30pm, the wait lounge was filled. So I think the later it goes, the more crowd they get.

Tucked away in the vibrant heart of Little Tokyo, Art District Brewing instantly caught my attention. The atmosphere alone made it worth the visit, with that perfect blend of industrial cool and neighborhood charm that only LA seems to pull off. The tap selection was impressive -- thoughtfully curated and clearly crafted with intention. But honestly? The food is what stole the show. I always love leaning on a server's recommendations, and this time it paid off beautifully. The chicken tenders arrived golden, perfectly crispy on the outside, and impossibly juicy within. These weren't your average bar bites -- they were the kind of dish that makes you pause mid-conversation just to appreciate the moment. Whether you're a craft beer obsessive or simply someone who appreciates great food in a great setting, Art District Brewing belongs on your LA itinerary. Next time you find yourself wandering Little Tokyo, do yourself a favor and walk through those doors. You can thank me later.

Writing this review in hopes the manager will see cause what's going on is NOT okay. The bartenders…read morecare more about drinking with their coworkers/ friends than actual paying customers. I was waiting in line for half an hour while I watched bartenders leave the bar to walk to friends, give them drinks, and drink with them. They continue to ignore me when I asked for help. Their friends however, stayed with filled drinks. Other employees that I thought were off the clock (they were in uniforms) continuously went behind the bar and also grabbed drinks. RIDICULOUS! The worst part was when I finally got help, IM GUESSING, the bartender poured too much in my shot then she decided to pour the excess into the cup of her friend/coworker's cup and still proceeded to charge me full price???? This is unacceptable and something or someone needs to be held accountable.

We have been to Kings Head so many times and I have forgotten to review them. We have dined there…read moreat least 10 times and for the first time we just called out order in and picked it up. The place has been around for years and most of their food is just great. It has a full bar and a separated bar area which is so cute, but gets super crowded and loud. Eat in the dinning room. The place is older and could use a refresh, but it is cute and always super clean. The service is very nice. They will take good care of you. They have a nice selection of beer on tap. They are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Their breakfast is really tasty and they make great eggs. I don't care for black pudding so I never get it. They have great hot and cold sandwiches and wonderful salads. They are famous for their fish and chips. They are some of the best. They are perfectly deep fried and the chips are great. I also get a side of mashed because it is so good. I also had a pasty, which is not on the menu, and I was super disappointed, so I won't do that again. They used to be great. I love their hot beef sandwich and often get that for lunch. There is something for everyone here. Parking is a bear, but you might find a place on the street or their is a paid lot across the street. You can walk to the Santa Monica Pier from here or to the beach. We will be back again and again.
