Here's your review: --- **1 star. Rude staff, blatant favoritism, and a ruined first experience.** I came to The Douglas on Sunset specifically to watch the FIFA match. We were seated in a shaded, well-positioned spot with great ambience, ordered food and drinks, and settled in for the game. Around halftime, staff switched our screen to the Dodgers game without asking us. When I flagged it to a female bartender, her exact response was "hold on, I don't care, I'll go see what I can do" -- and then she simply walked off and never returned. A different staff member, a man, was genuinely helpful and got our game back on. He deserves real credit; he was the one bright spot in this entire visit. Shortly after, while I was placing another food and drink order at our table, a second bartender confronted me -- rudely and aggressively -- demanding to know if I was "the one who asked for the game to be changed." He then informed me that FIFA couldn't be shown where we were seated and that we'd need to go watch it in the parking lot, in direct sunlight, despite the fact that we'd already been sitting there comfortably for half an hour with food and drinks. It was obvious the switch was to accommodate a small group of the bartender's friends who wanted the Dodgers game instead -- actual paying customers were an afterthought. This is Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles. The Dodgers game is playing on every screen in every bar within a mile. We asked for one screen, in the shade, for one soccer match, and were treated like an inconvenience for it. Bottom line: favoritism over customers, condescending staff, and a complete lack of basic hospitality. The one exception was the male bartender who actually helped us -- everyone else made this a first and last visit. read more

The fries were not good. It was also kind of creepy the way he brought it out to me not even speaking, I wasn't given any napkins, and it was heavily sauced with mustard. Definitely bar food would only like it if I was intoxicated, not a place I would go to for a quick bite. Service was lacking on both ends. This is a BEER BAR ONLY. Know before you go that this place does not have a full bar. That being said, THIS BAR HAS A KITCHEN AND IT IS AWESOME. We loved everything we ate and the prices are some of the best in town. On Thursdays they serve the McDouglas burger for $6 ALL DAY!! In addition, it's worth noting that their Wi-Fi is 50MB down, plenty for you to do some work while you drink/eat. The people were super friendly too. I brought my dog and they were groovy with it. Lot of Dodgers influence here. It's dive bar presence, but with better food and cleaner place. PARKING SUCKS. First and most importantly, the people. Service was awesome. Bartenders seemed so genuine like your ideal friendly neighborhood bar. They strike up an actual conversation with you. Amazing beer selection for both those feeling adventurous and for those who stick to what they know. TVs inside and out on the patio to watch the game. They seem to put multiple games on if you need to multitask. Love the wooden interior and the leathery booths. Seating options for small groups, large groups and spots for those going solo. Food Backyard Burger: 10/10 Exactly what you're looking for and the double patty wasn't insanely filling. More room for snacks! LA Pretzel: 6/10 Not the best pretzel. Plus I like mine with salt crystals but the game was on and we bought it for good luck! Easy to snack on but don't save it for last like we did since it gets cold and dry if it sits out. Comes with both cheese and mustard. Points for that. Can't go wrong there. Hoping to try more snacks and desserts next time! Today (6/14/26 at 4 PM): Very disappointed with this place. Not a place to watch the World Cup! We came specifically to watch the Ecuador World Cup game. We arrived early with friends and watched the Japan game first. When it was time for Ecuador's match, multiple people politely asked the bartender to change the channel. Each time, he said he needed to take care of the bar and would do it later. What should have taken less than two minutes was repeatedly brushed off. 10min later my husband and friends asked again, the bartender came around the bar, accused us of being aggressive, and told us to leave. I calmly explained that my husband and I are sober, I'm Ecuadorian, and we simply wanted to watch my country's game at our neighborhood bar. What makes this even more disappointing is that I've been coming here since they opened during COVID. I've brought friends here for years and have always considered it my neighborhood sports bar. In fact, I came here four years ago to watch an 8 AM soccer game on a weekend, so I naturally expected a major international match like this to be on. We decided to leave, and he changed the channel about a minute after we walked out. That made it feel like this was never about being too busy to help. Instead, it came across as a deliberate decision to ignore our requests. After years of supporting this business, this interaction completely changed how I view it. This is a little dive bar close to dodger stadium that we visit quite often when we go to games. It's not a full barn , but they have tons of different beers an IPAs. JOHNNY/DAVE: This was a problem...I hope you see this. We were a group of 4 and watched Japan vs Netherlands for the World Cup. Got a few orders of fries, non-alcoholic beers and 2 people ordered a few beers. We stayed to watch the Ecuador vs Ivory Coast match. The match was on a different channel from the previous game and the bartender didn't change the channel to put it on. After it had started and the bartender still hadn't changed the channel; 2 other people from a different group asked him to put it on. He said he'd take care of the bar first....Another patron came over and asked me, to ask him, to put the game on. I asked, and again, he said he'd take care of the bar first....I watched him for 5 minutes try to find something to do - and no one needed anything. 1/2 the bar was there to watch the match and no one needed anything. After a few more people asked him to put the game on; it was clear he was delaying putting it on and it was some kind of power flex. He started trying to accuse us of being aggressive. Maybe he was implying we were drunk; my wife and I have been sober 3 years. This was the most bizarre thing I've ever seen in a sports bar. He told us we should leave if we wanted to watch the game. I've never been kicked out of a sports bar sober for politely asking the bartender to put a WORLD CUP game on. I started going to this place when it first opened and I'm very disappointed this place has the nerve to treat people like this. This place is cool! If you're looking for food I recommend the spicy chicken sandwich with a basket of tater tots. I will say to be careful though because it does pack a spicy punch. Popped by here with my friends before a Dodger game. I got the Caesar salad and chicken wings. The Caesar salad was packed with flavor. And the chicken wings were absolutely amazing, perfectly seasoned and didn't even need a sauce for dipping. My bf absolutely loved his ground beef nachos. The decor and rad history of mostly The Dodgers and old clips playing on a TV was such a great conversation starter with my son and the history of the Dodgers. I thought taking the dodger shuttle bus was great, but this was even better. don't have to rush to get to the shuttle bus, and it sure beats paying those over priced parking tickets. So that's a plus We ordered- BURGER and FRIES FALAFEL AND TATOR TOTS They were okay - edible but not great. Had that fresh frozen type feel. This is a type of place to just hang out and have a beer.
