In fact, I would bring my Breakfast Club there on about 20 or so different dates with numbers from a dozen to 40 people. And never heard a issue from anyone. Their server David, knows us by name & what we will have most of the time. But for me, I just LOVE their Manhattan Clam Chowder, I could do 2 bowls of it by myself!! I've been here many times over the years and could've sworn I reviewed the Lighthouse Diner at some point. Apparently not.....so here goes: Very solid diner serving everything you'd expect to find on the menu. Whether breakfast, lunch, dinner or a light night snack.......you really can't go wrong here. Nothing that's going to blow your mind, but they're always pumping out consistently good food. Some notables for me are the homemade corned beef hash (just ask them to crisp it up a little.....you won't be disappointed) and any triple decker club sandwich (they're basic but very satisfying). We've made it a tradition now that whenever we fly into JFK (to visit family on L.I.), we come here for breakfast after taking the redeye flight from LAX. We pretty much get the same things, scrambled eggs with home fries and either sausage or bacon. I get the sausage, and my hubby gets the bacon. They do a really good job with breakfast. We haven't ventured onto the pancakes or waffles section; we primarily stick with eggs and their accompaniments and are just fine with it. We were seated in a booth that clearly had some kind of stained liquid(oil, sauce) on the seat. We asked it to be cleaned. Beware!!!!! Monday night after hanging out I wanted to get a bite to eat I usually go down the block to Massapequa diner but they are closed on Mondays so I ended up here with my boyfriend. The sign outside says open 24 hours when we got inside we were told we could only order to go we could not be seated. I immediately didn't want to order I wanted to leave my boyfriend convinced me to still get food. I ordered a veggie omelette with hash browns & an order of pancakes. He ordered an omelette also. I only ate about 1/2 of the omelette and a few bites of the pancake. Not even 2 hours later I became sick very, very sick with violent diarrhea. I am still sick right now I had to call out of work, my daughter couldn't go to school she stayed up with me all night helping me. I'm trying to understand the hype about this place, it's alright, nothing great. We walked in and the place was dead. Our server was rushing us to order as he wanted to go on his phone. He took our order. The cream of turkey soup was delicious. The issue is that I really couldn't enjoy the soup because my sandwich followed immediately. The sandwich was meh, with cold fries. I can tell she's zooted up on black coffee. By the way, the coffee is terrible! She mentioned a fresh pot was made but they made mud. It wasn't enjoyable. I ordered my standard diner dish, challah French Toast with sausage. My dish comes to me, the FT hits home along with the standard syrup packets. A little bite of FT with a piece of sausage and topped with that fake syrup? At this moment in time, this is the best meal on earth. What a nostalgic rush! He was told that there might be an added charge for that...around $1.95. He also asked for some coleslaw....never said that would be extra! The fish was bland! I ordered the French dip sandwich. We complained to the waiter and he said he told the manager who never bothered to come to our table to talk to us.
