Pistachio espresso martini with an in house pistachio cookie. Heaven

Second time coming here and it is always packed. But it is the lobby of a beautiful hotel so I understand the crowd. The bartenders are drink making machines , be patient they are cranking out masterpieces in a small space. The cocktails are worth the wait. A few bar seats and other couch spots. I wouldn't belly up here and stay here all night but definitely worth coming for one or two before your next stop.

We had our fair share of mediocre meals in Charleston from overpriced and overhyped restaurants. However, The Living Room at The Dewberry single-handedly saved our trip and made every single day better. For the weekend it truly felt like our living room. We loved having our nightcaps of mochas and warm chocolate chip cookies. Even decided to come for brunch one morning because we knew we would receive the food and hospitality we were looking for. On the last night, our waitress found out it was my birthday and brought us two complimentary glasses of champagne. All of the workers here from the waitstaff to front desk, to the woman running the shop inside were simply lovely and so helpful. Everything here is wonderful and it's also the main reason I want to go back to Charleston. Thank you for being our happy place that we could count on.

Do try and visit The Living Room at The Dewberry for more of a relaxed holiday drink or meal. The service is attentive and friendly and I've observed the staff to go a bit beyond with answering patrons questions concerning "what to do and where to dine" in Charleston.~ therefore I do give this dining room 5 ***** My every week "go to" spot for a relaxing brunch.... grab any one of several newspapers available in the Lobby as well as fresh bottomless coffee urns that are set up for you to enjoy and head to The Living Room at The Dewberry!

Such a fun spot to get coffee and a quick breakfast! We were looking for a coffee shop and stumbled upon this place inside of The Dewberry hotel. Swanked out with Art Deco decor, super kind staff and a small but mighty breakfast menu! We got a few iced coffees which were delicious and their breakfast sandwich. Smoky bacon, a sunny side up egg, tomato jam and sharp cheese all nestled between a flaky, buttery croissant! YUM!

The Dewberry is always stunning. I've been to the rooftop but had not eaten downstairs in The Living Room. Chill vibe, there was wonderful jazz playing lowly when we sat down. Took a turn real quick when a DJ started and we could barely talk to one another. The deviled eggs tasted like mayonnaise was the sole ingredient, the flatbread was soggy and lacked sauce/flavor. The basque cheesecake, on the other hand, was delightful. Just like momma makes. 5 stars for the service & cheesecake, 2/3 stars for other items.

Cool little bar in the The Dewberry but I have to point, I had an incident with the bartender who acted like such a toolbag! Being from out of state, I used my credit card at a gas pump and they secured the card until I contacted them. They sent me a text and I thought all was well. That being said, I ordered the Queen of Scot Cocktail and it was probably the best cocktail I had all year. The bar scene is typical, folks after work looking to have a nice cocktail. There's a wannabe hipster behind me who wants to order a IPA, I can see him getting his hairbun twisted. I ordered two cocktails. The bartender is peeling fruit, shaking drinks and making these drinks like a true professional. So far so good. The drinks come to me along with the check. I give him my credit card and taste my Mary Queen of Scots drink. Holy Mother of Scotch! This drink is very complex, total fan. The bartender comes back and said something I couldn't understand. I thought he said sorry, the credit card didn't work. Not a problem, I give him my debit card (Which I hate to use when I'm out of town) and he said No, no, You're getting all mad at me, your credit card worked. Now, hipster boy says something about his drink over my shoulder? Now, I want to slap them both like the Three Stooges. This SOB, the bar is loud and I'm cool at this point? I sign the tab and split. A waitress drops off some popcorn with a kick?! The Living Room is a small hotel bar making some outrageous cocktails. Don't mind the bartender.. .

I stopped in just to have a look at The Dewberry, and was enthusiastically welcomed by Erick, and we chatted about the city. Erick's friendliness made me stop and have a drink, and his manager was kind enough to make me an off the menu aperol spritz. Appreciate their kindness! Comfortable outdoor seating.

This is an upscale place to get drinks. It look like a fancy living room in the 70s. The cocktails were good. They also serve Carmel popcorn with a bite to it. Nice touch.

I think this is one of the nicest bars I have ever been to. The wait staff is dressed super chic and the bartenders are high end. I've had maybe 8 drinks on their menu so far and every one is well balanced and tasty. The decor is also top notch. The bar area is beautiful!

It may have been just the crowd there, but I really loved it here! The drink menu needed a glossary for some of the ingredients, but we tried about 8 drinks between the 3 of us over several hours and all of them were quite good. The french fries and prezel app were good. The live music was great. The seating comfortable. The waitress could have been more helpful with drink descriptions and everything was a bit overpriced, so not someplace I would frequent often, but it made for a pleasant evening out.

I came here last weekend for the first time later in the evening. My friend and I were seated fairly quickly, he ordered a beer and I ordered a non alcoholic mojito. $9 for essentially soda water with mint leaf was a bit steep but my friend enjoyed his $7 beer. We split the check and I left the server a cash tip, when I checked my bank statement I noticed server had added in a additional debit tip that I did NOT leave, I would like to think was by mistake. I called to notify the manager about this and I was told the hotel was not yet opened but it would open this week and I could leave the manager a voice message and he would return my call . I did just that, I let him know I still had my recipe to copy and an extra tip was added into my bill that I did not leave the server. I never received a phone call back. I wouldn't recommend this place due to the lack of customer service and extremely high priced non alcoholic beverages. The proof is in the receipt that I kept, they need to reimburse customers if the servers do something like this, this is not ok.

While the idea of the "Living Room" is interesting, I don't think the execution is all there. The highlight of my happy hour was spending time with our friends. If you know the background of The Dewberry's building (old government facility), you can imagine/see the original layout today. I really couldn't get that out of my head - I felt like I was in an old office building that had been meticulously converted, yet it totally missed the mark. While I hadn't been in the building while it was occupied by offices, I'm fairly confident the bar was probably the check-in/info desk in the lobby of what once was (along with the multiple entries/exits and huge ground floor windows). The decor looks like you're on the Mad Men set, and I was totally into it. However, the execution was confusing; it just looks like a bunch of your really old relative's (now hipster-cool) furniture randomly placed all around a large, open room. I really just didn't get it. Also, to me, the acoustics were awful. I felt like I was shouting across to our friends. After we left and I complained to my bf, he said he didn't have any trouble hearing. Maybe I should get my hearing checked? Finally, the drink choices didn't do it for me. Even though they're shaken craft cocktails, they don't have the option of making them sweeter or not as sweet, etc. I asked the waitress what was sweet, and her answer was basically none of them. I opted for prosecco. The drinks that my bf and friends ordered definitely looked cool (the huge round ice ball was my favorite) and were strong. I tasted almost every drink that was ordered, and I wouldn't be ordering those if I went back. However, there were virtually no complaints from the others. In usual Mike M. fashion, I will say the bathrooms were nice. There was plenty of staff and they all seemed quick to serve. I'm willing to give it another shot, but unless I get a 180 turnaround on my second visit, I wouldn't be back unless I was staying at the hotel. Maybe the atmosphere is more inviting during the nighttime. Parking is $6 for their lot. Metered spaces are also available on surrounding streets.

nice quiet dinner with my daughter. i was so looking…read moreforward to the calamari fries!!! never more....but by special request ... bring them back!! pretty please!! at least i can have the wonderful fried oysters, which were awesome!!i also ordered green apple cauliflower soup & an arugula salad. kristen had the swordfish. chocolate covered-chocolate & vanilla gelato with almonds & a cherry for dessert. all very good.

Had a quick lunch there. The restaurant was half-full when I arrived, at about 1:45pm. There was a…read moresmall shaded patio. For food, I tried the fried catfish entree and Green apple-cauliflower soup. Both dishes were good. The fish was very tender and juicy. The butter bean succutash, which I never had before, contained butter beans, black eyed peas, corns, green and red peppers and red onions. It was delicious but since beans are of high FODMAP, I only had a little. The fish was topped with tomato jam made with crushed tomatoes, onions and sugar. It was served chilled. Paired well with the fish and succutash. The soup was creamy, silky, and full of flavor from cauliflower. The pistachio added some crunchiness to it. The taste of "green apple" was not obvious; in fact I was expecting there to be some apple slices, which could add extra texture and sourness to this rich soup. I also asked for a side of sourdough. A bit too salty for me. The service was kinda slow, except that food came out in reasonable amoutn of time **after I placed the order**, that is, I waited quite a while to order my food. The same for doing the check. I guess it was because there were not many staff at lunchtime, and most of them were senior thus could move as fast as young ppl.
