Food was all right. What really rubbed me the wrong way was at how they like to upcharge the bill. I asked for regular water (like anyone else, I assume water is FREE). The server says okay and then charges me $24 for two brand waters. I never asked for that. But okay, maybe it's my mistake for not looking at what he was pouring. Then I say it's my Mom's birthday and if they would anything nice. The server says oh yes we can do a dessert for her birthday. We say sweet! Then he offers a shot, we obviously assume it's out of the goodwill of the restaurant. Nope. We get charged for the dessert (which we didn't really want, we just wanted something that said happy birthday and it didn't even say so), and the shot, which was then up charged $5 more as a "cocktail" since the server said he wanted to surprise us. Honestly, I don't mind paying for these things. But I feel like the server took advantage of the obvious scenario of two kids celebrating their mom's birthday and just ran up the bill. The patio benches are not comfortable because there are no cushion on the benches. As a pescatarian, there weren't a whole bunch of options for me to eat so I had to customize my own meal. I ordered the Brussels app with a side of blackened salmon. Large portion of Brussels (surprising) and a good sized portion of fish. It was pretty good! Had a ton of flavor - I cleaned off my plate pretty quickly. The sweet potato fries were pretty good (nothing special though). My parents ordered the Tomahawk Steak medium well (wasnt as big as advertised) and a side salad (not really worth it in my opinion). Steak came in medium rare the first time. Sent it back. Came back medium the second time. Sent it back. Then it finally came back the perfect medium well. Despite the trouble with the steak, the staff were super helpful and always had a smile on their face (Luna, especially). They didn't make it feel like a burden at all. Luna offered a free dessert and 20% off our whole check for the trouble. Chose the dessert that had 3 cronuts with vanilla ice cream, raspberry preserves, and chocolate syrup. Parking in downtown Downey isn't the best but there is a free lot on the street behind the restaurant. I want to give this place more love but was pretty disappointed in my food. We had a huge party of 18 for a birthday. Two people in the party ordered the Tomahawk steaks. $135 a pop wIth no sides. You would think for the price, it would be perfect. Unfortunately that wasn't the case. We each ordered the steaks to be cooked medium rare. My friend's steak came medium and mine was almost medium well. The steak was seasoned ok, pretty salty for my taste but as far as flavor goes it was still edible. Also, and probably the most disappointing was that when comparing the two steaks, my friend's was much larger in size. I know the steaks are supposedly weighed with the bone, but the size of the actual steak wasn't even close in comparison. The Mac n cheese was good. The service was really good in my opinion. FYYYYYREEEE! I got the Fyre Fest burger and it was easily one of the top 5 burgers in my life. Some reviews have said its $150, but it was only $24 when I went. We went for lunch and it wasn't crowded, but you could tell, with its upscale industrial vibe, it gets packed. There were only two things that I didn't like: the location (why Downey... and not west LA) and the fact that fries weren't included in your order (pet peeve). I've been here a couple times during the day to try their signature cocktails. Saturday night I went to actually eat dinner and the wait was an hour and forty minutes. Totally worth the wait We went in with the intention to order the tomahawk steak BUT I wasn't sold on spending $100 on a steak that wasn't at a legit steakhouse. Instead I ordered the 18 ounce steak and after eating it I would definitely come back and spend $100 on the Tomahawk steak. For this not being Ruth's Chris or flemmings I was very impressed with how perfect my steak was cooked. The mac and cheese I order to share as a side was also mouth watering. I live in Downey and typically don't really spend a lot of time in downtown Downey as I'd rather try places in other "hip" neighborhoods but I would definitely spend another night here for another piece of steak. read more

It's very unfortunate that reservations cannot be taken ahead of time (over the phone). I called and was told I had to be in-person to officially make a reservation even though I was on my way there. The yelp reservations were only available for two hours later (I make one through yelp just in case). So, I show up, add my name to the in-person waitlist. They tell me it will be about 45 minutes. So, I wait in my car since they have no seating to wait in. An hour passes and we will still have not been seated. I ask the hostess and another worker (girl and guy at the front) for an update. We still have to wait. It's now been almost an hour and 20 minutes, I go up to ask again. I had made a reservation through yelp for 8:45pm and told them about it (at this point, the reservation could possibly help us get seated faster). The hostess told me that it won't actually help because there are 10 other reservations in front of us. Even though we are only a few minutes away from 8:45pm that does not mean we get seated at 8:45pm. So my thought is: what's the point of making a reservation at all then? Especially since they won't even respect it? I think they could see the look of frustration we had and they tell me we FINALLY just happen to be next ones. But they continue to pass other large parties before us. Once we finally get seated, we realize there are several open tables inside and many spots by the bar. I understand they need to keep a ratio for their waiters, but it was just two of us in total. Why couldn't we have been seated earlier by the bar? We planned to consume drinks anyways. The food was okay, but definitely not worth the wait time. To top it off, our waiter was not attentive at all. We had to constantly search for him so we gave up and just waited until he decided to come to our table. Horrible customer service. It's in a nightlife area. Plenty of other restaurants, bars and hookah around. We found parking right in front of the restaurant. There was a long line waiting outside. It's a very small place. I checked in and the host was very pleasant. We went to the bar to have some drinks while they got our table ready. We tried several mojitos with different flavors and they were amazing. Our bartender was great and quick. We got seated at 10pm. My fiance ordered a steak sandwich and I got the salmon. He loved his food. I did not. I'm all about flavor but it tasted like they dropped the entire salt shaker on top of my food. I'm not a complainer and we waited until 10:30pm to receive our food so I was starving and tried to eat it. Halfway through I just gave up because it was hurting my stomach. We never received the desert I pre ordered so I just paid and left. I spent around $150 for the meal and 5 mojitos plus a tip. Very nice place and wonderful staff but the wait time was pretty bad, the food was worse, and for what I paid, I expected better. Not sure if they got the birthday memo but it was not acknowledged. It was our first time visiting, our server was fantastic as was the playlist they had going on. Making a reservation online was super simple & quick, I highly recommend you make a reservation because they do get very busy. One thing to keep in mind, there is a 2 hour window per reservation. The ribeye was much smaller than I expected and there was a lot of FAT! I felt the service was under average. When our dishes came out, we didn't have any utensils or napkins and had to ask for it. Our friend hurted his finger before coming in and needed a band-aid. When asked, the host told him they didn't have any band-aids. She was obviously being lazy, because our waiter got us one instead. Wow where do I start? This was my first time ever going to lock & key with my girlfriends for dinner. When you walk in the vibe is super cool dark and lit up with the cool lights and a badass bar that takes up the full wall. We started with a Moscow mule the best I have ever had and I'm a huge mule fan. They don't use ginger beer they freshly juice the ginger and man they are soooooo yum! Best I have had in a long time. The service was decent by no means were the servers rude, but if you're looking to dine right away this isn't the place for you. The food was great.
