Delicious, fresh food! Attentive waitress! Glad we went. Yes, a bit expensive but for a fun night out, well worth it. The portions were generous. I got the lobster burger Loud place. It gets busy. But plenty of seating and pretty view of the water.

For the 250th anniversary of America, my friends and I spent a splendid weekend at Newport. Someone recommended this place to my sister and we decided to stop in for dinner. The food exceeded our expectations so much that we returned the next day for lunch! It's located near the harbor with a gorgeous view of boats on the water. It was my first time trying lobster and it honestly tasted heavenly. Lobster sliders were light and yummy, clam chowder was smooth and creamy, shrimp was coated in zesty and flavorful chimichurri. Oh, and let's not forget about that invigorating virgin mojito. Restaurant feels homey and coastal. Waited less than half an hour for a table of 5, even though they were packed. Our waitress was a little cold, but she did mention that she was miserable due to the heat. Overall, such an unforgettable place. Can't wait to return next summer!

Lovely lunch today . Got there when they opened on a Sunday at noon. My wife had the cold lobster roll with coleslaw, daughter had cold lobster roll with fries and I had the fish and chips! Be sure to stop by the end of the wharf next time you're in Newport,RI. Our server Avon was great! Thank you!

we went to the lobster bar on a summer monday night in july around 7pm, and it was about half full & easy to get a table outside, which was really nice at golden hour, gorgeous view. my family loved the lobster mac and cheese (seriously, they wouldn't stop talking about it), so definitely a win if you're into seafood. that said... if you don't/can't eat seafood, your options are pretty limited. i had the caesar salad with chicken and it was respectfully, awful. the chicken was cold, overcooked/chewy, flavorless and overall inedible. i get that this place is all about the lobster (as it should be), but people like me still want to eat with our seafood-loving families. we need at least one or two solid non-seafood options. please!

Couldn't have asked for a better experience here. On a gorgeous day, we were escorted to a table with a spectacular view right at the edge of the wharf and perched on the water. We ordered a chilled and a hot lobster roll for sharing--both incredible, with solid sides--crisp fries and an interesting, vinegary, not overly heavy or mayonnaise-y slaw. Rolls were stacked with fresh, tasty lobster. Clam chowder was very good as well. I can see this is prime locale and could get super busy--your money may vary, as they say--but we could not have been happier with the food, the setting, or the experience.

Yum yum!!! My cruise was at port near this eatery and due to the positive yelp reviews.. I just had to check this place out. The waitress was very friendly. We had the lobster roll w/ fries. YUM!! We also had the lobster panini and that was just as tasty. The portions were large and could have had just one meal for lunch since were not allowed to bring food back on the ship (boo). I may take this cruise again so I will be back!

Went out for dinner here with the family and it was a very beautiful restaurant. They do take reservations as well! Food - everything was very delicious. The oysters/shrimp were super fresh, along with our other appetizer of calamari. The breading on the calamari was perfect and perfectly cooked/fresh. Not pictured, I did order the pirates punch which was not very strong with alcohol, it was pretty watered down which was disappointing. I had the Cajun grilled swordfish which was tasty, bit of spice, but the fish was not dry. My bf had the lobster bar burger and he enjoyed it but couldn't finish it at all. Overall all the food was very delicious, but those of us who got alcoholic beverages didn't have much alcohol in our drinks. Service - quick and catered to all of our requests, the waitress was super nice and actually took off one of the alcoholic drinks due to its watered down taste. Ambiance - right on the harbor/dock was a very nice view with the outdoor seating. Got to see a bunch of boats come and go from the harbor when eating dinner. Overall, great experience and I would go here again if I'm in Newport!

Good spot for lunch but I definitely didn't order the right thing My girlfriend got a panini which was good The fries were reeeeeaally good The lobster was.... Not my favorite. I didn't like the herb rub but that's my fault It was expensive but what do you expect, really? Service was good, place was beautiful right on the water. Probably better for dinner (We went here in a vlog- hailey and Kiki on YouTube!)

As a native New Englander, I don't say this lightly: this was one of the best seafood meals we've…read morehad in a very long time. Phenomenal oysters and shrimp; seared tuna was stellar! We made the rookie mistake of showing up without a reservation on a Tuesday night, and the restaurant was packed. The hostess, who was in training, handled the situation with such poise. She was warm, thoughtful, and transparent about the 45-minute wait, which we genuinely appreciated. What really set the tone, though, was Will. I later learned he was one of the owners, but you never would have guessed it. He wasn't standing back overseeing the dining room; instead, he was in it, working just as hard as everyone else. He welcomed us personally, empathized, and even offered us a cocktail while we waited. As we sat nearby, we watched him gently coach the hostess in training. There was humor, kindness, and encouragement, balanced with clear expectations: simple reminders like making sure every guest is greeted the moment they walk through the door. It was leadership by example. He carried himself with humility, intention, and a work ethic that he clearly models for his entire team. Watching those interactions made me appreciate the restaurant even before we sat down to eat. By the end of the meal, the wait didn't matter one bit. In fact, after experiencing both the hospitality and the food, we completely understood why the restaurant was full on a Tuesday night. The service was exceptional. I'll update this review once I remember our server's name because she absolutely deserves recognition. She was attentive, incredibly hardworking, and gracefully managed not only our table but the many families with children around us. The manager also stopped by to check on us, and it felt entirely sincere. The model started at the top and was clearly part of their ethos. They were so generous which is why we recommend this spot to anyone visiting the area! The food was every bit as impressive as the service. The shrimp cocktail featured some of the largest, freshest shrimp I've had in years--perfectly chilled and absolutely delicious. The oysters were impeccably fresh and beautifully presented. Every dish reinforced why New England seafood has the reputation it does. Great restaurants serve great food. Exceptional restaurants create a culture that guests can actually feel. This place does both. We'll absolutely be back--and next time, we'll be smart enough to make a reservation.

First visit to Mean Burgers and it was all positive!…read more The traffic was nonsense but other than that... My son & I went at an off hour on a cloudy Wednesday. There were a few other tables and by the time we left it was picking up with an early dinner crowd. We had a lovely server named Jodi who was attentive & helpful. The windows were open so I am not sure if they have air conditioning but we were not too warm. The food was delicious! We got the Jerk burger, cooked perfectly, large portion! I might get the aoli on the side in the future it was just a tiny bit too much for me but really good! We had a side of plantains which were perfect & made the mistake of upgrading to salads on both. There's plenty of bike parking by the beer yard. It was a nice day so we wanted to sit outside and have a few beers in the Hog Island beer garden. Service was great. They were getting prepared for the busy season training some folks, and everyone was very friendly and hospitable. The beer garden itself was a huge grassy area with plenty of seating, a mix of picnic tables and regular tables with chairs. Despite it being right by the woods it didn't seem too buggy which was really nice. After hanging out a bit we decided to get dinner there. We were able to order food right at the beer garden and pick it up at the take out window. The food was awesome! We got a bowl of clam chowder, loaded tater tots, and the Rt 6 bacon cheeseburger with a side of greens. First, they're not messing around when they say 'loaded' tots! Some places put a sad little drizzle of cheese sauce on top, but theirs were thoroughly covered with a delicious beer cheese sauce, fresh bacon, and scallions. The clam chowder was great! Not too thick, lots of clams and clam flavor. And the burger was amazing! A nice, thick, juicy patty that was perfectly cooked, a really fresh brioche style bun with lots of flavorful toppings. We walked through the restaurant itself to use the bathroom and it seemed like they had a lot of seating, a nice bar, and a patio area. The only bathrooms being inside the restaurant was a little annoying, but I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt that they'll have some port-o-potties by the beer yard come the full fledged busy season. Overall a really nice time and we look forward to returning!
